[Applause] hello and welcome to another video today I’m riding the Suzuki vstrom 800 re so this is a new model from Suzuki and it’s a more Road focused version of their 800d as you can see we’ve got cast Wheels a 19in front wheel size 17 in at

The rear we’ve got uh shower big piston Forks we’ve got a lower seat height but let’s throw our leg over it and see what we think okay so throwing my leg over the 825 mm seat height I can’t quite flat foot it but I’m on the balls of my

Feet so it’s not too bad let’s turn on the dash a very familiar Dash this is the one that’s on the jsx 8S as well as the vom 800 de as well as the 1050 range so it’s all very familiar let’s start her up I think it sounds pretty good so

Let’s uh Chuck it into gear and we get going and we’ll talk about this new vrom 800 re and see what we think so first things first we’ll talk about the engine we’ve got that 776 parallel 776 CC I should say parallel twin engine and that’s putting out around

About 84 horses 83 horses something like that and 78 Newton met of torque I believe it is a very py and Pokey engine certainly low down and uh the engine is no different over the de it’s exactly the same tune makes power at the same points so it’s a very familiar feeling

Bike in fact much of this bike is the same as the de with some dehe with some key differences being the uh ergonomics braking and suspension and a few of the electronics that are slightly different uh suspension then we’ve got show a big piston uh separate function

Fork those have got 150 mm of travel whereas the de has got 220 mil these are not fully adjustable but you do have preload adjustability up front and at the rear we’ve got the link type monos shock and that is adjustable for preload and rebound camping it still

Has the hand wheel so you can easily adjust things if you put Luggage in a have a plion so that’s nice that that’s carried over from the de we’ve got that lovely 5-in TFT Dash as well as I’ve already said that’s very familiar from the other bikes in the the

Lineup so the brakes are slightly different so up front instead of axial twin piston brakes we’ve got four piston radial calipers those are from Nissin and those bite down onto 310 mil discs up front dual discs and at the rear we have a single piston caliper and I think it’s a 260 mil

Disc if I’m not mistaken Electronics we’ve got riding modes A and C A being the most aggressive C being the least aggressive and B as you’d imagine being somewhere in the middle they all make the same amount of power it’s just how they deliver that power that’s different so the actual

Throttle curves are different but the peak power is the same in all modes we’ve got switchable ABS we’ve got switchable traction control as well as uh you can switch traction off if you want to do some H wheelies and be naughty it’s also got an up and down quick shifter as standard

It’s obviously a sixspeed chain driven gearbox sorry six-speed gearbox and the final transmission is chain or the transmission type is Chang this is getting a little bit little bit nody Minaj toy not quite sure how much grip this has got it looks kind of like the shell

Grip so I’m currently in riding mode a which is the most aggressive and I’ve got traction control at one so a little bit of intervention but I did switch the traction off earlier so I could try and pull a wheelie not very successfully on my tat uh the ergonomics

Then that’s another thing they’ve changed so the bars are lowered down and further forward to give a bit more weight over that front wheel lovely views so that it just feels a bit more confidence aspiring on the road and I feel that that is pretty well sorted out of the

Crate and the seat is fairly comfortable these vrom seats are renowned for being pretty pretty comfortable longer rides we’ve been riding for about 3 or 4 hours and yeah I’m not we’ve had plenty of stops but I’m not feeling much discomfort at all bars are 15 mm narrow

As well as being further forward and down the pegs are further back and slightly higher because this bike has less ground clearance so that’s something they’ve had to do to alleviate that what I love about this engine is just it seems to like even in third gear right just I’m not changing

Gear I’m just going to leave it in third just roll on it’s got so much oh flow down it’s absolutely wonderful easy overtakes lovely slick gear change as well happy deers man as Mossy would say the uh the new brakes the Nissin four piston calipers are lovely they’ve got a

Nice amount of bite fi to them on the de I found those brakes surprisingly good even though they were axial twin piston uh calipers uh these are a little bit sharper actually I quite like them they’re not you know they’re not the grabbies of brakes in the world but uh

For what the bike is aimed at I think they are very very nice indeed they’re not you know br mono blocks but yeah they do perform well the suspension so that’s obviously one of the other big changes we’ve gone from the big 220 long travel suspension up front to the 150

Mm more Road biased suspension and on all the roads we’ve done today I have to say I can’t really fault it it’s it’s firm yet plush and it seems that out of the out of the box Suzuki have just done a great job as they always seem to do in

Getting a really good balance between sort of nimal agile handling and confidence and assured footing and it’s just I I honestly I can’t fault it I really can’t you know if you’re going to really push hard you might start to find the limits of what the suspension can do but even today

