This week Jonny is joined by Gary Dymant and Jake Sanders (a late call-up for the other Jake) to discuss the draw at Man Utd, 3-2 wins for the other Spurs teams and Gary’s Love Island water bottle. They’re also joined by Nima Tavallaey from the @ItaFootPod chat about Spurs’ Italian connections. Up the Spurs!

On today’s episode of an echo of Glory we make a lake substitution taking out Jake and bringing in Jake we talk about the draw Old Trafford and have a look at our Italian connection with Italian football expert Nema tavali welcome to another episode of an echo of Glory joining me Gary Diamond

Good afternoon and I’m Jake really thank you a late substitution we had the other Jake uh drop out today because he’s doing some news thing for some Channel I don’t know but we’ve we’ve you know gone into the squad and we pulled Jake out and thanks for coming a lot of skip for

K come but like a late it’s ver hill come on it’s ver you take you take the mick out of him now what’s that love Island bottle I’ve had start love Island bottle yeah I mean it’s a it was a work trip and and they got and looks like it says

Granny it’s right there was um there was one guy called called Curtis and and it didn’t look like Curtis yeah so just think about that because otherwise it’ll ruin our algorithm if you say it um anyway Jake thank you uh thank you for joining us

Pleas a be yeah sorry it was Kurt not Curt Kurt didn’t look like Kurt there’s the r you can see it and so you can imagine what the uh what the r look like on Kurt right and for that you went to the game on Sunday

Didn’t you you went to a football match I was stung by criticism from you last week and I thought I need to uh need to get my act together yeah um so yeah I managed to grab myself a ticket went up there with a mate got in the car drive

Up lovely Journey we done it in three hours went to a really nice Pub uh called the quadrant just under a mile away from old traffic and a way Pub yeah was a home in a way Pub yeah uh really nice Pub had some food in there decent l

Um walked to the ground great away day um performance I thought was very very good but we’re come on to talk about yeah where were you all right let’s move on I was running my son’s under eight football team no no if you’re can dig me

Out for the FA Cup one I’ll dig you out under N I don’t know um Club news can you tell me what the men’s team ruined this weekend every team winning 3-2 every team winning 3-2 I think look it’s a good result to all at Man United but had

They won 3-2 when did that last happen stats man all all four teams won by the same score line Never Never Happened reckon it has check it check it and come back to me so the women’s team were two no down to sheffeld United in the FA Cup

Sheffield United lower rungs of the championship when there would have been a bit of a shot there yeah they had Spurs missed a few players Kel sui uh Martha Thomas didn’t play Grace Clinton didn’t play probably two of their best performance this performance this season two-nil down and then Beth England

Turned up scored twice one penalty and then Ayan scored right at the end uh 96th minute Spurs are through home to Charon uh would that been a replay no extra time penalties Chelsea beat West Ham on an extra time oh fine yeah so Arsenal got City in the next round so

Yeah so bit opens up a little bit doubles on yeah yeah Chelsea draw home to Pal got drawn it home to Palace so they’ll win that but Spurs should get themselves into into the next round so that was good the under 21s beat s Anton

3-2 you see will Lan she’s winner no I haven’t seen it off his face and they all count they will count yeah and then the don’t stop winning yeah don’t stop 100% yeah was it 12 now 11 yeah I should have looked at this before but I didn’t a lot Gary’s goingon

To look it up thanks you and then um the 18s won 3-2 against Villa so they’re still top of the league not as um and Mikey Mo make his comeback in that game I believe lovely assist for for the winning goal Brant injur injured quite a

While I wouldn’t call it Oscar Bob feet but similar sh really nice so so wins for all of those and then and then a draw obviously for the men’s team but just before we come to Sunday other bits of Club news we we recorded before Eric Dy left last

Week he’s gone it’s kind of like all the things we’ve talked about for months and months and months are happening get rid of the Deadwood don’t bring in Don back well this sign some players this is wonderful Wednesday last week wasn’t it um a recap of this most stunning day

Because we went to bed on Tuesday night fearing the deal was done that Bayern Munich had hijacked Jian and I couldn’t really understand I I was feeling negative because my view on it was they must be making an offer at this late stage if they’ve been given the green

Light from the agent and the player there’s no reason they would enter at that late stage to get mugged off right as much as we love Tottenham we you would expect a player to choose Bay over Tottenham it’s not that I necessarily I’d expect a player because Spurs are in

The Premier League we’re flying we’ve got Andrew in a good place and I felt that the move was better for his career as I looked at it analytically and that’s ultimately what he’s done as well but I couldn’t work out why Bon would put themselves in a position to be

Mugged off at that late stage if they hadn’t been given some serious assurances from player and agent that looks even worse for them that’s the point that’s the point if they’ to come in right at the beginning and it been then fine but to come at that late stage

Be thinking to yourself yeah it’s done right so I feel like number one fantastic to see B get mugged off great to see dragushan make the move for the right reasons and principled reasons and for all the agent has been chatting actually his parents have spoken very

Well about his motivations for the move his agents already sold him to Madrid so so we wake up so we wake up on Wednesday morning drusian chooses Us buinger in the mud what also means now this is critical as well about this right because if dragushan goes to buay D does

Not and Spence probably does not go to Gena so the knock on effects and and then the knock on effect from that as well is that we’re back to square one looking for a center back with teams knowing that we’re desperate and holding us to Absolute Ransom it was such a

Massive moment I think draan choosing us so that was G dr’s done more for transfers than than some of our previous sporting directors doesn’t he yeah all the moving Parts later later on that Wednesday Spence goes to genua and dble reports start coming out from Galatasaray that he played 90 minutes

That’s a miracle exactly I was going to say that’s not really believable and also apparently played well and they’re now staying well he’s going to stay for the rest of the season absolute touch bonus also emerged on Wednesday that regon looks set to go to brenford hasn’t

Quite happened yet but that looks like it’s going to Happ it’s going to go anyway he only paid an hour um and Dom only you know what he said it must have felt like 90 minutes he played Just but either way he he’s staying there and and

And and look Wednesday was just a one day and then oh yeah then the news broke that Romero was back in training back Madison’s back so yeah Wednesday was just a real Feelgood go feel good day but um was it better than Super Saturday at the Olympics in

2012 I couldn’t say I have no interest just on D yeah let’s go I feel like um I know people have got their opinions on him but I feel like we I don’t know how people feel about saying goodbye to players but all of these sort of great

Players from this poch era they all just sort of leave you know what I mean this Larice no one got a chance to say goodbye to Kane I know it was a bit weird Toby Toby was in or yam was in Co and yeah Larice did but a lot of them

Have just sort of gone D I mean I guess a lot of them leave when they’re sort of a bit out of the team apart from Kane a lot of them have you know Ericson was very sour that first half of the Season then he just suddenly left and he didn’t

