Since we moved to Germany, we have filled up our gas tank FOUR TIMES less than we did in the USA! What?! Unheard of in the USA, where most people fill up their tanks 1-2 times a week. This is sustainable; this is what we need for the future.

We don’t use our car very much there’s plenty of  weeks where it’ll sit for multiple days and never   get driven think we’re averaging somewhat less  than once a month to fill up the gas tank which

Is you know for an american and we had two cars  and we were filling at least one of them up every   week yeah and the other one every couple weeks so  yeah so definitely we’re walking more we’re biking

More the kids are taking public transportation  to go to school you know the next town over   definitely we’re encouraged more to be active and  be out there biking and walking and using public   transportation instead of relying on the car so  much and what i love is having exercise as a part

Of everyday life that i don’t have to schedule  extra time at the gym or go to a gym i want my   daily life to include exercise it’s so much more  sustainable it’s so much easier to do and it’s

Enjoyable for the most part we take the bicycle  or walk into town to do the things we need to do

  1. Sara, which type of car will you get for yourself once the hassle with the drivers licence is done?a nice two-seater convertible for zipping up and down the winding mountain roads?

  2. Bei den Kinderfahrrädern müssen Sitze und Lenker höher gestellt werden !! Man fährt immer mit gestreckten Beinen Fahrrad !!!! So wie hier ist das Radfahren viel zu schwer .

  3. This is of course very un-German
We also call our mechanics car doctors
Most Germans have a very emotional relationship with their vehicles and it doesn't matter what brand or how old the car is, we also give our cars names.

  4. That's one of the reasons we sold our car in 2018. We've been living since then without a car. Given our children are older than yours, but it has been a great decision for us.
