The update City skylines 2 before we go into I’ll let you guys choose whether we do transport fever first or respond or react to my first video um but let’s take a look at the article momentarily oh I almost ended the stream that would have been a problem so
Basically there was an article and I’ll I’ll drop you guys a link to this in both twitch and YouTube uh I’m G to try anyway on YouTube I’m screwing up there we go there we go so you all have a link to the article now so basically I’ve been asked to to
Interview for a variety of Articles going back to the release of City skylines 2o I was asked to do a variety of things including review the game at one point from a major publication things that would have made 12-year-old Phil’s heart fill with joy and like just
Go crazy but I turned most of them down for a couple of reasons uh first and foremost I was interviewed a lot in my planning career and it’s been really nice to get away from that uh and then secondly it felt like a a bit of a a
Conflict and I it felt like some of the people who were trying to interview me never watched my content never knew the community and were just kind of there and this person actually reached out and seemed to have watched the content and uh known a bit about the community which
Is why I was interested in it so um basically I know that I’ve seen videos reacting to this article saying that I’m blasting colossal order things of that nature that’s not necessarily the case but my main thought process behind this whole thing was I really think that what
I hear I’m in a weird spot where I hear from a ton of you asking or basically giving me your feedback on City skylines 2 in the launch of the game and a whole bunch of other uh feedback about the game yeah oh no gaming drama and what I hear more than most
Anybody from from what I’m what I’ve hear from almost everybody is people are disappointed um lots of people are having fun with the game lots of people are disappointed lots of people wish the Colossal order would say they’re sorry and try to find some way to make amends
So that was my main thought process here um and you know I’m I’m one of those people who was also disappointed so I I think that I was hoping that the release of City skylines 2 would be this big joyous occasion where we all come together and celebrate a game that we
All love and a genre that really only has City skylines uh in City skylines 2 is kind of the pillars of it so um yeah definitely disappointed uh the toxicity I know that I I have seen in the Paradox forums for instance that maybe I’ve cultivated a nicer audience because all
Of you guys are super nice uh so I’m not seeing it in the same way um but from what I’ve seen it’s mostly been disappointment so I I wanted to get that out there it’s difficult like I I’m not I don’t have a direct line of communication with anyone at Colossal
Order to to to relay this kind of feedback so if there’s any place this is the one spot where I decided you know what I’m just going to say it I I’ll give my experiences and uh hopefully hopefully it represented the way that people feel well um but I do think that
We’re moving in the right direction with the game and I just I keep hoping that they’re able to fix it fast enough to keep people interested so yeah and I do see I I saw a couple comments and they’re saying that there are some creators who are giving up on the game
Or pulling back now that that kind of leads me into the second thing I wanted to talk a little bit about and that’s really kind of my experience uh with the update so I’ve been having issues with my game too so like it’s not it’s not that I’m special and I’m not experiencing
Bugs I was having the cargo issues those are now resolved but now I have the land value bug so that’s across all my saves including the save that we’ve been playing here on stream so because IX mixed uses so well the land value in the oldest part of the
Community has gone through the roof so um yeah that’s my main issue at this point I I think for me it’s the lack of assets and then that land value bug is just brutal when that’s resolved I think it’ll be it’ll be great um but the performance has improved I think that
Things are generally better uh it’s just it’s those couple of things so I’m looking forward to official mod support coming out I’m looking forward to uh uh continuing these but you’re going to also see me until mod support and this big land value bug gets tamped out I’m
Not going to stop my city skylines 2 content it seems like all of you really enjoy it I enjoy doing it as well but I am going to be mixing other content in more regularly because I don’t want to inadvertently break my save so tomorrow for instance we’re going to have another
News cycle video uh next weekend we’re going to have clear water County so that’s going to make a comeback and then we’re also going to take a look at some other other city building games that uh maybe I’ve looked at in the past it’s been a while so yeah we’ll we’ll see um
But for my perspective City skylines 2 is is kind of a we might do some timberborn we might do some timberborn yeah Clear Water count is coming back we’ve got at least two builds in Clearwater County that I want to take care of get at least one in Nicola Bay