Really look up for it Toby left in covid was it I think that’s just the natural cycle of footballers it’s just that we that we feel more of an attachment because and I’m sure some fans will go oh you know I saw something on Twitter the other day someone saying you know we

Should get them all back for Hugo’s testimonial bring the band back and someone was like yeah but we won nothing but it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate a really brilliant era of players attachment to those players and that’s why you’re saying this ultimately because ordinarily you know players come

And go we accept that but we had a real attachment to all these but in in a way I think it’s good that we’ve got we’ve that that’s it now the only players left are sort of SNY and and Ben Davis we’ve got rid of that attachment from we’ve

Moved on now it’s good it had to be and on dire look I’ve been critical of D on on on this show but only critical in the sense of he’s not suited to where we are at the moment and we need to move on

From him as a guy as a person and what he’s done for the club nothing but respect he was one of the first players that came out two million yeah exactly I think we’ made I think we made the money back in selling him years on right but

It’s not just about the finances you know he’s one of the first players that stood up and said I don’t like what I hear about Tottenham it was that man city at home interview Wen it when we hit 41 I think right and he was the you

I don’t like I don’t like what I hear about Tottenham and he was there and he fought for us and he wore his heart on his sleeve and he always he always tried he always turned up he was very uh the phrase gets it you know when fans say

Gets it wish him every Su you felt like d really understood what you know North Lon der’s meant top chelse and he really understood 100% remember him scoring against Arsenal and giving it to them like yeah look I wish him every single success I hope he goes on and has a

Wonderful career life after this um I thought it was a great great deal for Tottenham a fantastic move for Eric D I mean to go to Bayern Munich and link up again with Harry Kane fantastic move works out really well all around just to answer that the 21’s 10 wins out of 10

In the league 10 yeah 10 out of w that’s incredible um another bit of Club news and we’re going to talk to an Italian football expert later about a number of Spurs Italian connections but J Mourinho the cycle is complete 150 OD games at Roma gone you wanted to you were delighted we

Were going to slag off J I just I just feel a bit overly bitter still I was happy when they lost the Europa League final I don’t know I’ve just got some bit of bitterness left in did you have that even before he came to Spurs I

Liked him in his first spell at Chelsea which is a bit of a weird thing to say because he was winning you know titles for fun but he’s just became when he returned and you know he just became he’s just become more bitter every year

And I I I was intrigued when we signed him but then you know this whole thing where he mentioned Spurs that being sack before a cup final every time I saw someone saying today when’s the you know when he gets a a new job when’s the Tottenham Bingo because he mentions

Us you know he mentions us all the time he’s got documentary coming out I’m sure speak about as plenty in that he’s definitely bitter about the way it ended at Tottenham and you could have a Little Bit of Sympathy with that because we were a week away from the Cup Final

Although I personally felt it was the right decision at the time but my feeling for Mourinho is incomparable to my feeling for Conte um Mourinho definitely wanted to be here for from day one yeah definitely wanted to try and do his best for the club stood up

For the club it didn’t work out it was a very unique time that he do you think if we’d been in the stadium you’d still feel that way I think it would have been worse worse I agree he would have been sacked ear don’t know it can go either

Way right W with him if you start buying into okay this is the way we’re going to play but actually we are winning one nil and we are looking very Resolute and rigid and we’re not giving up chances and you know the team is really digging

In and fighting and being a Ty Jose team then he builds that sort of United closed wo feeling around the club it’s US versus the world the way plays if the results don’t work like Roma he would been on time and it goes the other way

But when it does work and you are on board as long as that train is rolling actually the team might have retained momentum for a little bit longer than it did it’s impossible to say which way it would have gone but but certainly he was here through a very very unique period

But I have nothing compared to the feelings for conest that I have who who I can’t even bring myself to say the guy’s name marinho wanted to be here I I think he wanted to do his you know what I mean he wanted to do the best for the club and

And and I get why he’s bitter at why he was sacked but it was the right decision okay anything else on Club news to report I don’t think so key had a Blinder oh yeah Josh key at Bonet that was a weird one so you were saying you

Wouldn’t get a game I did say he wouldn’t get a game and their other goalkeeper Lori Walker had kept three clean sheets in a row for Bing team that have been struggling a little bit started the season really well he kept his place kept three clean sheets in a

Row and then they dropped him for Josh key who hasn’t kept a clean sheet since but I’m not criticizing key for that I just thought it was an odd decision as the goalkeeper to be dropped after three clean sheets in a row bizarre anyway but

Yeah no good point to add that to the club news have I missed anything else don’t think so no right Sunday so they’ve been talking the week we were worried about other injuries it turned out it was LEL so was injured and we knew that Davies was definitely out

And then sat Friday night it was reports that kisi had got a knock and then someone said he was ill and someone said oh he’s got his wife’s pregnant he had to leave training there’s all these rumors but you start to wonder right here we goes

Kulesi and then I think there was that video of them all turning up and Kula was there oh really oh fine maybe he wasn’t there but anyway there was talk of kulesi not playing well we found out Romero was was playing at that point yeah and and on the plus side we heard

That Romero had been training and there pictures of r vanen and drusian all in in training together so at that point I think you said off as well Jake the moment you saw Romero training and well it got reported on Wednesday that he he wanted to play and you just think when

Romero wants to play he’s he’s probably going to play and and you said he wasn’t going to play and I think that was the flag for he is going to play You’ve Got a Theory I do have a little bit of a theory we’ve that Chelsea game we never

Blew up so the whole club the air went out of the Season almost at that point we had the Wolves game and the villa and the the West Ham the air went out a little bit and we still got a few more injuries Benton Co gets injured against

Villa and we’re told he out till February the Blake rocks up on who did he play against Bournemouth 31st New Year Eve rocks up six weeks early but we’ve seen already that an is saying that he shouldn’t be playing right now no I’m not sure he wouldn’t pick him he

Wouldn’t pick him and then Romero gets injured against Everton he’s out so that’s mid mid December or 23rd of December he’s out to the end of J he rocks up three two three weeks early just my theory is an is bringing his back he knows when his players are

Coming back and he’s saying oh they’re out they’re out and they come back just to lift everyone a little bit it does give it the players though particular players give but also I know the United game was away and there was probably three that but the Bourn withth game at

Home the the whole place lifted I I didn’t go but I know people were fearing when I saw ble stting I was so confident because of one player genely I was like I don’t see us not winning before kickoff Paul kite Rodrigo Bon and Ben

Has given it all that okay but I think as well if he says Bon C is back for Bournemouth it puts pressure on Bon C to be back I agree whereas if he says you know two or three weeks Beyond he’s taking that pressure off the player a

