To the patient so you need to be assertive you need to be firm it happens in any career that you’ve gone from being the new kid on the Block you know not knowing how things work to the ones that people look to I think it’s yet that’s two things experience and

Common sense it’s an idea to agree with a small little thing yeah experience is like massively important yeah experience is is it’s a good teacher senior now Scott has been at Kings for 13 years today he’s in charge of all 10 beds

In resource hello I’m Scott this is your first shift in here first time I I noticed the scared look you just still have to look and take everything in there don’t you yeah don’t be afraid to get stuck in

There’s another student another time on a night shift so I’m like have you ever done CPR before she’s like no so right you’re going to do some CPR now okay she jumps on and she’s pumping down on his chest and his blood shooting out these holes and I’m like we stop it after

Three minutes and I turn around and I’m like oh was that all right and I could see it kind of filling up and then it occurred to me I just went have you seen a dead body before I forget that people have a first time For about three meters head injury loc GCS now 15 facial injury C1 C7 tenderness [Music] hi everyone hello hello mum of two Pauline had a fall at home 40 minutes ago four at half ten this morning she fell down five steps landing on the table Pauline does

Not remember the full events lovely thank you very much okay okay we’ve got five minutes for primary survey the first three minutes are gone I haven’t heard anything let’s go I like King’s polish Hospital wow okay [Applause] [Music] for 20 minutes

Bringing in a 6 fell off a roof head first right right I’m sorry I’m gonna get someone to take seven CDU five’s gonna go around to Mage Cube clay three is going to go to minus cubicle two and then that gives us a bit of space when you’ve got a full resource where

You’re completely rammed but something else is coming in and you need to fit that in and you’ve got five minutes to do it you’ve really got to fire off a lot of big decisions in a very short period of time can we urgently have a porter to recess to move some patience

Please thank you excuse me [Music] three of you here that it’s waiting they’re all going to fight for one bed okay we’ll have to split this trauma call off a little bit how many Orthopedic searches I’ve

Got two can I leave you with this one there so what we definitely need to see is buying CT head heavy I’ll leave you to it for now I’ll do the other one right surgery it’s here it’s here Orthopedics it’s here You’re helping probably happens from the park just to give you an update 60 year old male a severe head chest and abdominal injuries is cardiovascularly unstable and intubated and ventilated this is this patient yeah we

Are just going to take you next door to somebody quotes you coming in so we have to know yeah oh it’s okay yeah if you want to get hands on due if you just want to stand back and

Watch and not forcing you to do anything I want to get in there but I don’t want to get in people’s way we’re getting people’s right we should be told to get another one as soon as he rolls in through the door he’s attached to bloody so we could be looking at chest

Range we might even open his chest or we could be looking at just there’s nothing we can do here it might already be dead by the time we get to it [Applause] [Music] can everybody else sign in that’s here before we start please

A 62 year old man with life-threatening injuries has been thrown in from Sussex fell the ground while working on a roof it’s a very time critical situation a fall from high the two big things you’re looking

At is a head injury and a chest injury straight up in here guys we’d heard that he’d fall into his head so in the back of your mind you’re thinking it could go either way it’s on Mark’s count he’s got the tube at the top Thank you hi guys this is David he’s approximately 60 years of age David has had an unwitnessed fall 30 feet off a roof landing on concrete injuries top to toe he has a traumatic brain injury with a right parietal hematoma he has chest injuries with suspicion of bilateral

Rib fractures and concerns of intra-abdominal bleeding okay thank you very much okay first of all I want the blood connected in cardiothoracic exertion two chest traces in the thoracostomy primary service we’ve got five minutes come on then ventilation Journey blood is being

Connected yeah [Music] just join please [Music] and just some mono silk please since arriving David has been given three pints of blood good primary survey plan yeah being taken blood is coming up chest strains in and we should be ready to go for scan very

