Welcome everyone!

Today we are in the town of Grimsby Ontario, Canada. We are taking an exploring walk down Main Street and checking out the sites into the downtown. We will walk by many nice heritage homes as we walk along Main Street.
We also stop over for a walk by the beautiful and colourful and unique painted lady homes /gingerbread homes near Grimsby Beach. Most of these homes are from the 1900’s. We end the walk overlooking Lake Ontario.

    About Grimsby:

Grimsby is a town on Lake Ontario in the Niagara Region, Ontario, Canada. Grimsby is at the eastern end of the Hamilton Census Metropolitan Area.[2] It is named after the English fishing town of Grimsby in north-east Lincolnshire. The majority of residents reside in the area bounded by Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, home to a section of the Bruce Trail.

The Village of Grimsby was officially incorporated in 1876 and became a town in 1922. The community has gone through many changes, from being a small rural village to a centre for the manufacture of farm machinery, hospital furniture, furnaces and other metal products; and later the hub of the Niagara Peninsula’s fruit-growing industry. Grimsby also had a successful fishing industry which lasted until the 1960s. The Town of Grimsby and the Township of North Grimsby were amalgamated in 1970 with the formation of the Regional Municipality of Niagara. With a number of wineries and distilleries, Grimsby now serves as the starting point for touring the Niagara wine region.

Hope you enjoy the walk! 😊

    Thank you for watching! 😊👣🇨🇦

Good morning everyone it is Tuesday today and today we are in the town of Grimsby Ontario and we’re going to take a walk on Main Street to downtown and we’re just outside of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital here and looks like they’re doing a big um addition to

It like a big renovation to the hospital here and it’s a beautiful sunny day this is a new place for me to explore so I’m kind of excited to be here I’ve never really walked through here but it’s not really far from St Catherine it’s about a 20 20 25 minute Drive

Roughly uh but I noticed when I was coming into the town and I was looking for places to park there’s a lot of beautiful old homes here along Main Street so we’re going to be passing by those as we make our way to the downtown and grimby is near Lake

Ontario it’s in between Hamilton and St Catherine’s and it’s near the Niagara escarment and it has a population of approximately 29,000 people and it’s a nice little town from what I’ve seen I’ve driven through here before but never really walked around and explored it I’ve visited a few

Shops um over the years you’ll see one as we pass up here we’re going to pass by it but yeah I thought it would’ be nice A little town visit today something different to see explore some nice sits and then I uh there’s another area near the beach I

Would like to take you to at the end to show you that so it should be good walk hope you enjoy so grimby uh is named after a town in Lincolnshire UK and it was a little fishing town there from what I read so this is named

After that but you’ll see other places in Canada that have English names as well well looks like there’s a lot of shops in this Plaza here and the nice big clock up there at the Top Pizza House wonder if the pizza house is any [Applause]

Good so I think it’s going to take us about 20 minutes to walk to the downtown from here so it’s going to be fun exploring walk we’re just approaching Wentworth drive and I think I mentioned that we’re on Main Street you can see across the street there’s a Shopper Drug Mart in

Dollarama and there’s also a train station that’s not too far away um that you can I’m pretty sure the GO train stops There oh wow okay so this is Cole’s Florest and garden center and I used to come here quite often uh they had a greenhouse you could buy plants and flowers here they even had a special pond plant area it looks like it’s all closed up I’m like I’m surprised it’s been here

For so many years I wonder if it’s permanently closed H interesting know what’s happening with it there’s a Tim Hortons here on the left I enjoyed a nice Timmy’s on the way here today yeah it’s just looks like oh maybe they’re going to be doing some uh construction to it or something

Something’s going on there if somebody knows let me know I’ll have to Google it if I find out what’s happening I’ll put it in the in the Video see they have another place here that was part of it Nice old looking home yeah it must be just a big project they’re doing well I’m thinking I’m not positive on that and then across the street here is where they had their uh special shop for ponds I’m pretty sure that’s where it was really really nice if you want to

