In this Episode 4 from the 2024 Telford Classic Dirt Bike Show we check out some more interesting motorcycle classics including a rare Italian Moto Gori Trials Bike and a nice 1974 MX250 Yamaha motocrosser.

Yes hello once again welcome back to your number one and favorite classic dirt bike TV channel as we continue to make our way through our uh hours of footage from the 2024 tford classic dirt bike show and hope you’ve enjoyed the first previous three episodes that we’ve

Posted we still have plenty machines for you to take a look at so we’re going to crack on and and get straight into our latest uh posting which of course will be episode number four right okay so first up here in uh this episode four from the tford show

It’s this big fourstroke uh b50 engine that’s sitting inside what looks like to me an old uh BSA frame because I don’t think this is actually a proper CCM classic because uh it does have have what looks like a 1974 alloy CCM fuel tank as well but it

Certainly has a look of a kind of bike that’s been made up of bits and pieces and there was certainly no information with this bike on the day that I grabbed these little Clips so it certainly appears to have the big b50 CCM motor there uh to power

It now this uh engine here is of course course painted black as you can see but of course the stock at CCM engines back in the day were more or less all unpainted in that 1970s period but it’s still quite a nice looking old twin chalk racer nonetheless and it’s

Probably been put together by using just a selection of various different spare parts but I’m quite confident that it’s nothing to do with the late Alan Clues Classics from back in the day although it still has that quite rare CCM BSA b50 engine which I’m sure uh your loyal CCM bike builders

Would just love to get their hands on uh this engine because these Clues Motors are becoming quite scarce to find these days but then again that’s what makes at the tford show exactly what it is each year there’s always something different there to take a look at and this classic

Four banger is another fine example of what was on display this year and actually on that subject of original CCMS this 1978 Clues classic was yet another beauty that was tightly packed in among the many other rare Classics in the main hall and this area here is usually where

All the rare and exotic machines are usually tucked away but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if this is another uh one of those Rob Hues machines because Rob has one of the best collections of original CCMS possibly uh even in Europe and he’s he’s got one and often two examples of

Each and every CCM that alen clu ever built from clu’s first bike in 1973 right up until the very last CCM bike of 2011 when at that time they used the Yamaha YZF 4004 stroke engine in their CCM uh frame but this 1978 500

Is a superb piece of Kit with all of the proper Parts in it including the original castal number plate there who were one of ccm’s sponsors at that particular time but a proper old school Scrambler from the he days of the 1970s a true classic the 1978 500 uh CCM

So this was another quite nice looking bike sitting on Andy Elliot’s uh hva Factory husana stand and uh this was another one of the many bikes that were being offered up for sale over the course of the two days of the show although there was no price at all on

This bike so I don’t actually know what Andy was asking for it but it’s a big 430 CR hoty not original naturally and maybe it could be a 1981 or even an 82 model but it wasn’t that easy to get some shots on this bike because of the many

Crowds that were mulling around the bike but uh if it’s come from Andy’s hva Factory Outlet then it’ll probably be right and would certainly make a good weekend twin chot racer uh for somebody although certainly for their time these 430 husk engines were pretty good uh Motors and quite similar to the

Big 500 that I used to have in my 83 husk back in the day but these definitely make a fantastic twin shock racer because they are fast and quite reliable as well and uh through Outlets uh like hva Factory spare parts are normally still available if you need

Them and if you can’t Source brand new original Old Stock parts then there’s usually somebody out there that’s making pattern or replacement components to fit onto your old husky but uh still quite an unusual color scheme on this uh 430 with the yellow Plastics and that black uh fuel

Tank but uh still a very nice bike regardless and it would have been uh quite interesting to find out what sort of price this bike was being sold for because these twin chockers fers do sell for quite good money and they’re very popular choices with the twinshock and

Classic Racers but uh I suppose if you are interested in wanted to actually find out the price of this bike then it’s probably best just to drop Andy a message at hva factory and he’ll then furnish you with all the details you need to know about this black

Beauty although if you were looking for a bargain at the show I think the Sunday was probably the best day to make a deal because I did see some bikes for sale on the Saturday with quite Hefty price tags and the ones that didn’t sell on the Saturday certainly had the prices dropped

Substantially by the Sunday but uh nevertheless this is still another lovely twin shock racer from Andy Elliot at hva factory okay so our next uh Club stand uh visit is to the 125 twinshock air cooled cup display where these guys have their own championship for these smaller air

Cooled twin chalk machines and first up it’s a quite nice looking CR 125 Honda which is one of the more popular bikes in this racing series mainly because uh there’s usually plenty of them around so it’s quite easy to lay your hands on one of these bikes if you want to get into

Racing in this 125 Championship now as far as a know the 125 air cooled cop has a nine round Championship this year with most of the racing events being held in the south of the UK so if you’re maybe into your two-stroke 125 screamers then it might

Be worthwhile taking in one or two of their events and and you can get more details of dates and locations if you just take a look at their uh Facebook page but these were another uh pair of cracking looking bikes on the club’s display two very nice looking YZ 125

