Follow along as we walk over 1500 km on our longest Camino yet — the Via Podiensis — from Le Puy-en-Velay, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

We started the Via Podiensis (Le Puy Camino) on August 7, 2023, spending 28 days walking in France, arriving at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on September 3rd. From there, we continued on the Camino Frances, arriving in Santiago on September 29th.

This is our first time walking the Via Podiensis and our second time on the Camino Frances. We have hiked several other Camino routes in Spain including the Camino Primitivo (May 2023), Camino de Invierno (March 2023), the Camino del Norte (July 2019), and the Camino Frances (September 2017). We packed ultralight bags for all of our journeys.

Our journey of over 1,500 kilm began in Leu en in France over the next 2 months we’re walking the pilgrimage to Santiago de compostella we’ve walked many of the Camino routes in Spain but this is our first time walking the Via podian it’s also called the shaman du and the

Gr65 we are excited to experience the beautiful Villages along this historical route I’m Sean and I’m Laney and this is days we Spend we started by taking a train from Leon to the valley of Lei beginning the trip as a group of five meet Hans and Laura are Swedish friends getting married in Santiago de compostella at the end of this journey they met on the Camino 6 years ago we’re also joined by their Swedish

Friend clus it’s his first Camino and he’s walking with us for the first six Dayses on Day Zero we’re exploring the historical and beautiful city of Lei and its iconic volcanic Landscape We are in Le en about to start the Via podes tomorrow we begin our walk today is just a good day to explore all the beautiful sites in L it’s really cool You Sean is eating food slow down please you look crazy and [Laughter] Gross Good morning pilgrims it’s day one of vianes from Le and we are going to church which is this big building right behind me they’re going to do the pilgrim blessing Pilgrim mass and then open the doors and we all leave the same time to start our walk or our pilgrimage Here Comes Sean

We’re leaving our Jeet or the de George I’m terrible I apologize Now taking our first step steps on the P from the church down the stairs so iconic the pilgrim Mass was very much worth going to wake up for it get blessed then you’re on your Way Look No don’t die they want it’s been a pretty good day we’ve been walking through nothing but adorable little Villages and country lanes and these Woody paths the last couple kilometers have been a little bit more tough terrain wise just a lot more rocks on the road and since we’re tired it’s

Like bag feels pretty heavy today since is day one and think I overdid it on the snacks and I’ve got like soap for 2 months with [Laughter] me we’re almost to our destination and it’ll be a really nice night at our first Jeet snake serpent little

Guy I think it’s aever it’s not a dangerous one okay is true better to be safe lny you want to eat my beet Again Oh that’s Good We had to interrupt dinner for the sunset show oh what a grand [Laughter] place dance with me get back in there dancing me good morning from day two on the Via podian we are in Ros good I think we’re walking about 23 km today a little shorter

Day uh we’re going to La clus viip podian is a little bit different in this first section from Leu to Kong is very popular among French families and um holiday tourism so we made reservations for our first nine days which is very different for us so we know exactly

Where we’re going and how far we’re going so let’s Go L’s up front clearing all the spiderwebs for me so we’re going down that Steep Hill to the river then we go up a steep hill out of the river and then it’s pretty chill Today the PC [Applause] why We’re on a bridge [Laughter] Woo I shirts inside out but I realized it now at 10:00 a.m. because I got dressed in the dark had a Girl We about 2 and 1 12 km out from SOG and it’s feeling hot 12:30 we’re going to take a nice long break and SG before continuing to our beats tonight Sheep we’re walking into sa had to stop and be very tsty in front of this awesome calabra hopefully we get a beer maybe some food Going Violet drink like candy be good just a casual 13th century Tower behind me going to the church looking for a stamp follow the pop Friend heading out of s and it is a little touristy but in the cutest way ever I mean that museum just we really had to get creative in our interpretation their lack of French It’s really hot and we’ve just been walking on a road in the Sun but we dipped our Buffs and now it’s better yeah much better CL oh what a day 23 km sometimes can feel so long we just took this long break in the middle and stay too so everything is we’re still getting used to walking a lot this Jeet is in the middle of nowhere but it’s gorgeous so we’re going

