Internet when traveling or camping. This is nothing new. I’ve already reported about it. But of course there are always new things, different things. I would like to inform you about this. Welcome to this video. It is now possible to establish an Internet connection via satellite.

I would like to talk about this in this video. But here too I met someone who reported on an inexpensive mobile phone story. One thing first: I don’t want to sell anything here. There is nothing sponsored here either. I just want to let you know what option there is.

Let’s start with the history of mobile communications! I met a camper who had a lot to say on the subject. And I also think it has an interesting offer. Yes, I met someone I already knew again. People meet in Spain by chance. This is Guido from near Cologne.

Is that right? From Cologne? From Cologne. Hello, Guido. Hello. You are, or I have to tell her, you are here with your wife on a trip to Spain. And yes, you are not retired. Not yet. And take a trip to Spain. What kind of time period do you have for yourself? 2023 2024

Is now a special year. Okay, we’ve basically moved your vacation to winter. Yes, we started on Christmas Day. And we plan to be in Spain or back again by January 20th. So that means you’ll be on the road for a good three weeks and then a few kilometers. So we said,

Okay, let’s try it too and I’m now saying, like everyone else who spends the winter, to come down to Macedonia to see what it’s really like here, because you can see it on YouTube the videos and stuff like that,

How great it all is, how the weather is, how great it is and stuff like that and we just want to try it out now. And yes, were you actually disappointed? Until now? No. Have you reserved seats? To be honest, no. Only two pieces. Yes, we continue on Monday.

I know, you told me about that before. Exactly. Yes, I forget it. Every time. We stay there for another two days. So, that’s another 170 kilometers further and then we slowly make our way back home and we ‘ll be home by the 20th . Yes, you can now see on your shirt that

You have something to do with mobile communications. I look at it and that’s how we met, I can say. Yes, you informed me well about data volume and yes, tell me what you do for a living. Okay, I’ve been doing mobile communications in Cologne for 23 years and there’s a campaign that

‘s very interesting for campers, just like it was for you when I wrote to you and talked to you about it. And a promotion from O2 where you get a tariff that normally costs €80 for 24. This tariff is for making calls, SMS flat rate, has a

Very important EU flat rate and 140 gigabytes. I’m happy to sell the tariff for campers. Why? Because he is perfect for it. This 140 GB is completely available in other EU countries, excluding Germany. So it’s not slimmed down or anything like that. Then you can just say okay,

You have the tariff once, you can make phone calls and use the Internet, you can also book a second card and it doesn’t cost anything, where you just plug the router into the motorhome and use it to supply the motorhome with WiFi. And that’s all included in the price.

And that is very, very cheap. And that’s why I wrote to you back then. You said that’s what you want and I think you’re happy with it, right? That’s exactly how it is and that’s why I would like to pass it on. And maybe I can get your cell phone number or something

Show who is interested in it. You can’t explain all of this in three sentences, what exactly is it like, would you then advise accordingly? Yes, I’m very, very happy to do that. You can provide your cell phone number and shop number, it’s no problem at all, I’ll give you everything.

All that matters to me is that I know that you have very, very many viewers. I ask for it. Because I have already experienced this, I ask you to try calling me a few times because a lot of people call me and I can’t keep up. And if I don’t call back or

It’s busy or whatever. Please try again, otherwise I won’t be able to do it. I because I do it alone. Yes, then thank you for your comments, Guido. Wish you a good trip and get home safely. We will definitely meet again somewhere. Definitely. Thank you.

If you only go to Spain for a short time, maybe once a year for four weeks, a card is a good choice. There is information about this on the Womo Iberico website. This is described in detail and you get around 100 gigabytes for €20. The way campers use the internet varies greatly.

We now need a little more and have a total of more than 200 gigabytes of data volume. I’m at Vodafone, Rita is at O2, which is what Guido just said. We are happy with that too. Rita has 140 gigabytes on O2. Now there are campers who need fast internet

And also a large data volume because, for example, they work from home or want to stream, i.e. watch TV. And there are other reasons why you need fast and good internet. I met here at the campsite. He bought a Starling system in Germany, i.e. satellite internet, and is setting it

Up here for the first time. And we can be there with the camera or I can be there with the camera. And there are two other friends, Horst and Charly. We are all interested in it. And let’s see what we find out here.

I just recorded it here while he was talking about it. None of us are experts. Mike has looked into the topic and would like to show us how relatively easy it is to set up this system. This is the bowl. It’s nothing either. That’s nothing at all.

The weight is also bearable for the twelve kilos or so and there is an extension cable here and then you plug the whole thing in. So in there. Okay, now align, just like that, now. Just for now. Exactly. So, that’s all for now. Now the cable needs to be laid.

This is the router that belongs to the system. Now this is very simple. Smooth, simple, beautiful design at the back. I don’t think it’s that special. Down there, down here. This is simply from the antenna and this is electricity 220 volts. We need those too. So it can also connect several devices.

With each device 250 could theoretically turn. Anyone who has access can now come in. This is what it looks like. Now there is electricity. And do you have an app for that, or how does that work? Yes, there is a Starling app. Then I’m registered. He has to do all of this beforehand.

