After Wrexham broke their four game losing streak at Sutton United, Phil Parkinson signs his praises for his squad.

Hello everybody Welcome to the local pundit I’m Josh Anthony this is your reom news and update show for February 14th yes it is Valentine’s Day uh yes it is Happy Valentine’s Day to everybody and want to get a quick show up it’s I know it’s a little late for some people

Just put it up a couple minutes ago want to make sure we get a little bit of update going on here but uh you know I want to start off first before we get into anything else and just say um I hope I just want to put uh uh thoughts

And prayers out to everyone that was at or was affected today uh in um in Kansas City uh tragedy that happened there so want to say we were thinking about everyone out there that was affected by injured uh sadly loss of life um any want to put that out there

That we’re thinking about you so um it’s unfortunate and um you know we’re thinking about you in casc so I know that’s side starting off but I want to start there before we get into anything else so thoughts and prayers goes out should never those things should never

Happen um so yeah we’re thinking about you uh on that note yes it is uh it is Valentine’s Day so happy Valentine’s Day to everybody um I hope that everyone’s uh spending time with their loved ones people that care about um and uh you know they’re enjoying themselves so you

Know I said it’s a little late 7:15 here but want to get something up there’s pretty slow news day after a win yesterday but as far as far as rexim is concerned and as you can see up there parky parky sings his Praises that’s the title of the show tonight um so that’s

What we’re going to talk about there’s a there’s a art parkon some some quotes from Parkinson yesterday I want to get to so um again like share subscribe I hope everyone is okay again uh like said we started out the show just talking about what happened in KC but you know

Played really well um I don’t think it was a perfect game but it was a game that maybe if it was perfect perfect it would have looked on a reflection 20 is it on a reflection 24 hours later I’m thinking like if it was per perfect we’

Be like ah this is easy we’re just gonna bounce right back the good news is was that we battled back for that win and I we didn’t talk about that yesterday kind of mentioning that yesterday but like the good news is we battled back for

That win and um we earned it we didn’t play perfect we made four changes we started JM up front with Fletch uh we started bolt and we saw what he was about a little bit I think he’s really fantastic um and I think he’s going to make a big

Difference I also think Jam’s going to make a big difference too and also giving some other guys a rest um IE like muls coming on late and Palmer coming on late so we can get this rotation but you know on reflection of this you know uh yesterday’s match inating after having a

Losing streak I think it was good that it wasn’t just easy you know we won 4-0 you know I think that would have been uh I think that would have been too uh just kind of too obvious in a way where it’s like yeah you want to enjoy that as a as

A supporter but but the fact that the brazili I is still there with this team they never give up and I think we um have that mentality I also think it might have been the black kit but what do I know I’m just kidding uh no that

Wasn’t the black kid it was it was it was good coaching uh it was good management of the um it was good management of the of the side and other players as well and again like I said I think it would have been a far it would

Have been far of a less um appropriate for us to have that Victory if it was just like a a banger oh we crushed him whatever so I’m glad we had to fight for that one too so um yeah so I was thinking about that yesterday and today

So um I uh I just want to get to this real quick uh and again you know I thought that Parkinson um you know his team selection was good um and I thought that uh changing things up and we had a debate last night on the show about you

Know not having toes in there toer was actually dropped fully yesterday and not having a toer thrower in there I thought conell was a lot better on the ball than toer um I’m not sure year if toes doesn’t make it he’d be in the center of

The park playing in that position but um you know I really thought that um okell played well um I don’t the reason why he’s not as quick as a Hayden or he’s not as quick as a Max or a um or who’s on the other side or or a stash so like

Him staying in that Center roll I thought really was effective so maybe that’s something going forward for next year granted we got to things progress but um I really thought played well he wasn’t exposed for his uh for his speed and his agility so that was a good sign

I wanted to point that out we didn’t talk about yesterday and um you know a lot a lot of good things came out of it too that didn’t look like a really sexy win but it was a win three you it was it was a 2-1 could have been three lately

Could have put it away put another one away yesterday on a different day could have been 3-1 but um you know it was it was all in all a good a good a good job yesterday so just G to move on a little bit had some Parkinson quotes here that

