Welcome to the Golfie in Innerleithen, home of the UK’s best MTB trails. Innerleithen recently hosted the final round of the 2021 EWS season. That goes to show just how well-respected these trails are within the UK mountain biking scene!

In this video I rode with with two super fast ladies. Polly was coming off the back of a win in the under 21s EWS at the Tweed Valley round. Ros won the masters in the EWS 100 during that same event.

In this video there we rode some really good trails at the Golfie. Right Side Clyde, Hangover, Greg Joliffe’s and Final Fling. The riding was amazing but unfortunately the conditions on the trails were about as bad as they can get!

If you are new to my videos then expect to see high quality riding vlogs shot in the same style as McTrail Rider, Paul the Punter and BKXC. I try to travel to the best MTB locations in Scotland finding you the best mountain biking trails.

Closer to the Not house all right uh hello and welcome back to the channel um it’s really good to be back and feel like i’ve not made a video in ages although we’ve been putting content out and it’s actually been like a couple of months since um she filmed something and really it’s just because

Um yeah work’s been super busy my real job i should say and uh yeah it’s just been struggling to find the motivation to get out and but yeah i’m super psyched today because um yeah we are getting out um meeting um two folks and meeting roz um who you uh

You know you’ve seen her on the channel before and also paulie henderson uh and if you don’t know paulie henderson um well she was just made some pretty cool ews news because at the tweed valley around the ews and she came first in the under 21s which is like a pretty crazy

Achievement rose also raced really well that weekend i think she won the masters and the ews 100 so yeah out with the fast folks going to get absolutely schooled no doubt but who cares it’s just gonna be fun and i hope that i can learn a few

Things um yeah just wanted as well just before we start off the ride a few little changes on the bike i thought i would like keep you up to date with and for all the sort of bike geeks out there as you guys know been running the rockshox zeb um ultimate up front

Feel like kind of um pretty much got there with a setup and got kind of a new little um mud hugger bull on uh guard fitted really really really cool just like a little bracket adapter that fits that on that’s working really well but yeah overall been playing with the setup um

Just about there and today i’m actually experimenting with just running slightly higher pressure and playing with the volume token so this would be interesting to see if i finally just got like the sweet spot of that setup other thing that i’m running and i’m fitted

And i don’t know if you guys have seen it yet is the new super deluxe ultimate um rear shock um fitted that the bike a few weeks ago and man that has been like exceptional really notice it in the way that the bike’s able to um soak up the bumps

Again just about got that dialed i’m gonna be playing with um air pressures a little bit today and overall basically i’m just running the bike and just a bit harder a bit bit sort of stiffer but a bit less progressive trying to keep the bike sitting way up

Into that lake so i get better use looking on mid-stroke so yeah we’ll see how it goes so unless me talking let’s uh let’s get onto the trails it’s beautiful it matches your lack of fluffy talk you’re so mean you’re a camera all right we’re going for a warm-up

Um you can watch a paulie disappear into the distance folks i’ll just try and stay on the bike oh my god really slexbox oh my god oh already foot off center trail called right side oh scary in these conditions because so many roots and just kind of always track it in an instant

Oh man scared since i wasn’t looking fine enough ahead come on jamie whoa getting used to the forks doing a lot different more air uh less sag so front sitting up higher but she’s good she’s not quite used wow trying to look ahead wow see the speed of poly man that’s so cool

Like literally like just so much quicker not even slightly near her place but it’s cool to see just a young gun flying gotta say liking the new fork set up oh man it’s just fun isn’t it super fun yeah polly i saw you for approximately

Five seconds i’d say i love the way you guys just hold speed in the corners like the diff that’s the difference is incredible Right trail’s called hangover i’ve never ridden this tree actually it meant pretty good it’s so wet it was not meant to be this wet today didn’t bring a rain jacket which is pretty stupid in scotland october i’m going to ride a bit and i think we’re doing because we’ve