Little bit as well I also think as well that manag because because uh journalists essentially had accepted that he was out till February no one was asking him whereas at the moment every week it’s when’s Madison back when’s Madison back you know when was vaner V back whereas you know everyone had just

Similar to Romero no was going into Sunday going you know is Romero going to be back CU because we all thought brenford may be which is two and a half weeks later so I think that may be help because no one mentioned it agree but anyway so he didn’t really have much

Choice on Sunday with the team that was picked Vicario porro Romero vaner and ude great to have the back five back the old band back together skip Bon K hyberg and then Johnson Richard and Veron so basically he did play a 4-33 in effect um the subs bench was I Gary you might

Be named on the bench we only named we we one short on the bench two goalkeepers Keepers it was literally anyone yeah it was it yeah it really was um it’s a shame because we were on the P last week and I I I gave the starting 11

Minus Romero Royal and I said look if there are no further injuries or anything like that this team goes to Old Trafford and wins okay we were sort of net minus one from the team that I mentioned if you put Romero in but you’ve taken out kosi and lell so I’m

Not downplaying the importance of Romero but in a game where I didn’t think United were going to come at us too much really um youu is that what you’re saying I would swap I would have had if I could have chosen what i’ would rather I would have had Royale with Lelo

And Koski in than take out LEL could played as well yeah exactly Romero was slightly more Expendable in that game so the point that I’m making is when I saw the team and you see that kosi is out and you know the is already out and you

See Hy Bergen skip like we were in the pub and I saw Hy Bergen Skip and I was like I still expecting at that point kosovski would would make it and the air kind of went out of me in the pub I was like oh I’ve come all this bloody way

And kulki isn’t even going to play yeah um and I wasn’t feeling too positive how were you feeling after three minutes when hland banged that one in yeah a bit disappointed Here We Go Again old yeah it it it was a bit disappointing we gave ourselves a bit of a mountain to climb

It’s typical as well because I don’t think hland scored a League goal up until that point Tak three minutes against us you know against a defense with the returning back five as we mentioned and one thing we would hope to have been when you lose your forward we looked a bit all over

Place with the go I wasn’t overly worried when when you go whenever we go one n down at you know an Arsenal City a Liverpool even a Chelsea you know you think oh one n down we could be we could be two three down after 20 minutes my

Mindset was like is if we’d gone one n down at like a fullam morea palace no disrespect I know it’s United but I wasn’t and and I’m pessimistic I wasn’t overly worried but but is that the as well because we’ve discussed on this show we’ve discussed on the show I think

With yourself and certainly the other Jake I’m not worried if we go one n down on we’re going to keep playing but more of a point of I didn’t see United blowing us away but I agree we we’ve come back you know quite we’ve come back loads this season you know the brenford

Burnley Arsenal loads of times we’ve come from behind Sheffield United Man City little stat for you 25th time we’ve gone 25th time we’ve gone one nil down at Old Trafford which is the most of any at any ground in premier league history well I was reading after as well that

When United are leading at half time they bought the stup they bought the stup I think it’s 1980s they they’ not lost well it’s not in the it’s either 303 or 309 I think that was the most under phras it’s ever unbelievable record I mean that really is that that’s

You know taking 50 and going on to convert it to a ton isn’t it that that you know cricketing terms well I think they’ve only ever lost six times Old Trafford when leading at any point Prem but yeah someone did say that and when we made it two we thought oh this record

M two you know 58 seconds into the second half I’m thinking to myself we got B to be honest with you when when richardon scored I’m like right okay now we go that was a horrible time to concede that second goal Wen it for us

You just feel like I know we sort of did go in said we might as well have gone in at you know two because we scored so early but that was just a bit of a killer you think if we if we went two

One up in that game we W I think if we at any point if we’d gone up but this is my point I think if we had kulesi or Madison or Lelo or a basuma yeah you know I I just think that or son yeah exctly you know I just think we would

Have this game was two weeks too early for us and I everyone felt it was what we were one player short we were one of those maybe without one of those five great players missing and you players returning but the only one really was casir and Luke Shaw that they were

Missing they’re the only two players that were really missing martinz he came on yeah he came on but when you think think about us as well you know you’ve got vanen can he do 90 Romero can he do 90 verer can he do 90 you know there was

So much Jeopardy throughout the team even with the players that we were able to put onto the pitch and then you hear that there had been viruses in the squad OD skip himself apparently had it as well a doy yeah so so the players were really pushing them themselves through

We had nothing to come off the bench sorryy I no disrespect we had nothing to come off the bench it could have been so different if that virus had hit and B to call Romero hadn’t have been back and we could have been you know and we sign two

Players we could have been having you know youngsters St in this game what did let’s talk about one of the debutant what did you make of verner’s performance I thought it was promising mixed you got a right we were talking about this offir I felt like it was

Promising and a lot to work with but a lot of which didn’t surprise me but a lot of what we saw he’s movement is brilliant he’s got ridiculous Pace yeah but he there was that there was that horrible finish where it went miles into the stretford end but there was that one

Chance where skit played a gorgeous gorgeous you know pass through and you never felt like he was going to score and it was just quite erratic you know you got a really I reckon if you showed an alien to that what does t of how does

He play you showed him that and that would be the way it was that like you know you’ve got a really eraone United keeper test him and it was like that really horrible drag shot which you know that could have happened to anyone that could have happened to richison or some

But the way it happened it was just like I was never confident I think we got to I’m not complaining I feel like but people have been I reckon Jos had already written their pieces I saw one in the guardian on Monday that’s that’s verer just didn’t didn’t impress sorry I

I wrote one and it was mixed I said it was you know it was a lot of what we’ve seen But promising and as we said off air he’s not going to play with that Midfield to we’ve got five creative players to come back in if he’s playing

Alongside you know your son’s you know Madison’s kulus I thought I thought it was promising look straight away I’d rather he started than brown Hill he’s got the pace he can hurt a team and whether he does something or nothing he um he’s always going to give a team

Something to think about right you can’t just leave him he also came out and said I think post the game that he understands what role is in the team it’s not necessarily to be a goal scorer it is more to create and lay on assists and take players away and that’s exactly

What he did is he top quality no we know this is he much better as an understudied son than anything else we’ve got yes absolutely there it’s just for Bon C’s go it was nice like it was you might look at it and go simple path

No he had to he waited he took a little step waited for Benton C who made a great run B looked around him and went God there’s no one here made a great run into the box and a Lov goal by the way from Romero into into SK there’s I’ve

Watched one of those man united fan Vlogs and one of them is in the stretford end really high awful seat but what I noticed when we equalized is Vicario and Van Deen both run to Romero and I think Skip does as well someone else does four players out the game one