So I want to wrap these up and I want to do it right um but I guess the reason why maybe I haven’t been as disappointed as some other folks is that I look at City skyline as the conduit to tell a story that I want to tell and when I initially
Started the channel my goal was just to obviously the the very first video that we’ll watch in a little bit the whole goal was to edit videos learn how to do that uh and then it evolved into I’ll just show you how I play the game and
Then my my play style evolved and I got more into the storytelling which is something that I was doing without really thinking about it and that’s kind of where I really that’s where that’s where that’s where it’s taken me the content creation Journey so with that in mind mind City
Skylines 2 is more like a canvas to me and I want to be able to play and tell my story without the canvas punching me in the face and right now every now and then the canvas punches me in the face and says you’ve got low land value or or
Youve got high land value and nobody can afford to live here and there’s two children living in a house with a dog and they can’t afford their single family house so yes that’s that’s that’s kind of where we’re at uh transport so the other thing is I might lean more
Into uh streaming a little bit more so the one thing that I’ve noticed is the other videos I do because I’m not crafting that story uh so I see a bunch of people saying Foundation uh transport fever the reason why I I might do a bit more of that or
Maybe do more of that on stream is it is much easier for me to create those videos than it is for me to make a city skylines video because of the story I I script out a whole bunch of stuff I spend a ton of time on each of those
Videos so we’ll see it’s not to say that I don’t spend time on the other ones it’s just considerably easier so um yeah and the detailing I I do think a lot of creators are are disappointed in the detailing aspect of City skylines too and that’s why I took
Mods and I said you know what I’ve got to do something because it uh it’s certainly uh it’s certainly a the game has felt like every City’s the same so once I was able to to actually bring in some assets and Prof and play like I like to
Play it really made things they really changed things for me would I ever consider making story based videos for other games maybe um it’s tough the other games that I play already have stories so that’s one of the things I was really hoping that City skylines 2 would do like the
Scenarios there’s no scenarios at all which I think is pretty disappointing um Diana I watched your video I watched your video I’m I’m happy you’re here and I I appreciate your video and I totally expect respect what you’re up to and I I I totally get it uh have I seen Sully’s decorating
Sully is next level all of Sully’s videos have been inspirational Q boy thank you for being here thank you so much so that those are kind of my that’s that’s those are kind of my thoughts and perspective um and definitely go check out Diana’s Channel if you haven’t

Okay so if I do City skylines 1 again could you make another series like Verde Beach I don’t know about that I don’t know about that I you know here’s the thing hold on you guys are going to you’re going to distract me again back to you’re going to pull me back into
This conversation so here’s my honest feelings about City skylines 1 now and here’s where I feel conflicted and I think where a lot of people feel conflicted because you can see that the concurrent player value uh for City skylines 1 plus City skylines 2 is lower than it was for City skylines 1
Pre-release I feel like I’m playing a retro game when I play City skylines 1 now which is my problem so I want to play I want to play City skylines one but the road tools are so bad that it it just feels like I’m going back in time
So I don’t know I starting a new series is a big commitment especially if I don’t think I’m going to keep playing it and ultimately what’ll happen is I fully believe they’re going to fix City skylines too at some point and then we are going to not want to
Play City skylines one anymore so yeah scadal you can’t go back I can’t either uh not in that big of a way so yeah it’s it’s tough like you know I think about all the node controller finagling and and line drawing lines in the road and like I just don’t miss it I
Don’t miss it so yeah that’s that’s where I’m at uh uh maybe alron and Company can make some uh CS2 Road tools for cs1 that’s a big ask that’s a big ask yeah and I like yeah so that’s kind of where my head’s at I I think if I slow things down and

Guess okay there we go so this was my second microphone and I bought this after I had a whole bunch of problems with that tonar microphone so I bought this microphone on Amazon and I want to say let me see if I can find it one
Second uh it was an Amazon microphone it was 40 bucks and I remember I remember thinking this is it now that I’ve got this microphone all of my problems are solved for whatever reason I can’t type not my mic did my Mount oh my goodness I think that my uh
Uh I might have a problem with my keyboard right now it might be dead so might yeah so then I upgraded I I’ll worry about that later uh but basically I updated to the Blue Yeti and that’s what I used for probably the first hundred or so videos and then I ended up
