Hello! I’m Walter and this is RAABERIDE! Balázs and Dávid behind the camera. And I brought you a very special car, which almost made you vomit, because not only did it almost become a Volkswagen, but it almost became an Audi. But in the end, none of them really wanted to own the project.

And this prototype car was actually put on the street thanks to Porsche, and that actually saved himself the factory from financial bankruptcy after the oil crisis. And we brought you a very special car. One of which there are nearly a thousand pieces all over the world.

And this is the Porsche 924 – Le Mans. Stay with us! So the Porsche 924. This is the car that saved Porsche after the oil crisis of 1973. to go bankrupt at all. At that time, Porsche practically produced rear- and mid-engined cars, This car was the 911, wasn’t it?

Which unfortunately already showed a decreasing trend in sales at the time, and Porsche struggled to sell a high-quality, but an authentic car for the Porsche brand. And the EA-425 prototype was presented earlier, right? which was practically the prototype model of this car,

And because of this, when the question arose as to who it should go to at all – wasn’t Porsche already part of the Volkswagen concern – then Porsche practically took on the project for 150 million euros, since neither Volkswagen nor Audi felt that how this car fits into their product range,

Besides, didn’t Volkswagen try to develop the Scirocco when and practically it is its competition. On some level, as is the Scirocco considered a sporty looking car at the time, he was eventually taken over by Porsche and it was his luck that he did, because practically this car saved the company.

This car is very, very much still a Volkswagen, but in the sense that the engine is actually a Volkswagen concern, It has Volkswagen concern chassis components, the interior also has a lot of Volkswagen-like parts and not necessarily Porsche elements, which later on, anyway, Porsche tried to take it off like this,

And they were like that the car was such a success, to improve it, improve it, and thanks to this actually later we could definitely call this car a Porsche. Production started in 1976 and lasted until 1988, so that’s 12 years.

This is quite a long time in car development and production, but they tried to polish it until until then, they tried to improve the car’s quality, enjoyment and usability, as it became a very successful model. About 150,000 units were sold in the last 12 years, right?

And many, many special editions were made during production, such as this Le Mans. The Porsche 924 was also very successful at Le Mans, isn’t it? and thanks to this they erected a memorial, because 1030 of this car – they say 1030 someone says 1003 – it depends on many things,

I think there are only 200 of these right-hand drive, and you couldn’t get it in America at all, because there was, for example, the special Martini painted Porsche, but there were many, there were unique constructions,

A lot of things, isn’t it, talkative, everything, so a lot, at Porsche this was basically what was interesting, that it was very interesting to extra this car, but what was the purpose of this car? The goal was to bring a much cheaper, more affordable car to the market than the Porsche 911,

Because otherwise, as I already said, the company would have been ruined, and this car would have cost about 10-15 thousand marks it was positioned cheaper than the 911 of the time, and this car, let’s face it, that’s why Porsche owners also deplored it, public belief itself deplored it, since it is customary then

Even after an air-cooled, rear-engined Porsche, this is a nose-engined, became an absolutely water-cooled car, and that was very strange from Porsche at the time, although it was not a foreign thing, since at that time in the 70s and 80s, this is the Grand Turismo, this form of touring car, it was absolutely popular

We also know the Japanese market, don’t we, because there was already an RX-7 there at the time, right? because in this period the reversing light was almost a part of a Grand Turismo car, like eyebrows were a part of Brezhnev,

So from then on it was practically a mandatory element, and this car absolutely stood its ground in that environment, we are talking about German precision, aren’t the Germans already producing quite precise cars,

So quality was considered important, and since we are talking about Porsche, it had to be positioned above an Audi and a Volkswagen in terms of price, I’m saying that I think it worked. In this car, practically with more performance steps, but two types of engines were sold,

This car has an engine with engine code EA 831 inherited from the Audi 100, it is a 125 hp, absolutely 2 liter engine, which is more than enough for this barrel and this weight. This car is 1130 kilos specifically, so if we compare the horsepower here, it is still an absolutely fine thing.

Unusually for Porsche, this car has a Transaxle drive, the car is rear-wheel drive, and Transaxle practically means that the gearbox is built into the gimbal, and the weight distribution is otherwise an absolutely useful thing. By the way, this was already a popular thing in Alfa Romeo, already almost 20 years ago,

But the Germans took this over, and they did it well, as the car has excellent weight distribution, but we will also talk about this in the engine compartment, because a lot of things have been built here so that this car has a good weight distribution, be a good car to drive.

