P welcome to this week’s uh video from Portugal dreams um this week I’ve finished stacking up some of this uh wooden bits and Bobs bit of tidying up and uh Debbie gets some shelves uh Ellie Rose also does a recipe um so we’ll show you that as well so we’ll watch along

And see what we do So yesterday uh while I had the saw out I cut this wood for some shelves uh the reason why we’re using the wood dish thti is one we like the look of it and two it was what we had left from the building um where they put some of the joists

In uh so we thought rather back some new stuff we sand this down get it cleaned up and uh use it for some thick shelves uh should look pretty good but uh we’ll see when we get them in place so at the moment I’m just going to sand all these down

Uh try and bring the grain out a little bit um and also get some of the marks off what are on it don’t mind them being a little bit battered near the edges it makes them look a little bit more rustic but I am going to sort of smooth some of

It a little bit so we’ll get on with That M Just to give you an idea what they’re uh like this is one what I haven’t done uh this is one I’ve started it isn’t finished yet as you can see there’s still a few uh sawx in it I’m going to try and get a lot of those out

Um but yeah it’s coming along it’s going to color up nicely I think time we get some uh vanish or something on uh just to seal it cuz it’s going in the kitchen um yeah I think it look quite good so I’ve just giv Debbie’s uh

Shelves a second coat uh a quick rub down and a little coat of varnish on top uh still got the other side to do a second coat on so we’ll do them another day and then uh we’ll get them up and this small one’s only had one coat at the

Moment um I know it’s bit rough and Rusty but that’s what uh Debbie wants so what we’re going too far down with it uh there is one or two cars gouged out but uh yeah yeah she likes it like that so that’s how we’re doing them morning this morning I’m going to

Put some shelves up on this wall and this wall so they run continuously round um I’ve got some metal brackets and we’re using some of this type roll plug don’t know whether you’ve seen those before they just squash down uh you push them through the wall put

The screw in and it pulls them down and tight um hopefully they’ll be okay in this uh it’s a toolo wall so we’ll see if not if these don’t work then I’ll uh get some chemical uh chemical an and redo them with that I’m sure these will

Be fine so the first thing I’m going to do is obviously get a level uh I’ve got mark on the wall over here it’s just a bit out of camera view roughly where um the line of the level wants to be and then each bracket is going to be

Sorry 37 CM m in from the uh edge of the shelf so I’m going to mark that on the wall in two places put the brackets on and then put the shelves on and screw them on doing it that way cuz the shelves are quite heavy to hold and then

Drill later so we’ll end up with the brackets up like that and then as I say I’ll put the shelf on screw it on and then we’ve got another shelf going down somewhere here uh just have to make sure that the yeah it’s clear of everything so that’ll be

Okay so so I’ve got my laser line on that on the line where I want to go I’m just going to Mark in 15 from the sorry 37 CM I don’t know why I’ve got 15 on the brain at the Moment and that will give me me ma for drilling well Mac for the top of the um bracket so that m to the center line of my top bracket and I have run the laser level down to get the center line of the bottom bracket um I haven’t run the laser level

Across as yet but uh I did it with the spirit level just to get an idea where I was going to Mark uh so I’m going to move the laser level down now Mark the that and the bracket at that end and then I’ll have to find out the

Centers of this bracket across here to go to me Cent try and fow me two holes so I’ve got all my levels with me laser line and I’ve marked me holes as you can see and down here on the line so when that’s lined up all my holes

Should be in line so I can drill all those now for the top shelf and then we’ll do the same for the bottom shelf so that’s one set of brackets up on the Shelf just On Loosely I’ve just put a screw in the front just to hold it down

So I get a line for doing this one and I fitted these two brackets so just put that up there and it should with a bit of look all made up it’s funny cuz it did H I think it was the other way around yeah I do as well yeah that’s

It yep so yeah and what I’ll do is or what I’ve done is I’ve just left a gap at the back just as like a an air gap um just to make sure it’s got a little bit of circulation around it have sanded the front of this down a bit as well which

I’ll just rig over and varnish it had a few runs in it just here uh so yeah we’ll just clean that up a bit we’ll get this screwed up and then we’ll do the lower ones so that’s just both the top shelves up I’m going to have lunch and then I’ll

Do the bottom ones so that’s that one up and level so we just got that little one in the corner to do so that’s both shelves up I’m sure dead will be quite okay with them the uh front up here to just ranish a little bit where I rub down a couple

Of runs so take care of them and then we’re all ready for WT So this afternoon I’ve started moving this uh pile of wood uh getting the smaller Square bits out first I’m also moving some of the other pile at the other side of the wall and stacking it all together so that don’t look like I’ve got a lot done I have

Quite a stack on a pallet there um just slowly building it up Ear trying to get some of the smaller sticks out the dryer bits and then put the water bits on the top later to dry out of it uh yeah we’re making a bit of Headway so this is the

