Spanish Roadtrains, Cycle routes and Red Chard.

It’s interesting how different countries are bringing in safe cycle routes.
Spain are using Road Trains and I load Red Chard for processing.

Hello everybody welcome back if you haven’t already subscribed Please Subscribe ring the little Bell give you a thumbs up the little bell will tell you when I post again just wanted to show you this bit of Road I’ve done the delivery coming out can you see how the Spanish are

Putting these little blocks by the side of the road to um keep the cycle path or the vehicles off the cycle path and keep the Cycles away from the vehicles I think it’s a dead good idea it just as you go around the corner it just keeps everything separated I

Mean years ago I mean it’s it’s many years since I’ve been to Italy but they used to have this sort of thing on slip roads so that you had to be in the right lane and you couldn’t sort of Leave It to the last minute and dive over W they

Still have them I said I been for ages but I think this is re um a really good idea it keeps the cyclist safe and we know that they can’t just um appear right up the inside of us so what are we doing well we are going

To have 24 hours off going to go along the road here um you see this big Factory here this big um aleo Factory on the right it’s so big it has its own slip Road it’s um a meat process in place they do like um they’ve got their own slaughter house

And everything there all this all this is the same Factory here massive place they do um like sliced hams and um cook chickens and all that sort of thing anyway back to what I was saying oh this you can see here is Sierra espia I think I’m sure somebody pronounce it better than

Me so I need 24 hours off um so I’m going to park here and that Sierra spun spun I think that’s how you pronounce it um I’ve walked all up there I’ve parked here before and it’s a really nice walk up there the eagle eyed of you that have

Watched my videos before will know that I’ve we’ve been here before I went in here to load and then I had to go across the way cuz we got the wrong address was just past this garage but I’m going to park in this garage it’s just a parking

Area they’ve got a jet wash one of those overhead jet washes if you want to wash the Lorry I haven’t got time for that I need to park um but you can get a shower in the garage and there’s the hotel and the restaurant across the way nice

People in the restaurant um speak a bit of English always check to you nice people you do get um quite a few changeovers going on here so sometimes it can be a bit noisy but um it’s it’s late Friday now so I’m loading on a Saturday which is very unusual but um so

It shouldn’t be too busy at all I’ve just snipped over to the Cafe to get a cup of coffee and have a wash I like to thank everybody that’s bought me a coffee it definitely goes down well thank you so somebody local must be a driver

At this they’ve uh parked it here just left it for the weekend I don’t know what technical terms for it is if it’s a bble or whatever it’s obviously on a dolly but um we don’t have these in the UK but Spain is such a huge place they

They started having them over here even more I do like technical oldfashioned braking system definitely on both trailers to be sure to be sure morning well I had a good night’s sleep um becomes depressing when you’re waiting for the time to click over so you know you’ve had your 24

Hours it’s like I said it was dead quiet had a good sleep um it’s a bit windy uh but this a nice day it it gets cold at night though obviously because there’s no cloud cover but um we’re going to make a move now so there’s the uh Hotel there and

The one on the left is the little restaurant I don’t think they open late on a Saturday um I went in this morning and he said I think he said he opens till 4:00 so I mean if you wanted something to eat make sure you get it at

Lunchtime but they do do some nice food and some uh nice tappers now I I kind of finished late yesterday it was um it was about 4:00 yesterday afternoon so like to start at 4:00 today so stayed up I watch a bit of TV and that um CU it’s always difficult

When you finish it at that time and then you know you’ve got to start at that time so you I’ll be on nights after once I’ve loaded so you don’t want to get up too early so if you go to bed like early you get up too early you don’t want to

Get up too early cuz you’ll be tired later on so it’s um and it just means that you can’t really go anywhere cuz I love walking up this um like I said up this bit at the back um but it just means you can’t really do

That cuz it’s obviously dark or you get up early on a on Saturday today you get up early Saturday and then you’re just um tired because you’re not starting your shift till 4:00 in the afternoon or something so I it’s a lovely day but anyway hopefully we’ll get everything sorted now

It’s a beautiful scene around here it’s um always reminds me of Lord of the Rings don’t know why cuz we’re nowhere near New Zealand but just the the um I don’t know the MS are dead nice around here we need in front I haven’t never walked up but you’d have to be really

Careful cuz so it gets really cold at night and I imagine right at the top of that mountain it’s going to be cold some sort of Castle up there I wonder what that castle is see if there’s a sign going along I don’t think

So have a look at it when we come back out so we can get a better view from the other side maybe just me but I do get impressed with going through these big tunnels I’m all right as long as I’m in charge but