It has a 5-speed manual transmission, but it was also produced with a 4-speed, and in the American market the automatic transmission was not a stranger either, in fact, the automatic transmission was absolutely supported in the American market,

You could get it with a 3-speed automatic transmission, but not this car, because it’s an absolute European model, so you couldn’t get the Le Mans. We are writing 1981, at which time the car was already considerably improved, the performance and injection ratio were increased,

And a 170, later 177 hp engine was also created, but in America, compliance with emission standards ended, they made a stupid car with around 90 horsepower, which, let’s face it, is not something worthy of a Porsche.

In 1981, this model was already very, very successful, and there was a need for a more powerful, even sportier-looking car, and that’s why Porsche threw out the 944, which can be said to be its successor, but not at the same time, because it’s actually a bit of a transition,

Because it corresponds to a sportier 924. With the same engine and even more, the Carrera was later made from the 944, not the 944, but from the 924, a turbo version, right? Carrera GT-R, so it has become quite a popular model in the competition sphere as well,

And this was important for this car, wasn’t it, so that if we are talking about a sports car, then the sporty experience should be there. The 924 Turbo became a 170 horsepower and later a 177 horsepower version, which was actually already part of the sportier model,

However, when the 944 appeared in 1981, there was practically a market competition between the two cars, the move effectively ended production of the 924 Turbo in Europe, except for one country, which was Italy.

After all, since the 944 was equipped with two and a half engines, cars over 2 liters were simply taxed so much on the Italian market,

That, unfortunately, they did not buy as much there, and that is why the 924 Turbo continued to be distributed on the Italian market, since it was equipped with a 2-liter engine, and because of this it was more necessary in Italy.

So, if you go to the used car market now, there is still a chance that you will find a 924 Turbo produced after 1981, there is every chance of that. And then things practically ran side by side, and in 1986 the 924 S appeared, which was a very, very, very improved,

It was a turbocharged, updated wrinkle seam, because the outer bar remained, but a lot of things changed with the technical content. So far, we can talk about a very successful model, and Porsche wanted to break away from the Volkswagen concern on some level.

That’s why, for example, it was possible to request it with unique developments like the one found here at the back, now here at the moment this car has an Audi rear brake,

On the other hand, this car could later be ordered with a Porsche, uniquely developed rear disc brake, which is obviously more biting, stronger, harder. This car, even though the Porsche is also unfortunately a deplorable car in its circle, and grandma’s Porsche, was treated with all kinds of sarcastic words,

I think youngtimers and veterans really like it, and that’s because it’s a relatively well-maintained vintage car. Because the supply of parts for vintage cars is often quite poor, but since there are a lot of Volkswagen and Audi parts in it, it is relatively easy to supply them,

And it’s an absolutely cheaper vintage car to maintain than a lot of its peers, and let’s face it, time makes everything better, as we get older and advance in age, we start to love these little delicacies more and more,

When driving wasn’t about stuffing everything with computers, stuffing everything with trinkets, such a design, such a decor, but we said yes, kids, we want to make a car that you can enjoy, you sit in it, you turn the key, you go and you feel good, and this car is exactly that.

You should also know about the 924 S that it already got the drive of the 944 S, which is an understandable reason, but basically they wanted to segment them separately in terms of price,

So the 944 S was a much more expensive car than the 924 S and that was fine anyway, the two cars ran parallel to each other, until 1988, when they ended the production of this car and sold 150,000 of it.

This was made at Audi’s factory in Neckarsulm and actually its production was very important in the history of Audi, especially in the history of that factory, since they would have stopped production.

Since Porsche had already designed the 928 in Weissach at that time, and they were also producing the 911, there was practically no capacity for for the 944 to enter the production line there, on the other hand, Audi had the idea at the time,

That the factory in Neckarsulm was closed and a deal was made, thanks to which Neckarsulm could produce this car on the production line of the right quality, and if we take it that way, not only Porsche got away with it, but also Audi’s factory in Neckarsulm, because since then, as we know,

Cars are still manufactured there today, and the factory is still in operation. The Porsche 924 S model, in miniature, it was already called that from 1986, was produced until 1988, when it stopped, and a total of 150,000 units were sold. That’s how legends are made…

And now meet the owner, Tibor Pallerman, who is the owner of this wonderful car. Tibi, please come here for me. Hello! Hello, I’m very, very happy to have you here, and thank you very much for bringing this wonderful car.

Well, that’s not everyday, that’s why it’s a limited series, tell me a little bit about how you came up with this, because this is really considered a really rare quantity, because as far as I know it was only produced for about two months. It was produced for two months, that’s right.

I got to it very easily, one day I opened the best-known used car portal and came across, the same day we went up to Budapest, they sold the car there, and I brought it.

