Heavy rains cause chaos in Qatar..!! Doha city is under flood

    On the Arabian Peninsula, a region known for its scorching heat and vast deserts, the unexpected has happened. Qatar’s capital Doha and parts of the United Arab Emirates experienced major flooding, a rare occurrence in this arid region, causing major disruption and prompting authorities to take action. This sudden weather anomaly, was caused by the indirect impact of Tropical Cyclone Tej, which recently hit Oman.

    Heavy rains in the city of Doha, caused water to overflow on main routes such as Salwa Road, Sabah Al-Ahmad Corridor and February 22 Road. The flood that submerged the road looked like a river, several vehicles were stranded in the middle of the flooding. Unexpected heavy rains caused traffic jams, prompting authorities to work hard to regulate traffic flow, and address water-related problems.

    In the UAE, especially Abu Dhabi and Dubai, was hit by thunderstorms and heavy rain. The National Meteorological Center recorded heavy rain in Saih Al Salam, Ghantoot, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali Harbor in Dubai. The UAE government is implementing remote working and distance learning, in both the public and private sectors.

In light of the unusual weather conditions,  authorities in Qatar and the UAE issued safety   warnings for motorists. Drivers are advised  to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary.  

    In Abu Dhabi, drivers are also advised  to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy,   maintain a safe distance, avoid puddles of water,   and follow warnings on electronic information  boards, and the Abu Dhabi Police app.