What a pass which is why when you’re saying I’d have traded ROM exactly what I was thinking I’m not sure play I get the point but but I think I think with keski and so we would we had a lot of possession we had a lot of territory I don’t think

We did enough yeah third yeah and I don’t think we created enough I don’t think we looked incisive enough we controlled the game I don’t think we were ever panicked or under the C but with them two playing I think we’ have hurt United a lot more than we did

Brilliant pass and that’s why vanen and and uh Vicario both ran straight to Romero because he took out the entire United Team by the way how could was it C the ven back oh he’s brilliant both of them oh God he did that one tackle on garnacho where you thought garnacho had

A half a yard in him he just you know SW SW it across brilliant he’s so quick just brilliant so quick just hope that hamstring doesn’t blow up again about thought he did what about Bon I’m not going to name any names here in one of my WhatsApp groups yesterday a friend

Said to me if SAR and basuma are fit every game Bon C is a 20 30 minute game player absolute nonsense no not having that not you know what our best player I I had a conversation with my friend two days ago and I said there’s an argument

For bacor being our most our best player po love love love he is our best CM yeah as in in the two not Madison but it’s him and you take your pick yeah you either play basuma and Bon cor or you play Bon cor and S and also he’s I

Reckon is is he’s a goal scorer now bore he did it before his injury I reckon he could get you know 10 goals six goals last season I think and then he got injured in feu yeah the guy is he I couldn’t disagree more with that I

Phenomen this is this is this is a statement and I got shouted down for this on a different group if we sold Bon CER I would be more upset than when we sold Harry Kane it’s different though because you I feel I have this real emotional bond I I have this thing for

Boner I don’t know what it is right but but you knew you kind of knew Kane was leaving we’d had Kane for the best part I’m not we never going not but I just feel he he he’s um I feel like he’s got that connection with the fans and it’s

Grown during his injury yeah like ABS massively massively absence makes the heart but but it’s more I mean I think we appreciated him massively as a player no no no no I agree I agree gotj up when he got injured we all knew it we all knew it would as soon as he

Got injured against Leicester we all went well remember you I remember a tweet you did that said BAC call done that’s it we done do speak sense like every now and then once a year so the question the the thing is now taking it forward him and him and Madison I mean

That is they’ve not played a minute together that that is I mean for Me basuma Bon cor and Madison I love play them in it no Madison was out before it was end of November I love s but but I just feel like Benson core in the eight

Pumer in the six and Madison in the 10 well it never works out like that but the exciting thing is it’s options isn’t it yeah it’s exciting options isn’t it massively little word on Lelo because he’s one of them Squad players like stay or go at the end of the season

Definitely got the quality to be in the squad 100% never going to happen is but he’s unreliable and at this point I hate to say it but come the summer is on my Hit List to go because it really felt like this January with you know sasum

Out Co who we thought was going to be out mad away it was like this is Lela we really really need him yeah and he got injured straight and it’s not his fault nobody’s saying that you can’t have you can’t have a player that that’s unreliable he’s a good player I like him

But his injury this week just killed me because we really really as J could have made a difference massive him who’s probably the you know the worst out of I’m sorry if he plays I think we win like you know and and so that was the F

That was straw that broke the camels back for me now really good what was his last game he was really good um at home to bouth bouth he played that lovely pass to son and he I think he set the first car yeah he made the tackle didn’t

Play well against Burnley came off yeah well even he might have been injured no nobody played well against yeah they didn’t different talking of not playing well United poor we talked to I about what are they I don’t know what they are no nobody’s any clearer after that no I

Think they made that point on sky as well when I watched back um I think they were saying like you know you just you just couldn’t see identity what what what they were trying to do they were trying to sit deep they were trying to hit rashford which we all knew they

Would do that was literally all they had try and get it into rashford it makes you confident in terms of league position we should we shouldn’t really be finishing below fifth Newcastle are done that Newcastle are too far behind us and that’re they’re done Chelsea they’re getting a

Little bit close but I still they’ve won four out of five but she United Luton well they’ve got the I know they’ve got this horrible run we we shouldn’t finish below fifth which should hopefully get us in the Champions League all going well I think we finished top four I’m

Not I think vill of for in aren’t they yeah I think I think but but you know when it comes to United and you look at Eric tanh he hasn’t created for me anything that resembles a togetherness a a a something there you so I just laughing Jake’s got

Ghost soon it’s fine sure he has he has he hasn’t created anything I don’t think there is a connection between tenh and the fans and he makes t look better as well ten hag I I don’t think an needs to be but as in like or or or you know an

Makes ten Hag look worse but this is the point I was going to make in six months he’s you know we’ve got a proper UniFi the club we’ve got an identity we know where we’re going and you know you think about managers like Mourinho or con or

Whatever and maybe maybe if you’re lucky maybe they will bring you some short-term success but at what cost and in the era of financial sustainability Financial fair play can you afford these managers it is bad football Management on a club level in my view to hire these short-term managers they might create a

Bond they might create an environment hog done no that’s I’m I’m talking about 10 hog right now you know but but the idea is I think clubs need to create a philosophy and and an identity and when you put it into that context an polu is

Just we can go to Old Trafford however bad Mayan United might be we’re still going to Old Trafford without all the players we’ve listed and controlled again because we’re not a Harry Kane team that was the point I heard on the radio was when you saw the team surely

At that point you start to think the United midfield can dominate against Skip and hyberg you should do I didn’t even realize Bruno played no seon done and they didn’t they didn’t dominate at all and Testament and and the way we’re going to play it doesn’t matter who’s

There like we said what he said to James Madison mate whether you join whether you don’t join we are going to play the same way first time since March 2020 we played a Premier League match without Kan and Son scoring that game Drew one all at Burnley just before Co they had

Was this the UND game yeah UND came off Ali scored a pen yeah they had 21 shots Burnley it was like their third most in any Premier League game just go show isn’t it like so that was Conte Mourinho Mourinho just go show though like the difference an attitude of managers where

And I bet he’d have whed about it all the week before yeah and and I love an the way an talks about the injuries I mean if if if Mourinho or con were they would have melted out every week it’s just like you know what can you do

What’s the point of wiing about it because well you know they would have gone to United without I remember in fact it was just before that Burnley game did we we had leig just before then at home in the champions league right and Mourinho basically said we have to

Prioritize one game I don’t know if you remember it he basically said we’re going to have to Chuck one and we can only priori one game and you know we were awful then we were shock in and we had no we had no um and we just

We just sold Erikson and imagine an saying that like he’s he’s defeatist before the game’s even started ex and and I you know with even with all those players out I know it was United and they’re they’re poor but everyone thought we we could still get a result

