Think you know Rouvy, well think again because this is Rouvy Reloaded. If you are into indoor cycling, then you’ve probably heard of Rouvy, but if you haven’t logged in for a while, then you can expect a pretty big surprise. Oh yes, Rouvy has undergone some fairly hefty changes and ready for 2024.

Rouvy has revamped itself. Let’s go and have a look at how it’s changed. If you’ve read our reviews of Rouvy from yesteryear, then you’ll know that we are big fans of the concept, the capabilities, and the realism of the indoor cycling app. However, it did always have one weak point,

And that was its navigation around the program to actually access all those excellent workouts, races, and rides. I’m unsure if Rouvy sacked its old designers and got some much better ones, but whatever. It’s done, it’s worked. Ruby has a whole new visual identity and it’s not just the logo that’s changed.

The virtual cycling platform has undergone a complete makeover. Rest assured, all the same functions are there. They’re just easier to find. And there’s also some AI that’s the artificial intelligence and not the other AI for any farmers out there that we’ll take a look at in a minute.

Since it launched in 2017, Rouvy has grown to become one of the most popular cycling apps and has enabled users to ride race and train on scenic terrain from around the globe. I still remember scouting out New Yorker before going in real life in 2019. If you’ve ever used it

Or watched our recent real life versus virtual climbing challenge, then you’ll see quite clearly that it’s a fair bit different to other indoor cycling platforms, mainly because of the reality level utilizing real world videos of iconic climbs and race courses. So what will you see now when you open up Rouvy

After the update? Well, it looks a lot like this. After an extensive nine month revamp, the plastic surgeons at Rouvy have addressed my previous n*****s and launched a brand new user interface. And I have to say it is now much easier to navigate opening it up.

I’m now faced with an entirely new dashboard. Over here I’ve got a scrollable list of recommended routes, challenges, events, and training workouts. It’s also much easier to find a specific route that I might have in mind. For example, maybe I’ll get all nostalgic and go back to Ensa.

And then on top of that, the app utilizes artificial intelligence. To me, that sounds complicated, but thankfully all the nerdy clever stuff goes on behind the scenes. And what I get is some recommended routes, which are perfectly tailored to me based on my previous activities. Let’s see where Ruby suggests our ride today.

I’m sure there’s some people out there muttering to their phone screens right about now, but why do I need AI to tell me where to ride? Obviously you do still have complete free will over which route you select. We are not slaves to computers just yet.

However, when there’s over 1000 real life routes to choose from, uh, from every corner of the globe, I for one, appreciate the help. I can’t even decide which socks to wear cycling, let alone which route to ride out of a thousand courses. It’s fair to say that I’m already unlikely to run out

Of new places to ride, but Ruby tells us that the number of routes is set to keep growing, but the introduction of new routes over the next few months, we’ve caught wind of 11 new routes so far, including Devil’s Tower National Monument in Wyoming, em De La Bonnet, which is a regular feature

Of the Tour de France am Majorca’s famous pug majeure climb, presumably so I can bonk in my garage as well as on Europe Most famous passes. The next big change is the subscription model. One of my favorite feature of Ruby is being able to link up with my mates for a group ride.

But now Ruby is taking that one step further by introducing a group subscription plan, which they say will make it easier for you to ride with friends and teammates. There’re a single duo or group plans, and if you’re lucky enough to have a whole five mates,

Then they’re a group model, which can cost as little as five pounds a month. Provided everyone pays their share. For those who have previously encountered frustrations with Ruby due to technical issues, the latest update promises leave a much more positive impression. But don’t take our word for it.

Why not take on the free trial? Anyone can take advantage of the 14 day free trial, but if you use the voucher code in the description of this video before the end of January, then you can have a whole month of free riding to really get to grips with the new software.

Oh, and if you’re already subscribed, then don’t worry. There won’t be any changes to your current subscription cost. One other thing I’ve noticed is that I’ve got a new bike in my garage, a virtual one, of course, to celebrate all this rebranding. Everyone now gets to ride around on a shiny

Newed, complete in the new colors. There’s even more to come throughout the indoor season, so keep your eyes peeled for many more route and updates. Which new route are you gonna be trying on Ruby? First? Let us know in the comments section down below. And as always, if you enjoyed this video,

Then don’t su don’t subscribe. Which new routes are you gonna be trying on Ruby first? Let us know in the comment section down below. And as always, if you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to hit the like button and subscribe for more content. We’ll see you soon.

    1. Big fan of Rouvy, I love the gradient graphic at the top left of the UI that makes it super easy to see what is seconds in front of you. Way better than Swift's version.

I don't ride Rouvy enough to justify a monthly subscription though. I wish they could have an option to charge a small fee per ride or something

    2. It has been a great improvement however there is one feature I used a lot in the previous version and is no longer available. Back on the days you were able to search for routes in the map. That was very useful to explore places before traveling since the name of the rides are not always aligned with the cities or countries. For example if you look for “Hawaii” you will find several rides but no information of which island the ride is or also no way to see the ride on a map before doing the ride. If they could correct that, the would be perfect for what I look for.