Going over and getting a an interface XLR interface and switched over to the Pod mic and the moment I did this there were a ton of complaints basically that my voice had no more bass so this is a this feels like a great microphone I think it’s great for some people it wasn’t
Good for me but anything was better than the microphone in this video so uh I was completely accurate I I was a planner for a suburban community at this point in time it ended up changing at one point I never mentioned that in a video but I ended up getting a different job
Halfway through right now I’m using a sh sm7b and I yeah great microphone great microphone so this this this video so this one doesn’t sound too bad the video number two is the one that was bad this one’s XLR uh and let me see I will switch over to camera

That’s really good I’m going to try to to to respect reality as much as I can CU there are certain things in here that are just not realistic like um for instance putting U underneath someone’s house like we just would never do that um they’d have to have an easement
Through their house and we could theoretically demolish their house to uh to maintain a water man not going to happen so I’m going try to keep it realistic um and U just so you guys know I’m not going to uh avoid mods I do have
A number of mods on here I have Mone it took me a minute and 45 seconds to stop rambling and you guys follow you guys still listen to this uh yeah uh respect reality not topography yeah so the funny thing is before this like all my builds I never
Really thought about planning I thought about like just like simple uh parts of planning but I wouldn’t say that I was necessarily constraining myself in the way yeah it was yeah not good you think the rambling is why you watch I do ramble a [Laughter] lot here I think it really enhances the
Gameplay um and in some cases makes it more realistic um that’s said I’m on a really interesting map uh one of the things I really enjoy about this map um took take a look there’s Bluffs with um okay okay I want to go back for a second
So this map is based on Chattanooga Tennessee uh it’s by Scotland Tom and I really like Scotland Tom’s Maps um out there is actually where Chattanooga is so we uh we’re actually building in the middle of a park in this map which is why it’s such a challenging map probably not the
Best map to choose for this series not great uh RC rce has the same energy I definitely more polished I’ve never watched RC’s first video I should uh you watch this during the long hours of the night with new boards you saw the the pace of the old videos the pace was
Helpful uh you’re new to the channel but you think the rambl didn’t change no but it’s different this is really rambly Let’s uh call this Bluff side Crossing wow that was that was one and a half times speed Bluff side Crossing I like that um so due to
The unique topography we’re going to need to make sure that we can get down from this Bluff we don’t get stuck up here and we also want to plan for what this roadway network is going to look like in the future obviously right now um we really only have access to either
My modded roads or the uh the basic default roads so because of that you notice I didn’t turn on I didn’t turn on the terrain view I’m not thinking about the to topography at all I’m thinking that I need to get down the hill but that’s about it I do have more
Concise rambling now and that’s because I plan everything out so when I when I come up with a video I actually um yeah I mean I have different sections and yeah it’s it’s definitely more well thought out so for the first I’d say 100 videos on the channel I just kind of sat
Down and would just build something and then I thought about all the other stuff afterwards like what what was this about what did I do oh yeah I built a tram so like we need something about that yeah not not good you keep a CPP topography pillow as a reminder love it
I did see I did see the lonus video with bffa we’re going to want to be extra careful about uh these initial roads the funny thing is I find that these initial roads can really set the tone for the design of your city in total and that’s
Not all that far off from real life oh you’ll see this when you look at at city’s that their original development pattern sets the tone for what’s happens in the future so I want to be cognant of that generally when these older cities are developed you know that that won’t
Be the case the original developers won’t sitting there thinking oh boy if we get this wrong we’re going to be stuck with this for 200 years but that’s the reality roads so I totally agree with everything I’m saying but I am clearly making terrible roads as I do it
They’re all straight just going straight down the hill makes no sense yeah pre-grade I yeah yeah this is not good and right of white generally don’t move unless something really exceptional happens or some program is established that really changes things oh okay so we have that we have our way into the city
We have our way down to the bluff I did a couple things here I made this te so this in the future is going to be an arterial Road that’s going to be one of the bigger uh six Lane roads oh we do have access to that right off the bat