Here just because we got that different res look against City we nearly beat City with all these players out yeah look they sticks that header in of different game but that’s fast football again it’s United away and they’re they’re a decent I think as well that that’s the consequence of a couple of

Changes tired legs unsure about the systems who’s where where was Royale when he came on like what was what that’s not chryst with him where was so many Defenders on where was he meant to be playing and I don’t think that Momin header and that chance in the last minute happens under normal

Circumstances with a team that’s more settled if we didn’t need to bring dragon and Royale and it it was a bit disjointed at that but that’s the point and that’s where that’s all come from right so I’m sort of writing off that chance and the last minute devastating

If it goes in but I just think that if we had a couple more players a bit more stability if this game was two weeks down the line that edit doesn’t happen and we’ve already won the game by that point agree so we’re happy with a point someone on this podcast predicted two

I’m not happy with a point under the circumstances I take it I thought it was a good performance and you know you can never go to all Trafford in any given season however bad they are and say a point is a bad result of course it’s not

It feels like we could have got three but our our results against the top six have dramatically improved beat Liverpool two with arsenal we lost one which was Chelsea Chelsea which big the old big six you yeah yeah smash you we’re we’re un beating away from home

Yeah just another stat we didn’t really talk about the were Charon goal but six six for the season since six since the start of December the most in the league along with San um he scored six in his first 47 has he got more than gabri he can’t have more than Gabriel kazus

Surely got more than Sur I mean Gabriel kazus is is is is you know sent forever to than any Aral player yeah I I was being a little bit fous um all right so Off the Bench he was fantastic by the way absolutely fantastic not just was

Phenomenal he really has come in and we’ve said it before he said I feel fit mentally and phys surgery is change could change his Tottenham career yeah mentally and physically he feels fit he looks strong his attitude is there he’s banging in some goals disappointing finish on the left foot in the second

Half when he he was in on on the wide with his right no he’s to hit it yeah it was one of those ones where if you get a little bit if you get a little bit more pace and potentially lift it I can see St finish that’s not his stock not one

Of his of course it isn’t he he’s best in the six yard but I’m nitpicking I’m nitpicking because his whole his all around game was excellent OD he skipped stepped up and played very well they all played well yeah they all played well I think it’s especially mention to poru I

Thought was absolutely brilliant he was class he was absolute class by any Defender ever Tottenham most most assists in the season by any Tottenham Defender ever no I think he’s got the same number of assists at this point of the Season as the most ever a Tottenham

Player has ever had oh okay fine but at this stage at this St no no no no no I think the most number of assists that a Spurs Defender has ever had is seven throughout the season oh so he’s one more and he’s one more and and and with

You know half the season left almost he’s he’s already done it you mentioned um Eric D gets there I feel like porro gets it yeah another quick stat on that porro and adog are in the top four for most touches in the opposition box for any play season I Defenders um that’s

The best I’ve seen a dogy play defensively felt like he did a real job on going show there he did he he he he really did apart from that that that that yeah well the crazy head trying to do there was that there was also the little grapple in the box which

Definitely for me wasn’t a penalty but it was also unnecessary the Vlog that I watched that I mentioned the Blake who sits in an awful seat he went on for about five minutes about that penalty not a penalty not a penalty didn’t even get it’s it’s not it’s just not a penalty I

Think you know it’s got highlighted because ten hog has highlighted it um did he well ten hog Wasing bad at time well he’s got to he’s got to cover up his own inefficiencies right so he’s got to make excuses and it’s exactly the sort of thing that cono would do or

Mourinho would do and listen we’ve had some bad decisions this season we moan and whatever but it’s not to cover up you know the lack of performance it’s to say well actually you know if that player gets booked in the first 10 minutes for stopping us on the break for

The third time then you know it changes the game do you know what I mean it’s those sorts of things but this was not a penalty in any way most H in the opposition Box by Defenders this season DOI 55 toosi 53 that’s surprising head

Some about to say and porro 44 so two of the top three and the chance of any of those being with their head ad DOI and porro also how how good is it to have someone that is really you know Corner taker we’ve not had that for years his

Corners are phenomenal you know I’d love to see generally though as as as sort of next step in the evolution I’d love to see someone banging a free kick KCK been a while get get por on free kicks Burnley yeah it should be he’s got brilliant all right and just moving on

At the end of that game uh little Cameo from jagus in 10 minutes you know tomin when he missed that chance all the center halves are looking at each other but that’s not a criticism of Dr usan as you said when Emerson came on it was all a

Bit any CL where they were meant to be no we got we got through it but he’s the next in line of a Italian connection that’s going on at the club we’ve talked about partii you know you see it on the Don is cooking but there’s that someone

Did a how he’s changed the defense and someone did a little image of all the players that he’s bought in keski boner drusin Madison which he was apparently very much involved in so been great is it the turnaround that we’ve asked for this painful rebuild is really happening

Well it feels like we are pretty much there like we we we are now in the process of building a squad and we mentioned at the beginning of the Season where this season falls apart is with Squad depth but you actually look at it now okay and somehow somewhere I’m not

Quite sure because I seem to have missed it but actually you take a look at the five players that are out and our bench starts to look when they’re fit we should have a really our bench should start to look really very we’ve talked about the bench players Solomon

Perisic redundant but we’re missing from the bench but so ordinarily you think to your Solomon will be on the bench actually for the rest of season Veron will probably be on the bench if you have your first 11 Lelo will be on the bench if you have your first 11

Dran we didn’t mention Ash Phillips apparently had a great debut Ash Phillips had a great yeah exactly did you see that thing on on that clip going around on whoever did Jette soccer special yeah this guy’s G to be a superstar yeah and I watched the highlights well not

The highlights there was a you a Twitter compilation of of of that game and he did look very good he looked very very good well there was that there was that Center back thing going around on Twitter we’ve got the the 16year old croan guy you know Philip Tim drag

Dorington Romero and vanent our center backs are sorted for the next eight nine years like ex it just is so suddenly we are building a hell of a squad without sort of even realizing you wake up you’re like think about if every single player is fit our bench look that’s

Never going to happen always going to have injuries but we’ve had so much and also in a cluster that’s been the problem step is hyber going and bringing in another midfielder and I think if we do that and then in the Su this month ideally and then in the summer you’re

Looking at a a a left Winger to replace Vera and go big on a striker maybe and then you’re looking like you got a really really coup fullbacks A’s going to go came back for four minutes 10 minutes came back to 4 minutes after 11 months

And he got injured again you know we’ said it we know it’s not the player’s fault right I always remember Darren Anon saying how much it used to hurt him being called sick note because it’s not like he wanted to be injured and I get

That and it is Harsh on us right to to to say it but come on you play five minutes man availability is the best ability and that’s why Hoy be yes that’s kind of why I want that’s kind of why I want Gallagher uh I’m not sure about him

