Welcome to the YouTube home of Team Saunders Tri – Cait & Tif

Caitlin began her triathlon career in 2012 on a fat tire bike and no swim background. She met Tiffany when she was training for Ironman Texas 2013. Accompanying Tif through most of the training (minus most of the swimming), and serving as a finish line catcher volunteer, catching Tif at the end of her first Ironman, it didn’t take long for the triathlon bug to bite. She completed her first full Ironman in 2015 and added another in 2017 – crossing the finish line both times hand-in-hand with the love of her life.

Tiffany’s triathlon life started in 2009 with The Rookie Tri at the Texas Ski Ranch. From the time she crossed the finish line, she was hooked. Since then, she has added 3 full Ironmans to her resume’ (Texas 2013, 2015, 2017). But it’s the 70.3 distance that has been her favorite calling. Since her first Ironman 70.3 in Galveston in 2010, Tiffany has crossed the Half Ironman finish line more than 15 times, including two Ironman 70.3 World Championship appearances – with Caitlin – in South Africa, 2018, and St. George, Utah, 2021.

Team Saunders is documenting the journey of training, life and taking on new challenges along the way. A pair of Age Group triathletes, they hope to motivate and inspire others to find their own challenges.

Does the zift Hub one really change the indoor cycling training game in this video I’m going to share my thoughts and experience from the past months using the newest trainer offering from zift before I get to zwifting I want to let you know this is my honest unbiased

Review to help you make an educated decision on your next trainer purchase there is no sponsorship or compensation for this content purely my authentic thoughts and experience the first thing you’ll notice about this zift Hub one is that it’s easy to assemble and install everything

You need down to the tools come in the box and the parts are colorcoded to Match even if you’re not the most techsavvy it’s realistic you can have the trainer set up in less than 30 minutes when setting your bike up it’s best to be in the small ring up front and the middle of your cassette in the back once the bike is on you can shift

The back to to find where it lines up best you will easily be able to tell by the sound that is made an advantage to households that have multiple bikes or Riders is the compatibility of the trainer’s Cog the zift tub one does not utilize a cassette like other direct drive trainers do

Instead it’s a single fix Cog that allows you to switch between bikes almost seamlessly if you have a 12-speed or 11 speed it won’t make a difference just swap the bikes out and once again line up the rear derailer having a zift cog versus a cassette also reduces

Drivetrain wear so if there’s no rear cassette how do you handle shifting easy the zift tuub one comes with the click a virtual shifter that is incredibly responsive I’ll talk more about that shortly when I first installed my zift tuub one I immediately noticed the feel

Was amazing a few months in it still is back to the click it attaches easily to anywhere on your bike Within included rubber bands shifting is very responsive quick and quiet you might be tempted by muscle memory to use your bike shifting but don’t worry if you do you won’t cause

Any damage but you’ll certainly hear it Hub one is not the quietest but definitely noticeably not as loud as our previous trainer the Wahoo kicker snap how about performance with the direct drive aspect of the zift Hub 1 I’ve noticed much more accurate power numbers tightness of the wheelon roller and air

Pressure are no longer variables that used to cause a lot of power reading deviations for me additionally with a wheel on trainer and some direct drive trainers on the market today you have to calibrate before you ride every time that’s 10 minutes pre-writing plus the time to actually calibrate not very

Convenient if you’re rolling out of bed at the last minute to make it to your 5:30 a.m. scheduled zift Meetup I might be talking from experience but calibration on the Hub one is only a short 3se Second Spin of the crank and you’re set before this trainer urg mode

Was very challenging it used to be an absolute grind if I fell off the prescribed power or Cadence sometimes a trainer would come to a complete Halt and I’d have to take it off urg mode just to be able to turn the pedals and get back on the workout but with the Hub

One going from one power Zone to another is very smooth I noticed it immediately and couldn’t believe how much better it felt Based on personal experience there are definitely a lot of upsides but are there any downsides sort of this isn’t a problem for us but the zift Hub one almost locks you into the zift platform and their subscription now you can use a zift hub one as a trainer on other

Platforms with some exceptions The zwift Hub one click virtual shifting was designed to be used with zift and will not work with Ruby trainer Road or other other similar virtual platforms but if used in urg mode the trainer does work just as well on other platforms if you

Don’t have a dedicated training pain cave note that the Hub one is not very portable it weighs about 35 lbs and does not have folding legs or carrying handle lucky for us we have a designated pain G and no need to move it around as of this recording zift is offering a oneyear

Zift subscription with a purchase of the zift Hub one the unit sells for500 $99 and a year of zift comes in around $150 essentially making the trainer $449 we cannot compare the zift Hub one to higher end trainers as we’ve only had the Wahoo kicker snap and before that

Just a couple of good old dumb trainers The Hub one might not have some of the bells and whistles a higher-end direct drive trainer has but for the price in a household with two triathletes it’s costeffective and definitely worth it it might be a value pric trainer compared

To some of the thousand plus dollar models but it’s been a solid addition to our pain cave in fact we’re so impressed with it we bought a second one for tip so we can share the Hub one fun soon she’ll be riding all through ropia in

Her own fancy zift hub kit to match mine if you’re new to indoor riding or looking for a new smart trainer I do recommend the zift tuub one if you have any more questions about our experience drop it in the comments below and if you found this video informative please

    1. From a non-athlete using a hub one for about 2 months now I completely agree with your assessment. I tried Zwift on a dumb spin bike for a bit during covid, but it wasn't worth it, there wasn't anything to account for the actual force I used. I've since moved to a location that I have easy access to some long rail trails, so I've been riding my bike more. I got the hub at the end of the season to keep going and I love it. I'm already making more gains than I did out on the trails.

    2. Thanks, we also went for the Hub One and not the kickr core. The Core's reliability seems not very good and we didnt want to have trouble. Also the saving with calibration is a big plus.
Yes the Hub One is quiet loud. That comes from that cheap plastic cog and the single cassette itsself. Its higher and wider than from shimano. So either swap the single cassette or buy a normal cassette and its silent.

    3. I had a suito elite and it died. Got the zwift in the summer right before they bumped the price by 100 bucks. Got the hub one with click shift and it's great. Accurate review imo. I can't attest to the durability….the suito only lasted 2 years or 2 1/2 winters. I hope this one lasts longer.

    4. Thanks for the review. How do you guys ride together? My wife received this for Christmas and we both love it so much we ordered another one for me. We want to do rides and races together. I was wondering if there is a way to run a split screen off one screen. It would be cool to ride side by side and share the same screen.

    5. For those of us who don’t require the 1 watt degree of error and couldn’t justify $1000+ for a trainer, the Zwift Hub is that gateway device that got many of us into dedicated indoor cycle training.

    6. I just purchased this last night. I live near Chicago and to say the weather sucks from Dec to April is an understatement . I’m hoping this will keep me at least in average cycling shape.

As someone else commented, I did buy the mat to go under neath so I hope that will be enough to not annoy the neighbor below me. If it’s too bad I can double up.

Out of curiosity how long do people actually ride indoors? I can be outside for 3 hours easily but indoors for 3 hours sounds awful haha

    7. The push button gear changer adds another channel . The companion can handle my several Bluetooth items but using Apple TV has seemed to confuse my pairing at start up while sometimes being very simple.
