Here is the lighter pack link that shows all of the gear I took with all of the weights.
    https://lighterpack.com/r/5do1me

This is the uh equipment I took around Spain uh in the saddle pack I had um jackets and all the Sleeping stuff and the tent in the frame pack I had all my tools um and my Spork and in the top tube bag I had um some Electronics like

A a a back battery a battery pack and I’d keep food in there so I’ll start with the um saddle pack it’s apidura um it’s the 14 L one uh I did actually get um a little tiny hole when I was cycling around France but it’s uh rip stop

Technology and um it’s doesn’t tear any further than the initial hole and that got me all around France and the whole hole of Spain as well and I still use it now um I highly recommend these saddle packs as you can see I packed it right

Up to the edge um I should have gone for the 17 L one but um this this did actually do the job this is everything inside the saddle pack I’ll start here this is um the Montaine jacket Montaine prism it’s about 440 G um and it’s it’s not down it’s synthetic

Um and the reason I got synthetic was because if it gets a bit wet uh it’s still warm whereas down um wets out and stuff uh that that did the job nicely was very happy with that it’s actually a climbing jacket and um one of the good things about it is

The Hood um fits over a helmet which is pretty nifty uh definitely came in handy when I went up um Pico de Veta up at the mountain it was cold up there uh it’s definitely an essential piece of gear um I might go for a down

Jacket uh if I was to do a longer trip and I needed to save more weight but this was perfect for the job next is the tent I took a teranova laser Photon 1 uh it compresses quite quite small very good uh the poles are maybe

About 30 cm and they they don’t get any smaller than that but they did fit um all in all I think it’s about 600 G for the pole and the tent and it did come with um some pegs but they were like needle pegs and

I didn’t like it so I got these MSR ones um they’re called needle pegs um I did have some more but I lost some some got bent um but they’re very good not the lightest pegs but I didn’t want the lightest pegs um these did me

Well then I had um the sea to Summit traveler and it went down to 10° so perfect for Spain as it didn’t get any colder than um 10° uh it’s a down uh sleeping bag it was perfect for the job I was happy with that uh it’s not the

Smallest it doesn’t compress down any more than that but it did the job then I had um a gortex jacket um this is under well I think it’s about 100 gram it compresses really small uh it’s expensive but um worth it CU I wanted to save the

Weight I got this in a size medium uh I regret that cuz um it was a bit tight I probably would get the largest one they do next time just to have the option of putting my um Montaine jacket underneath uh it’s a shake dry one the

Water just lands on it and it just runs straight off it’s really good quality um it is expensive um but seeing as I space was a premium I was willing to pay it uh I do recommend them but definitely think about getting a few sizes up from your size for

Flexibility next was this towel uh just a little microfiber towel uh um it’s not very big at all uh yeah doesn’t cover my whole body um I can’t quite decide whether this was essential or not I did use it um a lot when I came out of the shower at

Campsites and I swam a lot so it did get quite a bit of use it’s not 100% essential but it fit so I took it then I had some uh gloves they’re very basic I don’t even know where I got them from uh very basic gloves I did wear them in the

Mountains not the best um but the other reason I took gloves was if I had to um put my bike chain back on I didn’t want to get oily hands so they are an essential to me next was this um Osprey mini Rock sack definitely not essential I could have done without it

Um but I did use it a lot when I went shopping um I would take it out um and I take it out and um put my food shopping in there and rather than having to carry like um a bag on the bike like a shopping bag I put everything in here

And then I could cycle back to the campsite and eat my dinner um it folds up really nice and small it was 40 quid I think um doesn’t weigh much this what it looks like uh folded out it’s got a little side pocket so put bottle in there maybe it’s a bit small

Um it was comfortable yeah not bad for the size uh and the weight definitely not essential but I did enjoy having it and lastly for the saddle pack I had uh these These are tissues but I used that as toilet roll um instead of just taking normal toilet

Roll I’d get these bags of tissues um and try and stuff as many any down the saddle pack as I possibly could um take I’d buy them from the shops um they’re they’re good yeah um and then I took some food bags to put put the uh

