Hi. I’m “Gio Palermo”, also known as “legorocks99” (“legorocks99Gaming”, “LR99Gaming”, or “LR99”). I post video game commentaries on YouTube revolving around “hockey”, with a primary focus on “Vancouver Canucks”, “Montreal Canadiens”, “Detroit Red Wings”, and top “NHL prospects” topics. These videos are uploaded with “NHL 24” gameplay in the background. I enjoy making these videos and I hope that you enjoy watching them!
legorocks99 and all its denominations function under “Gio Palermo Media Inc.”
So I’m not going to lie I don’t really have an outline in my mind as to where we’re going to go with this commentary but today what I wanted to do was respond to an idea that was brought up on the jic show in Quebec talking about
The Montreal Canadians and the idea of a homerun trade now the article that we’re pulling this conversation from on TVA Sports and I’ll leave a link in the description if you want to go ahead and listen to the video clip and read the article yourself Canadians when is the
Big deal quote unquote this article from yesterday at 700 p.m. and the opening paragraph of the piece reads this of course it’s translated from French into English the munra Canadians recently traded forward Shawn Monahan to the Winnipeg Jets to fatten their Bank of draft picks now though it’s probably
Time for Team GM Kent Hughes to try and hit H the home run at least that’s the opinion of xhab player Maxim laier now if you’ve been following this channel for a few years you probably know that I’m a pretty big personal fan of Maxim laier the guy was an absolute
Stud for the Vancouver Canucks such an agitator tough guy to play against he scored a really clutch goal in game five of the Stanley Cup finals to lead Vancouver to a one- nothing shutout win with Roberto Lang wongo beating out Tim Thomas and putting the Canucks up 3-2 in
The series of course we all remember that game six and game seven didn’t happen the finals were canceled after that game five they only played five games unfortunately am I covering up my traumatizing memories no I’m not but Maxim laier has been a pretty notable
Name in my viewing as a hockey fan over the years and of course everybody remembers that he was a Canadian before this so seeing him make appearances on the jic show on different radio broadcasts etc etc he makes the rounds and he’s a pretty well-known person in
The area so what is it that he says about the Mona Canadians lately post sha Monahan trade well the article goes out there and says this when I think about it properly Monahan is leaving but that doesn’t mean he won’t come back laier first analyzed Monday during the jic
Show I think it’s difficult to get a player back on July 1st when he’s a free agent on the other hand it helps us that he’s in Winnipeg in my opinion that being said I think the option the Canadians have with that first round pick we have two this year two next year
And that gives Kent Hughes a lot of tools and with all this ammunition Hughes is well placed to make the big move now pause if you go over to the Canadians and their cap friendly page let’s go out there and read just which draft picks it is that they have and
Where they got a lot of these picks so of course the Canadians have their own picks in the first round for 2024 and 2025 the Winnipeg Jets first round pick for this year is of course from the Sha Monahan trade and the Calgary Flames first run pick from next year is
Surprise surprise from the Shawn Monahan trade so this dude literally netted the Habs two first run picks one for getting in the first place and one for trading him away fantastic piece of business there Kent Hughes but Maxim La Pier’s argument is hey the Habs have four first
Round picks over the next two years and a boatload of seconds and thirds as well why not go out there and use some of this capital and make the big trade let’s continue with the piece I think Monahan would have helped young players like lowski or Coffield on a rebuilding
Team there we’re able to make a big transaction or at least I hope so with the first run picks we have and get a dock or a new hook another player like that to help forwards I think we need to go further than that though doc new hook
They’re very good players but the Canadians are due for a big transaction which will be a first run pick a good young guy on defense a few veterans a few contracts whatever to get the big star player that we need we are there we draft well we continue to build we
Haven’t deviated from the plan that’s very good the article then brings up the idea as to whether or not Trevor zis of the Anaheim Ducks could be that guy now if you’ve been following the news cycle around lately you would have seen that there have been more comments and pieces
Of analysis done by NHL insiders talking about zis and his future in Anaheim it wasn’t looking all too great earlier in the year it’s not looking any better now especially since rumors have come out that when he was going through that contract extension process earlier in
The summer there was actually a lot of nastiness thrown around to get him to that $5.75 million aav salary till the end of 2026 in the first place zis right now if you’re wondering is still injured he hasn’t played a game in a while he’s at seven points in 20 games played his
