Over 40 tbet palm trees have been cut down in to key now strictly speaking these aren’t actually palm trees but they are Celine or stalis also known as The torbet Palms and it is mainly The torb Palms as well as a few true palm trees have been cut down in the seaside

Resort of T in the UK these magnificent specimens many of which are around 100 years old have been cut down by the local Council torbet palms and we’re going to call them palm trees for the rest of this video even though they’re not truly palm trees are Coline aralis

Many of which have these nice multicolored leaves are beautiful as garden plants but when they’re grown in the ideal locations like in tury where it’s nice and Mild all year round over many many decades they can grow into huge plants towering trees with many heads of spiky foliage and flowers as

Well that smell like vanilla the palm trees many of which were planted back as far as 1924 were planted in the public gardens along the sea front and basically the town’s pride and joy welcoming visitors throughout the years to the seaside Resorts dozens of these trees would shop

Down without warning according to report in the Telegraph newspaper and the felling of the palm trees has prompted widespread Ang in the town with residents left dismay after pictures showed 40 of the trees chopped down to their stumps to council have said they were part of a Rejuvenation of the area

And that many of the trees had significant degradation notice over the last 20 years it was need it was needed to remove them but it’s very Stark to see all these palm trees cut down and people have been shocked by the sight of this one talkie native s many happy

Childhood Days on the beach and on the green to see the palm trees have been chopped down saddens me as this is what talk was all about it was famous for its palms and visitors always enjoyed walking through the lovely Gardens with the Palms above them it’s going to look

Pretty bare now another Resident said absolutely beyond words for the total Destruction how can they justify doing this a similar thing happened last year actually in Plymouth where 100 10 trees were removed and you may remember from my look at palm trees Canary Island date palm video around the

Country one of the biggest iconic palm trees in lambur in London is set to be removed as well to make way for some traffic lights but back to T and these trees like I said are very iconic beautiful palm trees any Boo’s been to the to Devon and down to tury we have

    1. I went to Torquay when I was seven and was amazed with the "palm" trees and vowed to have palm trees in my garden.
The trees in you videos looked magnificent and it is a shame to see what has happened to them.

    2. Unbelievable! Wonder what their plan is for the stumps as they will likely grow again from those if not removed. Seems drastic. I’m sure a bit of tidy up would have been a better option.

    3. We should all money together to replace them properly!! I’d donate and I’m in Ireland 🙌 Guaranteed the council went with.. let’s ask forgiveness over permission from the locals! In a time when people could do with a little certainty in everyday life..just brutal!! Brutal

    4. Not long lived trees over here unfortunetly iv seen them get rot leaving them unsafe in public places . At the age they are they are coming to the end unfortunetly . Council cant really win if leave them and blow down crushing someone they are at fault and obviously no one wants to see them gone . 60 to 80 years is usually a normal life span for cordylines so they are very old trees .

    5. from all of the comments in your video, all the residents as well as the holiday makers are in shock, given public notice this would have caused outrage! unless plans are in place to replace them. lets see the health reports on them then, dont forget , the whole cornish county has been sold over the years on the cornish riviera , with photo's and railway posters depicting the palms in them as you say for over a hundred years they owe a lot to the county its not going to be the same without them, also its a shame the cipd on the lambeth bridge roundabout is going to be another victim , like the video you put up re palms all over the country many of the london ones were on or near council property or housing developments and have been removed also just sad!

    6. Some ones in Cornwall declined around that age or even earlier. I can get that they might have been in decline or soon to be in decline due to their age. But… surely they knew they were getting old for decades. 80 years is extremely old! They could have started planting replacements…😮. Not that they take too long to grow, but now it will look bare for quite a few years.

    7. I think they could have have planted new trees years before chopping these trees down but I guess this way there is no maintenance at the end of the day it’s all about money

    8. Things like these should be illegal. At a certain age it should also be a decision of the inhabitants if old plants could be cut down. At least they should explain and inform the people beforehand and if it's really necessary then OK… but imagining living there for decades over generations and see all of those gorgeous Cordylines being chopped down is disrespectful to the people. We currently don't need any more distrust in politicians and authorities. Dumb way of handeling this imo…

    9. Only been once but really shocked by this, as they truly were a beautiful sight and it seems the very people who are constantly at us to be environmentally friendly, completely ignore the publics feelings at their meetings, so please have a meeting where you agree that we must get public approval for our plans

    10. Who'd have thought, a council that decimates trees, without considering the views of the environment or the people it supposedly represents.
This was done without public consultation. Shame on Torbay Council!

    11. Yes the council doing the opposite of what the common ppl want. It's like the destruction of real art, replaced with modern garbage, anything to bring down the spirit of mankind and demoralise them. Does the council take examples from the communist manifesto, destroy beauty and replace with abstract, to demoralise, of course it does, because if you see real beauty, you might search for spirituality, you might search forn God,and that would be ananthema for the controllers. They don't want the herd getting above themselves band entertaining the thought they were created in God's image, destroy the trees, destroy any beauty that may stop you being demoralised into the belief that there is a God and the beauty of nature proves it. Keep them all synthetic and dependent on the globalist profiteers.

    12. Probably wanted to get rid of them because they were iconic and now they can get rid of the rest of the gardens and build some hotels or houses or maybe even an immigration detention centre !

    13. They say some of the trees showed signs of degradation; do you think the idea is that they could have been dangerous i.e. falling branches, or just starting to look a bit tatty? It's a bit of an own goal by the council in my opinion, if they really had to go then it would have been better, as other commenters have suggested, to have planted some replacements several years back. A bit like RAACs, there was no plan to replace the defunct material! 🙂 I've never been to Torquay but it's famous for its palms, I remember being rather taken aback when my school friend told me about them after he'd been on holiday there.

    14. It’s sad
      Even with an apology

They wanted something they didn’t need to plant yearly
But decided to take out the trees which , of course , they did not need to replace yearly.

      The council has apologise

Maybe we need to take them to court and make a law saying that any tree cutting needs to be publicised in local news paper for 6 months before felling
As well as clear signs posted on each tree saying it will be cut in 6 months and stating the felling date😮😢

    15. An absolute disgrace. These councils do things like this to suit their own agendas. They know that if they do publicise them in advance there will be a huge backlash. So instead, they just go ahead, knowing that they can't be undone and there won't be any real repercussions. Heads need to roll for this.

    16. I hope their "regeneration" plans are better than the Rock Walk. Millions spent and it still looks like scrubland 10+ years later. What idiots are making these decisions.

    17. Same council that planted 3 large Phoenix Dactylifera palms on the sea front which were doomed to die even in Torquay, lot of other proven palms could have been planted there but not their money wasted to worry about 😔

    18. As usual, this is government being deaf to their electorate. What with the Gunnera decision it seems little consultation was done with those with knowledge or understanding. I will be amused if they are left fighting the suckers for years to come 😂
