Old School BMX star Craig Strong wheelied for 1 hour 16 minutes, (8 Miles) for a Guiness World Record Way back in 1983. The Lee Cooper Grand Prix at Picketts Lock Centre in London was a big deal for many reasons! Indoor Racing & Freestyle together for the first time, and World Record attempts for Wheelie & Bunny Hop competitions. It was also the last time Tim March & Andy Ruffell worked together as they teamed up to commentate on the 1 hour recap video produced after the show. Andy Ruffell came away with the UK bunny Hop Record

The Bunny Hop competition and the wheelie competition were held at the same time to save time and because of the amount of space that we had this is Keith Wilson he went out of the competition after 14 minutes a good shot here of the last two riders in the wheelie

Competition Craig can do quite a few variations on his wheelies he can spin the bars comb his hair take his jumper off he can do all sorts of things he can also speak to people doing interviews around the track like this guy is doing here he’s going so slow that it’s like

Just about walking pace which made it quite easy for the guy doing the interview from LBC um not the Brick Company the radio station I think that there andy is Steve Clark who’s just gone out of the wheelie competition yeah he must have finished second and Craig must still be going yes

I think Craig is still going yeah he certainly is is still going Craig’s been Wheeling for so long now I guess he could have wheelied back to Bournemouth yes cuz that’s where Craig comes [Applause] from meanwhile back at the wheelie competition Craig strong is really going

For it and he put his front wheel down there he was Wheeling for 1 hour and 16 minutes 43 seconds it’s a bit of a shame he put it down there then Andy but never mind I guess he was pretty tired it’s just been worked out that Craig covered

8 Miles during that wheelie which is a hell of a long way to ride on one wheel yes that’s quite an achievement as you can see Craig’s are being congratulated by everyone there yeah not of friends around there Pete Middleton from Mongoose and Chris Young from the freestyle just come to

Congratulate Craig I guess he’s going to be tied up with all the handshakes and the Pats on the back for quite a while now A