Toilet roll in after I only had to um go to the toilet at the side of the road once in the whole trip um but it was it was there as as the backup I didn’t want to be caught short um and yeah that’s everything from not this

Wheel that fell down uh that’s everything from uh the saddle pack this is the frame pack it’s the Alp kit possum cost about 80 quid I really like it I use it at home as well uh for every bike ride I go on it’s got all my tools in uh this side

It can fit quite a bit uh I I took four inner tube so I had another two there um and on the other side is another pocket and um but it’s just a thin pocket you can get like money in it and stuff um and anything really

Small this is everything that fit inside the um frame pack I also did have have another two inner tubes and at one point I I had six on me in in total and they did fit somehow so first up uh the inner tubes not much to say here really other

Than they butti inner tubes um they weigh quite a bit cuz I took um 33 mil tires um but I put them in in bag so they didn’t um wear on on the inside of the bag next up up is this um pump it’s the race rocket um I

Actually had a different one I think it it was pretty similar model um but it’s made by top peque they pack down really nice and small it’s got prester and shreer uh valve on it I really like them um I’ve had a couple yeah they’re really good they’re

About 30 quid um but definitely worth worth the money next I had a few cable ties um I cable tied my phone to the um bike so that was just if I needed to do it again I didn’t but they were there just in case or if any emergency repairs they come in

Handy I had these Allen keys I don’t like the ones on a multi-tool um I prefer these with a bit more leverage they are quite long um I think they’re made by topique I’ve had them a very long time um what does it say I don’t know um but yeah for me

Personally I like having the leverage it’s worth the extra weight then I had some uh bontreger Tire levers um these these about five quid they’re pretty light um any Tire levers will do the job as long as they don’t snap uh these work to treat

Though I did take a punch repair kit um but I didn’t use it um I just replaced the tubes um cuz I was a bit lazy I took some um tweezers though just in case I needed to um pull out any Thorns I didn’t have to but they were

There they’re so light you might as well take them um what’s this these are like some stick on patches didn’t use them and a Park Tool tire boot didn’t have to use that but I probably should have taken a couple of those they all fit in that

Box um didn’t use it but it’s good to have as a back and lastly I took some trusty duct tape I mean not duct tape electrical tape yeah um and I did actually use some for uh tying my um tying my spokes together when they

Broke I took this Spork uh this one’s by ecos slurps just spoon fork and Tin opener for all those tins of tuna that I had uh very good I also had a top tube bag uh this isn’t the one I took with me I actually borrowed um one from my friend that is

The next size up from this uh it was quite a bit bigger um this one wouldn’t fit all my stuff in it’s made by Alp kit uh as was the other one um I’ll show you what went in there in the top tube bag I had um an anchor power brick

26,800 um it’s got three uh inputs what was that outputs three outputs two inputs uh they’re really good I think Anor make the best power Banks and reasonable value yeah I’m pretty impressed with that did the job nicely I took three little mini cables that was enough uh the smallest ones you can

Get um and I took an anchor um plug that had the European uh thing and the English one so I could change them and that will fit in the bigger uh top tube bag the bike I took was a Fuji uh it’s a cyclocross bike so it’s

Got uh clearance for quite big tires these aren’t the tires I took um I took some cyclocross tires the ones that came with with the bike they did wear down quite a bit um these tires I’ve got on now um are better but they’re road tires and I did

Go over quite a bit of gravel so it’s probably a good idea having the psych cross tires um also I’ve changed the crank set but this is the crank set I took with me um was it uh 46 36 um and I think it was 1128 on the back on the

Cassette and I didn’t like it really um I much prefer this this is Shimano 105 uh front and back and I’ve gone for the 5034 now and uh that is much better um it wasn’t ideal gearing for the trip um but it did it didn’t stop me having fun um these are different

Wheels um the wheels that came with the bike um the spoke broke three times they were pretty terrible I don’t recommend them but uh these wheels are much better um so I’ve changed them out I also have had um these Elite bottle cages very nice and I did have um a

Strap an elite um bottle cage strap that you can strap here and have a third bottle and I had a little bottle cap on that one cuz the dirt um goes on the bottom more um and I took three Camelback Podium bottles uh they were good also on the