Like I said I can’t go on a Euro tunnel or or anything like that I need to be in charge so if I if I need to stop I can’t I know I can do but they are very impressive when you see the M of the tunnel like that

We’re coming off at this one we’re going um around the outskirts of laer this place I mean it’s Saturday today but this place is horrendously busy um during the week it shouldn’t be too bad today but um during the week There’s a couple of roundabouts and they’re just they can take you forever

To get round quite often it’s just as easy to go along the ap7 which is um further down nearer the coast it runs parallel to this one but on the coast because it’s just easier to get along that road rather than trying to get off here and go through

Loer now this used to be roundabout and they’ve built this little tunnel underneath it doesn’t look much of a tunnel but it can save you a good 20 minutes trying to get over that roundabout during the week cuz the shops there and everything and it’s just so so busy and there’s another

Little roundabout afterwards which isn’t too bad because there’s not so many shops but that roundabout used to be hateful I mean the ap7 the road is runs parallel to this one it’s got toll on it and sometimes it’s just as easy to use that than it is to try to fight your

Way around these roundabouts so I’ve not been to this place before but I’ve got an idea where it is um I know it’s sort of off this road somewhere so I’m hoping that when we get along a bit um they’re quite often put a little sign cuz it’s just uh it’s it’s

Just a farm pack house so um hopefully when we get along bit they’ll put a sign and we can we can see it but otherwise I just have to go along and then uh come back again and just um friendly Google Maps and see where we are from there

That looks interesting see on the right there there’s a big parking area there’s a restaurant over the road that might be handy for parking if I’m just um like loading the next morning I mean I don’t think you’d get a shower there but keep that one in mind and this place

Should be a long here somewhere I mean it does look like just a a pack house on a farm so um in a field basically on Google Maps so just take it steady down here couple of buildings here so if we can see a sign I’m sure it’s that here I reckon

It’s other side of these buildings right here no bit further on maybe this one sure there was some buildings uh this looks right where that car’s coming at yeah you go there you go there’s a sign there look that’s what we want that little arrow and turn by the

Sign don’t quite know what that car’s doing but we’ll let them out ready thank you so I’m presuming it’s at the back of them trees somewhere think that’s just no that’s just a house behind them trees garage or something on the left just’s follow this road up it goes

Backwards so if it’s the wrong if it’s the wrong road it’ll always go backward but there was a sign so it’s got to be up here somewhere good tip for any Farmers or any pack always put a sign oh there we go that’s what we want a big building

That’s always a good sign but always a good tip for any um Farmers or pack houses that are watching just put a little sign by the road so that we can just gives us a bit of a clue you know what I mean cuz what happens in Spain is they

Have a lot of cooperativas um so it’ll be a lot of the farmers will form a cooperative and then they’ll have one pack house so all the local farmers um will set up so they’ve got their own company which is their farm and then and

They set up a Cooperative to do all the packing and everything and um so all the local farmers was will set up another company and then that company sells it to um International or or the bigger buyers now it is Saturday Saturday afternoon uh so the gates are shut I’m

Guessing all the office stuff are out so I’ll go and press the button and um see what happens basically so I press a button and then nothing happen so there’s a phone number that I’ve rang and somebody is supposed to be opening the gate oh there you go like open sesame

Oh and there’s a person coming out to greet us so quite often with these places theyve um the gates will be open during the week but obviously Saturday is probably minimum staff I’ve got everything written down so most see what he says when it is okay okay I’m going to tell you

Something now okay well his English is good isn’t it um nice people see there are some side side know the we they’re just d 24 hours there see that wouldn’t be a bad place if you could park there and then you could go walking I mean it depends if

They’d let you in to use the toilet um but that wouldn’t be a bad place to park overnight and then at least when your load’s ready you can just P straight onto the bay it’s always a bit weird these places cuz we’re right hand drive and they’ve

Only got one line which is on the left so you sort of have to get it in some sort of straight line and then and then look at the your other window for a for the line because there isn’t one on this side sh there we go and see what they got to

Say oh These are nice people I’ve got three people loading this trailer now they definitely on the ball so this is obviously going to a processing plant because these are Big crates it’s not packed so there it’s picked and it’s washed and if you can

See um see when this guy brings one over see it’s like big processing crates it’s um what is it red chard like like just sort of like little spinach little leaves that’s all that’s in it so there’s not going to be any weight in it but it’s um it’s not packed it’s all

Just loose in them crates w can you see now we’re coming to the end it’s just kind of like um crates of leaves that’s all it is but um nice people don’t think they’re Spanish though in fact it would make sense that they’re not Spanish because Spanish don’t

