With the caravan to Spain. I’m talking to a couple here at the campsite. Welcome to this video. Since I myself have no experience or currently have no experience with caravans to Spain, I looked for a camper and I am grateful that they answered my questions. Some things are

Similar for motorhomes and caravans, so I will always add things or give information from time to time. So now I’m with the two of them here at the campsite who want to tell me something. And it’s about caravans. How do you get to Spain with a caravan? Hello you two. Hello everyone.

And tell me your names briefly. Yes, I’m Gabi. I am Alfred. Hello, Gabi and Alfred. I come from Gelsenkirchen, Schalke. Nice. Yes. Yes / Yes. You’re here with the caravan. Yes. And how long have you been here? We have been here since November 1st. here.

Yes, we are now in the middle of February, the end of February. How long do you stay? 3rd of April. Now you might have to start by saying: Not only have you always driven a caravan, but you also once had a mobile home.

We traveled around the area in our motorhome for six years. Yes, and you changed that. And is there a reason for that? The reason is because we stay in the same places longer. Yes, the motorhomes were always short distances. Or always a few days. Then we covered pretty much everything

In Germany and then the North and Baltic Sea coasts and everything was ready. Yes, yes and then there is also a reason: my wife is not much of a cyclist. Well, of course, if you have a car with you, you are more mobile. You have completely different options, then.

And those are the main reasons, I would say. Then after six years you separated from the motorhome and now have a caravan in Fulda. September 22 they were taken into a caravan. Yes, yes, okay. And then the first trip was up here too. No, the first was Italy. Lake Garda.

But you also drove many kilometers in the motorhome. Oh yeah. 40,000 kilometers in six years . Now you are, if you want to put it that way, long-term campers or long-term campers over the winter here in Spain. Do you have the impression that a caravan is a better story than a motorhome?

In any case, first of all in terms of size. You have more space. Yes, and of course, of course, you are more mobile if you have a car with you. Yes. And how big is yours? Or how long is your caravan? Our caravan is complete with a drawbar. 7 meters 50.

What weight does he have? 1800 kilos. Oh yes, that’s not a little. Well, what kind of car do you drive? The Audi A4 Quattro. Yes, and it can pull 2100 kilos. Well, okay. Yes, now it’s like that when you drive to Spain here, I don’t know how many kilometers you have. 2340km.

And you don’t drive in one piece, you have to spend the night somewhere. Yes definitely. We do it in stages and, for example, stay in one place for a few days and look at everything there and that’s the nice thing because we now have the car and can drive around everywhere.

For example, we were in Rosis, we really liked it. We were there a week before we came here. Yes, and what do you now use as staging areas? Pitches or campsites? Mainly campsites. And Spätzle Fritz of course. Caravans are not allowed to park on pitches everywhere,

But then you look exactly where are you allowed to go? Yes exactly. And do you have parking spaces or campsites that you keep going to? Yes, because we can stay there attached. That’s wonderful, we don’t need to hang out. Yes, and we were really lucky with all the places.

Yes, my wife does the navigator and gets them out. Yes, the first one is 420 kilometers from our home. Near Nancy. He’s not that far. That’s roughly 290,300 kilometers. Macon. I know Macon, but it’s not open all the time in the winter months. No, only until October 31st.

Yes, you always have to make sure that it happens that way. Now on the way there we stopped at Avignon again. Yes, of course we took a look at the city of Avignon and then Roses next. We stayed there again for seven nights. Yes, and then Spätzle Fritz. Yes / Yes.

And then we wanted to go to the new campsite in Murcia. We didn’t like that that much. Then we asked further and we were lucky that our parking space was available again. Of course, there are many other campsites and parking spaces that can be used as staging areas towards Spain.

I have a parking space map and on this parking space map you can see where you can also stop attached. Not every pitch is allowed to have caravans, but if there is enough space and there are large areas, then I think it’s not a problem. If you are standing there with a caravan.

If there is a sign saying that caravans are not allowed, you should of course not stand there. On my parking space map I have marked the places in blue where you can stand tensely. In France these are primarily stopover places that can be used for an overnight stay.

Once you click on a symbol, my field opens on the left . There you can see the video or you can click on the video and watch the video. Below the video you can see a text there, a short description of the place

And underneath you will also find the coordinates of the place. Unfortunately, the different marking of the seats does not work via the app. So you open the parking space map via the browser. So go to my parking space map online and you’ll see the different markings.

In France there are many inexpensive campsites along the route that can be used as a stopover with a caravan. You just have to pay attention to when they open and how they open. Not all of them are open all year round. There are of course different apps that you can use.

This is Park4Night Camperkontakt, there is an app from the ADAC. Then there is parking space radar. So you have to look through what you like best. If you do tours here to Spain now. There is a playlist on my YouTube channel. Videos are summarized there, for example about a trip to Spain,

How we drove with a trailer, which places we used. This could perhaps be an inspiration for some people as to how they can design their tour. I will put links to these videos or to this playlist in the text below the video . So that anyone who is interested can find it quickly.

One more important point: I can only strongly advise against spending the night at motorway service stations. It’s just too dangerous. You always hear about people breaking up in the night, even if you think you hear it, you usually don’t hear it. It’s best to drive down and find a parking space somewhere.