Buy pond plants and things like that I have a pond so once in a while we we’ve come visit here I can see there’s people out there I wonder what they’re [Applause] doing still looks like they have things set up there but yeah it’s it’s closes too over there they must be doing maybe they’re renovating oh wow look at this place see I’ve passed this on the way here he beautiful home see it here it’s Gorgeous I wonder what year this was built you can see it needs a little bit of repair and looks like there’s a big garage attached to it there bet you they had horses back in the day what a beautiful looking home Though yeah I noticed a few homes along here like that we’re going to see coming up here again on the left is another One we’re just passing Nell’s Road and I believe this way I’m not if it’s on I’m not sure if it’s on this street but one of these streets will take you to Beamer Conservation area which is a really nice place for hiking at this place Green Belt Academy look at

    2. Great video! Last summer, my wife and I stayed at a Ramada hotel near Jordan Harbour which was right off Lake Ontario. Though our visit there was short, we had a great time! Next time, we'll have to see Grimsby

    3. Grimsby looks like a nice town. I've never been there. Very cool to see the Niagara Escarpment in the video. I've always found it interesting how far the escarpment goes. I believe it goes all the way to Michigan. Thanks for the walk!

    4. Hi Christine nice walk around Grimsby. Grimsby overhere is quite a large fishing port in north east England. My sister would like Coles Garden Centre, she is obsessed with garden centre's. Nice properties with big plots. Liked Centennial Park.Good variety of little shops.Modest of you not to mention you could play classical guitar and wonderful backing track. Wonderful relaxing video and hope you are feeling better.

    5. Hi Christine,

I just actually caught your premiere of Grimsby. It is so interesting and as I mentioned before on some of my comments I am fascinated with other towns in or around the Niagara region. It seems like a nice Town to visit. I know we always see the cut off to get there every time we go to Niagara Falls. 👍. Only been through Grimsby once or twice however never really explored the town. Interesting you mentioned a Grimsby in the UK to. I did not know that. Seems like a bit of history there to and the town has grown and developed. Thank you for sharing and once again I learn something new all the time. 🙏😊

    6. Hi Chris, Grimsby looks great with all of the beautiful homes and its interesting history of how it became a town. There are some nice neighbourhoo as you walked around and the weather was so good for you ! That looked a, really nice place especially the creek area where you can sit at the picnic tables and relax ! So beautiful ~ Anna 👍

    7. Absolutely a delightful walk Christine! Never knew Grimsby is such an interesting town with so many historical and heritage houses and those wonderfully painted homes at the beach were unexpected! The last time we stopped at Grimsby was more than 35 years ago when we took our young daughters to pick cherries in the local orchards. Now that I have seen this, I hope to take my grandchild there one day when I am able. Thank you for taking us along!

    8. Hi Christine, lovely day for a walk. I think you might need to win the lottery to buy one of those lovely houses. Not many people around except the odd dog walker. Cool that the 3 Stooges director was from that neck of the woods and they have a plaque. The walk along the river/stream looked lovely. I've taken a train from Ottawa to Toronto down the side of Lake Ontario. You could just about make the skyline out on your video across the lake. Lovely tour 👍Paul

    9. Hello Christine, a lovely day for a walk the sun is shining. Lovely houses as you continue your walk. Wow! nice to see the memorial of the Director of the 3 Stooges. A lovely walk by the river. Loved the painted house, enjoy the weekend take care x Julie and Tony x

    10. HI Christine, this Grimsby is a bit different from the one we know in the UK! What a beautiful town with all the attractive and unique homes. Lovely to see the painted houses too. Thanks for taking us with you on your walk 😊❤

    11. Wow Christine this was a great video and a really interesting wander around Grimsby, some wonderful streets and surprisingly quiet! I enjoyed reading about the town too, thank you!