I’m not going to spend the money now it’s probably not the best use of our money but uh so how long I have I been playing the game at this point I think at this point I had like 2,000 hours in and uh that doesn’t mean that I was
Good at the the game I I I I I enjoyed the game so before this I played a couple of games when I watched YouTube or um watch Netflix on my so I i’ dual monitors set up and I’d watch bffa on one and I’d build in the other or I’d W
Watch Netflix or anything else yeah it’s it’s uh this is not good yeah speed down the hills might be harder to get back up I’m this isn’t even the worst part I think I know what I did next and it was not good I I want to say that I
Converted this immediately to be a six Lane Road and I don’t know what I was thinking cuz this is terrible uh when I fixed yeah yeah this is yeah I I eventually I redid some of these in the fix video but I that’s actually I never finished that
Fix I do think it’s important that we have a plan for what this will be in the future uh so let’s see where the best place to put this will be so this is going to be the main drain on the terrain view man what are you doing I’m going to put it
In a place that makes some sense so I have a way down to the river this is important because we’re going to need both water treatment and a water pump now I want to avoid yeah so yeah I was trying to think ahead but I have this tendency and you
Can see it throughout all my builds where Lee Hawkins is just disgusted right now I so I’ve actually talked to Lee about this and he I i’ I’d love to sometime Lee and I will have to to chat on stream or something like that and uh I remember he he
Mentioned to me that this this this whole bit video baffled him and sometimes I get stuck in my own head and I start to think about something and I get tunnel vision and that’s the worst thing that you can do uh whether you’re planning in real life or you are
Building in this game it’s just not good uh do I think the story different approach when Verde Beach uh I accidentally did it in the first couple episodes of Verde Beach and people in the comments were saying I love what you’re doing so yeah um I kind
Of thought more about it then and really leaned into it you love to see Lee repairing Bluffside Crossing uh I wouldn’t say I mean when I say accidentally I mean that I was thinking about it and I mentioned uh basically I started I just started doing
It and people said I was doing it and then it made me realize that I was doing it otherwise I didn’t realize I was doing it if at all possible having uh something that skews the water the waste water down in the water I always find
That to be a funny option clearly that’s something that you know in 2020 cities will try to avoid at any cost at least we underneath I can’t imagine any US city uh dumping untreated water into the river at this point in time but I guess maybe there’s some if you know one let

Follower since Bluffside 5 so you miss this one so you get to see Lee is good stuff I love Lee um okay so we have this Main Road into the city trying to think if I actually want to upgrade this right off the bat maybe maybe somewh let’s so I’m I’m debating
This because ultimately I would like to follow a street hierarchy that makes sense and uh oh gosh one of the key things to think about with transportation is you have different classifications of Road you’re generally going from a road that is meant to move Regional traffic to a road that’s meant
To to move traffic a long distance and then a road that’s meant to disperse traffic within your this was both expensive and very Suburban like I I think I think this is a reflection of where I was working at the time um so yes hierarchy exists
Hierarchy you don’t have to focus on the number of lanes uh hierarchy you could have a whole bunch of two-lane roads uh and you’ll have hierarchy that exists within there based upon how much access is being given to and from those roads so this was an unforced error where I
Got Tunnel Vision on the hierarchy that I was actively working on uh was it a big moment for me to see B Biff’s comment I was shocked like so I didn’t tell my wife about the channel until I hit 200 subscribers and I remember like telling
Her I was it was dinner and I was like Hey so honey I just started recording myself at night when you’ve been studying and uh uh I put it on YouTube and there’s 200 people that want to watch me how why why would anyone want
To do like that’s wild I think about how many people that is uh it could fill up an auditorium that’s just just wild to think about um and then seeing Biff’s comment I was like wow this is a dude that I’ve been watching for years and he
Watched what I’m doing and it’s way worse than what he’s doing but he enjoyed it so yeah it was wild now I can feel a city up yeah I just out of context so there’s 550 people on YouTube and 54 on Twitch that’s a thousand people
And the last public meeting that I was in I think we got 250 and that was that was like that was awesome see just need 20 parking lots you guys are being forced to carpool we’re doing we’re doing t t tele [Laughter] meetings yeah I was part of what what