Riding a little bit more briskly than I usually do I’ve not had any moments or issues at all the suspension the wheels all working together just to provide a very nice positive feedback Road experience essentially which is pretty much what it does what it says on the

Tin it being the re which means Road Explorer and de means dirt Explorer which sounds a bit naughty doesn’t it it’s surprisingly agile and rather comfortable over on the side of the tire it’s just fun it’s just really fun to ride and granted the bike looks wise

I think the de looks better it looks a bit more purposeful and it’s it’s not it’s not a sexy bike but it’s not unattractive either for what this bike is designed to do I think it’s absolutely cracking I’ve mentioned most of the electronics um riding modes you got the

Quick shifter you’ve got LED lights all over which is nice f but uh as you can see from these roads this bike is just eating it up and saying yes please I want more you can obviously get so many accessories top box paniers a tool touring screen so let’s

Mention the screen actually it’s not the prettiest I’ll I’ll grant you that it’s a bit weird looking you can get a taller touring focused screen if you so wish look at this absolutely lovely um and you can adjust the screen but it’s a manual adjustment so you do

Have to get your tools out get your tools out for the lads switch gear standard Suzuki or modern Suzuki Affair and it’s ever so easy to change things three buttons essentially horned in the place I want it indicators where I want them all in all

It’s a very nice 20 L fuel tank as well so they say it’s good for about 280 M but that does of course depend on how you are riding so price for this machine is 9699 so400 underneath the £10,000 Mark um which I think is fairly reasonable for what you get as

Standard uh competition for this bike I see the tiger 850 sport the Tracer 7 probably not the versus I think the versus is is sort of competing against the vrom 650 and interestingly the vrom 650 is not going anywhere that is Still still going to be in Suzuki’s lineup because there’s still a demand for it I spoke to one of the guys yesterday and he said nope we’ve got no plans to get rid of it just yet which is good actually it’s good to have options you know it’s also got the Suzuki easy

Start system slipper clutch essentially if you’re going to want to go touring if you got a budget of around about £10,000 you need to be checking this bike out it certainly is a very capable machine and it will do probably everything that you need it to while

Also giving you a very reliable platform to do it and great deal Network as well I think it’s uh you got Suzuki’s warranty so dealer activated warranty so when you go to the dealer and get your service done it activates the warranty I think it’s up to 7 years and while I do

Think the de looks better I like how this rides I prefer how this rides and I would have no issues recommending this bike to you if you’re looking for a road based tour that won’t break the bank and it’ll be reliable super fun pretty flickable all the electronics you need

Okay it might not be sexy to look at but you can’t have everything and I actually think it looks all right there’s a color called there’s three colors this blue there’s a matte gray green and I think that’s the best looking color personally cons I would say I don’t like

How that windshield looks and the fact that you can’t adjust it without tools that’s a bit of a bit of a faar I think but uh another issue is cruise control like it’s a road-going Touring bike why the heck does it not come with cruise control

Even as an option but perhaps in the future that is something that you know will come out for this bike as a midlife update we’ll see but at the moment they wanted to hit a certain price they do look at what the competition is offering as well so that kind of drives Suzuki’s

Thinking James is off like a scolded cat wait for me so that will do for this video thank you so much for watching if you do a GU today do ride safely but remember to have fun of course and until next time peace Tata look at it just look at it Gorgeous

    1. Hi Dan! What about the vibration what usually comes at around 120km/h? It cause a pretty decent vibration on right foot pags and the right side of the wheel as I observed on DE.

    2. With that kind of money I should have cruise control. That’s why I won’t be buying one I’ll be buying the CF Moto ibexes 100 which has kickstand cruise control, and all these electronic features that you just can’t pass up and it’s a good bike.

    3. Cruise would make it possible to buy this bike because it makes riding much less tiring for this senior rider. Without it I have to stick to less powerful machines like my Burgman 400, or my 500F that require much less concentration to ride at the speed limit. That was why I had to get rid of my 15 V-Strom 1000, Even though it was my favourite bike of all time . Every time I looked down I was either 10 under or 20 kph over. That made it too tiring to ride any distance. If price is an issue, make cruise an option.

    4. hm not sure if i should get the 125cc-license like i commented on another video or just get the A-license available even though it would be first time with a big geared bike

    5. Hi Dan, ive just gotten my licence and after doing a lot of researche ended up with this bike. Your video motivated me to do a testride and now i ordered one.
Got to wait 3 weeks until its ready. Thnx for this great review helpt a lot making a decision.
