Roads views and The Culinary culture that is the North Coast 500 Oh ladies and gentlemen we give you rers digest welcome to lch Ness yeah deep water uh apparently more water in here than uh like the whole world or something the whole all the Seas all the seas in the world um yeah yeah anyway well here we are and uh these are the

Weapons that we’re going to be initiating on this digestion of culture food culinary delight and Roads so we got the desert x uh neither of us have been that are they boothy went on the launch for that I thought you went on the launch no no bo went on

The launch for that uh and we’ve got the multi Strada uh rally V4 rally so you’ve ridden this I haven’t yeah so you’re going to jump on that first it’s an absolute Banger it’s an I love that bike and and I’m really looking forward to this as well yeah we thought we started

From less um and then uh we’re going go up to in vaness which is the official starting point of the North Coast 500 uh and then this time we’re going clockwise we’re going to break the rules uh cuz we’re Renegades so uh I think you like that you normally supposed to go

Anticlock was apparently H well yeah and I’ve actually just picked up at the local Marks and Spencers this very handy Collins North Coast 500 pocket map guide so this is the ultimate guide so we’re here next to uh lockart Castle so we’re going to go up to inv vaness um Meander

Round so this is the route of today carefully planned and we’re going to stay so this is the best bit we’re going all the way around there are we all all around here and we’re going to stop in uh charlest town in the old in um so

That’s our route today it’s 140 Mi and this bit here this so as soon as we get to the West Coast all of these bits around here this is the best bit this is going to be the best bit uh so second day is about 130 Mi we go from charlest

Town wiggle our way around the west coast to SC Moore right okay yes scary Moore hotel which I think is the nicest hotel tell we’re going to stay at right like scouring pads yes yeah exactly uh and then uh the third day is the shortest day 96 Mi scour all the way the

North Coast uh to tho you can see that there F doesn’t look like it looks longer that’s 96 miles that bit wow yeah uh and then the final route we we’re going to go we got to go to jnah Gro definely yeah yeah John for sun

Sunrise I think okay nice rises in the East sets in the west so uh and then smash it down there and eat some cenry sausage and haggus I definitely want to get some haggus on this trip yeah I’m not a massive haggus fan but I’ll take

Some uh I want to you haven’t had the right haggus it’s very important I want to stop in Helmsdale Helms de yeah Helmsdale Helmsdale yeah okay nice East Helmsdale Helmsdale gandal for the white will come and save us right right well let’s go and um jump

On these steeds I’ll pack my map up and put it in my handy little map pocket on my fancy new St threads and uh off we go is that right I mean Scotland is generally quite empty but this road has been quite busy so I’m quite looking forward to getting

Out into the Wilderness a little bit more and away from people yeah this is the A9 so it isn’t is a very busy area although I will say the North Coast 500 a lot of it is a roads but they’re much sort of narrower and slower uh certainly

The West Coast but and but it is going to be busy it’s holiday time so it’s going to be full of Italians and French people uh I love Italians and French people but um no you don’t so we’ve just got to put up with the general you know

Nicer than sitting at work I’m going to put the heat of grips on I think you can no there’s nothing wrong with a bit of comfort how you doing 19° man oh we’re just starting to just a teas our way into the the sexiness of the North Coast

500 uh Romanian Lor yeah where’s he he Spanish actually oh but he has but he has got a Schmid’s car ball cargo ball so uh and he did just overtake a Honda Jazz oh oh I don’t have the power for that I’m afraid that V4 Multistrada is

Ridiculously fast and this this is it’s pretty quick bike but it’s nothing compared to that oh this is it mate oh this is exactly what I needed in my life in our lives oh oh he’s on it this bike is so Nimble that it it does that thing where you

Know when you turn into a corner and it just turns too quick and you have to sort of lift it up because you’re got it’s like oh my God not that great above 60 70 there’s quite a lot of turbulence but what purpose of blasting natury back

Lanes this is an absolute Beast how’s the old v4s there mate oh M I like this a lot I like this a lot it’s um it’s yeah it’s I mean look it’s not it’s not massively different to the MRA V4 the standard one but you know the tank is

Obviously it’s uh it’s it’s biggest Ally isn’t it and our biggest Ally uh that’s the only thing I mean obviously what’s your range Chris what’s your what’s your P range uh I got 170 Mi left well I’ve got 323 well there you go but we have to do

We have to be slightly careful about about planning routes and stuff on the North Coast 5 obviously because uh certainly on the highlands on the west coast as you go further up there’s not a massive amount you got to be quite careful boys y that looks so good you look that looks

So good mate honestly it’s not the prettiest what’s down there oh stopping in oh wow yeah yeah yeah a little dogging spot should we try and go down there what’s down there don’t know oh you lead the way with the uh with the with Nimble one the noes the

Going to uh approach your girlfriend on a Saturday night and ask her to dance we are really adventuring now we are really adventuring yeah if the adventur ometer was nearing 10 went up to 10 would be on 8 yeah quite like the old little train line

Barrier here for this one they have but you still fit underneath it you would yeah and it’ll probably slice your legs off and stuff anyway let’s not talk about that no let’s talk about the beautiful Vista that we have in front of us the windows Mis it’s honestly it’s

It’s I’m genuinely mind blown I don’t I haven’t seen anything like this before it’s just be but of course it’s the it’s the it’s the consist and the and the general it’s just mile after mile after mile of just stunning views and stuff to digest Good yeah I mean it’s like a screen saer it’s like a desktop image yeah it’s like the same sort of PA as the Alpine routs take like the same sort of twist and turns but on really sketchy Nery roads like a lot of this a lot of adventuring

Adventure like modern day adventure bike touring can be done on almost any bike right they’re all you know uh pretty pretty reasonable but this is really like you want something like we’ve got here oh 100% because you’re going to really struggle in Su are on something with a uh High ground clearance and

Um bit of comfort and pep they don’t really care though do they oh didn’t like that too well here we are mate welcome to the old in you got to be quite careful as I said ear you got be quite careful about uh what you book way

But because you know there are places where they’ve got miles upon miles without any accommodation and of course uh there are certain points where uh places are fully booked and you might go another few 2030 mil without any uh combination so my my advice is book in

Advance don’t risk it for a biscuit and that’s going from someone who loves a bit of last minute trip advisor yeah but if you’re a proper Adventurer then you’d have a tent and and out here you can you can sleep wherever you want can’t you it’s a right to Rome or something they

Call it what do they call it right to Rome yeah well that’s your room over there mate made it that was a a pretty good day mate well done well done well done what day in the saddle what we do 145 miles we did about 160 Mi today because we went from Loch

Ness rather than in vaness so A Grand Day in the saddle I’d say I mean it’s amazing how you switch Terrain in which bike works best it’s and literally the the terrains today have been amazing a-roads like real fast and all of a sudden you get to a single track and

It’s you’re jumping and then it’s nerie yeah and and I’ve changed and when I set off this morning I was like oh I want to be on the MTI Str and then in the in the really cool past bit I was like oh I really want to be in the desert X and

Then that last little run down into here I was like I’m well glad I’m on the monster Sher so horses for courses so anyway welcome to the uh the new in the old in the new in is down the road much nicer yeah it’s much better probably

More expensive as well but this is lovely this is 100 quid could be worse the other ones were like 300 quid 400 quid I think pretty much everywhere around here we had a look everywhere around here 250 350 quid and there are more you can spend 500 quid if you want

A nice castle in the mountain somewhere but um obviously we’re on a budget so uh here we are in the old in but no lovely Place lovely staff very friendly so far and we’ll give you a full racting uh tomorrow after breakfast h I I I’m I
