    Definitives
    ———————————-
We’re interested in definitive designs which are either of low mintage or shouldn’t be in our change. Britannia was the definitive design from 1997-2008 and Shield is the definitive design from 2008 onwards.

For Britannia, 2008 is a lower minted year which some people keep. Any year after 2008 would be an NIFC.

For Shield, 2009-11, 2016, 2018, and 2021 are NIFC years, while 2017 is a lower minted year. There’s also a 2022 shield (tooth-fairy) which has a privy mark on the reverse.

In 2023, the Atlantic Salmon became the definitive design and an unknown number have been circulated. The NIFC version has a privy mark on the obverse.

    What Else?

Let’s have a quick look at the book to see which designs were still after on page one Q Gardens the rarest 50p in circulation page two is complete on page three we’ve got a couple more Olympics we have shooting and Taekwondo and then after that we have everything thing up

To including the king’s coronation and our first find of the day is in the first bag it’s go guiding just check this one 2010 that’s the original circulating year it was restruck in 2019 to celebrate 20 year uh 50 years of the 50p and it wouldn’t be found in your change

A very nice we have an NHS there from 1998 that one is definitely a keeper there’s a people act very common one Speaking of common there’s a Peter Rabbit from 2017 it’s the second most common commemorative 50p you can find the Benjamin bunny from the same set clco Commonwealth Games There’s a queen’s Memorial Coin then we have a padding at the tower don’t keep the 2019 Paddington and there’s a Pride there’s Paddington at the Cathedral that’s the other 2019 Paddington and here we have a 2016 we’re hoping for jera Puddle Duck it’s not it’s Mrs Tiggy Winkle we have an old favorite coming up there’s diversity that’s the one that we find the most on the channel Another King Charles it’s another Memorial coin another Paddington at the Tower I’m going to start this bag off with a Scouts again one of these ones that was restruck in 2019 2007 that’s the correct circulating year Another Paddington of the Cathedral the diversity hello diversity diversity really let us down in the uh Christmas Carol challenge though so naughty diversity 2006 that’s the original circulating GE on this one that’s the VC Awards was quite a shiny one I had a chance of being a 2019 another Peter Rabbit from 2017 and this is the last bag of the hunt okay I’m going to double check all the coins now and make sure I didn’t miss anything the first time round for Shields I’m looking for years 2009 10 11 16 17 18 and anything from 2020 onwards

And I’ll post back in a few seconds with what I find okay I finished checking through all the coins and I did find one Shield of Interest this one’s from 2017 that’s a low minted year on the shields only 1.8 million of them were circulated I also found a couple of 2020 Shields

Nothing remarkable about uh remarkable about them I’m just uh keeping track of them cuz they seem to be going into circulation at the moment and then looking back at the hunt itself pretty skinny today I think we got two keepers got that 2017 shield and the NHS thank
