Are you a foreign student considering your studies in Slovakia? You will be definitely interested to know more about part-time job opportunities. In this video, Sayantan Roy and Peter Zavacky discussed not only part-time jobs, salaries, or contract types for students, but also how Slovakia might be a magnet for foreign workers in the next decade.
Slovakia will need a qualified labor force for companies related to the automotive, IT, or manufacturing industry, that’s why students in these fields might have really good chances for getting full-time jobs in their major.

I can see currently there’s like big demand for qualified workers like both  qualified and unqualified if we would be actually like giving you insights  as of 2024 there’s like how much you can make as well from each of these jobs for  students because they see some money and it’s really good money obviously Â
It’s in Euro so they completely dedicate themselves to some work and then ignore study hello and welcome to study in Slovakia today we are going to cover a much a topic  which is about parttime jobs there’s a very common question almost in every video we have Â
Some comment or you know someone who’s planning to study in Slovakia or international student  always has this question what are the part-time jobs what are the available Scopes how much can  I make from there can I manage my living expenses so today we have Mr Peter with us Mr Peter thank Â
You so much for joining the video thank you also but I think you will be the person with  more experience than about the part and you’re the person with the connections regarding part  part time jobs because I expect like people are reaching out to you regarding parttime jobs mostly Â
They they do I can share my experience and we can then compare yeah sure so we will be diving deep  into it what are the different different options and can you actually rely completely on part-time  jobs when you’re moving abroad so this is going to be obviously focused on Slovakia but there is Â
Also a general story in Europe in general for international students so can you make it in  Europe can you like for example sustain a life in Europe just based on the parttime jobs along with  your university studies so without further Ado let’s get in the video so Mr Peter starting first Â
Things first like what are the like available jobs um I would like to classify some of those which  I personally know and I see many of my friends working there even when we were students we were  doing the same so there is obviously some jobs which are commonly available and you know easily Â
Accessible for anyone something like deliveries which is done by foodora food Panda bolt volt  then V and so on yeah and and also taxis regarding it so it can be like taxi driver or like delivery  operator with a bicycle this is generally very easy to break in and that’s one of my insight Â
That I find it’s obviously like there are two options how you can join it one is you become  a so Proprietor in which case you can maybe give a some insight I guess we don’t have to change Â
Visa in that case right as a student you can also run business so either so proprietorship or yeah  so we can actually be students and like we can still for example run as a proprietor and uh we Â
Can do as a as proprietary it takes about 7 days or maximum like two weeks to like set up this and  you’re good to go the other option is there are some third party providers third party agencies uh Â
That are they online available when you submit the form in any of these applications uh that will cut  a certain percentage of commission that might lie something around like 15 to 20% around 177% many Â
Of times uh that is going to cut this commission and then going to pay you the RIS in that case  you don’t have to do a uh manual registration and everything for your business the difference what Â
Happens is generally when you start your business you might have to do your get your accountant have  your tax filing obviously pay for your insurance and everything comes with it but when you’re like  doing it under like some agency you generally don’t have to do these parts because the Â
Accountant lawyer and everything is done by the agency itself so it’s generally a combination of  four the other is obviously there are restaurants now as an Indian I can say there are many Indian  restaurants also like if you’re coming somewhere from Asia there might be many irrelevant and you Â
Might have a community there so do reach out to your local restaurant or something this might be  a very good place for you to build a community and from there you you might find actually like the Â
Majority chances are you might find some part-time jobs from there like that is a general Trend any  country that students are going restaurants are like whether like it is servers whether  it is for example kitchen helpers it’s generally like easy job to have at first uh obviously the Â
Uh like pay uh varies from like the delivery to this thing well for the delivery one thing what  is very important is you need to have a bike or Bicycle for that it costs you like Max let’s say Â
50 to1 to buy a secondhand bike we will provide the link in the description for a website called  basos which sells these sort of secondhand bikes and everything that might be relevant for you and  you can quickly like purchase from there once you’re like good to go with this then there is Â