The way they came through this Scrappy contest with Sutton United and pick up a much Leed win to end the baron run yes rexen went into the Clash uh at the grander grander Green Lane on the back of four successive defeats with three of those coming in League two to put a dent

In the promotion challenge now uh on that note saying that too there was some favorable really really favorable results to us we still have games in hand um and uh you know obviously Barrow losing and Stockport losing people want to draw with crew but you know to team

That scares you the most and not to be like alarmist but Mansfield Jesus H I mean Jesus H I think they had five players in the team of the week this or four players or something like that I think three of them at hat tricks I mean

Insane so something keep an eye on we do play them I believe the second to last match uh and also too you know we play knots on Saturday we play knots on Saturday and um you know they beat they beat Newport who are side as well so

Things we need to look at but we did get some favorable results yesterday um moving on I said was a tough game against the second bottom Sutton who are battling to avoid relegation but rexim Triumph for a to1 to climb up to fourth in the table six points behind Stockport

Leaders uh Phil Parkinson quoted it was always going to be tough Su our team fighting for their lives yeah and that’s the other thing too those teams at the bottom they’re not they’re not just going to go tits up like yeah beat the hell out of us that team was good they

Had they had some quality on there too that’s had some really good quality on the wings uh that I was really impressed with uh yeah I can’t think of his name I think it was number 11 I think it was number 11 was actually a good player for

Them and their keeper was pretty pretty decent as well he said conditions were against us in the first half but when you’re when you’re under the C you have got to stay strong and come through those periods unscathed and we did that we defended and set plays brilliantly we

Did uh we did we we wrote our luck a little bit too that with the corners and everything too uh so yeah uh Michael Hillier is up morning just woke up for work at 3:20 a.m. here hey man uh we you’re in are you in the UK uh no

And then when we got the goal just and then we got the goal just before halftime uh suton equalized in the 74th minute with Charlie L lakens free kick uh took a deflection uh and wrong for the goalkeeper AO so that was you know it’s a it’s a deflection goal you

Know I’m surprised that wasn’t an OG an an old goal so um you was a good battle like I said them coming back and us having to battle back and go back and win that match I think was really really effective uh he goes on to say uh Sutton

Started started the quicker of the two teams in the second half and Arthur pulled off a world class save and he did Arthur was solid yesterday uh seems he had a I know he you know he was a little bit wobbly against um against Blackburn but I think he’s he’s played well

Southford I didn’t really think he had the best game but you he’s 22 years old things these things are going to happen up and down games and Christ I’m not perfect every day I’m exhausted today by the way I’m absolutely gassed today um been been a full week got a lot you know

But I’m gassed so these guys at 22 years old yes you bounce back they’re not going to be uh perfect every single match and you can’t expect that so um but anyways yeah uh he he did he AO was really good uh AO played played really

Really well but the the respon uh but the response when they scored was outstanding and that’s true that’s why I think this was actually a better win than it showed on paper with a two1 2-1 when it wasn’t like a 5 or or 4-nil or whatever um us to come back and battle

Back to get that win I think made it more impressive now granted wasn’t perfect and we have some things we need to work out I still thought we were playing a little bit of lump ball a little bit of a big sand ball um but either way it it was it was positive

Very very positive going into this weekend’s match uh Palmer and uh Palmer and Mullen came off the bench and place of Marriott and Steve Fletcher just for S and leveled proving fresh legs in the attack and I think that’s key we got five Subs in these matches Jesus

Use them I’m not saying it needs to be like rotation City uh during the game but we have five Subs we got we have five Strikers we have JM we have Palmer we have Fletch we have Dolby and we have who’s the other guy I missing one um uh

JM Fletcher Palmer Mullen Mullen I’m forgetting Mullen and Doby we have five Strikers so effectively we could we could definitely rotate at the front too if we needed to you know who else have five stri you know who else used to have Strikers four four or five Strikers was

Sir Alex Ferguson back in the day so when Palmer and Mullen came on they were energetic and they were doing good onws you know at the time they were you know the game opened up a a bit so you know that that was that was really good um to