Bike um I actually going around Spain I um I had my phone case and I slit two um holes into it and cable tied the phone case so it rested on the stem um but I’ve since got this uh quad Lo that just wraps around the stem much

Better I wish I’d had that going around Spain this does the job very nicely this is the quadlock fitting mechanism that um fits on the back of a phone case this is a universal adapter uh you can get proper cases but my phone wasn’t a Samsung or an iPhone or whatever so

Uh and they just lock in there but that’s not what I took around Spain but um what I did worked for me but I definitely recommend getting that or something similar I also took this light it’s USB rechargeable it’s made by lazine or Laine uh 800 I think that’s the Lumen 800

Lumens yeah it was pretty good um I had the matching rear light as well um I probably would do a Dynamo if I was doing a longer trip but um this did what I needed it to do these are the clothes I took with me

Um it’s a a pearl isumi Jersey uh I got it for £2 at charity shop which is pretty good um the thing I like about it is it’s got two zip Pockets at the back um which is very handy I had passport in one side and money in the other side I definitely

Recommend getting two zips on a jersey I probably should have gone for something a bit brighter maybe a a fluorescent Jersey um but I didn’t get run over so that’s fine and then shorts a bit controversial I didn’t go for cycling shorts I actually took the

Nike um football shorts so I could uh swim and stuff in them I do like cycling shorts and I do I wear them when I’m at home uh I just decided to take these they had no padding uh but I didn’t mind too much the helmet I took was a c

Mjo uh very very com comfortable um i’ definitely recommend getting a good helmet because you don’t want to have an uncomfortable ride uh this about I think it was around about 80 uh definitely worth it strongly recommend C helmets um I’ve only ever had Scott helmets and jro helmets

Before um but this is my favorite one I’ve had these are the shoes I took they’re Shimano um what does it say is the model sh mt300 SB I think um they are SPD ones um because I had SPD pedals obviously um you can walk in them

Pretty good not like uh Road shoes that’s why I chose them although um doing the laces every morning although it sounds Petty did um get on my nerves a bit and if I was to do it again um I would get velcro one of the most essential items I

Think I possibly had was my watch um I can’t remember whether I took one or two um of them but it’s just a Casio watch uh I definitely wouldn’t go um without one if I had to pick one thing to take it would be the watch above any any

Other stuff even my sleeping bag to me it’s the most useful piece of equipment I have to navigate around Spain I use this map called maps. me it’s offline um mapping software so you don’t have to use the internet um and it looks like this you can um

Zoom into each uh sort of uh section like bar I don’t know what they call it in uh Spain Province or whatever um and you download each section of the map um for viewing offline and then I made a um a route in um Google my maps and you

Export the KML file send it over you can do all the points of interest um I’ve only got there there all the camp sites um that I took but I had a lot more um bookmarks on there when I went around there I had stuff like bike shops

Plotted out and um hotels and all sorts of things um but I I definitely recommend this app uh it’s the best one I’ve come across and it was really easy to use there is um a algorithm on here uh which I used a couple of times but it did take me down

Some gravel tracks so um for the most part doing your research before you go is probably better um I stuck mostly to it there were a few times I had to um you know sort of reroot and stuff but um for the most part this was very

Good there are a few things I uh didn’t take um I didn’t take a sleeping air mattress um a blowup one I I did round France but I found that um every morning that I woke up I would just be off the thing and um I found it pointless so I

Did have some pretty rough nights and uh there was it’s not like England where there’s lots of grass in Spain it’s Stony hard floors so I had some uncomfortable nights but I just put up with it um saved what like uh 3 400 gram or whatever it would be and the

Face uh it’s a bit controversial not taking an air mattress I know most people would um but I didn’t another thing I didn’t take was a lock well I say I didn’t take but I I did have one to start with and um then I ended up selling it to a bike shop

Because it was too heavy it was a Kryptonite one one of the delocks um but I got rid of it uh it’s a bit dodgy not having a lock um I would probably get there’s one called Auto which is an auto lock which is just a cafe lock