Shortly Barbara do we have any details for him no more yeah okay okay I’ll be almost ready to go to scan from an area point of view yes we got trucks okay let’s go he went to work it’s normal it’s used to fit Aerials and satellites up on the roofs he

Gave me a kiss goodbye and I always give him a kiss and say goodbye and you know have a good day and all that and I didn’t this particular day I was always saying to him it’s about time you give up but no he wouldn’t he loved him

[Music] got a phone call [Music] police car pulled up and it’s all said Mrs Becca said yeah and he said oh which ain’t you to London and I I honestly truly thought he was already gone [Music] thank you [Music] darling but it’s very little happening I mean they’re not busy are they no that could be a young doctor arriving [Music] the delay it’s not busy well we don’t want to stay on behind the scenes uh we’ve done the people

Have to be here first too to go on behind the scenes [Music] certainly this can’t be sorted out in the next couple of days so I’m going to be very handicapped to be two of us I might have to put off my own sad

I haven’t got a space or a nurse you just wait there for two minutes I’m getting both oh lovely test number six six chess can you just take this new one stasis lovely thank you Tess [Music] well your seat is going to be delayed isn’t it unless we find out when

It’s where because they’re going to be chocolate with these two now the CT 56 year old Pauline’s been given pain relief she’s now waiting for a CT scan to show the extent of damage to her Spine and Neck just arrive status just needs to go into CDU Medics just to write

Gunter area thank you [Music] [Music] I don’t know [Applause] [Applause] don’t cry please please [Music] I’m fine don’t cry [Music] I was just so frightened because well she said but excellent problem tripped in a manhole cover and broke a foot she ran across the road tripped

And fell onto the pavement and fractured her wrist and broke her elbow and then just fell up the stairs um just hit her face off the table and smashed all her teeth out it’s it’s um [Music] emotionally draining [Music] keep trying to tell her that you know just slow

Down you know you’re getting old man is you’re older and just slow down and try and take things easy you know rather than dashing across the road and falling over and falling up the stairs and you know all the stuff that’s happened to her yeah it’s been um been a bit scary

I’d hold a hand more often now when we go out you’ve seen the bottom teeth Casino can you um get me some decent under clothes for you they’ve cut all my under clothes they cut off my shirt it’s 38D [Music] yeah please [Music] yeah all right I think you make your marriage um I don’t believe in love at first sight get another

Thing you grow to love someone [Music] yeah I just got nasty confusions predominantly on the right side with a large temporal fracture on the right side bilateral orbital fracture and also a temporal fracture on the left side David’s head took the full impact of the Fall

The will of injury to his brain [Applause] we’ve got two boys um they’re Now 37 and 36. we always used to like going to Cornwall than we had our own Caravan so we went touring um and the boys thought that was you know the bee’s knees [Music] so important is now

To see if he’s got other injuries or bleeding from somebody if not then if it is an isolated head injury but it’s very very important to maintain his blood pressure relatively High to make sure he’s getting enough cerebral perfusion pressure up there because this brain

Will over the next days swell up so this is now our task enough oh yeah I don’t think you could actually say after 42 years that I’m in love with him but I love him it’s for better for worse really you know that was in your vows [Music] it’s it’s strange

Isn’t it you know I think it’s like partnership in the end right we’re going to roll you again Madam you can sit in in one of this chair Opera critic John injured his ankle while on a skiing holiday is that right that’s right and how young are you now this time

Right good right how can I help you today mister well I found the second morning running fall in love don’t forget we were in our 30s you know it wasn’t romantic love oh here’s the love of my life it was just a very interesting man Andre Charming they’re easy

He asked me to go to an opera the English version of Wagner opera and we’ve been going to music ever since I’ve been married to John for 42 years with oil and did not did not make the difference it made yesterday so you’re being oil massage yeah and Pain Relief yeah foreign Yes I think probably uh she wears one and a half of the legs yes I’d say so do you have any medical problems sir uh yeah yes I’m suffering from prostate cancer that’s been treated it’s got abs a little bit of it onto the pubic food yeah so he’s on female hormones okay

