But, This go down… Crazy sh*t… Each morning is the same story. Didn’t find place to camp So I am continue walking. Best app for showing a road. Are you ready for an adventure? Join me as I take on a challenge like no other – crossing all of Switzerland by bike.
That’s right, no fancy cars or comfortable planes, just me, my bike, and the open road. As a budget traveler, I’ll also be showing you how to explore Switzerland without breaking the bank. Trust me, the experiences I had on this journey are the ones you can’t get on a luxury trip.
So let’s cut to the chase and get started on this epic journey from Munich to Milan via Switzerland. First things first, I had to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime trip. At least it seemed that way. As a seasoned traveler, I thought I had seen it all, but traveling with a bike and tent
Was a whole new level of adventure. I had to fix everything on my bike, buy essential gear like sections for my bags, a tent, and camping equipment. But the real adventure began when I had to figure out how to get to Munich.
Without a direct bus, I had to opt for a budget option – Flixbus. Little did I know, this would be one of the most uncomfortable ways to travel. I had to put my bike on bike constructions behind the bus or in the baggage compartment – depending on the bus driver’s mood.
The buses were crowded, and the smell was unbearable. Well… I had to reach my destination somehow. Finally, after 28 hours of traveling and many unplanned bus changes, I made it to Munich. That”s how looks my camping place. Where I’m sleeping.
After spending my first night in a lovely bed-tent dormitory where I got to sleep for only 15 euros a night. By the way, it’s a great deal during the tourist season. That’s how gonna look my sleeping place for tonight. Crazy sh*t. Right? Welcome to Munich.
Then… I spent the next day exploring Munich to experience the city’s inner vibes. And then, the following day, my journey began. So Folks… I in Munich. Behind me you can see a Marienplatz. Riding to Switzerland. And for Switzerland, for the summer I decide travel by bike.
To be honest to you – I even don’t know what to expect from it. So much people right here. And yee… stay with me on this journey. And let’s see… Is it possible travel around Switzerland. And now let’s go.
Having lived in Munich for a year as a student,I thought the only beautiful area in Bavaria was the south, where the Alps are. But I was wrong. On my journey, I discovered many picturesque towns and breathtaking landscapes. As a result, I managed to cover 120 km on my first day.
It was time to rest and set up my tent for the night. Here’s a time-lapse of me setting up my tent and preparing to sleep, ready for the next This is how gonna look my hostel for tonight. Just wake up and I slept wherry well feel bit pain in my legs
But its ok, it’s not so painful. Survivable. Fresh air and moving objects in the forest Makes more funny and interesting my stay here. I have today make another 100km, to Konstanz. 133km. If to be more clear. And find place where I can take a shower.
The more to the south I was, the more grape plantations were around me. And then, I found out that Bavaria is a significant exporter of white wine in Germany. Sadly, I am not as much of a fan of alcohol as I used to be.
This video is not about my drinking achievements, only cycling and exploring. Sorry. So, after a full day of cycling, I finally made it. Konstanz, here I am. Wow. What a view. Next generation mobility. Now! Ouu.. and this is my camping place. This time a legal one. My generation mobility. yehee…
Let us enjoy the view and let us go to sleep. Switzerland is waiting. “Ecological transport” You can travel to Konstanz in two ways: by land, traveling around the lake, and the other one is by ferry. Can you guess which one I chose? Of course, the faster way to get there is by ferry!
Now I am going to city of Konstanz. From mane land of Germany. To part of the land in Switzerland side. it will be my last stop of Germany. And then And then Switzerland is waiting. As I boarded the boat with my bike, I was struck by the stunning beauty of the lake.
The water is so blue and the landscape is simply gorgeous. It’s an experience that should not be missed! After about 30 minutes, I finally arrived at Konstanz. But before we head to Switzerland, I need to buy something. Let’s go check it out! Need by some stuff. Already bought a bananas. Some peanuts, juices,
And power bar. Some corn, and other stuff. Because prices in Switzerland is not a secret giant one. Switzerland is famous for its stunning natural beauty, but it’s also known for its high prices. So, I decided to be a good guest and bring something with me, just like we do in Lithuania
When we visit friends or relatives. – ok, how it looks like. in my frontal package is a mane camera peanuts when I cycling, it is really comfortable to get a food extra one. Here is a power bank, drone and other devices. The GoPro. And here is the mane storage. The food,
The sleeping bag, some power bars, and soon I will pack it all. All right, everything is packed. This is kind of insurance for me. Two bottles of water here. One there. One extra inside. And here is gopro, and here I put my phone, like a navigator. – This part is a Germany
– wish me luck in this fantastic country. I cross the borders with Switzerland, with my bike. And now we are in one of the most expensive countries in the world. And one of the most beautiful. And yee… lets go… lets have fun! One another think which is important to know in Switzerland,
If you gonna come and ride a bike it is a haven for bike riders. As I cross the border, I am immediately struck by the incredible bike infrastructure that Switzerland has to offer. The paths are easy to navigate, and the signs are plentiful, making it easy for me to find my way.
So what I have today for a lunch. Fish with tomato souse, some vegetables, peanuts. And lovely sound of “schwitz” cows. As I make my way through the towns and countryside, I can’t help but feel like I’m in a fairytale. The architecture is stunning, and each town has its own unique charm.
If you gonna cross the borders of Switzerland, and right directly you expect to see huge mountains. I have a bad news for you the mountains they are somewhere there… but… it is still beautiful! Well, just for the record: the north is quite flat – while the south is where the Alps are.