You know he he will always be there he will always be present he’ll always be available he’ll always be ready to go you want gallager sign and get injured I wouldn’t mind so right so on that Italian connection apparently hyberg wants to go to uve so who knows we might

Get it might be gallaga it might be someone else from para’s little black book but should we have a little chat about the Italian connection at Spurs let’s do that let’s do that right now delighted to be joined by Nan Tali from the Italian football podcast Nema

Thanks so much for joining us good to be with you guys how you doing good thank you so a lot of Italian connections at Spurs at the moment but let’s start with the latest one R dragusin come from genua played about 10 minutes on Sunday against man united so we’ve got a very

Small sample size of what we can expect but going going further on what can we expect from him well I mean he’s very young um we should remember that um he you know this is really the first season he’s he’s playing regularly uh in the serria and he’s done so really really

Well he he’s been one of the breakout stars of the serria this season at a Genoa who who newcomers to the ca just got promoted but it’s a team that should never have been relegated in the first place when they were and and belong in

The ca um he he’s a good passer um I think he’s fairly quick he’s he’s improved his passing that was one of the major things we you know that people were critical of him when when he was at U was that his passing was poor but he’s

Really really improved since then um and this season I think he’s he’s really really taken those important next steps for young players uh you know going from youth team to first team football and being being able to deliver at a consistent level when playing first team

Football in one of the top five European leagues is that’s the most difficult step um and and he’s done it really really well I’m a bit surprised that only that that that Spurs went after him uh I would have expected most teams to wait at least for him to have a full

Season but I mean if you if you feel that I mean they must have saw seen something that they thought well it was worth taking a gamble on um and also of course his age uh he follows the levy Levy uho of buying young so um no

It’s it’s I was a little bit surprised when I heard of the interest but but then again I I think I hope he does well I mean he’s done he’s he’s been really really impressive so far this season there was some talk when he was at genua

That Juventus were a little bit or some Juventus fans and maybe ex players and coaches were surprised they let him go well you since they started this under 23 NextGen project they’ve really produced some fantastic players uh young players uh really really impressive players uh roella MTI uh Matias sule

Dragusin and so on um and you know they they weren’t really surprised when they let him go at the time uh I think that’s a little bit of a Monday back quarterback Monday morning quarterbacking if I’m perfectly honest because he wasn’t one of the more impressive uh youngsters at U but he’s

Was talented yes um and of course Juventus being in the position they’re in financially and and you know needing young players and needing Defenders well there is a there is a sour taste in their mouths of course when when their former youth team players end up doing

Really well elsewhere and going for big money we saw that with Bon K keski as well I know that didn’t necess come straight through as young as dragusin but we’ve done well out of Juventus in the last few month or year or so yeah banur banur and Koski was I mean

That was different because Ki obviously owned by Atlanta had a magical season with Parma after six months he signed for ju but stayed at Atlanta to end this stayed at stayed at Palma to end the season um banur was different because he was one of those players that you were

Believed in but then you have gone through quite a lot of changes and and upheaval and instability to put it mildly um so they needed to to to offload those players who wasn’t who weren’t working at you uh especially with allegri there I mean allei when we interviewed Seng Goran Erikson he told

Us that he’d heard that allei doesn’t doesn’t think that kosi understands the game uh so when when when a manager has that perception of a player it’s time to Part Way um so you know it wasn’t working for him at youa at all um he was

Doing all right under P but then that U was a bit of a mess um uh but but but since then I think when allegri came it became pretty evident very early on that this isn’t going to work out are you surprised at how quickly Vicario and

Adog have adapted to the Premier League especially adog having been in you know senior football for only a couple of Seasons no Destiny o DOI when he broke out uh we interviewed him uh that well he was when he was back then the only teenager uh playing in the C

Consistently um and you could straight away tell what’s so impressive about him is his maturity um and his hunger he’s got a really good head on his shoulders he wants to be you know he wants to reach the absolute top he wants to be the best

Player in his position in the world he wants to win big trophies and and he’s not happy he’s not satisfied and he just completely pushes himself uh you know every every ordin player we’ve interviewed since uh or you know that that has played with him says that you

Know he’s a mentality monster in that aspect he he just continues to push himself so I’m not surprised by him at all I I I did if anything I’m I’m surprised I didn’t think I knew he was going to do well but I didn’t think he

Was going to do this well um as for Vicario yes I am surprised I knew he had a fantastic season last season there you know he was one of the best goalkeepers in in the Ser if not the best um and and he was destined for a big move um but

For him to take on the Premier League I mean I think arguably he’s been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season and and for him to be that no I don’t think anyone expected that but you know now there’s even calls in Italy and

And some people in the media saying well maybe you know spalti should drop donaruma and start Vicario for the national team even which is which would have been unheard of just 12 months ago yeah I think Spurs had to go undergo a painful rebuild is is how it was termed

Um and and the architect of that painful rebuild has almost completed the job really in some ways and that’s Fabio Pari who’s completely transformed the club he’s still at Tottenham in an advisory capacity we understand but tell us about the perception of his him in uh

Italy and what do you see as being the future for him would he stay very much connected to Tottenham do you think because we’d love him to be well I think that’s why he will continue staying at Tottenham uh unless he’s convicted of crimes uh which you know let’s be honest

Could still happen the criminal case is is still pending uh you know the the the only punishments handed out were were from the football uh side of things or the footballing authorities uh the the Prisma invest tigation is is still ongoing and it hasn’t if if I’m not

Mistaken it’s that it hasn’t even been started to be litigated yet um so that that’s what it is but his reputation in Italy and Juventus is in absolute tatters um he was he was a disaster for youa let’s be honest um the man couldn’t as my colleague would say he couldn’t

Sell life jackets to on the Titanic you know when when he was at U he couldn’t offload any players the only thing he could do was hand out ginormous contracts to players that U could not then offload um and to be honest he’s he’s the main catalyst and reason for

Yuba’s downfall he was just bad decision after bad decision financially sporting wise so yes he was an absolute abject disaster at Yu but I do think he’s done a really good job at Tottenham um and I understand why you guys want him to stay because I think he’s brought in U a

Level of expertise perhaps that that was lacking at Tottenham before and it seems that the owner and the president they they have you know the man management to have faith in him and that’s all that matters really um I think his his you know I think there is I think he is

Talented at what he’s done um I just don’t think that he was ready to handle Yu a club of yua stature in Italy uh I think there was there were there was a big large of you know and a large part him thinking you know he was a little

Bit too got a little bit too big for his boots at you and and and we know that because we’ve heard the the police uh you know listening into his phone call when he’s essentially bragging about being the sporting director for four or five different clubs um and and and whatnot