Hazard eggs many men die with cancer rather than of cancer and that seemed to be a fairly encouraging thing to keep in mind and I never had any pain so um I’ve been lucky perhaps I just

Stay on a chair yeah if you need to know them oh we got a Simba starting as well look at blood pressure we’ve got cholesterol as well good lost your diet I think you need to get your diet extremely well you need to limit

Your level of oil basically the only thing he takes too much yes faces less oil my husband would say that I ruined the roost in everyday matters there’s absolutely no doubt you know he’s not interested enough really right you’re back to the waiting area okay

But with my husband it’s not a matter of let you do really is it you know you kind of accommodate one another don’t you [Music] know I’m going to get something to eat I know you can’t have anything so I’ll eat it out there too right you will okay

Don’t be silly I mean on the lips are you have any relatives at all yeah apparently there’s a wife who is being blue lighted in by the police like she’s expected yeah so should we send her to surgical critical care

I think that would be very good yeah yeah thank you did you get that as well David’s CT scan has revealed significant injury to his brain he’s obviously gone like that hasn’t he answers as he’s landed uh yeah but I’m surprised his chest and his chest is yeah

So we’re waiting across that’s an hour really from getting here into scanning back out again [Music] I’ve seen some people fall from Great Heights and bends I’ve seen people that have fallen from standing and and had a big bleed but usually that the higher up they fall and

The more chance you’ve got of them having some brain damage once you’ve stabilized the patient there’s not that much more to do for them [Music] um on a life support he was in a coma we all moan about our partners but you just don’t realize until something like this happens thank you

[Music] I can’t believe [Music] how quiet it is yeah it’s probably a bit cold can’t get you sure got shoes here I can’t get on or swollen I’ve got my coat on the floor getting chilly now Can I have your Daniella hi I’m going to Jamaica tomorrow oh would you get a boyfriend I hope so enjoy your holiday all right enjoy oh I love it it’s one of the fyt doctors quite sweet you got a boyfriend really yeah good girl continue

With your studies and dress will follow sounds good yes hello how can I help you know you’re next yeah oh [Applause] my God a very very fit man just finished with the Army in 1952 April 52. and it was I went down

To get a job you know the labor exchange and they said man I said we ain’t got no got no job for you oh well that’s just tasty that’s not real I said I’ve been out there for two

Years right doing your baby whatever it was yet to do I said when I come back there’s no no work for me I said tell you what I don’t bother I said I’ll go get my own book

That was really fast you don’t see no sound going like this cleaning the way come please next job and that was it yeah [Music] questions Don’t don’t lick darling don’t like what don’t lick your lips they get dry and dryer maybe you should have ellipso in your pocket but you’ll just lose it when you yeah six I’m on the other there put some water yeah see it’s better isn’t it

He’s probably cared for me better than I’ve cared for her she looked she slipped after me pretty well so it’s partly due to health I’m still around today darling yes your feet are not your best part darling no I know which means my best part

When you smile it’s lovely if you only had your teeth you know he sort of doesn’t really focus on his cancer there is a danger and that’s you know always there if you’re awake at night it will worry you or if you’re having a reflective moment

It will worry you but in our kind of normal busy lives no we don’t let it and John is a sort of uh optimistic man and so he would [Music] so it’s more around your ankle it’s it’s yes around here classical textbook sprain

Yes it sounds very very much what happens to you we have good times and in The Not So Good Times and you were um you work through them together All right we’re getting a little bit full now go ahead [Music] yep then black underneath isn’t it lovely bye and another one okay y’all [Music] you’re done very well being stripped down for such a long time all right yes it’s it’s

Very dry there’s a bit of crusted blood around there well the result did you say it won’t crack in the bone right it’s a bit further up the higher up than the coccyx bone right we call it the lumber region all right London’s fine yeah yeah there’s