Another option if you have a little more money is taxis or for example commercial vehicles but for  in that case you actually need uh driving license from your uh native country you need to recognize  it here change it to the European license it is a little bit of paperwork firstly secondly you might Â
Need to uh purchase a car as well you can rent it as well but generally purchasing car is not  very expensive if you buy a secondhand car here so this is one other way that you can do now Mr Peter Â
Will give us some insight about uh doing some jobs that is relevant to your industry this is  something you can do for survival it means like you will obviously have the money for your food  your accommodation your uh let’s say extra party and everything uh this is generally enough for it Â
And obviously this is something that you can have throughout the year but there are also jobs which  is very important for you to progress in your career which is actually going to take you through  the career path and you know push you to the full-time jobs that you’re actually uh studying Â
For your um you know opting for so Mr Peter give us some insight about uh these sort of internships  or training ships that actually guide you take you through when you’re univers in University  and lands you a job eventually MH so first of all I would definitely suggest students who Â
Are in the final year of studies uh you can also opt for option to if you select your topic for  The Bachelor thesis or Master thesis you can also select in which company uh you wish to have it for Â
Example students can go to various mechanical or economical companies and they can on on on spots  they can then do some research on in relevant topic okay uh and even then the local company will  see that there’s some Talent person who can maybe be um collaboration who can then collaborate with Â
Them in the in the future yeah so each faculty of mechanical engineering automobile engineering  or economics they already have some lists of Partners and this Partners will then give topics  uh which they wish wish to research okay so then simply you just reach out to your contact Point Â
Who is like your thesis um thesis uh supervisor supervisor and he will tell what are your options  okay that’s pretty great and this actually opens firstly your research is very strong in that case  uh and secondly you probably end up with a job after that there’s also chance that you when Â
You’re studying I personally did it as well uh and many other students did it so uh when you’re  studying you might end up in an internship which is relevant to your industry for examp example  Mr Peter is now collaborating and helping many students uh to get land a job in Garrett one of Â
The automobile parts producer here in Slovakia prominent one so give us some insight how to end  up in such sort of a job how do students find and who is the person they should contact regarding Â
The same yes so G before it was called hanal like they are big producers of automobile parts so in  this case in the factory which we collaborate with uh they produce store boo Chargers or how  they call it TC my Rec knowledge if you have seen FAS and Furious that’s the thing turbo Â
Chargers yeah with a l gas paddle so basically they do this this is for basically any comp any  car uh you can imagine and their procedures are excellent so it’s like not only to get money but Â
Also experience so this uh company they we have some connections with them via the faculty of me  Tech engineering and faculty of um Manufacturing Technologies in at Technical University K so they  contact us then we give them a list of students who would like to come for the entry um test okay Â
And those students who pass the test will be then offered place okay so what you can imagine uh is  that you do assembly of the of the turbochargers or you can do the quality checkups okay of these Â
Of these mechanical parts uh so there are eight hour shifts and uh you can then um get even the  allowance for the food and also some uh additional payment for traveling generally this brings me to  a question because people are mostly comparing like how much do I spend for living expenses Â
Versus how much can I make so what is the general return you don’t have to say the exact number but  what’s the approximate number as of 2024 that’s like per hour paid not necessarily from G but Â
Any relevant ch to the industry mhm I would say it would start maybe at4 per one hour okay uh if you  really have some experience in it or uh in some specific ELD like accounting economics or any of Â
These like depends from company to company it can lay up to what scale it can okay in it it can even  be like 2030 EUR per hour but that’s very typical case yeah yeah uh but I would say maybe for the Â
Starting training positions can be seven 78 yeah 7 8 is like a general Trend the other thing is also  uh we would be actually like giving you insights as of 2024 this like how much you can make as well Â
From each of these jobs so you have some idea how much you can expect from there and based on that  you can plan your abroad studies so even from the jobs that we previously mentioned for example like  deliveries and um like working in restaurants so for deliveries um in general uh per delivery Â