And now you have 100 megabits per second. We can see now. The palm tree is probably bothering me now. So go somewhere else now. There are several satellites and they always choose the best. But the satellites are all in orbit, that is, in a string. That works.

No, they are now running globally here. They connect to other nodes. That’s what they do. First look up. Yes, GPS. And then he now knows where he is. So. Now I can check for obstacles here. Maybe that would be quite interesting in the app. Yes, and now I can check for obstacles

And then I hold it up in the air to see where obstacles are. Aha. And then I search here. Select the appropriate device. It’s STANDARD here. Yes, and high performance. That’s special again. And here is STANDARD. And now I say confirm

And now I find an open area here and I recognize the sky. I’m ready. Aha. So now I’m going up. Now look, you can see several satellites where it is best. Exactly. Ah yes. You can see that the motorhome is a bit in the way.

So you have to do this every time beforehand? This way I can at least determine whether I move the antenna somewhere else. OK. Oh well. I’m at 93% right now. But that’s good. So, and displaying the result is 95%. And here you can see a red area. Yes, it’s switched off.

And that’s probably a little way here on the palm tree and a little way here in the oblique angle, from the side of the motorhome. Yes. And you can say that’s still enough for me, or I want it to be even more optimized. So, you could do that again here.

But we don’t want to now. You can do it again later. Starling communicates with the satellites to determine its own orientation. The antenna now sends up to the satellites. Here I stand. And which satellite is the best for me now? These are different. There are several. So, Starling, if you’ve seen this before.

These are UFOs. The clear sky at night. If you look at 500 kilometers, that’s about the height they are. Then you see how the string is pulled? Yes. The Starling by Elun Musk. These satellites. Europe is almost completely covered due to this topic. The whole thing is German.

Now he has probably discovered one or more. The West, so to speak. And that was it. And then there are those in the north, they are not satellites that are continuously in one place, but rather those that wander, the satellites. It’s possible that he’ll do it again during the lesson.

I haven’t gotten that far yet today, but I could well imagine it. That could be true. I can well imagine it. And again because the whole thing makes for a static installation. Then it is flat and has only minimal movements. And when you drive, it has a wider spread.

Of course, first up on the roof, which rarely involves any obstacles. And there’s the one that moves in a very small area, just because it doesn’t have the opportunity to play around on the roof. Yes, and now I could do a speed test straight away. Yes, of course.

So now I have statistics network, obstacles, speed test and now I’ll go to advanced. Immediately. Now I have the opportunity to measure from the antenna to the router and from the router to the telephone. This is currently the only network that I have connected to here. And then

It also measures from the phone back to the router. Exactly, interesting. It’s usually not that high, but let’s take a look. So now 350 Mbit is coming in or download from the antenna to the router and upload it tells us 53 megabit upload. So, and now the cell phone comes from the router

To the cell phone. I now have 260 Mbit and upload from the cell phone to the router 320, 350. That’s exactly what’s here still a bit slower than now with a cable connection. Here we have 49 Mbit right now, which is a lot.

So if it’s called 5G, of course you also have 100. That’s no question. But this is now 49 Mbit upload, which is good. The only thing that needs to be said again here is that this is how I read it. It’s for gamers, gamers so to speak,

Because the ping number is very high. So gamers probably need pings below ten. Yes / Yes. And the ping numbers are significantly higher here. I want to see if I can get another clue about it. 44 milliseconds is the ping number. It’s too slow for gamers, so to speak.

If they should play online. But here I definitely have from the cell phone to the router, it now tells me 222 Mbit download and 27 Mbit upload, still a lot. Sufficient. Top. And for me that is completely independent. If I have an antenna, that’s good.

If I don’t have one, I set the thing up and then I’m finished setting it up here in ten minutes, have my stable net and can work and then put it away again. And it already works like that, that’s all that needs to be set up. You can now surf like this.

Yes / Yes. So if you went on YouTube now? Let’s take a look on YouTube. And you just put a video on something somewhere. So, then let’s call up the right thing. Haco. So and there is also Lisa and Horst. Looks good. Where do I know the music from?

Yes, yes, it can happen so, so quickly. And razor-sharp image. Everything is as it should be. And this offer? Maik bought the whole thing on special offer for 299. So the hardware currently costs €450. The monthly fees are €59. That’s quite interesting. And can you cancel it monthly? We can do that.

Does that mean I want to stay in Spain for three months , use that and then go home and then I have my connection? Absolutely the same. And the purchase, that is the hardware. Have you currently paid 299? Exactly 299 for the antenna. Router is included. Including my now including router.

The only thing I have here now, because I want to check again whether it is compatible with my network, is this Ethernet adapter. Where the LAN cable comes in again. So you want to make this clear again, you want to connect the router that comes with it

To your existing mobile router with a LAN cable? Exactly. Yes, that is easily possible. Do you have to set up a lot with the app? You can probably download it for free. Precisely. Assign a password for the WiFi network. Yes, and then just log into the WiFi network.