Now let’s move on to the two campers. Are there any special things with the caravan that you should pay attention to? Do you have to have a mark on the back? No, no, I’m basically three centimeters over 12 meters. Normally I have to have this warning sign. I do not have any.

I have to get in touch with that. All vehicles longer than 12 meters, including trailers, must have a wall panel at the rear. You can see that here. You can get them online and they can be mounted horizontally or vertically. This applies to Spain.

I don’t know if this also applies to other European countries. You’d have to look again. And how do you do it, do you drive on the highway? Mainly on the highway. Have you ever tried driving secondary routes? No, not big, just to the campsites. But the normal route is mostly highway.

Do you happen to know how much toll you pay? It was €144 per year . I have this toll box. This toll1. That’s very good. Yes, we can get through it so well. Nice. Yes, good. The tolls Alfred mentioned here are only for France. In Spain you no longer pay tolls almost anywhere

And you don’t have to have a toll box. That’s a luxury. You can treat yourself to that. It is enough if you have a Visa or Mastercard. You can use this to pay the toll. There are also plenty of toll booths where you can pay with cash.

Of course you can also drive toll-free if you have enough time. The whole thing is of course a little more difficult. Well, I mean here in Spain, I didn’t write them down because we only got to Spätzle Fritz and then we drove through.

But we have also been to a place in Alicante, and we were at the campsite in Murcia above. Have you reserved it then? I wrote an email beforehand saying we could come at that time and get an answer straight away. Everything always worked out wonderfully. Nice. She is a navigator.

It’s nice if you share it like that. I’ve always seen that we don’t drive that far. But if we’re on the way back, then we were good. So we stop again in Roses. Then stay for a few more days and you can rest again.

And then the stages through France, which are also quite okay. Well, back to the caravan. We can get into that again. Yes, caravan, are you somehow self-sufficient? Yes, self-sufficient. I had the circuit done. Yes, I also need it automatically through the mover. Aha. Also with battery. Yes, and I also have

A solar power plant. When we are somewhere without electricity. Then I can unpack. Also self-sufficient or with electricity from solar energy. We could do that. And what about water? Does it also have fresh water and wastewater? It has a large 50 liter fresh water tank. Wastewater is direct.

There you have a movable waste water tank. Yes, we have that too, it already has this new filter system in it. I also have a city water connection, which is fully connected. Practical here at the campsite. You also have all the irrigation and drainage wonderfully.

Have you had any bad experiences on your journey? No. Not at all. Not yet. Do you have special insurance for the caravan? Just like motorhome insurance, it is the VDH. They basically had a lot of mobile homes, right? Yes, you have probably been in the ADAC for a long time. Since 1974.

Yes, these are things like that that you should probably pay attention to, I think. Yes, I needed it in Italy back then. Back then I traveled a lot by boat. Yes, my head gasket blew on the burner in Italy. I was stuck in a traffic jam for a long time.

Things went wonderfully with the ADAC. Down with the tow truck and the rental car is there. Are you well looked after? Yes, that’s all I can say. We haven’t had any trouble yet. Do you have any experience with illness abroad? No, no, no, not either.

We probably also have additional insurance, including with the ADAC. We’re still pretty fit, in a good mood, rickety. OK. Something can happen quickly. Like our neighbor with his appendix rupturing overnight. Of course it can happen. There are two large hospitals in this region, one in El Chido and one in Almeri Mar.

Care is guaranteed here in the event of illness. So, are you going to stick with caravans in the future? Yes / Yes. Or there used to be, there was also a motorhome there and there was space there. And then? If you think about it, we’ve been to Malaga twice now.

It’s wonderful with a car and you could n’t do that with a bike. That was a bit far. So you guys, are you happy that you decided to do this? In any case! This will be our last one too. Yes, we’ll just keep driving along for as long as we can .

If you stay in one place for so long then it makes sense. Yes definitely. And we already go on trips by car. Yes, we want Gibraltar too. And then we will stay in the hotel for one night. Yes. Because then it will be even better in terms of time.

Yes, no problem at all. It’s just beautiful. And what about the space here? Are you satisfied with that? A lot. We are actually very satisfied. What we have experienced now Is this the best for me at the moment for a long time. Yes. Yes. Good. I can’t say anything bad.

Just the environment. It is like it is. Yes, that’s just the way it is, but over time you no longer see it. The first trip where we were in the 19th, where we came down, of course you look down from the highway. Yes, and today we don’t see that at all anymore.

This is just such a place for us, it couldn’t be better. So beautiful. Everything in the shower is clean and great for us. That’s why this is always our approach. Always hibernate for as long as possible. I thank you. Yes gladly. I wish you a nice stay. Thanks.

I think we will come here again. We’ll definitely see each other again there. It’s already booked. Okay thanks. Yes, that was my report on the topic of traveling to Spain with the caravan. Once again I say thank you for watching and bye bye until next time.

    1. Endlch mal was für Wohnwagenfahrer.

    7. Wunderbar, sachlich, freundlich und ruhig dargestellt! Auch wunderbar neutral zu Wohnwagen. Ich hatte auch mal angespannt, viele Vorteile. Man muss wissen, was man machen will. Sehr gut weiter so

Mach weiter so!

    9. Herzlichen Dank für das wundervolle Video! Ja, ein Wohnwagen macht auch total Sinn! Liebe Grüße und weiterhin einen wunderschönen Urlaub ❤