To drink beer we did our laundry and we’re going to have our little communal Dinner Good morning on day three it is 8:10 in the morning in August we’re going 24 kmers today from La Claus famous for this Tower we’re both feeling pretty good for day three not too sore my feet feel pretty good could just be because it’s early morning and it’s still really cool out but it’s so beautiful out here this quiet country road with a shoulder for us to walk on oh big difference from yesterday

Afternoon’s Sunny hot slog where I ran out of energy I think we feel stronger because we got attacked by the wolf and now we’ve got wolf energy we’ve got wolf energy from the Beast of Zan and we also had a really good breakfast with yogurt So So this climb has had some really steep sections but it’s been pretty much in the shade which is lovely and in this forest and we saw some of the alra cattle hopefully we’re done with the climb of today as we descend to doand Savage for Lunch So that’s a famous place to stop for lunch or just to stay the night it was full when we did our bookings and you know would have been cool to stay in the really historical building it is in the middle of nowhere and we have so much

Food with us we don’t need to buy anything at their grocery they’ve got a lot of options if you need to eat hardboiled egg and butter sandwich Cuisine the cuisine in Cuisine do a brock it’s a it’s a so we had a nice little picnic uh really close to this Chapel of

St Rock St Ro depending which language you want to say his name in it’s closed so we can’t go in but you kind of peek through the window got about I think 10 more kilometers to go today and uh sun’s coming out and strong heat so it’s hot now getting There oh [Laughter] very [Laughter] Nice at a hot spot on my toe kind of thought it was on and off all day I was thinking I felt it but this last bit of downhill I was like w that’s definitely getting like a sharp Hot Spot pain so stop what you’re doing

Even if you don’t want to stop stop and put some Lamb’s wool on it or something so you don’t get a blister prevention Always in town we’re going to go get something cold to drink cuz we are pretty early to the Je we got in at like 3:15 p.m. which is real nice good change of pace that we could have time to do laundry and just get some stuff done we want to get [Laughter] [Laughter] done into the Sunset I hate everything about this he is the best My French is so bad so please pardon my French we left we’re going to montal is where we’re going downhill too

    1. Thanks for mentioning the daily distance! Do you generally walk about 5km an hour (not hills)? Also Lainy has a hood instead of a hat. Do you find that is better/cooler?

    2. I didn't think it would be possible, but Lainey seems to have even more energy than Renee off the Renee and Tim thru-hikers channel. If you could bottle that, you'd make a fortune.

    3. You guys are fucking crazy to go again lol. Good luck with the plastic bags and unsolicited medical advice about blisters … half joking. Enjoy those cheap coffees and cheap cheese x

    4. I will be going on this beautiful Chemin in April 24 however I am a coffee fanatic and worried about lack of daily caffeine🤣 , I am so obsessed with this part of France because it is so beautiful. Bien Chemin guys ❤

    5. Great job at capturing the Gr65!
Hiked it last year in October and it's nice to see it in a different season. It was pretty quiet in autumn.
As a French person, I was wondering if you struggled with the communication with other pilgrims since it's way less international than the Francés?

    6. Thanks for the vid. I did the Portuguese camino this year and looking for another challenge next year. How did you book the accommodation and was the signposting ok ? Thanks again.

    7. So crazy to watch these knowing we randomly met along the way! Beautiful video, gorgeous scenery, fun attitude. Also, it's very informative! You two are amazing! Congrats on another Camino completed! 👏

    8. Your capture is stunning. My sister and I who are in our 60s, walked this route August 2022. We stayed at the same place in Le Puy, I loved it there. The first two weeks of the walk are to beautiful. We could only walk less then 20 km per day. Keep inspiring.

    9. Moi même sourd profond, je suis intéressé par le logo de l'oreille barrée sur le sac à dos qu'on aperçoit au tout début de la vidéo. Un lien ? I'm profoundly deaf myself, and I'm interested in the crossed ear logo on the backpack that we see at the very beginning of the video.

    10. I wonder if you really need the poles? Seems like you're just carrying them, not really getting any extra power from them. But you've done a ton of walks, so I guess you think they're worth it. I use them on steep trails, but tend to stow them for flat walking.
