2. Ronaldo was especially good at free kicks before 2014, so this study is taking away his best years of free kick taking which is very unfair for him.

To be honest all of the people talking shit about ronaldo can't even score 1 freekick in their life
But still he is top 150
That's because the more free kicks you take, the less chance you eventually have to score because you will inevietably happen to have to take the kick from many awkward positions. For players that regularly take free kicks, the percentage will be lower because they take them even if the position is bad, even if it's too far or even if the chance to score is really low for whatever reason. They just take them from both good and bad positions. On the other hand some of the other players that don't take free kicks as regularly but wait for better positions, it's easier for them to score higher percentages because they have better chances in general. If any of the top percentage players on that list had as many attempts from as many diverse positions and distances as Ronaldo, they would probably have lower percentage than Ronaldo or Messi. Ronaldo and Messi have lower percentage because they take most of the bad and unfavourable opportunities as well.
