Initially it’s quite daunting for people when they start. You know, thinking about the contact. But once you get your first proper contact it’s like Pringles. You know once you pop, you can’t stop. There’s a mixture here of disabled and non-disabled and not everybody uses a chair in day to day life.
So we will teach you what you need to know. So we got some players, you know, quite young team players that have been in the sport since they were seven, eight years old, right the way through to, you know, we’ve got a few players in their fifties. I particularly like this club
Because we’re slightly different to most sports clubs. We look after people’s mental health and wellbeing, as well as their physical health because it’s all one package and people need to be looked after. And they know that they can come to us to be looked after.
We have mental health first aiders within the club. The funding that we’ve had so far has enabled us to be able to get more chairs, more balls, equipment. To be able to train and just the basic things, shirts. And also be able to give us an outreach to, to try and get
More people into the, into it. If we hadn’t received the funding that we did receive over the summer, it would have been very detrimental to the players, especially those that weren’t involved in the competitions, because it wouldn’t have given us the continuity of care over our players that we would normally have.
I enjoy the fact it’s all inclusive and you can get everyone in it. No matter age, disability, non-disability. I enjoy the fact that it’s for everyone. I also enjoy the physicality. I just enjoy the sport, it’s fun. Just come and have a go, come and let loose,
Blow the wheels off it, you know, go for it and have fun because you can’t do anything wrong, it’s great. It’s good fun.