Um that isn’t really bombproof but um is just for if you’re nipping in somewhere quick um and they’re really lightweight um that probably would have been the better compromise than have a heavy one or none at all um another thing I didn’t take was glasses um I got some glasses given to

Me by my cousins um Halfway Around the trip uh some some shades I didn’t take any initially with me I didn’t use them too much afterwards um I used them a bit um on some of the Descent it was pretty handy but not an essential to

Me um another thing I didn’t take was spare clothes um which is a bit controversial for some people I guess um I ended up smelling a bit but I didn’t really care um I didn’t want to take the extra weight of um clothes uh I only took one pair of

Socks um yeah I I don’t see the point in having them um but that M will work for everyone there are some things I do differently um this is a bit controversial as well um I probably would have taken some headphones you can get these clip on one so you can still

Wear your helmet um for under a tener um these are Panasonic ones I do listen to music when I’m cycling about normally I know some people don’t like that idea but I probably should have taken some headphones uh not that I got bored I didn’t get bored um it just

Would have been nice motivationally to have a bit bit of music uh another thing um that I might have done differently is Al although it did work for me having um my tent in um the saddle pack with um my jacket and stuff uh if I was to do a longer trip

And the weather was to be worse uh basically more rain um I would put my tent and my rain jacket in an arrow bag on some Arrow bag handlebars at the front and keep them separate uh it didn’t it only rained once I think in

The whole over 40 days so it wasn’t a problem for me but um if you’re doing longer trips uh you might want to consider separating your um tent from your other gear another thing um that I might do differently is the light situation um I quite like the idea of

Dynamo lights uh they’re a bit more expensive and the resistance slows you down um but I like the idea of that and charging stuff off rather than relying on a power bank especially if I was to go somewhere more isolated I would probably think about getting a

Dynamo and lastly um something I’d do differently is the gearing I had 46 uh 36 I think on the front 1128 on the back um I really didn’t like that um I would definitely I definitely have 5034 uh I think that’s a nice balance um 534 works for me when I’m

Cycling at home uh it was very hilly in Spain very very hilly and I could have done with some easier gears um to spin the amount of money I spent um I’m going to tally up and put it on the screen uh if it’s going to be an

Approximate though um because I didn’t keep track of all my expenditure uh the bike was um maybe 1,200 I think um uh what’s my guess my guess for the gear I don’t know uh under five I don’t know maybe 5 to 600 for everything and the spending money um I spent somewhere

Between between 1,500 and 1,800 um and that lasted me for uh I think it was about 48 days um I did eat in restaurants I did have some hotels I stayed at campsites I didn’t uh sleep at the side of the road uh I didn’t have it completely rough all the time

Um so yeah I’d say it’s fairly cheap really it’s not it’s not extravagant uh you can do it cheaper you can do it uh with spending a lot more money on maybe getting more hotels but I think I struck a nice balance I um used a website called lighter pack.com um which is

Basically uh a little website that you can put all your gear on you can put the um all the weights of everything and um and it comes up with a pie chart showing you how much everything weighs uh I use that to prepare to get all my gear ready

Um see how much everything would weigh and um all the stuff like as a checklist uh it’s pretty useful uh I’ll leave a link in the description to my one so you can see everything that I took uh I found that to be quite handy and it’s good to look at other

People’s and lastly here’s uh some of the books that inspired me um on my journey well not on my journey but for my journey uh got coffee first then the world by Jenny Graham she was the uh fastest woman cyclist around the world uh that’s a good one uh got

This uh by Shawn Conway World cycling stripped bear uh it’s quite a small book but it talks about all the gear that he took uh around the world and some of the things like getting Visa and stuff like that um and this is Shan Conway’s big mile cycling it talks about his uh

European trip uh cycling through Europe uh got aliser Humphrey’s um cycling around the world book part one and part two that’s a good one got the mark Bowmont books um this is the Americas uh the Around the World in 80 Days his record uh breaking attempt that’s a good

One uh and his Africa solo uh it’s a bit smaller than the others that’s a good one um and I’ve got his around the world that he that’s over there um that he uh did before he did his world record breaking one and then obviously I’ve got some other cycling books