You make in Slovakia about €2.5 to3 that’s per delivery charge you don’t have any gas expenses  because you mostly biking around in the city and in an hour on uh on an average you can do two to Â
Four deliveries so it means somewhat around 5 to 10 so let’s say about 6 7 is the normal  one the other thing is how often do you work so it’s completely when you’re working in delivery Â
Or something like this it’s completely on you so how often you work depends uh on that how much you  make on an average what we have seen the people who do like let’s say every week few hours just to Â
Like meet their expenses they can make something around like 5600 a month the people who really  do it like uh long hours almost every day want to do as much possible they can even make upwards of  ,500 ,600 as well from the same and obviously after that there are expenses like insurance Â
And uh you know like taxes and all of that that’s apart from this then if you’re like driving taxis  uh it can be something if it’s in your your own car you can make something around even €2,000 then Â
There are expenses like your gas your car rental if you it’s not your car your uh car insurance and  all of that are deduced from there and if you’re working in a restaurant it should be something  around a similar range which is four five6 per hour that’s the general Trend another thing what Â
We wanted to uh mention as well and Mr Peter was touching upon was actually this industrial  relevant research and University work so there are also options that you might end up in um apparent  ship which is like especially if you’re in finers of master or if you’re a PhD student you might Â
Requireed to give some lectures to like Bachelor students or Junior students or the other option is  you might be involved in some research work in the University itself this pays you as well something  around 5 to10 EUR depending on your specialization depending on the industry and uh obviously one of Â
The major source uh from experience uh what’s like relevant to get a job is to be in good touch with  your professors supervisors and uh all of the academic stuff because they generally have very  good touch throughout um every industry and you know like once you graduate then you’re pushing Â
Your professor to find you a job or like asking him this is actually not a good practice it’s  better to keep a good relation throughout the study involv in his research work show  your interest his or her research work show your interest and everything and eventually you can can Â
Ask like okay I’m looking for some opportunity do you have some contacts and there are many students  many friends I know who actually ended up in jobs or like part-time work from this similar practice Â
And this is actually like a a good practice now we will be jumping in general to uh about like the  study versus work so can you actually like study and work so Mr Peter give us some idea about like Â
Can people actually study after studies do they have time you are like dealing with hundreds of  students on a daily level so two people have time after studies to work well I would say  General answer is yes it’s possible but specific answer for some study courses I cannot imagine Â
People working like medicine medicine that hist okay Pharmacy maybe no but veterinary medicine  I can imagine yeah these are like really like uh dedicated courses academically so you won’t have  like much time after that if you do like hats off to you but yeah it’s generally like hard Â
But with other courses which are like engineer ing economics and you know like marketing business and  all of this it should be relevant yeah definitely because um this technical or economical Fields  they are based on more self-independence okay so it means like you maybe have eight to 10 classes Â
A week uh which can maybe opt for 10 to 15 hours but uh of the net classes but on other hand you’re  expected to study on your own also that’s very important so not only like definitely will cope Â
With that but like you also need to take your studies into consideration that you need to pass  exam because if you are expelled then there are some consequences which you don’t wish to oh yeah  because uh keep in mind one thing that you’re actually coming here um in as an international Â
Student to study so that needs to be your primary goal no matter what many times what happens is  like students because they see some money and it’s really good money obviously it’s in Euro  so uh they completely dedicate themselves to some work and then ignore studies and then want to move Â
To work but the thing is if you don’t complete the education you wouldn’t have like industry relevant  and well paying job for uh for the instantaneous moment it might look very good money but for the  long run it’s not so it’s better you finish your studies in the meantime get experience and then Â
Move to like some full-time good jobs that should be a good practice in general and uh what we see  or when I was a student as well uh the general trend is you work somewhat from like Monday to Â
Th uh you study from Monday to Thursday Fridays you have generally like some optional subjects  or physical education or something like this so you can say Friday Saturday Sunday you’re mostly  free and definitely evenings you are free in the general uh universities and general uh courses Â