It was practically impossible to leave them there in such a condition, they could be bought with such conditions that I had to bring them immediately. I think that’s why you’ve dealt with Porsches in this way before, or the idea that you want a Porsche came to mind.

So i guess when you saw this edition you knew what you were getting? Yes, I clearly knew from the start, I’m a huge Porsche fan, the 911 is actually the closest to my heart, but I’m practically omnivorous when it comes to Porsches,

And it’s really like you say that when I saw this, I knew it was a limited edition that you don’t come across on the street every day, that’s why I thought that this is an opportunity that should not be missed, that it should be bought immediately.

At first glance, the car thus appears to be in a pharmacy condition, do you know anything about its history? Do you know who owned it and under what circumstances it came here?

All I know about its history is that it was brought in from Germany by a well-known veteran in Hungary, who organizes such 1/100 competitions, he had a lot of vintage cars in recent years, I bought the car from him anyway, I don’t know much about the German owner.

So the history of the car in Germany is not quite clear, such as how many owners it had, all I know is that the car was delivered in Germany, so it is a German market car and it came to Hungary in 2011. Yes, so the Hungarian background is there, actually.

And I don’t know how much you had to deal with it like this before it got to this state, but then, according to them, if a veteran bought it before you, then I suspect that he already put all the effort into it, so that the car itself is in good condition.

Tell me a little about, if you know, what things you had to do to it, repairs, or anything that was needed to be here now with an OT license plate. I bought this with an OT license plate, so the previous owner had it OT first.

And I actually bought the car in this condition. It is worth knowing about the car that it has not been restored, its paintwork is roughly original, so I’d say that the paintwork on one of these is 85% original,

The left front fender was polished due to some minor damage, you can see in the right door that it was repaired, but roughly the car has original paintwork, it has not been restored. What I had to do several years later was a complete engine overhaul. Indeed?

Yes, but this is not due to the fact that Porsche or Audi did not produce a good quality engine, but unfortunately, a cylinder head bolt was not tightened during a previous cylinder head rebuild due to a previous installation error. Yeah, that’s good. So he worked with everything there.

Did it all depend on a screw, and did the oil work into the water, or the other way around? Yes, two cylinders worked together, I would add that this was not revealed immediately, but it took quite a while

And until then it caused such damage that a complete engine overhaul was the end of it. So the block that is in it is the original, just repaired? All original, yes. Yeah, I understand.

Because at this time, many people do what the engine is, and they put in a new one, but then there is no such problem. It has bushings, bearings, and a complete cylinder head rebuild, so practically now it has an engine with 1,500 km of mileage.

You mentioned to me, didn’t you, that this isn’t a restored car, so it has some honesty to it, and we’ve seen it before, haven’t we, that one or two pebbles are a little bit, this is a little bit, that’s why it’s on

But somehow it still gives the car this feeling, and I really have two questions about it, one of which is how well it defines its Porsche. So, we now know what we have already mentioned, that there are a lot of Volkswagen, Audi parts, engines, etc.

But how well does this fit into the Porsche palette of the time? So how do you think it fits into the medium? The thing is, this has to be seen in the context that Porsche intended this to be an entry-level car at the time.

So here it was actually a commercial positioning of it. Nevertheless, it fits perfectly into the brand’s portfolio from the point of view that it is also a typical sports car, and in my personal opinion it is a truly undeservedly underrated car. I think so too.

Porsche has these typical characteristics, which we will talk about in the interior, right? right, this is the dashboard with five dividers, which is also included in the 911, isn’t it? So there is obviously a difference in such small things.

A little bit, I think – and now I’m asking my cameraman colleagues to walk around a little bit together – we see that this is a Le Mans edition, which we have been talking about for a long time. Please, Tibor, tell me a little bit about what makes this Le Mans?

What basically differs from the standard models? What should you pay attention to, for example, if you want to buy a Le Mans? This is actually a so-called Zondar model, so this was made in a limited number of pieces, it was made for a short time, two months.

Basically, technically, it does not differ from a normal Porsche 924. There is a difference in external features and design elements. The most noticeable thing is the stickers on it. It’s only on these Le Mans, isn’t it? It was only available in this color, the so-called alpine white color.

The color Alpine white, so it was not possible to select a level either. And these rims, they were designed for this car, so to speak. The rims of the 924 Turbo have a very similar design, but they are 5-bolt, so they cannot be replaced.

In addition, there are other things in the interior that are specific to this model. The only thing on the car that is not original, that is not factory, that’s the skylight. You could never get these Porsches with such a sunroof, it was built in afterwards. This is a Happich roof window.

It was built in 1984. And the thing is, if you think about the fact that the roof of a 3-year-old Porsche was cut off with sheet metal scissors, and they put in a skylight, it’s pretty creepy. You’re not up for it today.