    3. It would be nice to see some routes from Calpe. Nowadays it's the most popular place for professional and amateur cyclists to ride the bike. So far, I only found 1 route with a video. It would be nice to see some extra routes of calpe (for example 'coll des rates', 'col de tudons'…)

    4. Wait a minute. Did I just notice in app purchases for routes, which also has a large bright yellow buy now tab in the top corner. If so then I would say this is bullshit when you are made to pay a $15US monthly subscription on top of it.

    5. This sounds more like a commercial instead of a review. Would have liked maybe a solid 10 seconds of what riding would look like rather than jumping from view to view.

    6. I left Zwift for Rouvy a couple years ago and I've never regretted it. On Zwift you're one of hundreds in close quarters on every ride..it's like rush hour in downtown on a Friday (not my thing). Rouvy is so much more like cycling outside…real life roads, climbs, gradients, buildings, cars, and scenery. On a normal outside ride I might see 10-20 other cyclists and often just enjoy the surroundings unless I have a real workout planned. That's how Rouvy is. Mostly though, I enjoy "visiting" so many other countries where I'll likely never actually ride in real life.

    7. I have been using Rouvy for years and really love the app. I can explore the world from my home when the winter enters my town. I even planned some of the summer trips based on routes I completed on Rouvy.
The most recent improvements just made the experience even better, for example the added search options save so much time for me.

    8. I started cycling three years ago and have used Zwift the last two indoor seasons. Thinking of trying Rouvy, but wondering if there are ways to hop on and do a 30 minute ride or something I'm more likely to do more often. I don't want to jump on and do an Ironman course every day. 🙂 Thanks.

    9. I still think the search facilities are not easy to navigate. It would be useful to be able to choose a country and put in a place name and ask for routes in the area. So far, and I have only been a user for a month, I have not found out how to do this

    10. Switched from Zwift to Rouvy after I was doing the same routes over and over on zwift.
With the challenges there is so much variety on Rouvy, can definitely recommend it!

I love that Rouvy gives an estimate on how long it will take you to finish the route. Very helpful and pretty accurate

    11. I have Rouvy for two years now and the videos, for me as a hobby rider are great. I would recommend it to anyone in a similar situation. However, I would advise the following. If joining Rouvy make sure that you cancel the auto-renewal bit in the payments section. Most places where auto-renewal is used do inform you in advance when a payment is due and will be taken. Rouvy don't. The first time you will know that a payment has been taken is when they send you a receipt. At the start of 2023 I did on the Rouvy website cancel my auro-renewal. A few days ago I received a receipt for £144.00. They had taken that from my account with no warning and could have put my bank account into overdraft. Beware. I have tried to contact Rouvy to sort it out but no success. Once they have the money they vanish. Also, cancel the auto-renewal bit on paypal if appropriate.

    12. In my previous comment I said that £129.09 had been taken from my bank account without warning. I forgot to mention that the price between 2023 and 2024 had increased from £113.45 to £129.09. That's 14% !! I suspect that a lot of people might well have thought that the new price was too high and decided to cancel. Rouvy keeps that option from them.

    13. Bring on the competition!
That said, I really don't see the feature set of Rouvy overcoming the inertia of users on Zwift who have 'leveled' and invested thousands of hours into the platform.

Just like Windows, other OS's have better feature sets, but sheer inertia made Windows the absolute juggernaut of PCs.

    14. I joined Rouvy recently. I like the UI and the scenery, and the absence of "bridge the gap" messages that can't be turned off. I'm having some difficulty with the companion app. It is not syncing with my laptop where I'm running/watching Rouvy from. Tried reinstalling and so far I don't know what is wrong. Apart from this all good so far.

    15. Used (and loved) the "original" Rouvy and used it during winter training to ride thru Europe and explore new cities. Dropped it when the weather improved enough to ride outside but signed up again when the "new" version came out. But, after four rides with three screen freezes mid-ride, I decided the "new" Rouvy wasn't quite ready for prime time and I'm back to Zwift (which I hate because of the lack of realism and 2nd rate computer graphics). Fix the bugs and I'll be back (again).

    16. If Zwift progress in the UI stuff and implement the possibility to upload GPX files it will be hard to beat them. With the new Zwift Hub One you have also virtual shifting which is damn good. The realistic graphic is not that big game changer in my opinion. Some people do like it more but many just don't care. The gamification aspect in zwift is also a big motivation to sit on the bike every day, which is good. And you see that it works. There are like more than 3000 users logged in on a monday early morning.

    17. One of Zwift's biggest advantages – if you're that way inclined – is the huge number of races staged by the platform. The buzz of competition is pretty much always available.

    18. There a still lots of problems to solve by their development they stay far behind the UI developers. They can’t keep up.
Lots of users complain about lots of things that don’t work correctly or not at all..