Got polly here it’s actually like spending a bit of time he’s going session some corners that makes sense if you’ve got someone who’s talented uh you can maybe take a few tips off them and to see how they do it so yeah we’ll get down all right probably you’re just

Gonna stop somewhere where there’s some corners right oh wrong here pepping away like a maniac wow this is the first time in the trail it’s pretty gnarly drill bugs i think this might have been used for racing actually oh god wow [Laughter] all right sorry about the audio i’m running the

The hero 9 just now so the audio will be a bit rubbish but um yeah she’s going to see like polly do these and hopefully she can give us a few tips for doing this Whew I hate starting off on the trail so difficult oh wow oh man so these corners are so steep no traction today oh my god oh geez oh man oh oh holy moly that was uh that was pretty uh close to bad one lost the front do you silly boy silly boy right

Let’s set let’s get let’s get going struggling on this trail that’s a rock my confidence a bit as well just not nice when you lose the front yeah oh got a bit intimate with the tree Actually just pushed up greg joel if this was one of the uh ews stages kind of tail it is oh man Yeah it’s a bit of a mess all right rose’s gonna try and keep up paulie i’ll try and keep up with raws and we’ll see if we can get footage it’s still wet though i don’t think the lens will survive oh wow ah oh my god this is totally cheering folks oh

Well obviously it’s had a race down it but it is absolutely goose oh my god oh no this is not the craig jollibs i know and love yes and normally at this point a year i’ve gone for the shorty up front still got a dhf on which i like but

Kind of been found out in these conditions a little just muds too thick so i think when we get home i’m sure it won’t be going on thank you this is right i need to concentrate really nervous about putting that front brake on there yeah i’m not doing that highlight no way

You can see all those roots like totally wiped clean ready to get you down oh my god yo you’re getting towards the end of the trail oh oh probably on the inside line is there last one wow a little disastrous whoa that’s gnarly oh cranky oh it’s a wet yapping friday Ah nice right well uh yeah the balance is restored that’s so cool today yeah get out again and then oh man just get back out on the bike after a kind of crazy week at work i’m cool to be making like a vlog again difficult conditions i don’t know like

Um how much uh footage we’ll actually get but yeah just heading for a coffee now just gonna chill out get set for a weekend definitely gonna go back home and um yeah work on getting those um tires changed i think go to like a shorty up front and uh i’ve got a

Dhr but i’ll actually put a new dhr on it’s got a bit more tread so yeah hope you enjoyed that one i hope you’re all well um and yeah we will see you again see you again pretty soon i hope see ya You

    1. Brave guy taking on Hangover in those conditions 🤣 Last time I fell in exactly the same spot! I'll probably leave it alone until spring time now 🤪 The girls were rapid 💨

    2. A warm up on Right Side Clyde…
I had a stupid otb at the top a few weeks back and rode the rest of the trail like an uncoordinated baby elephant. It’s a nasty wee bugger!
Another fine vid Mr Pigeon, certainly an intro for the autumn/winter slop that lies ahead!

    3. Great vid with 2 very fast ladies. I must admit I do like winter conditions for riding in, love a bit of slop!! Dry is obviously better but winter conditions are great for learning.

    4. Top video mate, always good to watch and learn from faster riders. I love the way trails / lines change with different weather conditions, keeps you on your toes 🤘

    5. Nice one on the suspension set up. Aye dare say its time for a mud tyre on those trails! Have to say its great featuring lassies in your videos as there are some amazing women riders out there most of them are better than me. If I ever get to a quarter of the talent and bravery of your co-riders here I'd be pretty bl00dy happy.

    6. Great video Jamie, I’m heading up to inners again in a couple of weeks and I’m assuming it’s going to be wet😂
Would you recommend the Golfie or is there any other spots that’s might be better for a wet ride (GT or Cademuir maybe). I’m guessing after the last couple of months Golfie has had a lot of hammer.
      Cheers
      Stu