They don’t stand for it anymore, but it was such a common phenomenon in the 80s, so it was a standard aftermarket extra. Oh well. That practically there are no problems with it on the OT exam, because it is a period-correct accessory. Because a lot of people did that back then and after all…

And by the way, Porsche has the factory approval to install this sunroof in this model. Well, they still dared to do this to a 3-year-old car, or I don’t know, so… Yes, nowadays people don’t feel like cutting out the roof. At the time, they probably didn’t know what this car would grow into,

Or what kind of ideological value it might have, or what fandom it will have. I would like to add that it has been working perfectly since 1984 and has not gotten wet since then. Perfect, perfect. Well, that’s the point, that’s the point, that’s how it is.

Going back to the Le Mans-ness a bit here, right? but then correct that if this is not the case, then this is the rear wing of the Turbo, not exactly the Turbo, but the Turbo had a rear wing. You could ask for it as an extra on those cool basic models, right?

Or on non-Turbo 924s. Correct me if I’m wrong. To the best of my knowledge, the Turbo had this wing for the first time, however, there was a facelift in 1980, when non-Turbo models also received this wing. And that helped somewhat with aerodynamics at that time.

It’s an important thing, isn’t it? In those days, cars were not drawn in the same way as they are today. Here, engineering precision and drawing skills were important. When I think of this car, Tibor, I think of sitting in it and driving a lap on the Nordschleife.

If you can single out one thing that you think is really good about this car, that you really enjoy about it, what is it? I think that although this is usually typical of vintage cars, what modern cars don’t have is that you can feel all the mechanics, how they work in it.

Crudeness is what you mean, right? Yes, you depress the clutch. What I really like, for example, in cars of this era, or even in even older ones, is the bowden gas,

That you step on the gas and it happens immediately, it’s not e-gas, it’s not a computer, figure out what percentage the flow valve should be opened to, rather, it happens practically immediately. That’s right. And actually, starting with governance, these are all the direct things that I think are very good for this.

Absolutely, absolutely. I think that this was absolutely typical of the cars of the 70s and 80s. It was not the computers that ruled, but the developer’s creativity and the desire to make driving as good and enjoyable as possible, because we used these cars for driving back then.

What would you recommend to someone who is now saying that I want to buy a Porsche 924 because I like it, I like it, I want to get into it, what do you think, how affordable is this now?

I think that a 924 is really a problem for veterans who are looking for challenges, because from the point of view of a veteran car, this car is not a challenge at all. Not a challenge, haha.

You can get all the parts, there are a lot of parts on the shelf, you can find them immediately, but with a maximum of 1-2 days of searching. It can be found.

Some of the parts, especially those derived from Volkswagen or Audi, are available at a good price, relatively cheap, but pure Porsche development items, on the other hand, can be extremely expensive. What may be a source of problems is the Calget injection system, which was typical for German cars of this era.

So even Mercedes or other models and types were equipped with this injector. It can be maintained, but it requires maintenance, you have to find a person who knows how to do it and can set it up properly, and then it doesn’t really cause any particular problems.

So there should be a good mechanic nearby, then we can say this because someone who really understands the model, because not everyone does. Yes, I could suggest that. It’s important, it’s important, that’s right. And so, at the moment of truth, let’s see what moves this iron, please Tibor, open the deck. Phew!

I’ll leave it up to you to open it, because the opening mechanisms are slightly different in every car, so… Ladies and gentlemen, fire machine! Tibi, one thing occurred to you that I just now saw this engine compartment. He’s so honest. It’s as honest as the whole car.

So there is no this very stripped down engine block, no… So that’s how things look. That this is a used car here. Please tell me a little about the bike, what is worth knowing about it. Well, as you already mentioned, this is an Audi derivative block.

However, the cylinder head is entirely a Porsche design. So, in fact, this engine, in this condition, with this performance, was almost never found in any Volkswagen or Audi. It was just modified from the existing one. That’s right, it’s been remodeled.

Isn’t it, at that time the boxer arrangement was the authoritative one at Porsche, and this one with an in-line layout, four cylinders. So it’s basically from Porsche, because let’s start with the fact that it’s a nose engine. So this is the first Porsche with a nose engine.

So there hasn’t been anything like this before. In practice, this is such an interesting part of the matter, isn’t it? What else I noticed, and tell me a little about how it feels, if I can see it right here, the whole block is arranged a little to the left.

