The 9th stage of the Vuelta a España was a short one at just 94.4km from Andorra la Vella to Cortals d’Encamp. With the category 1 Coll d’Ordino straight out of the blocks followed by the Especial Coll de la Gallina, and a crazy combination of category two climbs resembling a staircase with a new climb of the Engolasters pass before a new 4km flat gravel section leading into the final category one climb to the line. The riders will definitely need the rest day after this one. This isn’t a livestream, but it’s the only highlights you need.

    1. GCN can you edit your video and also explain that Roglic crashed with a motorbike? That explains everything. He crashed and was than able to catch them again (besides Pogacar and Quintana), Lopez also crashed, so Valverde and Quintana were able to catch him. This changes everything, because Roglic had the legs and so did Lopez and if they both didn't crash, they would be fighting mano a mano for the win.

    2. I love the GCN racing channel
Dans voice is fantastic for the highlights, perfect tone, clear and enjoyable but for the races I’m sorry and I haven’t learned there name yet but the new fella (buzz cut blondie) has an exciting voice and keeps your eyes following and the GCN Español girl keeps the commentary clear and are a great team and she Dora’s a great job at keeping his excitement at the perfect level

    3. Roglic 's gain in his climbing abilities is undeniable. Wish him a GT win . Doesn't have the best team out there but Roglic really deserves it IMO. Let's wait for the ITT.

    4. This race like all other grand tours has all the ingredients of mystery at the end of week one. Still up in the air IMO. Thanks GCN. The highlights have been great. Even with missing footage. Dan handled it fine.

    5. My thoughts on the stage: Valverde must have been absolutely spent at the end, I was sure he would take the bonus seconds from Roglic, who looked super strong at the end. We'll see what happens at the TT. Movistar should have either let Soler go for the stage win or keep him helping much sooner. Madrazo must be happy about the result, 45 KOM points on offer and only one other guy ends up with a total of 20+.

    6. Moviestar are not Ineos but there tactics are bloomin wierd. Soler was so pissed that he could'nt go for the stage.
It may be the year for the young ones but the old guy can still hang on with the best………

    7. "Rozhlik"…."Pojackar"….can you get more creative than Sean Kelly? He even topped his performance from the TdF. Don't worry, Sean, lots of talent coming from Slovenia in the coming yrs…..;-)

    8. quintana is a puppy can't do anything without valverde the mother. he should have been the first south american to win the tour de france not that other guy from colombia.

    9. We all know who is the likely favorite. But I am looking at how much time Q and Superman will loose. Bala Verde will move up but how much of a good TT man is POGAČAR?

    10. Looks like quintana would need to have ala alaphillipe miracle to win itt.

This has been the most brutal tour this year. Climbs at the start of the tour, changing leaders and a climber on a green jersey (lol)

    11. Thanks for continuing to post up these highlights. I had enjoyed watching NBC highlights as well, but those assholes decided to quit allowing us Canadians to watch them after stage 6

    12. well done GCN… i watched every second of this race and still had no clue what happened.

it was like watching a horror movie mixed with the D-Day airborne invasion….carnage, confusion, people scattered all over the mountain… just a grand tour train wreck and it was awesome!

    13. Dan, you have found your proper space in cycling again. You are an accomplished professional cyclist as Mark Stephens is. The both of you have transitioned nicely from the other GCN angle of silly promotions. Your Vuelta segments are superior to what NBC is uploading. Shorter duration dailies meaning better editing and less b.s. Bad coffee, Who cares ? You are a beer drinker as I’ve seen. Have you ever watched the racer analyses by Lanterne Rouge on YouTube ? He is a genius too.