Yamahas but from which year I’m not exactly sure but again immaculately turned out and quite typical of the kind of air cooled 125s that you can see racing if you pop along to one of their race events but I’m assuming that this particular pair of bikes here are Mike James’s race

Machines going by the name that’s printed on the number plate graphics and as I remember these old y z125s were certainly very quick bikes in their day and they did have a superb chassis that you could chuck around the track relatively easily and of course that two-stroke YZ engine as well uh would

Rev to the moon and back as I recall but as I said you can see that Mike has two of these y heads here on display both in fantastic condition for appear of machines that have not long finished a full racing seasoned and uh it certainly looks like Mike’s been very

Busy throughout the winter getting both of these machines ready again for another year of hard work on the track although if you are out and about throughout the summer this year and the maybe fancy taking in one or two of the twin shock air cooled uh 125 race events

Then certainly make a point of going along because uh this is a a very healthy championship and there never seems to be a short of bikes to go to the start line which certainly makes for a great spectacle when you can get 20 or so of these 125s going full pilt around

Uh the track now this was another tasty looking trials bike that I came across on my travels a nice Italian Moto gory Mt 325 by JP Customs components another rare Italian Stallion that you hardly ever see these days but again another nice piece of kit here decked out in the Moto gory green

Livery now of course as I’ve mentioned before trials bikes aren’t really my personal bag and I’m certainly not up to speed with all that goes on in the trials world but I’m pretty sure that this Moto Gori trials bike had something to do with the other Italian bike

Manufacturer s swm or Speedy working Motors as they were sometimes called because you can see that it certainly shares some swm parts like at the front and rear hubs and that rear swing arm as well and as with the Moto gory and s swm scramblers and uro bikes of their day

These Gories use that bulletproof rotax uh two-stroke motor with that rotary disc valve induction uh system but this stainless steel exhaust system here is almost certainly custom made maybe even by JP custom components themselves but uh again it’s a quality uh piece of engineering as you can see all neatly it

Tucked in nice and tight to the frame to keep the bike’s profile as narrow as possible and with regards the actual year of manufacturer of this motori trials machine I’m pretty sure that this will be around uh possibly the early 1980s or maybe even a 1981 bike and uh once more it was

Another one of those bikes that wasn’t that easy to get some decent shots off on the day because of the crowds that were walking around the halls but I still managed to get some still pictures in between the gaps of the tford punters but for me personally speaking I

Think this is the very first motoori trials bike that I’ve come across because I have seen plenty motoori scramblers and a few Enduro bikes in the past my travels but I’ll have to say this is the first Italian motoi travels bike that I’ve actually seen in what a

Cracking looking bike it is as well and I can only imagine that it’s quite a nice bike to ride as well okay so the next uh featured bike uh is Terry pickerings 1974 250 MX Yamaha which Terry has very kindly loaned to the Hagen shocks guys

To display on their stand uh who of course we also have to give a little mention to here because Hagen are again a major sponsor of this year’s classic dirt bike show and sponsors of previous years of this show as well but uh if you’re in the market for shocks for your

Old CL CLC Road motocrosser trials or even Speedway bike then uh these Hagen guys are definitely the ones to talk to if you need your rear suspension uh sorted out anyhow uh back to our featured mx250 Yamaha and as I said this nice twin shocker here is another fine

Machine from Terry’s vast collection of rare classic dirt bikes and this is one of two Yamahas that Terry’s been busy restoring during the last year or so but certainly for the time these were pretty awesome race bikes and they certainly had to be because this was the year that

Honda had just launched a mighty CR250 Elenor in this year so our little Yamaha here was up against some big competition if it was going to compete with the other three Japanese Giants of Suzuki Kawasaki and of course Honda now these MX 250s engines were uh a readed valve induction 5speed uh

Two-stroke that had CDI electronic ignition and of course a Japanese Muni carburetor to feed it with its fuel but again there was no need to premix the fuel with the oil as these 250s had the uh Auto Lube system where by a little oil pump here on this right hand side of

The casing Drew oil from a separate oil tank usually housed behind one of the bikes side panels and it then pumped oil to all of the important parts of the engine but certainly uh no question these MX 250s even its bigger brother the 360 were very quick machines in

Their day and Ultra reliable as well as long as of course they were looked after and maintained H correctly but they say that these MX 252 Strokers were about as close as you could get to the Yamaha Works bikes of their day now in the bikes uh front suspension

Department these uh Forks were about as good as you could muster uh for the mid 1970s they never really had much in the way of tuning or being able to make adjustments to the forks but this was about 40 years ago so uh these were certainly the Motocross suspension

Technologies of its time now the braks again were still old school shoes and drum type Affairs maybe not as powerful as your modern day hydraulic brakes but these still manage to slow or even stop the bike if you pulled hard enough on that uh brake lever and as we continue along the back

Of the bike the original 1974 Yamaha shocks that were bolted onto this bike in that year uh would have been just quite basic dampers and as you can see Terry’s now swapped these for a pair of these much better Hagen classic shocks which will certainly perform better and

