Welcome to Chris Park in Shooting Sports as you can see we have a large box in front of us from Viking and uh let’s see what’s in it because I’m under the impression this is a rifle that’s been sent to me for review with gun Mar TV so

It won’t be on my channel it will be on there and judging by the weight of it it’s quite serious now this is going to be one of the um Precision rifles in a chassis but which action it is I’m not sure yet whether it’s a straight pull

Impulse or a 110 bolt action I’m not sure but uh you know as always you get to find out when I get to find out I get offered so many guns and there’s so many phone calls I tend to forget what’s been said on the phone so

Until I actually uh open the box I’m never quite sure but I’ve got a rough idea right get to wh skin this it does mean it’ll be easy to send back because all I have to do is put it back in the box and wrap it with some black

Film which is a lot easier than all the um cardboard boxes so here we go let’s have a look and see what’s in it you ready is it 110 or is it an Impulse 110 or impulse what you wrting 50/50 110 impulse if I can get it

Open hang on why can’t I get this open now ah it’s a zip tie on it they put a zip tie on it right there we go one 10er impulse one 10er impulse oh there’s another zip tie on it I can’t see these the hidden I’m so excited and so Keen to get

It open I’m not really uh right for the last time 110 or impulse you ready it’s an Impulse so this is the straight pull rifle X excellent right let’s just uh get some of this stuff out of the way I’m just going to um check all this in and

Out that looks like it’s rocking and maybe going to fall off there oh they’ve sent me some black film to wrap it back up with and two zip ties well how very nice of Viking arms but there is something Viking arms always send that is more important than an invoice or

Anything else Viking arms yes they send me some Haribo as well right well we’ll sort all that out later let me just move this excuse me one moment right we’re back in the room let’s get rid of that knife over there we don’t need that let me just re

Familiarize myself with the impulse now I have shot the impulse in various geisers those of you been watching my channel I first reviewed one of these just before the previous distributor stopped um uh supplying them in the the sporting format sporting rifle and then a couple of months ago I went over to

America I mean I’ve shot these in various events in the UK couple months ago I went over to America I built one of these in the factory at Savage and I took one hunting with me as well with the proof research carbon Barrel in 7 mm

Uh 7 mm PRC so that’s going to be a new thing that’s coming soon and we’ll get that when we get it but here we are this is the rifle so what should we do first let’s talk about the action now again the full review of this is going to be

On gunmart TV but I’ll do you a little brief overview now right let’s start with the aics magazine so there 10 round aics magazine now there you can fit fives if you want that’s a 10 that’s a fairly standard conventional format for lots of precision rifles there’s a big

Release latch there now the action is a straight pull so it goes forward and it closes like that now that will not now open until it’s either fired and it’ll cycle like that or if I want to open it in an unfired st State there’s a button on the

Back you can just see here push that in and the lever will open but generally speaking bang cycle bang cycle bang cycle and there we go so you have to just remind yourself of how that works and it’s a little bit different to some other strap PES but it actually works

Very well in use and the rifles are generally pretty accurate cuz Savage do do a good Barrel this one is in 308 we’ve got a muzzle break on the front joy for me there I’ll get the double A Defenders on we’ve got a load of this is

Um an MDT chassis by the looked it yeah MDT ACC chassis so let’s have a little look at the overview on that we’ve got a load of mlock we’ve got a massive free float and it’s totally stiff we’ve got arker rail here more mlock on the

Underside so we’ve got a huge amount of accessory Edition possible there for balance weights or whatever you want to put on it there’s a barricade stop here pumping into those barricades triples whatever and you can hold that firm barrel nut system you’ll have seen this

Probably I’ll put a link up on screen to some of these videos I built one of these in the factory well I assembled one in the factory shows you how the barrel knut procedure works and the fact that you can get very precise head spacing with goes and noo gauges on

Those there’s a couple of little little accessory points there we shall investigate those later um this is very vertical grip on it MDT grip you can put whatever grip on these chassis you want this is obviously what it’s supplied with and we’ve got adjustable cheek piece height which is

On this roller here with locking screws there and we’ve also got adjustable cheek uh sorry adjustable recoil pad and length of pull so The Recoil paddle slip up and down there so let’s leave that about there slacking those two screws off and then the recoil pad will extend

On this screw here so I’ll use the ceiling camera on this you’ll probably see see it better in operation there’s also a quick release Anchor Point there for quick release stud so you can put those in too now immediately I’m drawn to the fact that it’s got quite a narrow

