My very first ebike accident

This week i head off out to the Warren between Folkestone and Dover on XF900 from Cyrusher. I noticed on a map a pond that may just be the perfect place to stealth camp along the coast.

Well good morning good afternoon or good evening uh whenever you’re watching this video Welcome Back or welcome to Glen Z bike Adventures so today excuse me I’m climbing up a hill at the moment and it’s very brisk out um a cold air is kind of taking my breath away but yeah very cold

Morning and wet in the UK but then when isn’t it right I just need to turn in here here oh somewhat foggy today right so yeah I don’t know if you can see over there um tops of the White Cliffs completely shrouded in Cloud um so today where what we

Doing well we’re heading off over that way um I’ve seen on a map that um essentially there’s a what looks like a pond over there um Along by the beach now I’m kind of coming out today because I there’s a couple of things I want to test and

Um also I’d like to sort of see when I saw that pond on the map it kind of looked like a cool place to um to do a stealth Camp so um essentially what we’re doing today is we’re going to go and check it out and uh

See if I can get the bike and the trailer and all my camping gear along there so um right I’m going to stop y yabbering cuz uh I’ve got to climb quite a big hill another thing I’ve noticed as well I brought out a different bike today I’m out on the um xf900

Um a back Break um I haven’t used the bike in in some months and uh essentially I’ve got so much air in my rear hydraulic back brake that um it’s so spongy it’s barely even um braking essentially um so I’ll need to bleed the brakes after this journey and uh get

Them back up to scratch but um yeah i’ I’ve got to we’ve got to go up here um we’ve already climbed quite a way um but we’ve got to go up even further but then that also means we’ve got a big long steep going down um I do need to be a

Bit careful with that as I said um my back break is pretty much non-existent so uh yeah we need to be a bit careful anyway let’s get up this hill morning all right we’re at the top as I said this is uh probably doesn’t show on the

GoPro but this is actually really quite Steep and obviously we’ve only the front brake really working really need to take this easy and not make any unnecessarily silly moves because cars do come up and down here as well and I don’t really want to run into any other vehicle essentially puddles in the

UK my goodness whatever next right so according to the map that I was looking at so I can access the beach down that way but there’s a huge gate which kind of uh limits your access on a bike so I’m kind of hoping along here I can get the bike

Through there and gain a bit more Access right now this is gated off but have they allowed enough room for people with bikes to get through right well uh I managed to actually get the bike through I God knows how I managed it um but um yeah obviously that’s going to be quite difficult if I’ve got a

Trailer but um it would mean unloading everything probably but uh you know it’s not the end of the world but um there was a sign as well that said uh oh big puddle oh actually really big puddle well um yeah there was a sign that said no camping and no fires but

Uh my goodness I mean to be honest with you I’ve seen hundreds of people Camp down here um I don’t necessarily think anybody’s policing it as such um why are you not allowed to Camp down here seems a bit odd I mean obviously it’s private land but uh we’ll see if we can

Actually find a place to stealth Camp right I think judging by my maps I needed to go down this road which will take me right to the SE front and from there we can uh work our way along essentially morning yeah I mean as I said there’s no

Camping and there we go we come straight down here and there’s presently with a tent right we are on What’s called the apron which is concreted area and uh essentially what we’re doing is we’re going to see how far we can get from folon to

DOA but also like I said we’re going to check out I did see a pond on a map and we’ll see if we can get access to that I don’t know if my camera’s picking that up either but uh the clouds rolling over the tops of the cliffs there looks quite

Eery there’s also um obviously warnings beware of Falling Rocks and you can probably oh see there are quite a few big rocks along here that have made their way down so uh it is an area where people need to be careful oh yeah the White Cliffs

Of I would say DOA but we’re not quite in DOA yet but they are indeed White Cliffs I don’t want to ride te ow ow ow well ouch do you know what ow that’s the first time I’ve ever hit the deck using this bike um oh ouch that hurt a little if I’m

Honest ouch um it’s so slippery on here on this surface at the moment um and I think the tire went out from underneath me because I attempted a turn essentially oh out to my hip oh yeah welcome to my uh welcome to my first ebike accident essentially

That’s not a bad um ratio though I mean I’ve been riding ebikes for eight years now and uh typical that the first time I ever come off my bike it was caught on camera for all of you to see all right how far can you get on the bike and I don’t

Think yep I think we’ve come to a point where that’s just not happening oh that’s a real shame so the pond that I wanted to get to I don’t think is accessible damn it well that is a real shame never mind here’s what it is there’s nothing we

Can no more we can do about that really all right well unfortunately as I said that plan’s not an option for us I don’t really want to go along this apron cuz it’s really slippery so with that in mind let’s go climb Offroad now I’ve got to say as well um

Obviously I’ve discussed that um I suffer from uh COPD um if I was walking up that hill that I just climbed on the bike I’d be out of breath and yeah here I am on a bike still going no heavy breathing and this is why I love my E Bike [Applause]

