We’re back in the Forest of Dean for some Downhill racing! The race organisers had added some fresh sections of track and it was beyond slippy – so funny to watch but so tough to ride! I chose the enduro bike once again – maybe a downhill bike would have had more grip… we’ll never know! MTB race scene in the UK is a buzz!

Trust me this one’s a stinker to the belly race day after a lovely night in The Fountain inn we’re in the forest Adine again which means it’s mini downhill time A downhill race on a short course we did one a few weeks ago which is the first

Downhill race I’ve done in ages since then we’ve done the Barcelona trip on the big downhill bike and we’re back in the forest sine for some more DH I’ve got the Ura bike with me in the back of the van going to head over to the track

Get the bike set up get the number board have another look at the track and get practice underway but I know that is a spicy track that put some new sections in there’s a lot of roots coming up through the root bed it’s going to be slippy 2° 2°

DS we’re back we’re back and nothing’s changed what are you doing everything put Fork pressure leave a position big crash yesterday and give her a wipe down and then we’ll go look at the Trap cool doing my turn what number are you two number two I think it’s fair to say that

Downhill is not dead we’re here at mini downhill look how many people there are I just stole that line from DS thanks mate yeah cool last we’re off tires feel a bit soft all right they’re looking for you oh good yeah got caught up a bit I know go and try that high

Low little tickle down the top section and then this bit there’s a middle line over loads of routs a high high line you have to jump up a step two and then there’s this low which is looking like the race line but these routes on the exit is so

Slippery just one practice run though so we’re going to have a bit of warm up low and then start mixing these lines up with daks and see which is fastest I can’t really go on daks God what start times ice at the right now we got

The liks of joh O Jones Ben squeaking be that’s so slippy oh man so hard to race Bo what you think of this bit well it’s the main line isn’t it but the rut isn’t really a r anymore it’s it’s gone gone I don’t mean there’s another option though

No that is the only option now and then I caught a lad here but I went all the way wide and it was rubbish so back to the dive in thoughts yes it’s bit chaotic yeah is it Mega middle section scratching our heads but I think that bottom you cannot push at

All before you slipping and it’s a weird feeling trying to push on at race Pace when you want to be on the edge of the grip but that edge is so early it’s been a while since a root track like this dakes up there stressing sh away he was pulling

Away I won’t be the first won’t be the last between the stumps from right up top kind of like turning more like sort of like another 3 m up and then just like straight lining and making our little Tuni I like that line at the end a you a good one I thought he’s gone offline he’s like that is the line I’ll keep it no one saw it at this Buzz the buzz at the races Chris Watkins Chris Watkins can you head up the course for me please one second

Johnny Jones hello mate hello famous famous brother of Matt Jones you’re my favorite one cuz you’re here how you get on so are you yeah I’m good good Buzz I keep crashing stop crashing on your right so that’s practice over it was super messy following de I had to crash

Into that tree bang my leg up a bit but it’s just so hard to get on the edge of the tire feel like you’re on the edge of the grip it happens so early like I’ve said but there’s people on the track making it happen DS was pulling away I

Think it’s going to be a good race between us and before we go racing for two race runs I want to thank surf shark for sponsoring this video surf shark are a VPN provider a virtual private Network now why would you want that well it masks your activity online and with a

Racing racing has begun Yo that time on for that GT Fury downhill Bik all right thoughts there he is Good Vibes and we’re doing one run coffee I got a bit down 103 one of the fastest times I set that up for you this r proper this like the step section before the Fire Road step step step step step

You can double them you’ve done it before haven’t you DS yeah you can actually double them but the problem you’ve got well actually they’ve made it easier now but there used to be more of a def sort of defined defined I said de defined ledge and ends up clipping the

Back wheel and face PL at the Fire Road never good so we won’t do that anymore w’t do that and there’s no need today there you can see lit and the fire is so slippy to turn on you don’t want all that speed yeah you don’t need that speed you can

Do all your break in here and then set you up nice for the next section Bo I say we’re both breaking too much aren’t we yeah we are top five pectorals are looking very large feel them no fill it out all right see you in a bit go on to the belly hey

