I Netted A Top 5 Olympic! £250 50p coin hunt 106 book 1

Welcome back to the channel for another coin hunt!

Today it’s the 17th December 2023 and we’re hunting through a £250 bag of 50p coins. So what are we looking for?

Commemoratives

We’d particularly like to find commemorative designs which we haven’t seen in our previous hunts so we can put them in the book. The outstanding designs are:

Very occasionally, we might even be lucky enough to find an NIFC (“Not Intended For Circulation”).

Definitives
———————————-
We’re interested in definitive designs which are either of low mintage or shouldn’t be in our change. Britannia was the definitive design from 1997-2008 and Shield is the definitive design from 2008 onwards.

For Britannia, 2008 is a lower minted year which some people keep. Any year after 2008 would be an NIFC.

For Shield, 2009-11, 2016, 2018, and 2021 are NIFC years, while 2017 is a lower minted year. There’s also a 2022 shield (tooth-fairy) which has a privy mark on the reverse.

In 2023, the Atlantic Salmon became the definitive design and an unknown number have been circulated. The NIFC version has a privy mark on the obverse.

Hello welcome back to the channel for another coin hunt today we have £250 of 50 piece to have a hunt through we’re back on the sealed bags today the bags from voltax so we’ve got no date let’s open it up and see what we can find and while that bag’s being opened

Up let’s have a quick look at the book to see which designs we still after on page one Q Gardens the rarest 50p in circulation page two is complete on page three we’ve got a couple more Olympics we have shooting and Taekwondo and then after that we have everything up to

Including the king’s coronation oh straight away in the first bag we have ourselves a find that is the Battle of Britain which is a low tier keeper check the other side on this one Jodie Clark portrait 2015 that’s what you’d expect to see see a different date or

IRB then you have yourselves an NFC or not intended for circulation so those those variants were only struck for The Collector sets as it is blow tier keeper very nice start we have a Paddington at the tower it’s a 2019 Paddington which is not a keeper there’s Roger banister this one

Is from 2004 which is the original circulating year keep an eye out for the 2019 version of that one which was again an N ni FC it was only for The Collector sets and struck to celebrate 50 years of the 50p there’s a pride from 2022 and here we have Benjamin bunny that’s

The most common commemorative 50p you can find can have a rotation errow though so just turn it over and have a look at this side Queen’s looking at 3:00 there so that is all good uh as it is that one will get signed and sent out for someone to

Find oh very cool we have ourselves a FES from 2008 we found quite a few of those I forget the exact mintage figure on that one but it’s reasonably high but very nice definitely a keeper there’s a 2017 pointy bit down I think that’s going to be a shield it’s a

Lower minted year on the shields only 1.8 million of them were circulated so definitely a key keep oh and I just dropped those coins absolutely everywhere come on shaky Don’t splash the pot I think it was just a couple that went flying there this is a 20 17 pointy bit up so

It’s going to be one of the Potters I expect there we go that’s Peter Rabbit very very common the the 2017 Potters there’s another pride and there is another taale of Peter Rabbit and then we have our first brexit of the day 31st of January 2020 and on the top of this stack I spy a people act I believe there we go from 2018 a 2018 that I don’t keep There’s another bre brexit there the correct date On and there’s another Benjamin bunny let’s see if this one has a rotation error not this time so that one will get signed shaky coins as Well Oh and here we have a 2011 so we only need a couple more for the book we need Taekwondo and shooting we’ve got all of the sort of super rare ones uh chances at this stage that this this is actually a book find is pretty slim so let’s have

A look and see it’s not a book find it’s botcher still a very nice find Though another Pride coming up it’s the third one I think 5029 19 expecting a Paddington Paddington at the tower it’s the second one of the day and another 2011 come on please it’s an absolutely cracking find it’s tennis we’ve only had this one time before on the channel That is an Absolut

Beauty it’s in really good condition as well uh definitely the star find usurping bota there I Think another 2022 it’s another Pride very nice that’s the uh King’s coronation 50p just check the other side no crown on his head very nice it’s still quite a nice surprise when I find these ones I’ve only found a handful so far And this one’s the last bag of the hunt 2020 diversity hello my old friend we haven’t seen diversity much lately it’s been caught up by uh some of the other common 50 piece that we find on the channel but that one we do still find more than any other design okay I’m going to double check

All the coins now make sure I didn’t miss anything the first time round for Shields I’m looking for years 2009 10 11 16 17 18 or anything from 2020 onwards and I’ll post back in a few seconds with what I find okay I finished checking through

All the coins and I did find one more shield from 2017 to add to the other one that we found during the hunt which is excellent and then looking back at the hunt itself it’s been a really good hunt today uh some lovely finds in the keeper
