Classic highlights as Sergio Bianchetto and Giuseppe Beghetto of Italy win the men’s 2000m tandem cycling gold at the Rome 1960 Olympic Games.

For those not used to the sport, track cycling races can present a surprise when racers start the race at a very slow speed. Those crucial moments help shape a race, as it’s where the tactical positioning might be crucial for a cyclist’s strategy.

If those moves already seem complex for a racer, in a tandem bicycle it requires even more effort, to both read the situation and react simultaneously with your partner.

At the Rome 1960 Olympic Games, it was the Italian team – with Sergio Bianchetto and Giuseppe Beghetto – who was able to combine such skills and win the Olympic gold medal in the Men’s 2000 metres tandem.
