Bicycle Vlog 9: ‘Man Walks into Our Tent’ – In our efforts to cycle across the border from Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina the road gets blocked time and time again. We decide to put in some extra miles to the official crossing, night falls in and we have to make a flash camp. Only to be visited in the middle of the night… During this stretch we seek shelter in a tiny house, find an amazing camp spot and tackle ‘Steep Mountain’!

To see, feel, smell, hear and taste everything the road has to offer will be so much different than watching a documentary or reading a book about it. Sometimes it will be difficult and most of the time fantastic. We hope you will find some inspiration in our video’s and maybe fuel your dreams as so many other have done for us.

And now we’re gonna get down this doesn’t look too promising you know we don’t like this all kinds of heavy trucks and they’re passing each other so we decided not to do the freeway thing it’s 11 kilometers back but sometimes you got to take this loss and then safety first

Okay so we’re approaching Bosnia and Herzegovina Marty talked to some older people they told her it could be a little difficult turns out it’s only a cargo crossing we cycled only six kilometers if we go down like effective kilometers to our destination fortunately Found the perfect chilling place it’s just absolutely perfect super relaxing spot a little bit later on we’re gonna probably take a dip in this little stream over here freshen up we were ready for a midday nap and suddenly thunder in the sky get a broom clean it all out get the

Crafty off the walls make a nice window here and a little bit would be a perfect tiny house all right we’re ready to go we had a little bite to eat and now we’re gonna head out to the border that’s right it’s unbelievable but see it was a

Roadblock and these two Croatian guys told us the bridge is taken away you know oh wow there’s a wild animals and they dig the bridges and it’s like somebody’s vegetable garden it’s impossible I don’t see it happening it’s really I guess we have to cycle back now

Oh joy oh joy that’s my favorite see you at the next border episode we’re just a kilometres before the border we just decided to camp here on the road we were ready for bed and we were just chatting to each other there was a man standing outside and I was really thinking okay It was really it was a really scary situation and foul that is his name he said there could be people coming with cars so we could be a run over okay we’re now in Paul’s garden and we hope that we can get over there quick you probably walked this road for like 20

Years oh yeah and yeah so tomorrow morning we’re gonna show you the view of where we are we really don’t know where we are we’re close to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina the crazy border crossers we’re now in false garden and of course we hope here’s some very nice breakfast

Coffee for us now no joking Eric is just boiling the water for coffee and breakfast what a beautiful place it is show you around sun’s just coming up behind the mounts over there we’re heading out to bosnia-herzegovina new country new horizons they’re a lot its culture named for very steep mountain and another

Mountain is order itself although it means mountain where the Eagles please this is it guys the border crossing let’s hope we make it so now we’re often to Bosnia Herzegovina and the difficult border crossing was just very easy just a minute and the guy was very nice and

Now we’re off to Marty’s favorite bit of the day yeah here we go cycling up steep mountain so far luckily the gradient isn’t that difficult oh look Marie’s also making a vlog let’s see if we can die in these flocks together it’s pretty good like luck styling double timing

Now here at the top of the steep mountain was not too bad actually the view is just magnificent over here these amazing mountains from here we’re going to muster a couple of days and then for us it’s a week of relaxing so we are very much looking forward to that

    1. Fantastic guys, keep going as the body will take more than the mind says it can. Good idea to stay off those busy roads, even if it makes the journey longer. If Eric gets his coffee, he can get a boost for the day 😁.
Looking forward to #10, all the best. Be safe.

    2. Hello Eric and Maudi, at first congrats with your youngest brother Eric, he went 33 today and had dinner at my house. He told about the new video so I had to watch ofcourse! And what a pleasant watch it was, as usual. Again I'm happy to have a look in your bike-tour "kitchen"! It makes me feel proud and a bit jealous also, and it keeps me sleeping without a lot of worries. The whole tour on video so far is a kind of experiencing the journey myself and I love both your edeting skills. Also the music made by Roelant is a great addition to your movies! Thank you guys for letting us enjoy the whole trip. Take care, stay safe and enjoy yourself on your journey! Love you both!!

    3. Hi guys, you're doing a wonderful job with the video's and your website. Love it! Would love to have your GPS track if you have one. I cycled last summer to the South of Spain from the Netherlands and planning to cycle to Croatia next spring. You make me nervous… cannot wait to jump on my bicycle again. I see you're always stealth camping. Never had any problems with that? I travel alone and I don't know if I would sleep well…..Well have a wonderful trip. I will keep following you.

    4. Thanks again for such a great video! BTW I would have freaked right out if somebody approached my tent in the darkness! You seemed to have handled it well. Cheers.

    5. Documenting your trip from two different filmmakers into one episode is a brilliant idea that makes your videos really stand out 😀

    6. Echt geweldig om te zien! Inspireert om mijn eigen koga (traveller) eens wat verder te rijden dan een rondje Rotterdam. Schitterend om de Balkan zo van dichtbij te kunnen beleven.

    7. When ever I travel am concerned about security. I am also unsecured about very lonely places. And you as a couple travel in unknown places, new countries …How did you overcome this fear ?