So it’s not in the middle of the engine. On the one hand, it is not in the middle. Actually, its weight distribution was solved by isn’t it, thanks to the Transaxle drive, the transmission is at the back, and not only the mass of the gearbox is left behind,

But the engine can be pulled all the way back. You can see that there is one cylinder in front of the front axle, all the others are in the back. Yes. So it’s very far behind. On the other hand, the engine has been laid out, and it’s pushed a little to the right.

This is an advantage for left-hand drive cars, right? that if a 75 kg driver is sitting there, it is completely balanced. In full balance, yes. Well, that’s how they invented it. So if I buy a right-hand drive Porsche now, so is it the other way around or the same way?

No, it’s the same. There, this advantage is lost. It gets lost, aha. The axle load also comes to almost 50%. Yeah, I get it, I get it. So the balance of the car is very good. And this is very important while driving. That’s right.

Because you definitely feel better how much the car lets in the corner. I think this is absolutely very important. It’s a supercharged one, if I see correctly, now it’s a SOHC engine due to its design. Is there anything else in the engine compartment that might be a little more delicate? Nothing really.

The Calget injector is a high-maintenance device that requires a specialist who really knows how to use it. In fact, all the other things are very easy, very simple to install. Let’s talk a little about the other block, which I know doesn’t really have much to do with this.

However, if you look at it, there is still plenty of room here. So it has half a bigger engine, and it actually fits. Can you say something about the 2.5 engine? Do you have any experience with that?

The 2.5 engine that the 924 S and 944 S got has nothing on earth to do with this engine. This is a completely chemically pure engine developed by Porsche, and it does not actually have a single spare part.

Well, it’s because Porsche felt so much that this car still had something extra that it didn’t want to let go of its development. and that’s why he put the money into it and put his own development into it to keep it as Porsche as possible,

And not perhaps a sporty Volkswagen or Audi, which we discussed many times in the video. They mentioned off camera that although there are very close connections with Volkswagen, that God is not actually part of the concern, only during the development there were very important collaborations,

But Porsche has always followed slightly different paths, and this is still true today because they come up with uniquely developed chassis, they put a uniquely developed engine in their cars.

Yes, the close connection is obvious, but from a marketing point of view, they try very hard to separate the brand from the vehicles and products of the Volkswagen group. If we put this car back in its own era, it was actually among the 50 hp Opel Kadets.

At that time, the first hot hatch, the Golf GTI, appeared, which practically impressed everyone with its 108 horsepower. And it was, by the way, impressive, and should be placed in this context. Moreover, at that time, the big brother, the drag model, the drag name, the 911, was not much more powerful than this,

Because now I won’t be able to give an exact number, but it was around 150-160 horsepower, maybe 180 with updates for different vintages. Well, yes, what you said is a context, what kind of cars were there at the time and with what performance.

It is absolutely important to put this in context, on the one hand, and on the other hand, not to forget that and that’s why Porsche has such great success in the racing world that not only did they get 125 horsepower out of this block,

But as we looked at it, even in such a competition, they started with this engine all the way, it was like that. So that’s why, or if not with this, then definitely with the 2.5, and that’s why they pushed it to 400 horsepower, right?

Well, the 924 engine at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is practically the same EA 831 engine, and it was taken from that. Obviously, with a different cylinder head, different controls, and a huge turbo, but 400 horsepower could be extracted from this engine. It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter, so…

And that engine survived a 24-hour race, so you can’t even say that… And it didn’t bother me, I got it! Well, I think we should start coming back then, I see a lot of stickers are up here. Both here and on the side. I see that you go to meetings. Yes, that is.

However, it turns out that way. Also, it was noticeable here that there is a sticker here, it is stuck on the inside. I can clearly see that there will be some kind of warning. That’s right, this first owner warned him not to overload the car during break-in and to handle it with care.

Well, it was 43 years ago that this sticker was relevant, and now with me since the engine rebuild. Well, yes, by the way, right, because the tendency in America is to write on everything what to put in it. Yes. Don’t do it, don’t reach here, don’t reach there, because you have to…

But at least we know to be careful with this. That’s why it’s good to show up at such meetings with this car, and it just became apparent that there is a signature here.

If I understand correctly, can you tell me a little bit about whose signature this is exactly and why it is here? Yes, these meetings are practically the backbone of using the car, so I practically use it to go hiking with him.

Austria is close, isn’t it, and there are very good events within reach. In Tulln, there is usually such a vintage car gathering every year, isn’t it, the Elstar Classic.

I would like to add that these are actually races and I will not start, because, for example, at the Elstar Classic, 1972 is, as far as I know, the youngest car that can participate. In addition, there are quite hefty prizes, but we used to go to these events, for many years now,

And there you can run into people connected to Porsche, either racers or people connected to Porsche from other contexts, as we can see here, he is Derek Bell, a five-time Le Mans winning driver, he is Fritz Enzinger, and he was the team boss of the Porsche Le Mans team.