So there is there is that aspect of it but I think that at Tottenham he’s doing a fantastic job and and and I and I think for tottenham’s sake and for his sake I think it’s good for him to stay there unless of course he’s convicted of

Criminal offenses and has to go to jail but I mean that’s that’s that’s another that’s another discussion listen we we once lost a Dean in Zagreb when the manager was in jail so anything can happen when you’re in jail you never know um who was our manager for that oh

Was Jose Mourinho it was nice so you talk about you talk about reputations in tat as we record this just a few hours after Jose gets sacked by Roma I’ve actually got a colleague at work who’s a big Roma fan and he loved Jose I’ve not

Heard from him today but an Inter Milan fan so he’s an Inter Milan fan he probably loves the man himself but how’s that gone down in Italy with Roma fans did they want him out I noticed you know it’s the it’s the Jose cycle about 150

Games and he’s gone he’ been sent off a couple of times recently you know was his time just up there again look um what Mourinho managed to do at Roma from one aspect in terms of building a relationship with the club the fans the city was exactly what he

Did with in he is to say that he’s revered to say that he’s loved would be an understatement they absolutely love him um it got to the point where I think he could even kill someone in the middle of the pitch at the study Olympic and they’d still be singing his

Name like he he it was it it became like that because he he understood what it meant to be at Roma he understood what it meant to to the fans to the to the Roma fans to the city and and he connected with that I mean he is I’ve

Always for me he is not the kind of guy who should be in charge of a real Madrid or Manchester United or something like that he is a un he is an underdog he’s an underdog General um and at Roma and clubs like in and roma where there is this kind of

Sentiment of woe is me uh under dog mentality quite a bit for good and bad he’s he’s ideal once he unites everyone and that’s what he’s managed to do and I think he has adapted his management style as well to younger players yes he he still does the whole hard discipline

If he feels that players aren’t doing what he wants them to do he has no business chastising them publicly but whereas at man united it didn’t work it worked at Roma it really did the players were United the problem is at Roma was that the results just weren’t there um

Especially you know the ownership fredkin they look at this season they look at last season and they look at the money spent and the squad that Napoli had and the wage Bill and then they look at their own and they’re going well okay we won the conference League okay we

Might feel you know agreed that we didn’t win the Europa League because the referee blah blah blah but look at the league position it’s not good enough and this season the Champions League spot is really up for grabs and roma are albeit within Striking Distance they’re not

Really where they should be um and I feel and and also he’s only got four or five months left on his contract which is also very weird because mourinho’s never before entered the last year of his contract with any club but he did it because you know some would say you know

He’s bended the knee others would say because he loved the the the Piaza as I say in Italy the he loved the club and the atmosphere it’s it’s I don’t know you know that that you know we’ll have to wait and see what what what what

Happens after this for him but I think it’s you have to you can’t take away from the fact that he has written history at Roma he brought them to back-to-back European Cup finals that’s never been done in their history before he won them a European trophy that’s

Also historic okay was the least of the most important ones but he was also under sh Financial shackles you know Roma after after the previous owner owners palot after the previous regime were a financial absolute mess the friedkin have spent 800 million euros just trying to stabilize the club from the previous

Mismanagement uh so he’s not exactly had you know he’s worked hard and he’s not exactly come he’s not exactly have has the situation of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in any way uh both in terms of backing and also impunity as it seems in in the face of the law but it’s

Uh because I mean let’s remember Roma were punished by UEFA for for financial fair play violations right so you know it’s it’s it’s it’s it’s a complex situation um but I do feel that at the end of the day he can’t escape from the fact that in the final third there’s

Been problems there has been problems Roma just aren’t creating enough and it’s looked really dreary yeah and and you know he he was just unable to he offered you know and and also his way of sometimes the you know his way of approaching games and a way of approaching the the atmosphere around

The club was sometimes very destabilizing and you know if you you know Roma is a very very unstable environment the club the fans right it’s there’s always a catastrophe going on when you it’s not every it’s not every Italian Club no no no no no no no no jua

Are stable Milan are somewhat stable inter and roma and nap these clubs are crazy and if you throw in Mourinho into that that’s literally throwing plutonium into the oven I mean it’s going to explode and and many times it’s been controlled explosions but now it’s been Chernobyl meltdowns and it’s it’s not

Worked and he’s he he has been a destabilizing factor and and I think that’s what kind of at the end of the day they just looked at it went hang on it’s January he’s only got five months left on his contract it’s not going to cost us too much uh let’s just bring

Someone in to see out the end of the season and then you know the sporting director is leaving at the end of the month as well fresh start clean you know clean slate let’s start now I I have one last question very quickly if we can on past managers and their reputations now

Antonio Conte where’s he next what’s going on with him Antonio con knows he that he can’t miss his next job uh after the Tottenham debacle he knows that he can’t uh miss his next job and he knows he has to go somewhere where he actually delivers and wins um so

He well no because I think the jobs Milan Milan is looking vacant Napoli will be vacant these are Big clubs in Italy these are clubs where but as you said a club like Napoli is throwing plutonium into the oven and well the thing with yeah yeah but con cont is I

Mean look the reason if he goes to Napoli they’ll it’ll be short successful and then the whole thing will explode in everyone’s faces we all know that especially when you got aelio de there as well who is just like you know I mean you got two sticks of plutonian trying

To get along in an oven um but so so no it’s not going to work but but I I and I think Antonio con knows that and I think he he he doesn’t want that I think Milan to me seems today the most likely outcome okay um because he want look con

Is not just emotion emotional and crazy he’s also very smart he wants to write history he wants to be the first it first coach to win the Sera with Y inter and Milan and he could do that and and that would just Fe boost his ego just

About the right size as it is um so I I think Milan is the most likely one and also because it’s Milan it’s a big Club they know how to handle him there’s already an organization in place and of course he’s going to have a meltdown and

Of course it’s going to end with after in a maximum two years later down the road where he just throws everyone under the bus cuz that’s just how Antonio Conte is but in the meantime they’ll probably win titles they’ll probably they’ll they won’t look they’ll look you know very balanced in defense they’ll

They’ll score there’ll be a structure in place because you have to remember con when he leaves clubs he leaves structure in place like when he left juuve after three years of winning there okay Alle is a fantastic coach but the structure was in place for alri to win another

Five scetti go to two Champions League finals you know when he came to Chelsea he took over a [ __ ] show he won the league of course he started fighting with everyone but they still continue to win same thing with in he he you know he stabilized them he won the scurto for

The first time in in over a decade and then they’ve continued to win trophies and stay at the top like this is the kind of Coach You could argue to some extent he’s done that at Tottenham as well this is the kind of guy he is he

Doesn’t leave when he leaves a club he leaves them if you just push away the [ __ ] [ __ ] if you mind my expression aside if you actually look at what he leaves afterwards there’s a group of players there that understand what it means to win he he creates a winning