Cheek piece on this so this will fit well oh God it weighs weighs a bit it’s not really designed for off hand shooting that will fit nicely under your cheekbone without displacing you Jo you don’t need to roll your head over it which I absolutely hate on big fat cheap

Pieces it’s non-folding that doesn’t matter you don’t need need a folding stock and of course it’s all cut out here for reducing weight maintaining stiffness we’ve got a bit more M loock on the UND side there you may want to put some more accessories on that but

The ACC chassis has in itself been covered multiple multiple times by I’m sure thousands of YouTube channels and other reviewers I am not personally a PRS competitor I quite like the concept of the sport but it’s just not something that appeals to me cuz I’m a little bit

Busy shooting gun for every other reason right let’s look at the bolt on this now these ball bearings here effectively work like the lugs they open out into a rebate around the barrel and it stops that’s what bears the pressure on the front we’ve got the usual firing pin

Extractor claw there and there’s a manual ejector on these so you can you know be very forceful if you want or very slow if you want very delicate now I’m not sure I can actually simulate this out of the gun but I need to press that one in there I’m just trying to

Remember if I can anyway these bearings you’ll see them sort of under their own weight popping out there perhaps um the bearings actually lock the Lo lock the rifle close to be pressure I’ve used these on multiple guns I have no issue with them they’re all proven they’re all

Safe and the American litigious culture will definitely not like those if they weren’t well proven similarly that litigious culture is fairly evident let me just get that back in there the bot release catch as you can see is on the left side here Works in a fairly conventional manner and that’s obviously

Running in the slot the rebate on the bolt there to stop it rotating this has got one of the Savage ACU Triggers on it some people like them some people don’t I personally don’t have a problem with them because I just treat them as a sing as a two-stage

Trigger even though they are single stage so just to go through this again which I did the other day on a B17 when you use the ACU trigger the center lever goes in and that’s like the first St of a two St trigger and then your finger pad touches onto the normal

Trigger blade little squeeze pop off it goes and you get a CL CR you get a crisp clean precise trigger operation but it’s Ultra safe and it keeps the American lawyers happy and that is kind of what’s been going on with the um Savage rifles Now where’s that come from that’s come

Out of there hasn’t it so you need to nip those down once you’ve set your cheap piece height don’t want to lose one of those do we so last thing to mention on this it looks like we’ve got a loophole Mark 5 scope it’s been fitted

To it makes my life easier it might even be zero but I won’t guarantee that and we’ve got loophole rings as well it’s a full length pick inia rail on there which I don’t think actually looks like it’s got any inclination on it which is

No huge issue but um you know you can add that in the Rings If you need to but these big Scopes have got masses of elevation anyway if I remember rightly I think that’s a 35 mm tuw isn’t it it’s a bit you know a bit unusual it’s not the

34 standard but I might be wrong on that one we’ve got nice solid clicks on here the loophole stuff’s great I went to the factory when I was over in America as well it’s very reliable windage elevation good firm clicks that’s got side Parallax on it’s not illuminated

But for a precision rifle scope I’m not sure how required that is and of course we’ve got a nice big throw lever there and it is of course first focal plane with a fast Focus eyepiece at the back end here so there we go um well please

Like And subscribe to my channel click the notification Bell cuz my uploads are sometimes two or even three three times a week but this rifle review will be on gunmart TV and I will put a link to that on this video when that video goes live because I’ll be shooting this gun for

Two or three weeks probably before the video is made and then it’ll get uploaded to them there so there we go I shall get my a Defenders ready cuz I do love muzzle brakes and uh my ear plugs as well but in the meantime thank you

For watching go through to the end of the video click on the link for tickets to 2020 4 British shooting show the NEC in Birmingham it’s the 23rd to the 25th of February I will be there pop along you never know we might even bump into

Each other and if we do say hello tell me what you think of my channel tell me I’m an idiot tell me I’m not I really don’t mind because I like interacting with my viewers so thank you for watching bye for now right Haribo time

    1. Have been waiting a long time for this review, will be keen to see how it compares to the Anschutz 1782 APR – If they ever get round to sending it to you!

    2. I have one savage rifle and I wouldn’t have one again having a lot of problems now with feeding and extracting of spent rounds after sales is shocking too been waiting for new parts for several months now

    3. Looking forward to this. I only found out about the impulse recently, and I'm curious what kind of accuracy you get out of it.
I definitely won't be at the show but I enjoy your channel. It's nice to see what people are shooting outside the U.S.