That whole thing! That whole thing! There is one from the front, if I saw correctly, are there the same signatures from the front as well? From here, and he is the signature of Dr. Wolfgang Porsche.

You don’t say it, it’s unbelievable! All that! Well, this already gives you one of those, if only for that reason it’s good to come with this, that you gently point out that I already have one.

By the way, Derek Bell literally told me that this is one of the best balanced cars he’s ever driven in his life. Indeed? Incredible! Well, it will become clear while driving, but it is probably the case anyway, we believe the old people and the regulars.

And now we move a little to the back of the car. I know the sticker is not original, but they are commemorating that this is the Le Mans edition.

Because as far as I know, on the Le Mans version, this sticker runs all the way, and underneath there are extra stickers, widenings, and such. Yes, this contest is related to painting. Did you inherit this from there?

Exactly, maybe it’s worth talking more if it’s already been found here why this car is white and why the competition 924 is white. And why white?

The reason for this is that at the dawn of car racing, at the first Le Mans races, it was not really teams competing against each other, but nations.

And colors were assigned to each nation by convention, the British had green, that’s why British racing green, the Italians had red, that’s why Ferraris are red, the French had blue, Bugatti and Alpines, right. So these paintings are echoed even now, and the Germans got the white level.

Now, the question arises, why weren’t the Mercedes, the legendary Mercedes, the silver arrows, white, because there was once a weight problem with the car. And they stripped the paint off the car, and that’s why they became silver arrows, that’s right. Those cars were not actually polished, but the aluminum body –

The full bodé, so it was completely the bodé, and it wasn’t on, that’s how it is. Since then, it has been a tradition that, in fact, these are the competition paint jobs for German cars, right? White and silver. You don’t have to go far, BMW is the same. That’s right.

BMW is the same, so their touring cars there are usually all white, so the ones they raced with. We get a very large glass surface and I know that the main function of this car is not necessarily packability, but we have a relatively large trunk.

What do you know about these dimensions and how useful the trunk is? As far as I know, the luggage compartment is 250 liters in its normal state, and if you fold the seatback forward, it can be expanded to 500 liters. It’s serious, it’s very serious. And can it be folded flat?

It can be folded flat, and actually this is the best function of this rear seat, because it is not suitable with everything else. Well, I imagine you’re not too scared in the back. You could practically plant a low-growing, amputated pygmy in the back. Er… unfit for human habitation.

This is good. Well, yes, but that’s not what these are for. Shall we open the trunk? Let’s take a look at what we can find in here. Good little mechanics and telescope. Very important. With retractable blinds.

However, if we look at it now, it should be compared to a Grand Turismo in its category, it is a large trunk. Left nicely wide, so there are no wheel arches. You can see here, the wheel drum is actually here, but here it is wide, so it can fit quite a lot.

And there are also such secret compartments, for example, a soccer ball can fit here. Yeah, that’s amazing. This can be packed very, very deep into it, it can be packed very deep. Here I see that there are a couple of official documents or related treatment books. Actually, there are brochures here.

Perhaps the most interesting is this brochure, which was practically displayed in car dealerships. And here you can see that this is the racing car itself, in honor of which this… You can see the widenings and these extra splices here. The car is much wider this way, how much different otherwise.

This is the raw racing car without the racing paint, and then you can see the race-prepared car here. You can see here, sorry before you turn the page, that the original German stripe is also visible here, this is the Le Mans stripe. That’s right, that’s right. And it’s on this car too.

That’s right, it echoes on this car, and then you can see here what the car itself looks like. This is very clever. Here is a list of what we talked about, which are specific to this model,

The decals, the rims, the upholstery pattern in the interior, the leather steering wheel, the leather gear knob. We talked about the roof window, didn’t we, that this is a retrofit, and then it’s practically a manufacturer’s prospectus, but the fact that it has remained so since 1983 is practically…

Is this the original, absolutely original? Yes, this is completely original, this is the operating manual, installation guide for the skylight, and then you can see here that you have the permit procedure and the original drawing of the skylight, and this includes the authorization procedure of the authority and the goodwill of the manufacturer.