See that happen uh anyways proving fresh legs in the attack the duel both went close scoring before Elliot scored the winner within five minutes Parkinson Praises two stri the two Striker saying when mes and Ali came on they were great and they were great you know Mullen has

Not been good um I’m not saying good Mullen has not been Tip Top uh in the last um last few weeks maybe some pressure uh you know maybe he’s not fully fit we talked about his maybe his lung issue if if that’s still a thing that’s something we’re talking about

Something I don’t want to create like a narrative but it’s something that we’re talking about is um here on the pundit so um you know it’s fine but you know maybe that is a thing maybe it isn’t thing um but the thing is you know M Katan plays 90 minutes almost every

Other game 85 minutes him having rest and options is great I do like I said yesterday I see that he sees JM and and Mullen as like basically the same player so you know I don’t know if he’s going to play them two together he likes a big

And a little he does like a big and a little Parky so um he says Parkinson says they gave us a lift when they when we needed it and it looked they looked like a real threat and they did they gave absolutely everything for that period of the game and that’s what we

Needed there is no quarter given it’s a full it was full all out football commitment yeah and as you can see at the end of the game they were gassed hands on H hands on knees blowing sweat coming through the black kit um you know just they they did put

It all out there I think that was the turning point game that I thought we would have uh against Salford that was the turning point game where like you saw them put put it all out there put a balls to the wall and do it so uh cool

To see uh northern border says Bolton looks legit northern border Bolton does look legit he was solid really really solid um really pacy um defended well enough to like okay cool you know he is the right wing back he’s probably better going forward than he is back uh him and Barnett working

Together off each other was U is going to be a good battle there but as you see he didn’t bring Barnett on I mentioned this yesterday he brought Mendy on he thought Mendy would be the better defensive player when we went ahead after after the Elli leagal so but he

Was gonna bring Barnett on so Northern B good good shout uh B would you do you rate him over Barnett or do you is it a good rotation there um so let’s see hey so Michael Hillier said Sutton are an improved team and battling well fighting

For their lives but they are likely to be a national team uh League team next season uh season the performance of our players should be better than uh better glad for the win yeah we got to think to the fact that you know um I mean it’s a

Tough league as you know Michael um but you gotta take into the fact that uh we were starting the rot you know a little bit in our you know we were getting people getting on each other you know supporters team got know what’s going on behind behind the scenes um I might drop

This in here too by the way uh if I wants to come in um you know what’s going on behind the scenes and it the pressure builds you know the pressure really does build and you think like no when are we gonna win our next match you

Know that happens I’ve been in teams myself when we played and we’re you know we weren’t we weren’t that great over a period of time and it seems more daunting to win a game um than anything else and it just kind of grows in a metastized into something that um you

Don’t expect to be with players uh of that caliber especially in this League uh he says um let nor well we are Rex him he says no one’s no one’s going to give a to give us every no one is sorry me BR this is Parkinson again sorry we

Are reom no one’s going to give us everything it’s it is another Full House and they’re and they’re gonna fight a bit harder against us yeah that he said we’re gonna get everyone’s best best fist we talked about that all season we G to get everyone’s best fist every

Single game he said but we we stood strong some really good performances from us and there were there were some really good performances not perfect but good performances uh Lee scored his 14th goal of the Season yeah it was his 14th that his 15 well taken finish with Luke

Bolt Bolton’s pass to secure the three points Luke Bolton made that happen he created that goal he was the effort he went at it passed the ball to Lee Lee put in the back of the net you know just like done and I thought that was great

Bolton made that made that goal happen so good on him I really thought he was great yesterday uh Ellie is a terrific player says Parkinson he was unlu not to score at the weekend uh but he was unlucky not to score at the weekend but it’s another goal for him he’s got the

Ability but it matters most to produ Kimo and he did I think la lee needed a good match uh you know I thought that he would maybe sit mes or Lee or MAA obviously macka was the um was the captain but he did he did sit Ms and ell

Lead did up getting the start now more importantly too as you move forward I’ll get to this real quick um forward I’ll talk about these injuries possibly uh if there’s an issue here Sutton’s record does not show their heart of the team I’m pulling for them but they but if