Oh it is a real shame though cuz uh you know if I was walking there’s all of this over there that I can go and explore in and actually it’s really really quite nice but uh there’s no way you’re getting a bike over there at all

Um obviously I was uh wishful thinking I could get where I wanted to today as well so uh which is a bit of a shame it really has sort of like yeah you know I mean There Are Places I could come along here and set up a tent but to be honest

I don’t think it’s a wise move so um we’ll forget the stealth Camp along here and uh we’ll think again oh mad mud I love mud it’s my favorite mud’s my favorite I’ve learned to love it I like m Gates everywhere oh now I’ve got to get through

That that gate that hates me oh no and uh it might not be such an easy task coming the other way as well um my problem being is there’s no real other way up oh my God that puddle is so I’ve got have to lift both feet up

There so I don’t get absolutely soaking wet I guess it might help clean some of my tires it’ just be nice to come out on a bike and not have it covered in in mud for once cuz not only do I keep my bikes in my house so I Trail mud into the

House so not only have I got clean my bike I have to clean my house after I brought the bike in because really if you got ebikes not the best idea to store them outside to be honest not in the UK we’re far too wet damp and

Cold so um if you do have an eike I would really suggest you know that it’s uh it’s in somewhere dry um room temperature kind of stuff you know you want your bike to last as long as possible and I think you know leaving it outside especially I mean I you

Know especially where I live I live right by the Sea so um you know we’ve got Salt Air everywhere essentially so uh yeah that that doesn’t help at all right oh how am I going to get how am I going to do this uh I think I’ve got an idea but I’m

Going to send these cameras off because uh I don’t want you to see me making a fool of myself doing it anyway um no it’s probably going to be tough and uh I need to be mindful of uh where these cameras are Etc and sort of pay

More attention to them so uh yeah we’ll uh we’ll pick this up when when we’re through this Turn Style catch in a bit right well uh I’m back at the uh at the little bench um it was a little bit of a pain um obviously getting the bik through that Turn Style

Um with uh very little back break on this baby um I’ve given the bike a little bit of a check over seems to be relatively okay um I won’t know full extent of any damage until um essentially um I get it home get it cleaned and uh take a good look at it

Right anyway um so I brought out my uh T solo stove you’ve all probably seen this already um what else have I bought out with me I’m going to try one of these um they’re W farer um meals um this one’s uh pasta bolog so um it’s literally just a a boil

In the bag um you essentially just you roll these up pop in the pot add some water bring it to the boil um Let IT stand for a few minutes and then you can eat straight out of these bags so um yeah I’ve not tried these W fa far meals before so uh

I thought yeah you know let’s get one let’s try it see how it fs and uh you know give you my thoughts on on these things as well I’ve got a few others as well um Perry Perry chicken um I think I’ve got um a cur and rice

One and I’ve got a few actually oh chili and rice um see yeah they they do quite a few of these um they do a breakfast one which would have probably been um more fitting for this time of day but uh yeah it’s um I’ll be

Honest it didn’t look that nice in the picture so I kind of I gave it a little bit of a Miss but um I might well get another one I might well get one um anyway and just you know just to see it’s not going to kill me but um

Obviously you know these things are designed for human consumption so it should be right but uh yeah so um we’ve got that also what I had on order was I had this thing um this is essentially a tent heater um that I can use with um on my solo

Stove and uh it’s all in there but we’ll get this out in a minute I’m going to uh get my camping stove set up and uh we’ll get the water on the boil I brought enough water to make a nice copper as well a nice drink which I am really

Looking forward to actually at the moment a nice cup of coffee so um yeah we’ll get that set up right so uh we need to get this um this all set up that’s pretty much ready to go um I don’t know how much gas i’ got left so

Um I actually have brought another gas canister out with me uh just in case right so as I said before um these packs you just roll them up essentially just so that they’ll fit inside inside the cooking pot like so we’ll add our water obviously um I don’t know if you saw last

Week’s um video and if you did you’ll have noticed that um I tried to light this essentially with this on and uh while it wasn’t a blowout as such Flames did come out of here and uh started to lick at the outside of this um this cover which essentially keeps you know

Well a it’s for um the looks but also I I believe this insulates as well so um it also acts as an insulator so yeah you don’t really want to be burning that so anyway as I said bring that across bring out little catch out there and that

Keeps that all secured but we’re not going to light it with the unit on so let’s just move that to the side put it down somewhere dry there we go that just needs there we go and we’ll just let that bad boys burn burn the boil I keep

Saying burn when I should be saying boil but yeah bu leave that to uh do it s and that should uh heat up my meal quite nicely so I’ve got my uh again I brought out my nailing um containers which keep everything oh well you know these are dry products

Essentially I’ve got sugar in there they’ve been in there the whole time haven’t got damp or anything and also they’re great for liquids as well and stop any liquids essentially seeping out of the container into your bag so when you’re making coffee brown sugar not white sugar

And now just add a bit of drop of milk well there we go we are indeed boiling so we’re going to turn this off and we’ll just let that to rest for a bit um if you’re a coffee drinker you know well that um we don’t pour boiling

