Why I’m SICK of Cycling Close Passes By Cars
It seems like once per week while i’m out cycling I get a close pass which scares the life out of me.
I do most of my training in Dublin, Ireland. What are the close passes like where you’re training?
The roads are getting crazy have you noticed how close some drivers pass here when you’re out cycling these days it can be unreal scary I have a close call myself at the weekend of cycling along minding my own business as you do when a car passed me so closely that I felt the
Wind from the car’s Wing mirror on my cheek it scared the hell out of me and it’s not just me several of my silicone friends they’ve been hit by cars while cycling most of them were due to close passes I was reading the study just yesterday where close passes by drivers
Are now the biggest fear for cyclists on our roads and it’s not just a fear it’s a real legitimate danger close passes are the leading cause of serious accidents for cyclists so why well some drivers may not realize how much space they need to give cyclists what orders
May simply be in a rush or not paying attention but the consequences of either can be severe how do you think we can improve the situation on the roads

What cheek?
Make another road but small road where bikes can ride
The wider the road the closer the pass , yet on a narrow road people seem able to give more room
Ultimately it’s down to government to improve safety for cyclists. It should be made at least 2 metres wide and enforced by the police with fines, points and bans. The chance of that happening is zero though sadly.
Don't give them the space. Found out it's better to be in the middle of my lane so the passing car has to pass in the other lane.