Overall production pace is about 18 points in the span of 52 games a pretty big decline from the 60-point caliber guy that he was last year and the year before that this is what laier goes out there and discusses in regards to zis he has extraordinary Talent he has
Extraordinary hands a shot creativity he has the attitude of a confident guy and that’s correct on the other hand though we have to look at this is he a player with whom we can win a Stanley Cup I know the fans want to have him and it’s
Been a long time since we’ve had a power play guy but can you win a Stanley Cup with Trevor zis playing 20 to 22 minutes a night I doubt it maybe I’m wrong but I don’t see Trevor zis as the player profile that I want the Canadians to
Look for I want us to go find a playoff player a brad marshan a Patrice berson now the unfortunate part is lapier doesn’t go out there and label whom exactly it is that he feels fits that mold of a brad marshan Patrice berson kind of guy but it’s an
Interesting idea that’s actually been constant over the past few weeks here if you just go on Google and you type in Maxim laier Trevor egis with quotes around him you’ll find a bunch of articles and a bunch of quotes from laier over different shows on the radio
Etc where he’s just going out there and saying that he just straight up does not like Trevor zis style of play for the Montreal Canadians there was another comment that he made I think it was like two weeks ago where he was like yeah I don’t really want zis I don’t care about
The amount of points he gets even if he gets like 60 70 points a year I don’t want him he can’t win with a player like that etc etc he’s been very outspoken about his General dislike for the idea of Trevor Zas heading over to Montreal
And the funny part is this isn’t even the only time we’ve discussed this kind of an idea either we did make a video a few weeks ago talking about the zous and Detroit rumors and how that was an entire stylistic fit that I didn’t see either like Steve Eiserman going out
There valuing what it is that he values he of course was part of a management team that included Pat forek who is now the current Anaheim Ducks guy so if for Beak was kind of having some trouble with zaras in terms of the style and the personalities and the money negotiations
Etc then who’s to say that Steve Eisman would not have any similar ideas right like there just doesn’t seem to be a fit there and for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadians while it is true that many fans are trying to you know see if
There’s a fit here see if there is some sort of a desire for zagas to play in a big money market like Montreal get reunited with his buddy Cole Coffield and have that entire story go along we have some that are going out there and
Saying no I don’t want to do that that is not the kind of player that would improve the Habs this isn’t the guy the Canadians should spend their first round picks on because they’ve got a bunch of them now is it time to go out there and
Buy young players that can help in both the short and long term so I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below how do you feel about this entire idea of the Canadians needing to go after a home run trade and do you
Think that Max simap here has a point do you think Trevor zis is the guy to get that done again the unfortunate part about his comments on jic is that he didn’t label out who we would rather see the Canadian go out there and get if not
Trevor zis he says a Marian berson type you know leadership kind of guy a player that motivates the team that steps up in big situations can play in all situations and in berson’s case is one of the best two-way players of all time zarus isn’t really known for that he’s
Known for his flash he’s known for his flare he’s known for everything he does in the offensive zone and then some even when he’s not looking when he has the blindfolds on and he’s spinning around going and having the puck on his stick and everything like he’s a crazy crazy
Talented hockey player but you can tell there’s a certain type of attitude here that Maxim laier does not see a fit for the Canadians do you think that is an appropriate response do you disagree or do you just simply agree let me know your thoughts in the comments section
Below about this entire Trevor Zas to Montreal idea and whether or not you think the Canadians should make that trade do you think it’s more valuable to instead hold on to the draft picks take four first round guys over the next two years maybe double up on what could be
Top tier talent in the future or would you rather send those away for guys that can help out now Allah Kirby do Alex new hook guys in that range let me know your thoughts in the comments section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and Bye

Canadien need a reel 1 goaltender like Saros and after if we can trade for zegras and only 2 year after that we are compétitif
CANADIENS = HAHAHAHA YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO GET ZEGRAS!
god literally no one please talk about zegras unless you actually know what you’re talking about and do your research💀
I think Hughes will start looking after the conclusion of the season or maybe at the draft. Cheers
Game-breakers are ALWAYS needed to win a Cup. Zegras is a game-breaker!