Of course it creates its own on the router. Yes exactly. I have now designated this here with my name and addition. Yes, in such a way that it can be found again immediately if it is now entered directly from home . They are considering fixing it statically at one point at the top.

But if you are, for example, now that you have the palm tree and that’s exactly where the attachment points are, you’re screwed. So there is I think the variant would be current for me if you have it up on the roof. Otherwise, here is a tripod to 2 meter above adapter piece.

There’s also something for that, which you then put on top. Then that’s it. Tighten screws at the bottom left and top. Theft protection. Anyone can steal it, but no one can use it, from what I read. And it is also equipped with a GPS function,

Which means that if someone uses it or notices it, I don’t know whether anyone has had this experience before. In any case, it sounds to me like GPS support, so that you also have a chance or at least the thief. Because if he doesn’t have the opportunity

To use it well or for a long time, if he can use it at all, because he actually has to have the password specifically for this. Do you also get a landline number? Can you put a landline over it?

That means, like at home, a telephone with an area code, which is available from other providers. So here it is now, I would say, like I just said. If I now have a Fritzbox that connects to it and then uses mobile phones via it, that ‘s possible.

As a landline number, there are some that offer that. But they also have a different system. So there is no phone number here or any SIM card, you don’t need any of that. And therefore just to build a network now. That would work if you worked with the Fritzbox again

Like we do at home. So whether the DSL connection goes into the Fritzbox or the antenna goes directly into the Fritzbox and from there a telephony system is set up or a network is set up. And you now have a throughput of 100 megabits per second over your thumb. What were you guaranteed?

Let’s say yes, yes. So you hear about 100, that’s average. We just had 250 have not optimal alignment because the palm tree is on top and there are three angles here. So you could go somewhere else just for fun, but that’s actually ideal. We need 120 gigawatts and then it’s over.

I read that there should also be a limit here. So a friend who had a lot of throughput in Sardinia had no problems, no limits, had to move a lot of data back and forth because he worked with the company and on the server.

But I’ve read, I don’t think it’s ad hoc now. Where that where that was in there. Theoretically it makes sense to limit this. Yes, but I think that’s just what it says at the moment and I haven’t heard of anyone taking advantage of it yet. So monthly.

Always on the first like with Telekom or four weeks moderately? Four weeks. I got it on December 25th . I hadn’t connected it yet, but now had the first activation, it runs automatically from January 25th. Yes and runs now until February 25th. Yes, if I don’t cancel, I’ll stay

And have peace of mind and won’t have to pay €59 more. For the next month I won’t cancel and will continue to use it. Also in February, at the end of February and also in at the end of March. Then I pay another €59. It’s also legitimate. Yes, completely legitimate.

Let’s move on to the next question. Yes, you’re coming home now. Do you have a provider EWE or whatever at home? And now I’ve been here in Spain for six months. I’ll continue to pay. I can’t say it’s on a monthly basis,

But I either have to cancel or I have to pay for the months? Theoretically, you take a break at home, do the thing, and pay around €59. Yes, that would be a possibility. Calculation example You’re at home too, I’ll say, if you don’t have DSL now, i.e. I don’t have it

At home, I have 5G. Normally I could expand the network and that would be enough. It always depends on what you want and what you need to have on the LAN connection at home. Of course you also have the phone number, which I don’t need because we only talk on cell phones.

But then I could deregister my €49.90 at home and when I’m home, I’m home. Do I put the thing at home and do all my WiFi traffic via this device with how many gigabytes? Are you saying 120 online now? So as I said, gigabytes at home I don’t think are limited.

Okay, if you have this static. If you’re in this itinerary, though. It’s currently the same price or €350. It was now in December that they gave me 100 € per month for this trip antenna and 59 € fixed current. And then Hartmut made me realize that they had changed something.

And I read it yesterday too. They also debited me €59. Actually €59 for the first activation and also for the subsequent activation. It’s your property now, you don’t have to send it back later? You can also rent. I know of another provider who now says three months

Free so you can test it out. The whole story is also a measure. So, now let’s see how we can make Starling packaging-capable again. So I’m going to Starling now. And tell Starling to stow away in protective position. That’s it. Except for the fixed ones, which are then firmly mounted at the top.

There’s the thing, there’s also a heater in there, by the way. So if it snows, you can set it here, either to automatic or just manual. If you want to turn it on yourself, it will thaw the snow away because when there is snow on it, there will be no

More satellite reception or reception. And in this respect there is an automatic heater in it, which then thaws the snow. That was some information about Internet via satellite, in this case about the Starling brand. This won’t be an option for most campers. The whole thing because you

Can get by completely with the data volume from your mobile contract. But of course there are others who work online and need to move large amounts of data. Or like me, because I upload my videos. I need between 10 and 20 gigabytes per video.

So that’s a certain amount of data that I then use. I always think that you have to have seen or heard something like that, then you can assess whether I need something like that or don’t I need something like that? And that was it again.

I say thank you for watching and bye bye until next time.

Weiter so. HG. Aus Erftstadt

Weiter so. Grüße Anja und Michael

Starlink braucht ca. 60W an 230V.
