The Bedford Township Park Commission in December voted in favor of demolishing Parmalee Skate Park due to safety concerns.

New tonight. Bedford township is in the process of demolishing a skate park though there are those who want it to stay put, but the township says it’s just not safe. Andre Norris joins us live in studio tonight. So Andre is the park gone yet.

Well, Jeff, not yet, but a good chunk of Parmele skate park is. The park commission says it will be completely taken down though. There might be a solution, but it comes with a big price price tag. This is what Parmele Skate Park looked like before Ashton Ridgeley and Jack Rocker come

Here often and say they rely on it. We have nowhere else to lie but Highland pretty much unless you go to Monroe. Obviously, it’s, it’s a lot nicer to have something in your backyard. So to say, while the entrance is currently locked, cruz removed the back fence during the demolition,

Allowing these riders access and a first look at the park in this shape. Honestly, I’m heartbroken. I mean, this is, this is home for me and a lot of the other kids and it’s just, I mean, we were kind of blindsided. We found out about this.

I don’t know, two maybe three days ago by now and half of it’s already gone. But Bedford township supervisor, Paul Peron says the topic isn’t new. This has been going on for years. He says the park needed repairs and something needed to be done.

It’s rotted in a lot of areas and it’s, it’s unsafe. A lot of the screws have come up that you can’t put back in. So he made the decision to close the gates about five months ago. He says the town’s insurance company was also concerned.

Peroni alerted the Bedford Park Commission which controls the park. You either need a fix it, hire a company to fix it. They have funds to fix it, they could vote to fix it and they voted to close it down. Peron says the commission is considering a new skate park

That will cost at least half a million dollars. Realistically, I was really hoping we could just get this thing the love it deserves. But at the end of the day, you know, I’m, I’m definitely not opposed to getting a replacement pro says the park commission plans to present ideas for the

New park at the upcoming trustee meeting on Tuesday. The trustees would most likely vote on whether the discussion to build a new park can move forward reporting in studio Andre Knowles of UT well, 11