Kent Hughes is going to mess up the draft again ! We need a better GM.
Canadians could not pay Monahan because of tight salary cap now how can they afford a Zegras?
First comment ever – /// No! Relax we still have a lot of time – let the youngsters play ~ let them get more chemistry and experience we will start looking for a star next year }}} don't get me wrong we will probably do more exchanges to tune the team up but a big move next year when our team is really shaping up Oh and Sidney said that the Canadiens are really building correctly and he would love to finish is career here my felling is – if not next year in two years for sure when we are battling in the playoffs we might get a surprise yes we will get a star but also Sid in two years and that will be the cherry on the sundae ((mark my words and remember this comment)) ANYWAY I'm not nervous i like what I see I'm enjoying the games win or lose because I really have a good feeling about what is happening with Kent Hughes ~ Good things happen with people that calculate and are patient OK this year let's enjoy the Canadiens win or lose it's a beautiful build up like a old classic car >>>we are getting ready for our time to shine in two years now for the next two years while we enjoy the Montreal Canadiens rebuild let's take for our other canadian team and hope they win and bring the cup in Canada were it belongs////// you are going to love me for this GO CANUCKS GO BABY!!!!!!!
The Canadiens need to add character players. They have 24 picks over the next 2 years. That is how you build a winner. They already had a showboat in Subban who was a dressing room cancer. They really don’t need another.
NJ should attempt to get him. Meier needs a change of scenery. Great player, but very underwhelming in the first year of his contract. Perhaps he’s the start, plus a 1st and a prospect or two not named Mercer, Holtz, Nemec or Hughes. Perhaps Nolan Foote and Chase Stillman?
Depends on price ! What I would do is my 1 + Harris + barron for celabrini!!
Montreal doesn’t need a guy who only cares about michigans
The ROOM is set and Zegras will not change that. It's ludicrous to say he will change the mentality of coaching and management cause that means an attitude is stronger than team concepts then the flaw is HABS. Zegres will mold into the system and be a proud hab and fine addition to the Canadiens. If he isn't we are weak! Fear makes us weak…..
I disagree with Lapierre that now is the time to swing for the home run with the picks, but I do agree with Lapierre that when we do swing we want to swing for a playoff performer.
He'd fit right in with their other "stars"
As a fellow Nucks' fan first and foremost Habs have always been my #2. That's number not hashtag. Going back to 78 79 seeing them go against the leafs at the Forum for in the playoffs 2 games. Get after it!!
Zegras and Canfield have that world junior Chemistry. That would be awesome.
i dont want zegras either , it would be good for the show but that's it … Give 12M to Petersson hehe
This LaPierre guy is a dumkoff. The way he looks at players, the Habs would have never had Guy Lafleur…a medium sized kid with speed and great hands and high hockey IQ..sounds like Zegras qualities a bit, no?…cup winning qualities!
All negatives come from Zegras' negotiating with Anaheim and they have some egos stretched beyond reality. Habs walked thru Suzuki and Coles at $3M higher so where is any higher problems, I forsee no problems. GHG! @alex-dj9bx
This is dumb.
If the Zegris trade falls thru, HABShave 2 first round picks and more from a possibile trade for Savard and Matheson so if Zegris trade fall thru, WE have 4 First Roounders to trade for Cellebrini who has no $5.75 M price tag on a contract. I would prefer Cellebrini choice because we know a longer stay is possible. Plus these people are not the best to deal with and have shown absolute disrespect for Zegris!!
Aaron Rome is the bum who lost you that series
Hear me out guys Elias Petterson for 2 1round and jake evans