Have a bit more in the way of being able to make Minor Adjustments to the rebound and the damping uh here on the rear but this is certainly another fine looking motorcycle to add to Terry’s already impressive ction of old dirt bikes and he’s certainly made a good job

Of getting this vintage racer back to Prime condition once again of course it’s not all 100% uh original from 74 because I don’t think that this front number plate is absolutely correct but then again it might not be that easy to still get New Old Stock parts for these

Older MX Yamahas but it’s still all been done to a very good standard of course as are all of the bikes in Terry’s collection but without doubt another very rare item and uh you just don’t see these old MX 250s or even the 360s out there on the tracks now in

These modern times so there can’t be too many of these two 50s still on the go and thankfully Terry’s managed to save yet another one from what maybe even could have been uh just a parts donor bike but uh if you’re a regular uh viewer to my cdb TV channel then you’ll

Already have seen quite a few examples of Terry’s Classics from time to time and uh this is the latest addition to what is already as I said a comprehensive and extremely rare collection of motorcycles in Terry’s Aladdin’s Cave of vintage Racers although this was another interesting display of bike and Rider

And apparently this is team wrinkley Fred Clutterbuck and try seeing that after you’ve had a few beers in you now it looked like Fred the motorcycle mannequin was sitting on what looked like an old Cotton 250 motorcycle but what the actual connection was between the name bike and

The rider uh I don’t actually have a clue but it was an interesting display with Fred all decked out here in his motorcycle gear although by looking at the expression on that face it doesn’t look like he’s too impressed with with what’s going on around him at the show

But it was certainly something different and the only bike that had a rider permanently sitting a stride on it and it certainly made for some good photos and comments from the show Spectators as they ambled past so there you go that’s Fred clatterbuck okay so next up uh this was

Another fine British bike that I spied at the show and this was yet another classic Rickman matis matchless uh not too different from the other red bike that we saw in a previous episode from the show but uh this one decked out in this gray type of

Livery and as I’ve said it before that’s the beauty of these Rickman frame kits because you can buy a custom uh frame to suit whichever engine you require whether it’s a a two-stroke or maybe even a fourstroke uh Rickman can certainly Supply the chassis all ready

Just to drop your motor uh into and of course you can also have your body panels of the tank and the side panels the mudguards and that rear tail cone in whichever that takes your fancy so if you want to build a British custom special in your own color scheme then usually Rickman

Can make up a frame kit to complete uh the job so again in our particular Rickman frame here it’s a big single cylinder 500 fourstroke uh matchless uh motor maybe uh one of those uh G8 85 CS engines uh which as I remember uh stood for competition at Scrambler but

Certainly don’t quote me on that figure because uh these big matchless models aren’t really something that I’m too familiar with but I’ve certainly seen other examples of these 500s in other motorcycle frames in the past now again I’m pretty sure that it was a dry clutch on these big fourstroke

Singles and the gearbox also was probably a Norton AMC uh pre-unit type of transmission which was a popular addition to many big British Classics of their day although these transmissions and this one here in particular does have a matchless cap on the side of the gearbox which was quite a common

Practice depending on which kind of engine the gearbox was bolted onto and as we move on to the front end of our Rickman match list we have what looks like that these could be atalian serani Forks or maybe even a pair of those metal profile Forks because it’s

Quite hard uh to tell but uh the original matchless scramblers with the uh original matchless frames back in the day I think did use forks from Norton as a remember but this uh front hub is certainly unmistakably a matchless part and in fact these matchless hubs were

Used on many of the old British Classic Bikes from the 1960s because it was relatively light being made of alloy and the ACT break itself was very good for an old school drum stopper now this Rickman Bodywork kit is as far as a no still being manufactured

In fiberglass just as the original frame kits were back in the 1960s and normally this uh fuel tank here would also have been made of fiberglass but it appears that our owner here has opted for the much better and more userfriendly alloy replacement which although slightly heavier than the fiberglass

Item it doesn’t uh incur the same kind of problems with modern day fuels that the older fiberclass tanks did if you leave uh fuel stored in them for long uh periods of time and uh up here at the front of our Rickman matchless it appears to still

Have all of the correct controls for that era with these period grips and of course the ball end lers which were very common on these old classics back in their day but the great Dawn and Derek Rickman who were certainly successful riders in their own right during the

1950s and the later went on to design and build these Rickman chassis beginning with of course their original Mark 1 that they built in 19 59 but they also went on to build various other chassis not only for off-road bikes but uh for many road goinging and road

Racing machines as well and it’s quite amazing when you think that Rickman frames are still being manufactured even to this very day so there you have it another nice British classic a lovely Rickman matchless and another great machine to finish off this episode 4 from the 2024 tford classic dirt bike

Show so there you have it that’s uh the latest collection of old classics from this year’s 2024 tford classic dirt bike show as I said we’ve still got quite a bit of footage to get through we maybe have at least another two episodes before we finish the series so there’s

Plenty bikes to take a look at and if you’ve not already signed up and subscribed to my cdb TV channel then do try and make a point of doing that because that way you won’t miss out on any future videos that I post on my channel but for the time being being

Thanks once again for taking the time to watch my video content and until the next time it’s goodbye for now
