A bike ride in Reykjavik, Iceland along four raised cycle tracks in late September 2021.
We start on Borgartún which has a one-way raised cycle track on each side of the street. We do as the locals do and make use of the sidewalk where gaps exist to connect between cycle tracks. This is legal in Iceland as long as you keep your speed low and provide room for pedestrians. Towards the end of the raised cycle track we pass a painted piece of the Berlin Wall, then pass electric vehicle charging stations and end at Höfði House. Höfði House served as the location for the 1986 Reykjavik Summit meeting between United States of America President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Union General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev.
Next we continue the ride along Hverfisgata which also has one-way raised cycle tracks on both sides of the street. This street also has a 30km speed limit, ample bike parking, crosswalks and floating bus stops.
Following that we ride a portion of the Laugavegur cycle track which is located just East of the pedestrianized section of the street featured in one of our earlier videos.
The last clip shows the Lækjargata raised cycle track parallel to the bus lane with the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre in the distance.
