Hi and welcome to today’s one take bike tip today we’re going to go through how to fit a tire that is um that’s difficult to get on the rim okay so before we start doing that I think it’s really important that we have a good look actually at what a

Rim is like so this is one that’s been cut through a cross-section and there’s two parts that you need to consider so this is the well and just in here is where the bead sits and that is how you this is so important to fitting so the well and

Then the bit that the tire sits in now when people um tend to fit a tire what they do is they fit this part first which means and then the tire comes around here which means it wants to sit here what you need to do is try and get

The bead into there to start with and then once the tire’s fitted it’s here so I’m going to try and show you that this is really difficult to do without um without um in one take but ever the Challenger I’m going to try so let’s position this down here so you can

See the tire and the wheel let’s zoom out a Bit okay hopefully this will work so if you make sure that the bead is in the well rather than in the bit that it grips you can just pull the tire on and then you make sure that that bit as you can see it rotates but if

That was up in the B part you can’t rotate it so you have to make sure if you imagine how much smaller that the circumference of the well is compared to the circumference of the bit that holds the bead and then your next bit is just to push this on and you’ll

Notice when I push it on I’m pushing it into the well So that it just and then you’ve just got this little last bit to do which you can do with your fingers but because we used the well rather than the bead part we’re in a position where by now because it’s in the in the well and then once you’re in that

Position then you can put some air in there’s another thing you can do as well if you’ve got um tire that’s stuck on if you get sponge with some soapy water on and soak this Edge everything becomes slipperier which means it’s easier to actually get it onto the rib so those are the two things you can do but just to recap the bigest mistake people make is they tend to put the um they tend to try and fit the tire into this bit before

They’ve got the whole tire on I don’t know if we can get that to into this bead so if you imagine that’s nearly 8 mm bigger circumference so push the tire into the well rather than into the into the bit that holds the bead and do the

Same on the other side and they should go on a lot easier and you can help yourself by using a bit of soapy water so don’t panic about using soapy water once the tire’s on you can dry it and once you pump it out on sorry once you

Pump the inner tube up that will force all of that soapy water out and you’ll have a perfectly fitted Tire hopefully this helped you this week um but just remember get the tire into the into the well rather than into the bead that’s the trick to getting your tires on if they’re tight