No specific treatment for that apart from taking painkillers really yeah right should we have another look at the bank yeah so I’ve got a bit of a bad track record I’ve just got to take things a bit easier

It’s not fair on John you know because he tends to worry about everything I I do I classed myself as being very lucky [Music] and I often think I put him through too much [Music] but I don’t think it’s fair [Music] he’s an angel I wouldn’t be without him

[Music] um hello is it Mr runcorn all right would you mind coming through this way okay all right come through this way you don’t seem to have any shoes I know I couldn’t get them on my all my feet are swollen okay

You’re actually any help let’s get those legs up onto the bed well done right well very nice to meet you my name’s Josh I’m one of the doctors here so tell me what brings you into the emergency department today oh good um it’s swollen ankles to start okay and um

You’ll probably parked you know maybe you’ve got a blockage here somewhere also I’ve got um we’ve got a cargo sorry what’s it called constipation I take care okay so three three things today you’ve got a family uh yes uh two sons Boxing Day boxing day just gone it’s

Gone yeah oh sorry to hear that um in 1950 follows a lot sticker I’ll tell you you know but when one day she was indoors closes what’s happened to you she said my dad hit me last night well it should have been a little something you’ve ever touched you

It’s going to be you a lot my friend all right believe me I was really annoyed I said I’m going to marry her shortly all right and that was he practicables and it never touched you after it [Music] okay the 58 58 glorious years no problems fantastic you don’t see that so

Much these days well I’ve got an age on the uh 3rd of August 1952 always waiting at the bottom of the inside the church for you know and her father brought me then he brought her down the old you know I never seen Musa quick if we make before my changing line

A nursing home just around the corner for me you know right beautiful place oh what a terrible Christmas for you yeah thank you and Parkinson’s all right we’re just gonna pop this line in piggy was you he’s about 70. in the beginning

I used to um when she really got better I suggested everything hello I’m gonna give her a stick wash and yeah then you’ve got to that stage where she you know you know they recognize you know so I said why enough’s enough I said James

Don’t give a no more oxygen oh she she’s been through enough I said just ready to take this course and me and me and Robert was there we both hold their hands you know and uh that was it she went away peacefully and had no pain thank you

Who does all your cooking for you I do it you do it yourself yeah how’s your chefing skills all right we’ll just get that uh that X-ray done they’ll come and get you though so you just relax here for a bit okay you’re warm enough like that okay good [Music] thank you

And that’s your water [Music] another okay [Music] hello there all right [Music] yes do you just want to go over there and look after him old man on my way living room awesome Okay yeah it really hurts man [Music] [Music] where’s your granddad most of the time like because you lived up literally the top of the road from us they used to come home and I used to dance with my granddad

Around the sitting room to all Frank Sinatra and Perry Como and all things like that he had a stroke he became ill I started to take up care for him [Music] I gave up dancing College social life reflections [Music] I don’t think you’d have the patience it’s not something that’s easy trust me [Music] you see so many people go starts [ __ ] with your head doing care work it’s not really the life of a teenager is it but um that was my life just

Had to kind of deal with it and I enjoyed it so I didn’t really feel like you missed out no I feel like I’m missing out now my grandad’s gone because I don’t really have

That routine no more I’ve got to do this and I’ve got to do that and it’s like I ain’t got that smile no more to look at when I come home and I miss it it just he deserved everything we did for him and I just thought it was my place to

To take up because of everything he’d done for me he was very lucky to have you I was lucky to have him [Music] um is this the trauma one the fall down the stairs it’s up in five

But I’m not sure if the Bay’s ready yet but we’ve had a bit of anything right [Music] [Applause] it’s not a patch and I just think sometimes am I ever gonna get into that level like obviously you will trauma is a reasonably simple to look after if you trained right it’s exciting

It’s gory it’s the stories you take home but if you want to be a proper any nurse you know show me how to look after a really good chest pain sort out an asthmatic being able to manage