They drop down they will be back in leag 2 in no time not if we get some of their players we can take some of their players really good um they’re a good side it’s a tough League man it’s a really tough League northern border says

The way came on and played really well I thought Luke young played well grew grew into the match um controlled that Midfield well for a guy who hasn’t been playing a ton so um that was a good sign for me to see him come and and do that

So if Gio is out which I don’t want to be an extended period um I think you know Luke young getting a run of games or one or two games maybe I think it’s okay he’s he’s our captain for God’s sake so let’s see let me see

Bit of a sort of bipolar emotion about it um I guess from from the point of view of a supporter just a fan somebody who is just supporting the the team I’m extremely happy that we won we got the three points and the that bad bad streak

Is over I’m really happy about it uh but from sort of looking at it professionally from sort of my coaching pers perspective uh we got so lucky to win this game because that was not supposed to be a win like looking at the way the way the team

Played uh that that hand Ball by MAA it’s it’s a penalty it’s a penalty and it’s almost it’s a it’s a orange card yeah um because that was VAR VAR puts that as a penalty and that that’s that’s a you know that’s a p for sure it’s almost a red card almost

Because I like I literally slow slow moded and it was hand to the ball he deliberately moved his hand in in in the way from what I could see yeah um I mean it’s all it’s always up to uh referees interpretation but with that kind of a

Strike in the Box in the well was almost like a six-yard box yeah literally it’s he played a goalkeeper there for a second that’s guys if that’s not a penalty and like that I was like look looking at it like we got so lucky the um let’s play there once like all his

Hands were by his side but I I saw it the replay I’m like if we had VAR and they in League two they’re giving a penalty for that I don’t give a because that is there’s I mean there’s no way they’re not doing that you’ve seen worse calls you know worse calls so

We got lucky there look again switching my putting my fan hat on uh sometimes L goes goes your way we had unlucky calls against us now there is a uh lucky call against us so it’s that’s just the way foot football goes but I’m again putting

My coaching hat on uh there was no link up play I like I listening to the audio I quite often just turn on the uh if I listen to um commentary if I listen to you talk for example I try not to look at the screen for for a few minutes and

Just trying to listen to what people are saying because it quite often paints a very good picture and if you guys listen to the audio of the game there was not a single one mention of of a good pass yeah no it’s true okay yeah one mention

Of a good pass everything else was the last name of the player and that he does something well so again we’re looking at and seeing a lot of good individual effort which is amazing to see but again from a coaching point of view I don’t see a system developing okay I Y you

Know guys I’m not trying to be NE negative just like I said I have a almost like a bipolar disorder in my and to be honest doing coaching courses and coaching and get studying the game almost killed the fun of the game for me because I can I can never look at the

Game the same way as I used to I’m not just there you know cheering out we scored or we won and yeah I don’t know if you saw the Saturday night game I got I got crushed on on there I got beat up pretty bad by the way Carol HR says Ivan

Welcome back and Ivan and Sheldon combo for Tuesday could be we you know could be we’ll see if I can make that work if they could do it you know we’ll see if we can get something in there will Tash be back on Saturday probably not I don’t

Sharing my opinion and I’m always trying to look at the games objectively um as as objectively as as possible that’s why I have to kind of switch my train of thought from one way to the other way um yeah uh objectively pitch was very difficult yeah okay and uh it was not an

Easy pitch to play on but again old cliche it’s the same for both teams and I think sattan actually managed to link up more plays than we did they you know they were able to pass more than we did on that pitch they were going down that

Left side and picking on picking on Bol and picking on uh was it Ma it was Max right picking on them they they did that all game they had they were getting balls in the Box they really getting number 11 his name I can’t think I don’t

Know someone in the chat I forgot number 11 was baller I think it was on the thumbnail to be honest with you he’s really good yep um unfortunately again from what I’m seeing it’s uh I almost think it’s barky’s incentive and it’s his word to play long balls from D because I see

Bo is doing it and when I was listening to Parky’s interview after um yeah I will get back to New signings um again gonna gonna put my my uh my fan hat on um yeah I I’m looking at his postmatch comments and he actually praised Bo for playing long

