For the past few weeks we’ve been traveling through Albania and apart from the beautiful Villages and the picturesque Landscapes the main thing that stood out was the friendliness of the Albanian people and today I’m going to put that to the test charen is dropping me off here in the middle of

Nowhere and over the next 24 hours I need to make my way around 200 km North to the city called elbasan which is where we’ll meet up again so this is my final meal before I hit the road might be my last one and to make things more interesting

I’m leaving both my phone and my wallet behind here you go how are you feeling excited but scared at the same time I think you’re a bit [Applause] Crazy okay so as you might be able to tell I might have chosen the wrong day to do this because it seems like winter has started today in Albania it’s pretty cold I’m not sure where I am exactly all I know is that I’m about 5 minutes away

From Teena which which is where we were in last week’s video it’s currently 11:00 a.m. and we haven’t got much daylight left so I want to try and get as North as possible um I haven’t really got much of a plan to be honest but we’ll just see how it

Goes okay it’s going to be a long day so I think I’ve made mistake number one already because the cars are just whizzing by here I might need to walk back to the town which is about 5 10 minute walk so I’ve actually made it to

Direction so I’ve been here for about half an hour already no one stopped there actually a few tinted Mercedes passing by um it looks like there’s a bunch of guys in there from what I can see at those points I’m just pulling my hand in I don’t mind waiting a bit

Longer ideally want to start with a family maybe or just a guy um it’ll be a bit safer for my first hitchhiking experience keep in mind I’ve never hitchhiked in my life so I’m by no means an expert at this I’m just winging it and yeah when I see like a normal family

Can see on the signs I think I need to stop in fear and then from there it should just be like another hour D mag phace ah okay okay your job Nice so the guy just stopped on the side of the road he’s buying some food and yeah it looks like we’re making our Way North just need to figure out where I should get out hly he driving a bit fast to be honest as well so is a bit scary at

Times but yeah not going to get out here that’s for sure in the middle of nowhere actually get me something to eat as well keep this for later Rina elbasani okay yes Tana Tana Tana yeah yeah both are good it’s good for me anything no problem yeah it’s a bit hard

Cuz it’s not really understanding much but at least we managed to communicate in some way and I’ve made half the trip today spe yeah they give you a ticket if you’re going too fast slow slow so we’re actually driving a bit more slow now on the main road

It’s just straight and from what I’ve understood it’s better to go to tyana in order to get to elbasan tomorrow so I’m going to be traveling more but at least then tomorrow it should be easier to find someone else who can take me to so I’m with him for another hour or two

Expecting I’m only a few kilometers north of elbasan but it’s going to get dark in the next hour or two so I definitely need somewhere to sleep from what I can understand Daran was explaining that his house is too small and I can’t stay there but I didn’t want to push my luck

To be honest I’m so thankful that he brought me all the way with him here I’m not really that hungry although I haven’t really eaten much I’ve still got that Mandarin here somewhere oops that’s the address I don’t want to lose that I’m in a foreign

Country in the capital city I don’t know where I am I got no internet no money this is not looking good and to be honest everyone has just given me weird STS Al s cuz I’m talking to the camera but it’s not really that promising and I

Don’t even know where I’m going to start to ask for help so the problem here in tyano at least the place that I’m in in the city center it looks like everyone’s going somewhere they’re either catching the bus cycling or coming from somewhere or going somewhere so it’s very difficult

To approach someone and ask for help might need to rethink my plan and try and get to elbasan maybe today it’s just it’s going to be dark by the time I get there how do you speak English no no no English no problem hi do you speak

English no no no okay do you speak English no no one seems to speak English and coming to the city was a bad idea looking at the map it seemed like a brilliant idea because now I just need to go a few kilometers South to elbasan but logistically in regards to the

People trying to get help here it’s a bit difficult everyone’s nice you know but it’s just everyone’s busy and it’s l people got their earpods they know their students so not everyone is so approachable so one of the old guys spoke very little English and he saw me

There standing for well he was there for about 10 minutes I think and he said like he’s trying to say what are you doing and I explained to him the situation I don’t know if he fully understood but they actually give me some small coins here I don’t know if

It’s enough but told me to try and get the bus from here tell you what the cars do not stop for anyone here seen about three people nearly get run over today that’s so all I need it’s so weird being without a phone you know you I just

Don’t know where I am normally you just open up the internet and check Google Maps and everything I’m just walking about like crazy I don’t even know where I’m going I’m just keeping to the straight streets you know the main road so I’m just going straight ahead so that

Way I I can’t get lost but it is almost getting dark now and I’m getting a bit worried to be honest if I do make it I’ll be actually quite surprised that I made it there that fast without any money you yeah and I’m trying to survive

Where I go now however I try and find somewhere to sleep here in tyana which out the bik actually uh you very problem because elbasan is you going to terminal I don’t know I don’t know yet or else I’m trying to find a place where I can

Not uh I am a room is a for person my friend friend friend but uh you go to FY and speak maybe uh here uh fly personal you what’s up I I don’t know maybe I will look for it all cool man thank you good to meet you man thank you so much Byebye it turns out to get to elbasan by bus was indeed going to be a big problem because there are no buses that leave from the city center and the terminal I need to get to is about 10 km outside of Tyana still no luck after about an hour waiting by the road finally someone stopped and offered to take me to the terminal or at least that’s what I think he said so the terminal where I need to get the bus from to elbasan was about 2

Hours away from where I was so lucky I’ve got a lift with this guy Here yeah thank you so much thank you traff too much traffic yeah so I think what he’s saying is there’s a lot of traffic here in Albania thank you very much byebye all right looks like I made it lucky I wasn’t walking this was so far away it

Looks like some kind of terminal outside of the city I just hope I can getat the bus from here because this is getting ridiculous now um is there bus to elbasan here yes yes he’s here black black one thank you very much elbasan how much is it how much is it to

And yeah I don’t know how far away she was to be honest but I really hope she turns up soon cuz it’s getting cold and yeah I’ve just had a really long day and also have no idea which direction she’s coming from whether it’s this way or