So you should be available in the evening to work you should be available during the weekend  to work uh depends on uh where you find your your opportunity we had a few friends also we will link Â
A video to vaj one of our close friends he was uh studying from Monday to Thursday in koset and was  traveling uh 5 hours by train to brattis laava to work during the weekend and that is many people Â
Do that because uh maybe they have more relevant opportunities there uh but yeah you can work in  Bratislava or you can work in kosit wherever you find more relevant opportunities nowadays what’s  also prominent and coming up is like home office so if you have like some experience before coming Â
Uh to uh Slovakia you might I also find some home of office relevant uh opportunities as well and uh  how do you see like the scope uh of work after like they finish some uh University do you see Â
Like people have more chances of getting or Landing in a job after uh if they have some  internships yeah definitely I can see currently there’s like big demand for qualified workers  like both qualified and unqualified especially in technical Fields so definitely in it that’s Â
Uh very easy to get then in mechanical uh there are like multiple companies that give uh even to  English speakers uh jobs I can may be named siga M intis and NRA then this G they also told me Â
That they will start hiring English speaking rits uh so then there are some Indians who work in P  Volkswagen so then also land Jaguar exactly that was my uh that was my idea because company under  Tata it’s under Tata so basically the workers who it’s inra inra company inra company shift Â
So I think 200 250 workers are now in in a in um it’s in also no uh yes it’s in so and there is  obviously like automobile in general is a very large field and it is very growing field in uh Â
Slovakia so these two um Industries you should uh find relevant job opportunities like uh or Rel  to these two industries there is Continental Tire company for example and several we have  some videos we will link it also to seula with the HR there with the country manager there to Â
They explain like how the recruitment process goes what are the requirements and all of these  details regarding it and yeah also you we have some personal contact of theirs over there so  you can actually personally reach out to their personal email and write them send them your CV Â
So check out that video as well uh and in general if you are like at University as uh someone who  studied at University uh I can suggest you is when you’re at the final year of University um Â
When you’re actually in the initial years try to get at least one internship or one relevant  doesn’t matter about the payment more focus on the experience that you can get from there the  experience certificate that’s very uh relevant and important and when you’re in the final year Â
Of University do look for internships and traine ships and graduate programs there are several  companies in Slovakia and all over in Europe that offer graduate programs this is generally  from 6 months before you graduate to 6 months after you graduate that’s like the eligibility Â
Criteria proor and gramble um Swiss re uh dell all of these companies even Amazon are offering these  graduate programs and this is generally for one to two years duration where you work in multiple  departments then you realize which particular Department you like and you have good salary Â
Anyway the salary is pretty standard so then after that you have a more relevant uh industry and you  grow from there so it’s a very good pathway but to be specific these are very competitive so there  are obviously like the local candidates there are candidates with like uh language abilities Â
That they might be specialized in uh in Europe so if you’re only speaking English it might be  very competitive for you but the good part is you need to like the catches you should apply Â
To as as many um opportunities as possible because if you can end up in one of the graduate programs  uh the career Prospect from there is really good oh okay maybe here I will ask question because Â
You mention like it’s really competitive so when we speak maybe uh if we speak in numbers what do  you consider to be competitive in like how many applicants would you find competitive in slowakia  companies how many do you find in Indian companies okay so that is something you really cannot uh Â
Like compare I’ll tell you the okay there are a few reasons firstly in India like for let’s say  a graduate position or something uh there might be like thousands like literally thousands maybe  5,000 applicants for one particular position and there might be like you know the uh two Â
People like taken in that position or five the ratio is much uh you know much different but in  Slovakia for the same uh let’s say uh position there might be like uh 200 applicants and two  are taken in m but there is a difference over there that if you’re a non-european candidate Â
You don’t have hold a European passport and you don’t speak the local language so there is like  uh more priority given because of the language and everything directly to uh the local candidate at  first and also because of the work permit and the Visa process and everything around it it’s Â