A good miners area sit out and trails for 12 hours and charge 140 people and get it right all the time good a e nurse is an all-rounder make sure you come back for a second one [Music] Alfred’s x-ray shows no significant problems he’ll stay in overnight for observation Alfred have you got any family that live near you no only my son so you don’t need any help at home with anything oh no I’m fine you’re absolutely fine at home and then if you need

Any help you can just ring your sons can you oh yeah yeah yeah you sure yeah okay thank you [Music] can cook show Orange all the women all these clubs that women can do again the times it’s about something oh I wish I was trying to leave my husband oh I

Wish I was you but you’re calling at me but spoken for [Music] eign [Music] it’s got to be my way what if we just wait on the chair there I’ll see if a poster can come okay and then we’ll take yeah you’re walking quicker than me though all right sleep in there yep

And I’ve got a couple of paracetamol for you up here there you go just paracetamol okay fine all right yeah thank you foreign [Music] My granddad passed just like literally but for my 18th it was like is it my turn now to to be that adult is this is this where is time to choose my path because I’m 18 Grandad’s

Always told me don’t do this don’t do that go and do this go and do that and he’d always advise me and it was like well now I’ve got that option [Music] what do I do I learned quite a lot from my grandad I think I got a very old soul we were

Wrong oh and I put them on your lap is that all right all right yep so much stuff mobile chemists [Music] I know he’s up above watching over so I’m blessed are we going to work in reception what Nicole [Music] oh it’s cold [Music] so just let the

Party I’ll be the last one here unboxing [Music] thank you everything that happens to me daily is new to me and you work with it or work around it or whatever I just want things to be normal but it won’t happen I know that and people have told me

That so only time is a Halo isn’t it being with primary helps me immensely I couldn’t do that I’m sure it’s infatuated with me now I’d sort of say to him now I like going to bed you know if you’re tired no I’ll wait until you come to bed he won’t do anything

On his own without me now which is sometimes I think it’s nice if I could have a quiet five minutes even an hour [Music] a camera I do hide it shows as well as you guys cleaning I’ve been going there

30 years I think the world and I want to give it away for a friend to leave him really you’re not going anywhere you’re not going nowhere probably enough you’re not going anywhere He’s been stabbed twice in the next flight it’s a parent all you want is for your children to be happy and healthy may not even be back tonight you have one tumor and then you’re told it’s gone and then it comes back with

Your track record we have to assume the worst and hope for the best Thank you [Music]

    1. I just spent 14 hours stuck on a trolley in A+E due to lung disease. I was brought in after being unable to breathe, I was seen by a Doctor pretty quick, but then I was left on a trolley in a cubicle for 13 hours. Nobody checked on me, I had to get off the trolley and find my own way to the toilet and back, no nurse checked in on me during the whole time I was there, I had no food or water. I was totally neglected. I know they were busy but fucksake they didn't even bother to ask if I needed a drink of water in 13 hours. Not impressed.

    2. Having been in A/E twice, both times it’s stunning just how many people are there, you have to think ‘ what the heck has everybody been doing’😵‍💫. It feels like the world and his wife has turned up. Crazy.not the least surprised those on trolleys are sometimes left for a long time. My A/E is so small the only place to put you ,if your on a trolley but sitting up and taking notice ( I’d bust my knee ligament) I sat and watch the trolleys being moved about like a game, interesting, they did come back to me when they’d time checking. It’s good grumbling they’re doing their best with she’d loads of people . Don’t forget When a real! Seriously injured or sick person arrives on blue lights they OF COURSE must be seen to FIRST , I’m just glad it wasn’t me. Just hope your not there at night at weekend when all the drunks roll in🙄😳, they should put a holding station outside with camp beds in and put them in there till they sober up and finish being sick, save ,in some cases , the violence too.

    3. Arthur and Chelsey looking at each other so sweet had me in tears 😢😢😢❤💙 they both looked like they needed to cuddle each other and cry then laugh 💙❤️