Incredible. This is practically TÜV, isn’t it? Yes Yes. Practically, this includes Porsche agreeing that this type of sunroof can be installed in this car. Yeah, I get it, I get it. Before we get into the car, a little thing to note,

Right, we don’t find any handbrake in the middle, it’s here on the left. In practice, it’s here on the left, it’s a little unusual for me, but it’s not stupid. Here we continue to direct the air, it practically comes through the entire door here,

It goes in the back, and thus the rear tract can also be ventilated. It’s incredibly creative. There are plushies everywhere, in the part where there is no other upholstery, this was absolutely characteristic of the eighties anyway. I have to say that the seats are in good condition, they are not out of place,

But you can absolutely feel the real leather in it, this is really not the period of artificial leather yet, it’s not the time when you have to make leather out of all the crap, to sell it as leather, but it was really leather. Let’s sit down!

It’s a heavy door, heavy iron, but sitting inside like this, I have to say, that there are huge differences compared to the 911, although this is not entirely the case, since, for example, this model inherited this seat from the 911, and this upholstery, this wonderful seat cover called special Nadelstreifen,

By the way, very comfortable, very comfortable, and as we sit here, you immediately get the feeling that this is a deep-built, good little touring car, quite a bit lying down in it. So long as it is a very big difference, the government itself also came through 911, right?

So this was also installed in 911s, but there is not, for example, this five-segment instrument panel, as is found in 911s. It is basically equipped with three speakers, and isn’t the very interesting feature of this car beyond that, how it was possible to install electric mirrors and electric windows.

For example, here is the embossed Porsche inscription on the door, is practically extremely rare, extremely rare, and this makes the interior of such a car very, very special. In the middle, we basically see the elements that were also installed in the Volkswagens of the time,

So here in the interior, here are the things that come out that we can say that it is no coincidence that there is close cooperation with Volkswagen, but what is very important and I really liked this is the radio that Tibor told me was full factory,

But this is a radio specifically made for vintage cars, and if the camera comes a little closer, then I can also show that if I turn this on now, then you push out the antenna and the old Porsche logo appears on the display,

Which still says Porsche in gold, and not in black like the later ones. This is a completely factory display, you can switch on navi, everything is made for this car. Here is the thermostat adjuster, which is the classic drag-and-drop method, almost reminiscent of Japanese cars, these sliding buttons were typical there as well.

There are oil pressure gauges, there are regular clocks that are not timing clocks, but it’s good that we have such a small quartz clock in the middle, as well as the battery voltage meter. This car actually has so much that it needs to have, because that’s what this car is about.

You sit in it, turn the key, and speaking of keys, it’s well known at Porsche, isn’t it, that the ignition key is usually on the left side, which was very important from the point of view of racing,

Didn’t it at the time when they left for the races, it looked like the racers ran up to the car, and they started like that, and when they got into the car, they were able to turn on the ignition right away.

That’s why the starter was placed on the left and not on the right. It is classically on the right side here, as with most cars. 5-speed well driven, so if I press the clutch now,

Then it’s nice, it doesn’t hang so much, it’s completely appropriate for its age, it’s good hard, but it’s a mechanical shifter. That’s when he puts himself where he needs to be. I’m not saying that we’re luxuriating in the storage compartment.

Here is a beautiful glove box with a cassette in it, on the side, so the door can fit a symbolic amount of things, but it does. And what is the advantage of curved windows, which we have already discussed? It won’t spoil.

According to Tibor, nobody really fits in the back seat, and that’s true. So I will probably buy a bigger child seat for my baby in April, as there is not so much space in the back. It’s ideal for two people, and I think it’s fine the way it is.

Let’s go for a ride. Well, what’s the denial when I say that I’ve wanted to sit in such a car for a long time, because I was with the Porsche 944 that year, playing with it in a game called Need for Speed Unleashed,

And it was my favorite car and since it is in some way considered the predecessor of this one, I think that’s why this is such a big milestone in my life, which makes me especially happy.

I’m not saying that this is a vehicle blessed with an extremely hard chassis, it’s a perfectly usable car, and I understand the fandom that now surrounds this whole car, because it’s really incredible, so the materials are very good, at the time it was made

I think it was a perfectly fine thing to do. And I also understand that of course they say it was cheaper, like the 911, it wasn’t as premium, but let’s say it’s perfectly fine here, so it’s a perfectly good car to enjoy.

In the meantime, a small technical glitch happened, which unfortunately happens if so how old is the car, how old is it? He is 43 years old. It’s 43 years old, so if I’m doing the math right, it’s a 1980 model, that’s right.

We are writing 1980, it may happen after all this time that the reversing light does not open. It’s like this, unfortunately, that’s all that should happen on a shoot like this, but when I say that a person gets into such a car,

And wants to withdraw from the world, then he gives the way with this. I don’t want to describe this car at all, so yes, it really brakes you have to kick him hard, I understand what you said. This was a good idea from Porsche, it absolutely had to be done. It’s loud though.

