Maybe legs aside, road cyclists are certainly not known for having muscles. Bodybuilders on the other hand, are all about strength and massive muscles. You could say that bodybuilders and cyclists are polar opposites. Well then, what would happen if a bodybuilder went head-to-head with a cyclist? Hank and Ollie met champion bodybuilder Brad Parker for some challenges!

    1. I (avid cyclist) trained with a powerlifter, (I.E. different gravy from bodybuilding) and got my leg press up to 1000lbs pretty easily. BTW never lock your knees straight (like you did in this video) when leg pressing- you can blow out your knees backward easily when you are near your limit, there are vids of people doing exactly that. Keep them slightly bent. Anyway my point was I was easily able to make incredible gains in powerlifting on legs and back because of years of cycling, but was anemic in gains on my upper body even with a world record holder trainer professional training me. I was able to train fast twitch muscle fibers in my legs to gain in explosive power as a result and because I did so many sets (10+) and reps(10-50) with heavy weight and was able to get endurance with the power as well. There are gains to be had as a cyclist in powerlifting but genetics, form and nutrition put a glass ceiling on your top peak ability ultimately IMO.

    2. These are two totally different disciplines. It is good to see one trying the other! On a bike, all that muscle weight is a disadvantage.

    3. Reminds me of a Scottish games event I visited. They had a tug-of-war between a bunch of bodybuilders and a bunch of beer-belly, cigar smoking Scotsmen. It was a draw for a few minutes then the Scots got bored and yanked the bodybuilders across the line.

    4. I feel like Brad could have finished the climb some minutes earlier had somebody explained him how a bike's gears work and that you sometimes have to stand up and pedal

    5. that was funny stuff guys! and just shows sport specificities eh? how about squash professional v tennis professional v cycling professional in terms of vo2 or 400-800m sprints on track and on the bike?

    6. I wish all bodybuilders could experience something like this. Every Bodybuilder is talking about how hard the sport is. Do some cardio sport, then you know what hard is 😊

    7. gym fit but road useless….but thats bodybuilders, people think they are fit but all they do i meander round a gyym posing and building muscle which is no good for extended sports such as running and cycling…..fit bikes, zwift etc etc are no comparison for the road itself……

    8. I don't like this video. I came to see a big bulky man on a bike. But most of this was just body type comparisons and my adhd can't handle that

    9. This wasn't fair! A time trial on the flat would be more honest or even sprinting competition. Brad was defeated by the sheer mass of his musculature.

    10. Useless muscles. Saw 3 body builders hopping into the 50 pool, like windmills for 25 meters, then they all died, no stamina at all. Useless

    11. So I'm confused, he says he "does A lot of cardio" but he hasn't been on a bike in 6years…I'm pretty sure he doesn't run….
So what cardio does he do….?

    12. A bit of technique goes a long way, and progression is very fast for beginners. I bet he could get that down to 7 minutes or less with some heal down pedal round and more time in the saddle.
