I flew SAS airline from Newark airport to Vilnius by checking my Strida bike as baggage. It was free of charge because I didn’t have any other luggage to check in, only a carry-on backpack and a camera bag. When checking in, just tell the person that you called the airline and they told you that a small folding bike without other luggage to check in is free of charge. In the Summer of 2010 I flew Air Berlin from JFK airport in New York, and they didn’t charge me either for my checking-in my Strida to fly to Berlin. On the way back, however the Air Berlin airline insisted on charging me about 65 Euros to check-in my Strida to fly back to NYC. So, be aware of Air Berlin when returning back to the US with your Strida bike.