[Applause] know Jones right for pro F tuing into that b there looking real good on the inside there Jones cross 105 10 on the split not quite the fastest time of the game so far but I Darren EV taking that High Line getting a little bit loose to the bottom corner here Darren EV second oh still blowing let’s watch DS regroup go DS Oh Come yes yes Mr Ben squeaking B cross in the line there with a 106 31 you look good there mate you got this

Bottom B so good you nearly hit your head on the tree did yeah you seen people cuz the the uh that’s the hardest the timing beams people like diving off out the we like we’ve been practicing going up high thinking the Finish Line was there and we’ve realized actually

The line is on the corner like the line’s got to change the dream would be if you actually going to win you go full and end up in the uh cabin in the burger van in the burger van that’s and on that now it’s lunch time let’s get

It cheers kids Burger I swear I said to you can you please get some Savory light heier you said to get something light and I thought this is quite a lot lighter than an adult’s meal what a guy rain raining is it boys yeah it 1 today happy birthday to you happy birthday

Dear Happy Birthday to You positivity with the rain outside Happy Birthday Josh sad got it the mud has arrived all right hello different track now isn’t It that amazing perfect yeah yeah [Applause] Jacob wow oh W brilliant the the final run so I haven’t addressed the results yet but I’m currently setting for four decks is Fifth and then. 25 I think puts me in second but it’s a completely different track now I don’t think anyone’s going to go any

Faster so the results May stand so I think when de gets up here we’ll have to have a little side bit a run to wet race who will win the wet track but this top bit will run fast I think the mud’s actually thinner it’s just those bottom turns where everyone’s

Screaming laughing and I’m probably going to be the subject of that now so bring it on race run number two mini downhill ler washes the bikes yeah you ready to wash them now we going to what oh dog ball sorted got on [Applause] Mate just about cross theine what have you got 108 94 the split what wild run thir place how are you you’re good I wonder know result dar’s crashed Daren Evans come on last coule oh gets caught up another [Applause] Rider oh come on then Luke Luke takes the that track was

Different going to check out in the wet race who won out of me and DS and therefore who has to was the bike I’m so to get down clean on that run very exciting UK racing scores on the doors ended up fourth second run though 108 DS 109 already yeah on get [Laughter]

It you’re faster than D so without any G technique DS isn’t going to clean my bike cuz he won’t get it properly clean but we’ve had a brilliant weekend haven’t we generally had a real good time we said to ourselves at lunch that we really need

To and of course we need to cuz we love it that much you are right it was actually well fun there’s no way the second runs were going to be faster three 3 to 5 Seconds generally that much slower yeah but nonetheless we dropped in and loved it it was actually sick the

Crowd at the bottom was really cool and we both had Fairly clean runs in the wet when the pressure was on was sick and I enjoyed racing against you and we came fourth and fifth which do you know what’s good about that we get to go home

Now we go home done and I’ll clean my bike properly when I get home thanks G technique see you in the next one to the belly

    1. Yeah Jono love these Little mini DH races everyone don’t care about time it’s just about having fun and beating you’re meats like ben for example. 😂😂 as demonstrated by Jono at 6:05 a Lesson for the kids never turn on wet roots

    2. We thought it was dying back in the late 90s when there were three times as many racers in the 30-40 year old class as the 18-30 year old class. But it just bloomed like a flower and now we have everyday riders shredding like the pros of the 90s. Bravo to all you riders these days. You make me happy just watching you pick the right lines and exude confidence. I love where mountain biking has gone. It surpassed my wildest dreams

    3. I loved the nasty root sections when I raced. I believed it gave me an advantage because I was low fitness racer weekend warrior so I would excel in the nastiest of conditions because that's what I trained for. My riding team mate and I built a world class training course in a town park that nobody knew about and we could train making 6 runs an hour. We mastered every technical aspect of DH including a bunny hop over a 12 foot wide creek, LOL Clatter Valley would be an awesome race
