The Trails Are Back!

I am psyched to be back exploring the (newly refurbed) MTB trails just outside Nottingham. It seems that a lot has happend in the year since I was last here (tree felling, storms and a heck of a lot of rebuilding). So lets take a deep dive in to the trails and catch up with the locals.

Hello and welcome back to the channel today I’m at a place called watchwood Plantation just north of Nottingham it’s home to a lot of really short but very exciting downhill Trails so I’m here to check him out let’s go long so long why you keep me wai that was

Awesome watchwood has a number of great little Trails full of some cool features and exciting lines it’s a place well used by local Riders and it’s clear that they love to create playful Trails I can’t wait to get riding so I haven’t ridden here for

About a year and I’d be lying if I said I remembered where the trails were and a little bird told me because of sort of felling and you know falling trees over winter some of the trails have had a bit of a revamp so I’m really excited to see what they’ve got here

Today okay here’s one let’s give it a try dropping straight into the first Trail I remember these being windy lines through the close packed trees this creates a flowy but technical Trail something that definitely made me wish I’d remember to cut my bars down a bit

800 bars and tight trees are not a winning in combination so I love the natural feel of these trails and as you’ll see today the addition of a few key features really makes this place exciting it’s clear to see that these Trails have been created with fun in mind they’re

Constantly weaving around the forest and there’s always small kickers or obstacles to make the ride more interesting in just over a minute we’re at the bottom but the good news the short Trail means that there’s only a short push-up to go and before you know

It you’re back at the top again so as you’re riding along here the the trails just seem to pop out of the forest I have no idea where they go a lot of them sort of join up together but they’re only sort of a minute or so nothing too

Long let’s just hit it and see what we find this next Trail is slightly different this one works its way through a slightly more open section of the woods mixed in with the small burm Corners are a number of fun mini kickers these are all rollable if you don’t want

To jump them but they’re definitely a good feature to have especially if you’re someone who isn’t too confident at jumping features like this are a great place to start and when I get to the main trail here you’ll see why mastering all these small features is really

Important as this Trail winds along it speeds up as it gets to the steeper part of the forest at roughly 1 minute long these trails are short but sweet normally I’d say that as a negative but this really doesn’t feel like it here with a number of different Trails all

Boasting different features there’s such a variety of fun Trails here and with such a short push-up you can easily run laps focusing on features different skills or just jamming with other Riders these trails are amazing to find these Trails I was just pedaling along the track darting into

The woods when I saw what looks to be a good trail sometimes this didn’t pay off but sometimes it really did like when I found this Trail it starts off like any other with a tight bimble through the trees tight very tight but when you drop into this corner you come across some

Brilliant features a small t t top and a drop wow check these out yes this is going to go right so I’ve just come down and stumbled across this line little tabletop really fun looking drop down here so when you’re out riding off piece Trails like this it’s always

Worth just having a little inspect of the features just because you want to just make sure they’re solid before you ride over them yeah looks good to me let’s give it a go so I’m just going to push my way back up to the start and actually give it a

Proper ride this looks like it’s going to be a really interesting Trail I’ll be honest that drop didn’t look like the safest or sturdiest of features so I gave it a good kick and I think it looks fine so I’m excited about riding it let’s give it a

Try so I dropped in again avoided the awkward tree and then made my way towards the jump the lip of the jump is really nice and it has a nice easy Landing the drop is the same you can then carry on down to some more features after a series of BMS there’s a

Mini Gap and a second roller B before hitting a big left bur from here the trail continues down snaking its way left and right through the tighter sections of the trees today I’m riding my full suspension bike but last time I came here a year ago I was on my hard tail

And either bike works great here but if you’re looking to get as many laps in as possible an ebike would definitely be a good idea if you’re comfortable with a little airtime this Trail is nothing too technical but certainly enough to spice up your ride and make you want to ride

It again which originally was my plan but on my pushup back to the top I stumbled on another exciting looking section oh my God look at this that I’ve just found check out this for an amazing flow Trail this is insane so of course I just had to give it a

Go this trailer is literally like a bob slope r as you round the first right hand corner you’re catapulted into a series of fastpaced birds yes this place is epic a really smooth and fun piece of trail from here there are a couple of line options that snake their way down

To the bottom of the hill on or be a rougher terrain than the initial section like I said the variety of Trail types here is brilliant one minute you’re riding a drop the next you’re weaving through a Dugout and now I’m running on ruty line to the bottom of

The woods there really is something for everyone and loads of things to explore but honestly these are nothing compared to the excitement of what I found next so this is the main line here which I think it’s called Hannah and I’ve heard really good things apparently it

Ends in a bit of a jump park so this will be a good one to explore as you’re about to see this is undoubtedly the best trail on the hill and today is running really nicely it’s a fast and flowing trail with a few jumps and some Mega burs the

Combination of brilliant flow and exciting features make this the perfect Trail amazing you can see how riding all the other trails with a jumps BMS and drops sets you up ready to ride this it has slightly hip tabletops mini transfers and you don’t have to work

Hard to enjoy it you can just flow down and enjoy the ride as you get lower down you come towards this the small jump area a maze filled with small gaps and tabletops so I decided to hit it blind a small tabletop into a slightly hip Gap

Jump and then I sort of got lost and rolled my way to the end great fun this jump area is where most of the Riders like to hang out there was a great Community Vibe on the day I went so I let them show me how it’s

Done this is a great line and it’s easy to see why everyone loves it so much considering this was all handbuilt by a few dedicated individuals this is really impressive this isn’t the steepest or longest Hill in the Midlands but here they’ve created a better flow Trail than

Any of the big trail centers in the area it shows what can be accomplished by a group of passionate Riders I could hon honestly ride this Trail all day long as we came to the jumps I was going a bit too fast and overcooked the first