Water onto coffee because it burns it essentially so um we’ll just let that to uh rest for a moment or two before we fill up our coffee cup and also we need to let that stand in the water the the food pack to stand in the water for a

Few minutes as well just so that thoroughly Heats through but that should do I think really so uh I’m just going to use the water that uh we’ve used to heat our food up and carefully pour that into my cup however much water I need that is oh this is so hot

Okay so the moment of truth all right let’s uh see if you can see the contents of that that’s a pot pasta bolog that I don’t want to lose at the packet so uh it’s uh it is very hot though so uh but yeah I mean the beauty of these

Things is you don’t need to bring a plate you can just eat these straight out of the bag essentially surprisingly really nice oh I wasn’t expecting that I’ll be honest um actually it’s really nice so yeah the um I’m going to be quite honest this pastor Bolognese Wayfare Pastor Bolognese

Um now I get I got these packs from go outdoors in Canterbury I’m sure you can probably get them elsewhere as well I’m not really sure but um yeah I mean you can mail order the these things from go Outdoors anyway so um if you don’t have a go outdoors in your

Area um then yeah you you can order these online and get them shipped directly to your house so um honestly I don’t know if it’s because I’m not eaten yet today this really does taste good I’m actually really surprised I thought it would be quite Bland um but it’s actually really

Tasty and really that took barely little time at all to heat up in a great scheme of things so um yeah I mean if you’re out camping or just you know on the day out somewhere and you need to take a bite of to eat with you these are

Perfect well that was absolutely delicious I’m really impressed really flavorsome very filling um yeah I’d say if you’re looking for a quick easy meal I’d say the wayf farer Bast bnise is a way to go um as I said I’ve got quite a few of these um

Not just the pasta bnes but other meals as well so um we’ll bring those out and we’ll give them a test and see what they like but yeah so far big thumbs up from me on the way far Pastor bolog gorgeous right so in order to get this

Um tent heater let’s get it out the bag out the box rather then out the bag okay right so um our tent heater essentially this is how it looks um we’ve got a handle here this handle is used obviously you pop that in there and that enables you to lift the heater off

Safely without having to touch it with your bare hands right we are going to need this piece um which um is normally used for frying pans putting the pot on um but this sits on top there like so and then our heater just fits in through these slots and that should all go

On relatively easy saying that though just going to make sure there we go right that’s all on there we like this that was my only concern is that uh this may well get quite noisy but um we’ll see how we go we’ll just leave that on for a couple of

Minutes and uh see how much it warms up also um if you’re out um you could put a um pot on top of here or a frying pan a small one probably a pot or a metal cup um and that will also heat water from the top as well so um it it

Does serve as a a a double use essentially just going to turn that I mean you probably wouldn’t want it on that loud not being in a tent but yeah there’s a fair amount of heat coming off of that already radiating out so uh yeah I I can imagine

That will uh heat up a tent in no time to be honest let’s turn that down a bit oh yeah there’s a lot of heat coming out of that that that would warm a t up in no time absolutely brilliant well I’m really happy with that obviously I’m not

Testing out the field as such inside the tent but uh I think it shows that uh it certainly Works especially out in the open um I got this off of um Amazon by the way I think it’s about 15 so um I’ll pop a link in the video

Side and let that cool off but yeah I’d sort of say that’s Mission successful really I almost forgot my coffee and yet that’s still really hot that’s been uh sat on the ground for about 15 minutes 20 minutes and yeah still almost too hot to drink but uh

Right so uh I think that’s about it for today to be honest it’s uh my apologies I didn’t get to go where I wanted to and where I wanted to take um myself and you along for the ride um my first ever ebike accident in eight years not bad going and uh you

All got to see it as well um maybe not from a third person perspective but uh yeah I hope it didn’t uh scare anyone too much um I’ll be honest my hip is killing me um I kind of need to get back home I think a nice hot bath and um check out

Potentially my uh my nice purple and blue bruise hip bruise and I’m sure that will uh that’s the thing as you get older um you don’t bounce back so quickly so um I’m kind of half expecting when I get home later that I’m going to seize up so I’m highly looking forward

To that it’s going to be awesome um mean I’m going to be hobbling around for a few days probably but there we go you know no pain no no gain as they say um you know I’ve come off me bike it hasn’t deterred me I’m going to get back on

That again in a minute you know well I’ve been right I rode all the way back up here anyway so um you know I’m just going to get back on the bike and um you know and just be more mindful um of places like that admittedly there was signs everywhere that was saying

Slippery surface um and that’s the thing on that concrete down there it’s you can’t necessarily see if it’s slippery so um ah right well as I’m chatting away the rain is uh now coming down I’ve not really got waterproof trousers on or anything so um only my jacket so um

We’ll call this a day on the video um there might be a little bit of snippet for the ride back but um I’m not really sure how long these cameras as much are going to last because it’s actually quite cold today again and yeah the batteries just don’t seem to last the