Usually work on a Saturday and Sunday see what the guy says when he’s done so it turns out that the guy wasn’t Spanish he was Moroccan but a very well educated Moroccan and very polite Moroccan he said that he speaks um Arabic um and English and French and

Spanish so um yeah definitely more languages than me they put the bars up on on the bay like you saw um but there was another one waiting to get in so I came put the bars up shut the door put the lock on and everything but then somebody was

Coming in so I’ve come out now normally I run salad on um plus three stop start unless I’m otherwise told and they the guy there said they want it on constant so that it’s a constant 3° so um this a big lump there didn’t

Seem so bad when we came in um so I’ve just stopped come out the gate and made sure it’s on um constant I mean it doesn’t bother me you get used to the fridge this one is quite quite actually it’s a relatively new fridge it’s um uh

It’s very light it’s a crone this one with a um Thermo King unit on the front fridge unit and uh say it’s it’s fairly quiet so it won’t it doesn’t bother me even the gray and Adams that Roars like mad doesn’t bother me at all but um I

Like the gray on Adams it’s a nice it’s a it’s a heavy old thing it’s a bit like myself it’s old and it’s heavy but it does exactly what it says on the tin so we’ll get out now that’s a lovely view isn’t it um we’ll go back out the

Way we came and uh hopefully we won’t get held up this week for is that parking place um that we went past going in that looks like a decent place to park actually um I don’t think you park there with the r fridge cuz of a couple of houses there but you might

Do if you got right down the bottom of the corner now we want to turn left here uh we have to go down to the roundabout and come back where he’s going I suppose that makes sense there’s a roundabout down the road so we don’t need to make another slip road we don’t

Need people cutting across going across the road holding traffic up but idea I guess go long this see we can get a bit picture of that castle I Googled it while it was in there I’ll put the name on the screen it’s just called um C Castillo Castillo

DEA um I should have practice this Forza Del Soul which means Fortress of the sun I’ll write in the comments so that you know I I’ll write put it on the screen so that you know what I’m actually saying with my best Spanish accent there it is a b

Should get a better view as I go along here um not the best idea trying to sight see why they driving along I guess there it is it’s up there look say it’s Castillo DEA if anybody wants to Google it quite impressive on top of a tunnel

Isn’t it I’m sure the castle was there before the D though and at the other side of the tunnel it’s u a lovely view so I’m going to um get along unless anything interesting happens I’ll let you look at the scenery for a bit and

I’m heading up to K so it’s going to get dark soon anyway so I shall probably bring you back when I get up to K oh oh looks like we’re coming into rain that might be interesting when it’s dark that strange Cloud must be raining over that direction how

Weird must be a special name for that type of cloud surely apart from rain cloud there must be something spectacular about it cuz it looks very spectacular um not quite in France yet we’re just um heading up through Navaro but you see these I don’t know if you can see them

These mountains in front they’ve got um loads and loads of W wind turbines on the top of them I don’t know if you can see them I’m trying to get a better picture and there’s um on the right hand side here I might get a a picture of

Here on the right hand side there’s some um quaries and things and they’re quite impressive as well see if I can get the quaries on and it tells you what they are as you come along these Mountain what you’re looking at the views and that sort of thing but all along that

Ridge line you can’t see them all along that ridg line there’s um I see them zoom in can you see them perhaps there is a h there can you see them at the top there hopefully but there’s hundreds and hundreds of wind turbines and I I can

Never make up my mind whether I like them and they look like stately gentlemen waving their arms or I hate them and they ruin the skyline and there’s the um there’s the the it’s a stone quarry I think that’s see how it digs out of the mountains I mean obviously employs

People but um a lot of people complain about the way that the stone and the marble is actually mined and it ruins the mountains but then everybody’s got to work and everybody’s got to make a living somehow but it leaves a big scar on the on the

Environment and this is the area where the um uh farmers were protesting the other day not too bad today no they’ve put a series of new Mini roundabouts on here um and they they weren’t actually blocking anything they were just driving really slow and going down to one

Roundabout doing a UI and coming back again but just like really slowly so that nothing could get past it and as well they’ve they’ve uh done this road up up and you see that the barrier in the middle and the thing is even if there was an accident nothing can

Overtake now nothing can get past everything just has to come to a stop um because of the way they put the barrier all the way down the middle and so that’s that’s the thing that’s why their farmers were doing it here because everybody had to slow down behind them

There was absolutely no way of getting around it’s all very quiet today cuz it is Sunday we’re just heading up to the French border now we’ll go up and see what the uh the DW has to say they’re B to stop me they do every time as I’ve said before

So that’s the frontier in front of us so I’m just going to pull over here and finish B start France again change the country some of the very new ones uh new tachographs do it automatically they pick it up by satellite but um 90% of the lores