So mates, please do not expect mountains everywhere in Switzerland. Ouu… do you remember talks about prices. So they already cought me when I crossed the country without buying anything. After some time of cycling I noticed that my navigation stopped working correctly.
Then I found out that I used all my internet limits which my phone operator provides me. My navigator with Instagram stories and sharing photos with relatives cost me 120 euros! This is why I had to stop in Vitudurum for the sim card.
Switzerland is not in European union – in any kind, there are different tariffs that can pile up and be very costly. I recommend you check all these details before you cross the border. The first problem I faced was that it was Sunday, and only few shops were open.
I had to search for free wifi first, and lucky for me, I found one nearby – the only available sim card shop that was closing in 25 minutes. Wait… What? So yee… I made a mistake and bought a sim card from a “budget” company, which wasn’t budget-friendly for me.
The card cost me 20 euros plus another 20 euros for the internet. I reached the limit in just a couple of hours so I had to top up another amount of money for sim credits after using social media, buying train tickets, and using navigation.
Later that night, I found myself in the middle of nowhere without the internet. When I arrived in Basel, I did some more research on good SIM card internet options and found “SwissCom”. For only 16 euros, I got unlimited calls in all countries and 20 GB of internet for the next month.
If I only use social media via wifi in cafes, it’s more than enough for navigation. ok, now, let’s get back to the road trip. Ok Storm is coming. It is late evening and I preparing my self for the night. It is my tent. Gonna put raincoat on it, just in case.
For diner we have what? – muesli For the record muesli was invented by “schwitz” -> Swiss dr. and tasty chocolate milk. Suddenly, I hear scratching noises. I hope it’s just a small animal. I went to check out, but nothing was here. Only someone or something is scratching in the bushes.
Ok, let’s go to sleep. what the hell, it’s still scratching… This is ridiculous. I can’t sleep with all this noise. But I have no other option for now omg, what time is it now… Omg… What time is now? It’s 4 am, and I haven’t slept a wink.
I need to get out of here. I had to pack my tent. Because all night long something in fores is shaking and moving. Now is almost 5 am Or something. Dam, so annoying – I couldn’t sleep, because all night, all dam hell night something is moving there… And I made some weird sounds to scare it but its don’t move anywhere… ok, pack it, and let’s go. The Switzerland met me perfectly, I mean… yesterday cycling at the beginning was ok
Later I went in to the town, also ok and Zurich, look at this warm and welcoming beautifully raining authentic vibe of Zurich yes, yes After 4h I have a train to Basel. There is hostel waiting for me. I gonna take a shower. And nap a little bit and and we will see.
Yeah, beautiful Zurich. Zurich One of the richest cities in Europe and with low tax rates, perfect place to start a business. And guess where I am saving money in Switzerland? yep. MacDonald… 5 eur burger Though times. It’s no surprise that Zurich is home to some of the major financial hubs in the world,
Hosts the Swiss Stock Exchange and is a leading global location for the trading of gold. Zurich is also one of the Happiest Cities in the World, with a population of 435,000. The metropolitan population is around 1.8 million. Several surveys have been conducted finding that Zurich is the best city in the world
In terms of quality of life. Ok. Let’s dive in – I will show you what I had explored here. Swiss is famous for many things. And yee… I am repeating myself already I know… but… come on… it is not my fault that Switzerland is famous for so many things. Anyway… ok folks
Let me tell you what Switzerland is famous is is trains. With an extensive network of railways, it’s easy to get anywhere you want in the country. Even the most extreme Alp corners are accessible! Train to Basel – cost me 16.50 Swiss francs – which is more or less 17 eur.
Train moved. And the conductor dude told this train is to Basel but this train moved *earlier then it should. I had to take a train 12:59. And this train moved 12:3… something And I afraid that it is a wrong train. But conductor dude told its ok. Hope all will be alright.
Because my ticket for another time. And yee… I found out later that for the bike I have to buy a separate ticket. Ups, good that no ticket control checked me. And if you want to, you can get a monthly ticket for all Swiss trains for 340 CHF – similar price in euros.
So, yee, we are in Basel, let’s see what it has to show. I’m staying at a hostel in Basel. After checking in, showering and dropping off my things, I’m ready to explore. – ok while I gonna explore Basel I gonna put it all my devices to charge. – So
Lats talk about benefits of traveling by yourself. One of it is I guess No one rush you. You can do what ever you want. You can put tent where ever you want. If there happen some unexpected sh*t no gonna scream on you and yeah that is basically lovely think of traveling. Amazing!
I love my life! I love traveling. Basel is the third-largest city in Switzerland, with a population of around 171,000. It’s well known for its chemical and pharmaceutical industries, but there’s much more to discover here. Vegan burger, normal burger, and the view. Basel joined the Swiss Confederacy in 1501.
I will talk more in my next video about the Swiss Helvetic Confederation but now, let’s go and explore the city. So… Basel. it ok. Another, beautiful repeatable European city. It is interesting to see mixture of landscape. Skyscrapers and middle age architecture buildings. And they feed with each other very well. Urban architects done
They homework well. I don’t have any words to express. Maybe because it’s really hot today. It’s very exhausting walk around and explore. Maybe there is some difference with Zurich but not a lot. What makes Basel different then other “Schwitz” cities. By me. I think. When I’m walking around here I just noticed that
That when there is some instructions it is in Italian, German, French and English. Such a international city. ok guys, I’m going to sleep, as I need to rest before real adventures are coming. In the next video, I’ll take you through the breathtaking alps, trains again, prices and of course adventures.
