Join us as we share this part of our adventure from Ripon, North Yorkshire, to Ciudad Quesada via the Portsmouth-Santander ferry, offering insights into the practical aspects of motorhome travel while embracing the thrill of setting off on a new expedition towards our destination in Spain.

We are Mick and Cath, currently working as campsite wardens in Ripon North Yorkshire, UK, but with retirement fast approaching we are planning a permanent move to our home in Spain.
Our plan is to retire with a single UK state penion to our apartment in Pueblo Bravo, Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, Spain which we bought with the proceeds of the sale of our UK home.

In the meantime we plan to use our 2009 Belgian built Maesss motorhome to travel in the UK on our time off and then take a big trip to France when we finally finish work.
We bought the Motorhome from https://www.northernmotorhomebuyer.co.uk/ in Skipton, North Yorkshire (Cheers Mario)

The Youtube channel was set up to help us keep and share the memories with anyone who is interested, so, if you are interested in this kind of content and may be planning a similar retirement and need to know our costs, we will be sharing our expenses and experiences as we continue our journey.

Our journey really began when we moved to Canada in 2008 for Mick to become a long haul truck driver, where we lived in our truck and spent an adventurous time delivering oversized loads all over Canada and the USA.
We also ran a Blog during that time but didn’t have a Vlog due to lack of decent gear for recording in a big rig, although we do have lots of clips on Micks other Youtube channel… youtube.com/@mickflynnimages and lots of pictures on mickflynnimages.com.

We then returned to England for a while and spent four summer seasons working in the Loire Valley on a beautiful campsite, before moving back to the UK and staying for six years working on a campsite near Henlow, Bedfordshire.
In 2021 we moved up to Yorkshire to be nearer our house which had been locked up for a few years except for short weekend visits, although, as we were provided with comfortable accomodation at our current site we decided to sell up, and so began our Spanish dream with the sale of our modest house in Bradford, which allowed us to buy the small apartment in Spain.
Our next big job (which we will be documenting) is to teach Cath how to ride a bike as she has never had one, but we feel that a couple of small folding electric bikes will allow us to get out and about more to explore wherever we are.

Welcome along for the ride, we hope we can make it interesting and informative for you.

Welcome to a rainy Yorkshire but tomorrow me and cther are heading down to the sun we’re going down to Portsmouth we’re going to jump on the ferry with our trusty motor horn behind me and we’re heading down to cassada we’re just going to do the short route because we’re going to an

Apartment which we bought and the um we need to take some of our worldly Goods with us so we’re going down in this motor it’s a mice impressa 7.2 it’s the only one I could find it’s a Belgian Belgian made one left hand drive and I couldn’t find any any more

Of these so I’ll put this a little advert here I think this is the advert for this vehicle and it’s the only one that’s in the country if you know different you can tell me in the comments that’s if we have any viewers we are doing the intention is to do is

To do a vlog on YouTube and uh it’s really for the grandkids for posterity there’ll be all all the videos will be stashed away on YouTube and they can watch them when they’re older cuz I don’t think they be too interested while they’re young and if you’d like to follow our

Journey I’m going to be giving details of the of how much of how much we spend and uh then next year when we retire we got to find out if it’s feasible to actually live in Spain on one pension which is mine um State Pension we’ve got a bit of savings

But we’re hopefully not going to use those and that’s it so the first little video following straight on now is when we went off to the Quarry yesterday to get we and this is right on the cusp of um its weight limit catch in a bit 21st 21st of November

2023 we’re just going to go and wear the van the motor on we’ve loaded it up and we should be um we’ll see what weight we’ve got on it one more day and then we’ll adjust it accordingly one more day and we’ll have a look at this and see

What what the video is like on this it’s just on our way to the Quarry to get up at M sty to get W and then um then I’ll show you the the comparison to the previous W we’re at the W station now there’s money

Right just on our way back from the quar now Stanley and I’m check my weights when I get back on the uh on the plate and have a jiggle about I think I’m slightly over on the back axle and under on the front axle so I’m going to have to uh move stuff

Forward I’ll take stuff out I don’t know Jiggle It about Jiggle It about but I’ve still got all the camera stuff to put in which is probably 20 Kil and then we’ve got I’ve got well close to put what we’re doing is we’re taking stuff down to Spain that’s going to stay down

There our worldly good so to speak so they’re going um they’re going down this first trip and then next year when we finish work I’ll be well we’ll set the rest of the stuff down there yeah there we are now just coming up to the bottom of your bank

Top we home for now y a lovely place to be it is a nice and a lovely sight it is that’s s weird up then and these are the totals for the uh for the motor arm we’ve got total weight 3800 front axle 158 rear axle

2,140 which means I can put 30 kilos in we’ve already took loads out but I’m going to have to take a little bit more out the back Jiggle It about push the we to the front and get it up to um 38 50 which is the the total allowable on this

Motor home it’s had air suspension air air assist on the suspension so it can gross out at 3850 and that’s us so we shall see you have a wave cath we shall see you on the flip side on the way down to Portsmouth tomorrow morning we can’t wait and subscribe if