Wood pile I’m getting some out of uh this Lots quite wet where that under the uh shelter near ell roses is has been drying out a bit so uh I’m stuck in the dryer stuff first and then we’ll see whether we’re going to make another pallet full of the damper

Stuff or uh yeah that’s probably a better idea um yeah we’ll make another pette full of the damper stuff uh I’ve got another palette and fit in that that corner when I get it cleared out a bit um but this I’m just piling up crisscross so it’s

Got a bit of air flow through it uh it’s going to get tap over when I’ve finished and then uh in Du course we’ll get it chopped uh for firewood so that’s the size I can go with that uh pallet so I’m going to start another

One um I’m going to put it here next to it at this uh the left when you look from the land uh cuz I haven’t got the corner cleared out uh there’s more Rubble under there and things than what I thought so yeah got quite a lot of this pile

Moved um and all the top of this it’s all strips of a barrel but there is’t enough to make a barrel up if you know what I mean uh so it’s obviously rotted at some point uh uh yeah so we UND do a little bit more I’ll go and bring

Another pet down so uh yeah I’ve started on another pette but uh I didn’t get very far to be honest it’s uh getting a bit late now so and I’ve had enough to be honest moving wood for 5 hours is getting a bit boring uh which is one

Reason why I don’t film it all um yeah so I’ve got most of that pile down and there’s very little of the pile what was R roses uh we’ll get that cleared up tomorrow uh along with a bit more of this and uh yeah it should start looking

A bit tidier again hopefully we’ll get the uh buttons there cut as well and maybe some other blocks at the back so that’s uh most of my wood from down here stacked uh as you can see these sort of gaps in between it’s a bit

Of a jenger pile but uh uh as long as I can get it covered when it uh if it rins or anything like that uh we do have a tap to do that so yeah it shouldn’t be too much of a problem but at the moment

I’m going to leave it as open for as long as possible let it get some sun at it and dry out uh I’ve still got a few bits under here to move but they’re tucked under these logs at the moment and uh I’m not going to move them yet I’m probably

Going to cut them where they are and then move them in sections uh the blocks at the end I’m going to move so that they’re drying out and then down here where you can see OD bits and Bob’s kicking about I’m going to rake over and have another

Fire uh this bits s kicking about all over but uh yeah we’ll get that sorted and then we’ll as I said we’ll have another fire and get rid of that most of the joy end at the back are all dry now so I’m going to put them in

The Woodshed I AR going to stack them too carefully cuz you stack them flat any moisture in them just sticks in them so leave them with some air gaps and probably just throw them in so that they’re igy piggledy and then this little bits of wood at the bottom I’m

Going to cut the smallest ones up for firewood the bigger ones if they dry out okay I’m just going to chop the ends off where the rough and uh maybe use them to make a trellis or something like that uh we’ll see how we go with that

And as you can see this morning I’ve also had me Little Helper out he’s now having a look and seeing what the tricking are doing um it does Chas some if they’re rout so just got to be a little bit careful which is why he’s on a a long

Lead but it’s a retractable one so he can wander about quite happily so that’s all the uh wood from ell Rosies has gone uh from the uh tree bits at the back which I need to chain are rather than table to uh and that’s some of what I’ve stacked up

Uh all little bits around the side here and the P at the back so what I’ve got this afternoon so it’s my turn this week to try a new recipe and I’ve decided to try and make a merang in the air fryer apparently you can do it so

I’m going to give it a go first step is to separate out four egg whites and I am terrible at this process okay that was successful that’s two yks and onto three and that’s 40 Ys so that’s the white of the four eggs I’m just going to take that now to the

Mis chef and I need to beat that until it is white and fluffy which is a very good job we have a sand mixer so while that was going on I also weighed out 215 G of plain white castor sugar that needs adding to the mixture

Uh one tablespoon at a time and I’ll just show you how the egg whites are so this is how the egg whites have gone so far so it’s now just keep it continually whisking and keep on adding 1 tblspoon of sugar at a time until it’s all in so

Most recipes call for cream of TARTA in this there is an alternative if you don’t have that I think which comes in the state of corn flour and white vinegar apparently a teaspoon of each so I’m going to pop that in whisk it until it’s just

Combined and then that is ready to go in the air fryer so that is the merang mix all done it’s just a case now of plopping it on this spare sheet of Grease print paper and then popping that into the air fryer for 30 minutes at 120°

C all being well it will turn out good if if not we’ll still eaten so the air fry has already been pred this will just now go in as is and that I’ll stay in for half an hour so that actually took about 35 minutes

On um 120° C so that now gets left for 20 minutes just as is in the tray to start its cooling process after that it gets taken out and left to fully cool more or less uh so I will check back in on it in 20