Mentality and an attitude that stays past his tenure even though he fights with I mean the man could literally pick a fight in a in a in a in a m no you literally could could start fight with dead people I this is just that’s just the personality he is but he

Is a tactical genius he is a winning I mean players the players love him players love working with him because he he he ignites a hunger in them I mean let’s remember who Antonio Conte is he was the captain of one of the greatest if not the greatest you of all time he

Knows what it takes to win he knows the level of at you know the level of work ethic and and what what what’s required to win as a player and the players request you know respect that because he also gives everything he’s got on that training pitch and he turns up prepared

So I think maybe he’s a complex character I think maybe it was different than Spurs maybe that sort of works in Italy and Chelsea Spurs might just be a different Beast I don’t know NE listen I could talk about Italian football all day genuine I think it’s brilliant every

Every week there’s another story and where people where can people find you and your podcast yeah um the Italian football podcast uh we’re on Spotify uh iTunes you know all those usual places and uh you know where we do a Monday review show which is free for all to

Listen to and then we also do a Q&A pod which our patrons send in every Tuesday and and a midweek review and and preview of the weekend on Thursdays if they want to join that patreon /fp 299 a month and if you want to find me personally it’s

Neav rod and you sent me some links to some Mogi and some Vicario and the drusian interview so I’ll stick them on our socials name brilliant listen honestly I like I said I could talk about Italian football all day but we’ll let you go and thanks so much for joining

Us like I said twice I could talk about chion football day it is the gift that keeps on giving it’s a basket case of a league at Marin has gone again I was going to ask him actually whether he thinks mourinho’s days are numbered in

Italy because I think they are here oh I don’t I see new were taking him can you 100% see Newcastle as much as I don’t like him I would like to see him back just a bit of you say that you think about you think about what Nema just

Said there about how Mourinho works we touched on it earlier in the show as well about how you build a an environment and and unite the fans and that and an underdog sort of story and as much as newos got the Saudi Arabians they can’t spend money at the in it

Because of the financial sustainability model which I think is excellent by the way not that they can’t spend money the model of financial sustainability we talk about that at some point in another show because the transfer lack of transfers in January is shocking at the minute we the only one who spend money

16th of J we’re one of the few clubs that is is able to but you know if he went to a club like a Newcastle where you’ve got St James is on the top of that Hill is sort of the epicenter of that city a city that is an underdog

Sort of story bit like Roma yeah yeah and he could really build that you say he wants see him back in the Premier League I think it’d be great for the entertainment I think he would do an exceptional job at Newcastle and I’d like to see it blow up after a year and

A half or two years but but in that time I think he would create something pretty good for a year and a half two years at newc and they’re desperate for a trophy as well aren they and I’d hate to see him win a trophy at Newcastle but if

They want a trophy before R my god with Mourinho oh can you only imagine that would be Dreadful I don’t I don’t want to think about that but on the flip side it’ be great to him at Newcastle and and and and for it to absolutely blow up and

Go really wrong so okay well he’s someone else’s problem now exactly thank you gentlemen we’re going to leave it there thank you for having me no predictions because we haven’t got a game thank you for coming that’s all right yeah Off the Bench cheers Jake

Next game is a big one sorry I called you already skip s well feel bad about that on the on the on the basis we might not have you on next week give us a little prediction for City one all replay well I was do you know what I was

Asking someone the other would would you take a replay now knowing that there’s a chance we could get some back basuma S I just beat them I don’t want any more I want as few games as possible oh because we’ got loads of games coming up in

    1. Anybody foolish enough to judge Timo Werner negatively on this first appearance for us, especially considering the testing circumstances, will be forced to "eat" their words in due time.

    2. If Werner’s name was “Toby” and no one had ever seen him play before, I’m sure they’d be pleased with his performance under the circumstances. It’s this biased historical narrative on him that incurred unwarranted criticism

    3. In terms of the Mourinho debate, everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. However, whatever anybody has to say, there is no doubt in my mind that he should have been able to stay for the final. Regardless of how we all wanted him gone, it would have been typical of him, to win it, even if it was just to spite everyone, and say, "I told you so, this is what I do". Win or lose, though, the reason I would have stuck with him is for the very reason we now have the debate. If he had lost, then what's the argument? You had your chance, and you blew it. The odds of bringing in someone else to inspire a win at the last minute were monumentally against. Only Harry Redknapp would have had a cat in hells chance of pulling that off.

    4. I think we have to give Werner the benefit of the doubt. When was he last playing regular football? We weren't about to slag off VDV or Romero if they weren't on their game completely, and they had already been used to playing for us. Timo was put in at the deep end, having last played a game in December. He wasn't great, but he did get an assist, and if he does that in every game that's a bonus in itself.

    5. I agree with the argument that the midfield starts as Madders, Bentancur, Sarr or Madders, Bentancur, Biss. They will get rotated but Bentancur always plays great and who gets the injuries that he has had and gets back that quickly. The Man would spill his own blood for our team.

    6. McTominay scoring would only have been an injustice. You could say what if about us hitting the crossbar or, for that matter, us hitting our own post. They happened, but within the context of the game, overall, we were the better team. Although Ange won't say it. Full squad, we paste them. Even if you reverse the roles on the day and give their players the bug, we probably still beat them. Instead, we got a well-deserved draw, and just like Ange, all things considered, fantastic result, lads 👏

    7. You mention free kicks. This brings up the obvious question about Maddison. This guy has already stolen the hearts of Spurs fans, yet he hasn't even done the stuff that I was most excited about us getting him for. I thought, HOORAY we have a freekick specialist again at last. Aside from that he was alays curling in goals from the edge of the box for Leicester as well. Could it be that we havent even seen the best of the man yet?

    8. Thanks Lads… good convo… so much I would comment on but I’d just be agreeing with what you’ve already said.

Daniel Levy will live rent free forever in Jose’s head and I 100% agree it.
I was onboard with his hiring but Mourinho was dross. However It was Conte the Narcisist who did us wrong.

I was at all the home games, and Brighton away in December getting the use from my Stratus membership. I watched them do their walk with Benters included (same as Madders doing the walk in his playing shirt when we first thought he might be injured) and the whispers started immediatel. The atmosphere palpably lifted when he was unveiled in the line up.
Brilliant brilliant team management from Ange.
      It won us the game.

      Exciting times.
Convinced that Ange will bring us silverware and a title.

    9. Great show lads. My only constructive criticism “Is to let each other finish the sentence or point they are trying to make”, .It’s frustrating when one of you is just about to get to the key point and someone else has jumped in and interrupted.
Apart from that, it’s great to watch.
      Cheers.