More priority given to someone local and then the priority is given to you so you have to already  believe it that your application is uh you know um ranked a little lower because you don’t have  the language local language or multiple language abilities firstly because in Europe people mostly Â
Speak multiple languages not only one that’s the first thing and the second thing is you don’t hold  a passwort so it means the company that hires you or gives you the sponsorship they have to do a  full Visa process which might take like somewhat around 3 to six months long process to change Â
Your residence card and everything and this is something that the HRS are very concerned about in  general so so for that reason it is is competitive uh as an international student uh but yeah uh  the best is if you can have a recommendation and recommendations are possible from people like uh Â
Mr Peter uh for uh from professors from someone uh you know from University who you can have a good  touch with and has good uh relevant connection with the uh companies uh we had a discussion a few Â
Weeks back with the vice Dean Mr Yan bueta from uh uh Professor Yan from economics faculty from  Technical University and he for example finds like many relevant opportunities for his International  students he’s mostly going out on this industrial trips and he comes back and mostly offers it to Â
Uh the international students English speakers so he customized it completely for international  students so generally like keeping a good touch with your professors with your uh Dean  and everyone who is academically involved to you is a good idea and initially obviously uh you can Â
Start with bolt VA any of the part time work this is going to sustain you for some time uh  then eventually move uh to those we will link every uh job portal like uh that are relevant  in Slovakia in the description but to mention one of the most prominent one is professia uh Â
Professia has thousands of job uploaded every day starting from your part-time jobs to nanny jobs to  let’s say CEO level jobs everything is there in professia so you should find there are even jobs  which don’t even require you to submit a CV so you can just straight away go and without a CV Â
Just submit your phone number and write a message and uh that goes and the more you apply it’s a  number game so the more you apply the more you have chances to find out there is obviously the Â
General ones for example like um the like Linkin and glass floor and all which is more relevant for  applying to jobs from other countries or remote work and obviously like if you’re expert in some  particular field like you’re a frontend developer or you’re a marketer or something like this you Â
Have some previous experience you’re coming to study Masters in that case you might also  want to open a uh freelancer account something in upwork Fiverr uh these sort of websites where you  can have some freelancing clients and show even like the Slovak clients that uh you know you’re Â
Doing some relevant work and get some clients from there so these are the different income  sources but in general what we would see uh on an average like uh compared to the living expenses  in Slovakia how much would you say a student uh living normally know like a standard life Â
Would spend living in a dmetry living in dmetry I would say 300 if he doesn’t smoke and drink too much okay that’s a that’s a very important disclaimer do not smoke and drink too much Â
But okay like 3 to 500 is something you can expect like uh in a month to spend and this  income for sure with any of the parttime shops you should be uh able to find out um able to Â
Generate uh but yeah uh there are more Scopes there is more opportunity and eventually when  you move to full-time ones you can make much more uh money than this so uh anything else you would Â
Like to add for our viewers yeah so I would say um I would like to make also one note because  like things they keep changing in time so yes at currently as you said like the getting like Â
Resident permit for job it’s quite difficult uh doing things properly uh to work here it’s quite  difficult but um like the current prospects um like soaka it’s aging country uh and there  are like many companies mechanical companies automobile companies uh remote censors and Â
So on so these companies they will be forced to hire someone if they don’t want to close themsel  yeah so it’s expected that approximately 100,000 people will retire by two 2013 oh wow 56 years so  this compan is basically will have either chance to adapt or to like stop working so I’m pretty Â
Sure that also the rules for incoming workers both qualify not qualify will change rapidly  yeah next year because basically if you have like retire people like you need to pay their healthare  pensions and so on and for that you need uh like workers and of course like taxpayers taxpayers and Â
Of course like I can imagine these people would be still to come TOA to work so it’s just matter  of few months to years until the immigration rules will change rapidly absolutely uh but I would like Â
To mention one thing over here uh which might be relevant that is uh generally if you’re coming uh  in Europe already to study to find a job settle in for a job is much easier than if you have a phone Â