Minutes so this is the merang just out of the air fryer it we’re a little bit impatient we have taken it out a bit sooner um but just to help it cool off a bit faster so we’ll now leave it out here just for a little bit while it cools off a bit

More so it’s nice and crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside so we’re just going to add a little bit of ice cream to that yeah scoop of ice cream a nice piece of Orange same with yours my baby that is very nice Del Rose I think we’ll be having it again tomorrow so I’m just getting some food for the ends and the goats um it’s just about bedtime for them I know it’s still quite late but uh B time we’ve had our

Meal it’s uh getting dark so we’ll just get them sorted out before we have ours and we can sit down and uh relax so some good food and some hen food they’ve got a mix of layers and some corn for the h and I’m just going

To get some here for the goats as well they’re out on grass so they don’t get too much a at the moment um the other phones makes it easier to get them in um medal’s a bit of a bother so just makes it easier just let the ends out for a bit

Forever a Wonder while the uh while I get the goat sorted do you have a b Le for the goats but an he gets hers inside and mayel gets hers outside um just makes it easier to undo them both when I get them up here cuz I

Need will go in and just stay in there mbel wants to be in and push every body out the way so if I feed her outside it just lets me undo her easier the H just got a mix as I say cor and the layers and they are laying and they have

Been continuously laying so we tend to get three eggs a day which is quite good of three ends and we have done nearly all the way through winter just put them in there to take in Later and now I’ll go and get Mabel and Annie so I get Annie first um she’ll walk up go in a pen let me undo her and then she’ll go right in um mayel if I take air up at the same time tries to push Annie out the way and

Steal all the food and won’t let let me under where she pulls all the time so I put the food outside for Mel and well you’ll see as you see an’s not too bad will walk up most of the way most food there so come on come on

Then it’s not s in I just make sure she’s shut in these days cuz she uh decided the other day she was going to try and climb on the roof so we’ll go get Mel Mel likes to try and uh be boss and go where she wants to go but uh obviously

That got happen this way around hey hey maybe it does we have been trying to teach her to walk on here but no success not when this food about okay it instead of pulling now it just makes it nice and easy to uh undo without any bother you’ve got your run in there

Iy going get your own come be this what about Nables no let’s get your look in there Annie’s decided she’s finishing Maes off Mabel’s decided I’m having the air so she’s at the back here I’ll say you girl so now we’ll try and get the ends in sometimes they’re okay no come

Here sometimes they uh just mess about and run off so makes pretty good uh I don’t know which two of these are that is Yoko and this one is Henrietta they’re going and get some food to shut the G while I get the other one which means [Applause]

Dora seem to find if you put your hand above them they just uh sit they squat yeah the squat which makes them easy to pick up uh Henrietta sometimes decides no I’m not having that and runs well she was good tonight yeah go on back in and get

Co so for this week uh thanks for watching uh please like subscribe and don’t forget the uh links to Instagram and Facebook below and we’ll see you all next week I hope bye

    1. Your shelves are beautiful always useful ,mostly from recycling wood … I see you have plenty of wood to re-use !!! Happily, after the effort ,a nice tea with meringue…

    2. The shelves look very nice, Elle Rose I never knew you could cook meringue in air fryer I must try it sometime. Enjoyed the cooking video. The goats & chickens are so cute, loved watching them. Steve you did a great job on shelves & got a lot of work done stacking all that wood. Looking forward to next week’s video & wishing all of you a great week.

    3. Steve! mounting self-built shelves with repurposed wood excess with awesome levelling gizmo and excellent hardware bits & bobs. V handsome shelving!

      Aww, Mabel.

Wow, Steve, awesome job organizing that tangled pile of wood! The jenga pile looks good! What a relief it must be to have the front of ER's house tidied up.

Do you folks watch Nearby Veggies? Their house rebuild had just started, well, demo really. And they're quite the assembly line with sorting, stacking, storing, and burnburnburning their many days of huge piles of wood.

What a beautimuss air fryer merangue!! 😋🤤😋 If you had a bit of unfrosted chocolate cake on your plate, you'd have a deconstructed Baked Alaska 🗻! Oo, i gotta gove that a tryie try 😊.

Nice to see how you round up your animals to tuck them in safely. (Did you see a couple of videos back how 4 just newborn piglets were taken by fox or mongoose from Cindy Vine's? Poor tiny ones 😔.)

Thanks for sharing a slice of your life.

Btw, surprise flooding aside, have you had an enjoyable winter this time around? It seems you have 🤞🏼😊, and i'm happy for you.

    4. Hi family 😊

Always nice to see what you are doing on the farm and house.
That includes the goats and chickens too.🤣

      Merengue looks delicious.

Wishing you a great week ahead. ☀️

      🌷Sam