Balls and he said he won all the headers and played long balls which is great so obviously that just proves the point that he wants them to play those long balls it’s not just the fact that yeah so yep that’s just the way it it is

That’s what what he wants to do I think the boys are fighting really really hard there is definitely character in this team and there is definitely a lot of effort so I cannot fault anybody they all try really really hard I think it’s just the matter of

Um uh the the coach is not really helping them at this stage apart from being a motivator being a Parky is a he’s an old school um yeah motivator uh psychologist coach kind of a kind of a scenario and just fingers crossed that this year he’s going to carry us us

Through but again at the same time next game is against Nots County we play well against good teams we play well against the teams who like to keep the ball on the ground because we kind of copy them okay yeah and I think that’s what’s gonna happen y yep they don’t try to

Break things up so they we could be playing they’re trying to not negate and mess mess the game up a little bit too Amari Patrick is the guy’s name uh and I believe that they had a higher possession and they did have a higher possession too um and we’ll go back up

To Ivan real quick I’m sorry Carol number 11 it was announcer said he was a Rex and Looney for a few seasons back he’s a good player he’s a really good player I really liked him um Bolton Bolton is hot he’s fast he’s I can understand why his stats from um sford

Were so amazing his useful carry his lateral movement his vertical movement uh he’s got both feet uh he’s got good Vision he knows when to pass he knows when to cross so I think we got a little uh little magic man on our hands there

And he’s gonna be amazing for us I so yeah so basically what I’m seeing right now is Bolton and MAA being Pistons uh I I am to quote uh Chris’s um Chris’s definition here the welshan I really liked his definition he sent it to me in the private chat so Gio

Uh once he’s better because he’s injured now he’s the engine and Bolton and MEC are going to be Pistons so uh but what I what I want to see is us Recycling and cycling bowl from left to right without using Square passes because most of the passes that we’re doing now now nowadays

Are square passes or we’re launching them long vertically Square passes um the way I the reason why we don’t want to play Square passes is because Square passes make you static yeah most of the time slows the game yeah it slows the game down we don’t want that we have it’s not incisive

Either what are we going because you know I think John Terry and who was his partner when he was at when he was at um I think John Terry and Lampard when they play for Chelsea they’d pass like the ball like two 300 times between each

Other in a match like where are you going on there too um the Henry blue good shout yes uh sorry Eric yeah Henry blue uh says Omari Patrick is um was aloney so yes I think that’s what he’s saying there sorry go ahead sorry what was the question about

Unfortunately because I was still a little bit jaded from all the driving and everything else but yeah I uh number 11 did look good uh JM JM is looking Lively is looking good he needs to score ASAP because again just like I was saying before first couple of games for

Striker is crucial he’s not getting any any service he um he has to fight for those he’s we brought him in his style of play is not long balls no he he’s not the one who is going to be getting those long balls I just don’t understand why

It’s happening we getting somebody who can actually run into the free area for a nice through Pass after a good movement up on the flank or through the middle and we are sending him on those runs like we are turning him into another Billy Waters do you have your do

You have your board up I want because like do you have your board behind you at all or no I want to see so I don’t know if I can describe it so uh oconnell and uh Connell and who else was on there uh on the left side there who was on the

Left um I’m just blanking here um oh meca yeah no the guy who was the guy next to him playing Center half I can’t I’m blank so Bo and so they kept they keep playing these balls like into space but like into space on the wings you know to the

Strikers you know and pushing them out wide why are we why are we flipping it’s almost like an outside of the boot pass and it’s not a it’s not a cross pass but you know what I’m saying like we keep playing these lofted balls like up into yeah there you go

There it is we keep playing the lofted balls from the back line into that corner up up to right underneath the black basically what happens what happens here is once once the left or right back they receive the ball they tend to play the same play all the time

They play vertical ver vertical Channel up to here expecting this guy to run and get the ball over there and that’s why you see those balls going off onto uh into the out all the time so what is a striker going to do so let’s say that

Ball what what are they trying to do are they trying to have the overlap for or be bear there but if you’re the striker now you’re turning into a midfielder and you’re so what the reason why that happens is because that’s barky’s way of overcoming pressure I don’t have the uh