Don’t um and it um you can do it just before the board or you can do it it’s reasonable distance of the frontier of a frontier is when you’ve got to do it so there’s I can do it just this side or I can do it just the other side so um you

Know you’ve got to be reasonable but this quite often gets really busy so if there is somewhere to pull over before I usually do that so I can see that the Customs are over the other side they’re looking pretty bored not many of today see what they got to say hi please

Ve vegetables like um like lettuce thank you byebye well that was pretty painless didn’t know the translation for red CH into French I wasn’t going to get that one and uh they they tell to know what salad vegetable is so I just kind of guessed it worked

Anyway there we go welcome to France so I’m going to crack on get up to K I’ll bring you back when I get up there oh welcome back and we are in K and we are going to get on an earlier Ferry than we were supposed to be on the

Night one which um and we managed to get in the afternoon one so that’s a good result um that means we’ll be up in the delivery point first thing in the morning so I did all the heartbeat monitor I checked all the seals done all

That um did me um did me form as I normally do all that sort of thing um I kind of just didn’t rush to be honest because I thought I was on tonight’s boat but um yeah result just give this broke a last look underneath the trailer just to make

Sure he doesn’t get underneath he just um um appears that you just drive past him slowly and the question that some people have asked me more than once two or three times people have asked me is why do we with L’s put our hazard lights on

When we get on a boat I have absolutely no idea is the answer so if any of Britney feries are ask that are watching this please leave a comment and tell us why we have to put our hazard lights on if it was just the fridges that had

Their hazard lights on I could understand it saying yes we’ve got a running fridge but all the lawers have to put the hazard lights on to get out it’s what like you can’t see us or something no idea because the cars don’t have to do it a bizarre thing no idea

Why we have to do it but they insist that you put your hazard lights on when you get on board don’t think it’s busy so I don’t know why they’re cramming Us in this is the coton T this boat which is which is normally a freight one used to always only only be

Freights and we used to catch it a lot out of pool to go to San pandere when it first started and that was just Freight but I think it does both and it does um it does laav as well now we parked but they don’t give you

Much room to get in and out like to be too much bigger now somebody asked me about the running fridge on the boat now you don’t run the diesel engine on the ferry you have it plugged in see that plug there is but it’s up to the driver to wait make sure

It’s plugged in and make sure it’s at temperature you have to check it before you go upstairs so that says parked I’m going to go up get some food in a shower and a couple of our sleep and I should pick you up later and we’re back they’ve unplugged

It but you see they haven’t switched it on so they’ve unplugged electric so I have to then switch on it’s down to the driver to make sure it switched back on again cuz they won’t switch it on so um they just unplug it there you go back on newel engine

So I’m going to find somewhere to park for a couple of hours cuz I haven’t finished um I need to finish my fairy movement so I’ll bring you back tomorrow when I’m at the delivery point hello good morning there was no point me bringing you back before

Because it’s been very dark and very rainy um we are up in shopshire um oh big tractor big tractor coming through thank you very much thank you oh big blue tractor big New Holland for my son he drives one of them so I know where this place was cuz

I have been here before as well um just down here again it’s similar idea to um a lot of these places it’s um on a farm a big pack house they they Supply the supermarkets as well so there’s um they’ve got a place see the place just

Here on the right all this is Farmland so um it’s obviously their own Farmland I mean this is a similar sort of place that my son does work for down in Coral oh a big green and yellow one that’s even better for him um I know sad when

When we look at tractors as well as Lor’s um but they’ve got a big um distribution bit here but we need to go straight on I’ve been here before that’s why I know this we’re going to go straight on and the actual pack house is at the other side of the fire

Bom now don’t tell me you didn’t see me come in it’s big and it’s yellow thank you very much could have just not turned out you know what I mean but thank you very much anyway we just slow down and let them come through we want to go up to the other

End of the farm where they’ve just come from right at the very top there we are told you right at the other end we’ll go in and see what they’ve got to say there’s one thing I do remember about this place just thinking about it is they’ll need a print out and they

Need a print out from the fridge to say what temperature it’s been run at and um it’s from the start of the journey so it’s a whole journey print out that they’ll need now this fridge unit doesn’t have a printer on it it all goes through the cloud and satellite and that

So what I’ll have to do is get onto the office and get them to um do an email CU you can print it out you can download it and um you can print it but you can also email it obviously and they can uh they

Can do that bit um it is easy if you’ve just got a a paper print out but so many of them don’t know all are modern ones they just unless you spec specifically specify them I don’t think they have them so on that note I’m going to finish
