After catching word that the next Dew Files would take place in Finland during the month of January, Dr Dew’s thoughts were, “Thank goodness it isn’t a Hawaiian shoot!” Welcome to winter biking’s most friendly city. With over 1,200 km of cycling routes, a little darkness and freezing temperatures doesn’t stop the thousands of Helsinki commuters who ride to work every day through rain, sleet, and snow. In this installment of the Dew Files, we take Kona’s intrepid bike designer into the heart of winter to find out just how hardy the Finns are. “The Finns show a great enthusiasm for life,” explains Dew. “Their warmth and hospitality made it feel like we were in Hawaii instead of being just outside the Arctic Circle.”

There has been a huuuge boost in Konas in the central finland since they opened a Kona Store here in Jyväskylä. MTB style bike is just easier around here, since even if its summer, the bike paths and roads in general aren't very smooth.
With Winter on it's way to the Northern Rivers in the coming months, spare a thought for the Finns next time you reach for your leg warmers. Oh yeah, and do it on a Kona 🙂
Nice fenders for on the bike. Looking for a steel travel bike with fenders and racks. Any Ideas of brands? Missed the chance on the Awol Transcontinentel Edition (beside the Price).
Tough guy there on the iced lake! I wonder if he is coming someday to Brazil, to ride on the Amazon Rain Forest or the rocky mountains of the south!
What fenders are on the bike, I'd like a set for my Kona.
Winter is coming, bought my Kona Lanai two months ago and I cannot even explain with words how much I love my bike! Thank you Kona you are the best ❤️
my favorite brand of bikes in my favorite Country Finland
very cool
the amount of snow is nothing compared to many places in Canada i.e. Quebec City, where I live. That is not difficult riding…
-4c is warm? Omg south east asian people can relate it
Looks like where we live in Wisconsin in January.-20 is the norm. Fat bikes hand warmers and long pants. Needs to be -10 before they start wearing shorts. Awesome in the 3 days of summer.