Number that is relevant to the phone ID code in um Slovakia or any of the European countries it  means you are already Rec iding here your Visa processing should be much easier Visa residence  card processing should be much easier in that case what they do is like they instantly respond to you Â
They go through the normal application process normal recruitment process and everything whereas  if you are applying from India or you’re applying from China or any other country it’s a complete  Visa process it means you have to go and submit your documents in the embassy over there then Â
You come here change your residence card to sorry your visa to the residence card and all of this it  means in general it’s a like you know it goes as a rejection you might even have seen it when you Â
Apply on LinkedIn on any or any website they ask you that are you eligible to work in this country  you put yes you need a sponsorship of the this country when you put yes it’s generally the ads Â
Itself like throws a rejection on you so that’s why if you’re planning to study or if you’re  working now in some other country plan your study in Europe so you can have a smooth transition to  some jobs secondly your network is much better if you actually like uh work here um and study Â
Here as well so then you have more opportunities much more uh things popping out at the same time  and uh yeah and also these connections are going to help you but uh the most important thing uh is Â
Also that uh these visas that you mentioned about in general European countries have this and you  will see plenty of reals and plenty of you know like um videos about this like Luxembourg wants  people Germany wants 7,000 people and trust me these are actually like some agency advertisement Â
And these advertisement are for specific Fields with people with specific expertise and experience  this is not in general so the general thing is it means if you work in any general field not  in these specific Fields these specific Fields can consist of for example Pharmacy can consist Â
Might be of cyber security can consist like and it has also experience level requirement it means  you are working as a cyber security developer for minimum 5 years you are working as a let’s  say automobile production engineer for minimum 3 years it might have something like this and those Â
People are required let’s say in 2,000 4,000 or 6,000 it doesn’t mean that Luxembourg or Slovakia  um Germany all of a sudden requires like 50,000 people with plenty of job it’s not it is like  only relevant to these particular fields and these are generally they portrayed are mentioned in the Â
Ministries uh websites or the labor Ministries side the high highly skilled migrant or uh this  highly demanded uh Fields but the rest are still competitive it means if you’re working  in sales marketing accounting economics Finance any of these sort of like General fields or even Â
Some of the engineering Fields as well this is like still you have to go through this process  until and unless in that particular field there is like high demand of uh labor yeah it means that uh Â
These jobs are available uh but at the same time it is very competitive but the easiest way is if  if you already move in Europe in general people who are hired from abroad are two cases one that Â
Already are here because of studies or something like family or something like this or the other  cases they have really so much experience or expertise like 10 years plus or 5 years plus  with like specific field like let’s say blockchain or something like this that is the only case that Â
They are hired and all the companies willing to wait for you to you know come to Europe and  start working other than that if you’re working in a general uh field let’s say like Finance  or let’s say like uh you know management um the general rules are that there are many applicants Â
In Europe itself that uh the company can find and they give that opportunity first so it’s better  that you come here for studies build your network and person get personal recommendations because  recommendations are the best to get uh particular job and the easiest one as well so yeah and for Â
These recommendations you have to build good connections it’s it’s not like you go straight  away ask someone from your University or from your professor that can you give me a recommendation no  one gives that so it’s better you build some uh interest show some relevance to their work you Â
Know like uh show some interest involve in it and then ask for a recommendation that’s the easiest  one so Mr Peter thank you for all this insight and hope you guys likeed the video found it useful  and it answered most of your questions with like living expenses versus part-time jobs even like Â
We uh covered a bit of this full-time jobs and uh some things regarding it as well we will be making  more videos uh regarding some updated living expenses and also some updated like job hunt Â
Methods and um job portals and all of these um in the future videos uh give us a thumbs up if you  like the video share it with someone who is now in Europe planning to uh stay in Europe looking Â
For a job in Europe this might be relevant for them planning to study as well and do comment  what are the topics you would like us to cover so thank you so much for watching and until next time