We talked about this, didn’t we, that it’s actually 125 horsepower, but you don’t feel that it’s not enough at all. I think it moves perfectly well, I think it carries this bodywork well. Mere numbers alone do not show much because now, as far as I know, such a nine-second acceleration…

It has an acceleration of nine and a half seconds from zero to 100, well, it doesn’t look like steel, but sitting in it like that… I think the car moves perfectly well, it’s enjoyable, and it runs well. And the way the metal rattles like that, dear God,

It’s so much, you can feel the iron, you can feel the material in it, so that this is when I still say that the mechanics work, no electronics, no servo, hard to rotate, obviously he’ll soften up when he’s on the road with him,

When you have to turn, it’s a little difficult, but oh my god so really… Incredible. Very, very, very good. Obviously we don’t glass it, because the car is not ours, and it has summer tires, because that’s why we admit that with this, mainly in the summer, you travel in the summer.

Yes, there is a very good Hungarian Porsche community, this is the Porsche Front Engined Club, in fact, he directly focused on these transaxle cars this club, and I can’t tell you how many of us there are, but the number of members is a few dozen, a few dozen,

And we used to organize such joint tours. And I think there are modern Porsches, old Porsches, so a mix… Anyone who wants to come is not excluded, they can come with any car, so there is no such thing, but mostly 924, 944, 968, 928, so this is the transaxle line.

And since you said transaxle like that, sorry to interrupt you… but how practically… this is amazing so… they only interrupted, don’t be angry, because transaxle one would think how imprecise. The shifter is in the back, and it has a very good shifter.

His transmission is very good, so that he is very well driven, obviously you have to force it a little bit into the stage, It goes in and doesn’t get stuck, it’s easy to change it, and you can change quickly, and this is what we say at Alfa Romeo

They can’t tell someone who drove a car with a transaxle. Relatively compared to the fact that a rod really reaches back and you replace it with so I think it’s perfect. And by the way, what do you think about the gas, which we talked about, that it reacts immediately? Well, that’s instant.

Very, very good, and I’ll take it like that, I say so now let’s go there a bit, we slow down a bit to make room for fun and entertainment, then I’ll grab a second one. What is the down-regulation revolution?

I don’t think it regulates but it spins as much as it can, so maybe 6250, i think the red field. Dear God, that’s why I hear that there is something at the exhaust, there is a drum, or something vibrates a little there, but it has to, because it scratches.

I think the exhaust end at a certain frequency you pick up some unwanted resonance. In the meantime, I’m experimenting with the lamp, but… Now that doesn’t want the truth. No, unfortunately, it’s worth a try anyway. It’s amazing, and I haven’t even given him the fifth, but otherwise it feels really, really good.

Good, overtake me, overtake me, I feel good. This is the most important. You don’t want to rush, no. The goal is not to get somewhere with it, but the path you take. That’s right, that’s right. Obviously you can do this quickly, you can do it slowly,

You can do it very comfortably, you can do it a bit sporty. The most important thing is to enjoy it! And this car can be enjoyed, this car can be loved. And I mean seriously, it’s an investment that which is worth dealing with. Really, anyone who wants to get a taste of this,

I think this is a good starting point. And it can be bought for a fraction of the price of a 911! How, how, how. I’m getting over that magical 75 kilos because I’m 90, obviously this doesn’t divide or multiply that much anymore, but the balance of the car is noticeably good.

So he wants to work for that. Very good! Well, that’s incredible! Even after all these years, he still wants his. I’ve been waiting for this for 28 years! 28 years! And now I got it! Brilliant! By the way, the car was given all sorts of nicknames at the time, right?

When it appeared that it was “Housefrau Porsche”. “Housefrau” – housewife Porsche. Yes Yes Yes. I really don’t feel that in this car, because you have to be mechanical in it, and everything is quite raw. That’s right, it’s worth buying. It can even be maintained under cultured conditions.

And this is what you get in return. The price will not go down. That’s for sure. It is certain that the price will not go down. The RS Octavia tried to show itself. But this voice! This can’t be imitated very much! It was a very good experience.

As the wise German would say: “Ich bin nicht über den Berg.” I’m not over the mountain yet. I hope that there are many similar we will test an exciting car on this channel. I feel like this is a perfect end to this year.

    1. Gratula a videóhoz srácok!

    2. Szia nagyon jó videó lett . Nekem 924s em van teljesen fel lett ujitva . Most otthon van levezettem vele a London Magyarország távot 2 nap alatt . Ha videot szeretnél irj és megmutatom szivesen.

    3. Jó anyag! Néhol van benne egy kis kuszaság, de ez más nagyobb csatornákkal is előfordul.
Kanyarodtál is vele?