Biff was doing course was interested yeah he didn’t have to be though um and I I do think that biffa really helped kick off my channel uh the other thing was I got an email from YouTube uh and they said we’re g to make you a creator
Of the week we’re going to put you on the trending page for a week and I I there was like probably like a a month and a half after BFF shouted me out and uh it was wild seeing that the influx in people um first of all I got the email
And I went up to my wife and I was like do you think this is real and I was she was like she like it looks real to me and I was like no way like they would reach out to me in some other way and
Then sure enough I was on the trending page and I was getting like it was like a thousand subscribers a day it was it it went wild um so yeah it was it was it was it was interesting your community and then a road that is meant to actually uh get
People to to their destinations within the community so I want to be cognizant of that as I as I develop the city I also want to make sure that my intersection lengths aren’t too close which will mean that there’ll be some weird gaps but I’d rather have a weird Gap than a broken
Intersection I mentioned that I want this to stay true to reality so I’m going to develop this old portion of theity know we old because this is the first part that we’re developing I want this to have a grid like you see in U many American cities the oldest portions of the okay
So I should have went the other way I don’t know why I decided oh I’ve got a grid off the the side of the cliff over here not not good at all this is this is brutal I like oh terrible in fact I think this is one of the things that I
Want to say at one point I ended up fixing this where I deleted this off the cliff side uh maybe it was in uh the Revisited Series where I was actually going through but this like this should not be here like this not this far it could go this way
But development occurs in the path of least resistance and this would be very expensive makes no sense you’re not sure where you’re enjoying more my reactions uh the reactions or or me cringing oh gosh um you remember when you when uh when I showed up in your comments you assumed

Was I could run it on my system I didn’t need to think about much the problem is it didn’t separate your audio and it just generally gave you a poor video quality stream yeah it’s a it’s a throwback to the to yeah so this this is
A this shows you how well-versed I was in content creation it was absolutely I mean at at that point I might as there are a number of different ways I could have captured video that is up there as the as one of the worst ones for Content
Creation if you want to control the quality but that’s what I used all the way up until Verde Beach I didn’t use OBS until probably around Verde Beach uh this was also edited in Premiere Pro which I also didn’t know how to use and then I think I switched
Over at one point to using Wonder fil Mora and then I finally when things took off I I I picked up a Mac I didn’t start with unregistered hypercam too I have standards bang glorus you use Bandy cam as well yeah it’s not good it’s not

Simulation modeling and it’s really complicated you got to set the entire network up so you set the whole network up in in in this piece of software and then you got to let it churn over a weekend so we had a modeling room when I
Was a consultant and I I worked to set up the model and then I would let it run and this is like for a regional area not not just one city um but it there’s so much math that goes into that so much effort seeing this it’s really
Simplifying it um but yeah it’s it’s it’s pretty wild to think that this is even possible at all when you look at the professional tools what they’re able to accomplish or not able to accomplish um and whether that’s a regional model or like a like a vism micro simulation
Model they’re just you know they’re intense so this couldn’t they couldn’t couldn’t use this uh outside of um I know that in Madison there’s been things like uh the hip-hop architecture Camp to get kids interested in planning and architecture and engineering I could see doing something
Like that and I remember as a kid my first exposure to Sim City was actually at school that we had the Sim City 2000 educational version and I could see City skylines being used in that way uh which program did I use I use transcad and as soon as they came at me

Uses not in terms of people uh back I went there I went there back in the early 1900 when Idan zoning became a thing and one of the reasons for that all right this is some money I’m talking about segregation and walkability while I’m putting factories next to my [Laughter]

The pioneers of of this uh zoning where the uses were segregated from one another in an effort to improve quality of life for that’s that’s what we’ll call it that’s where you had the separation of uses that’s where mixed use became less and less of the I wonder if I put a path
Over this where you ended up with this is a commercial area and this is a residential area and you know there there’s there are certain benefits to that I mean clearly in a residential area if there are no commercial areas next to you or industrial areas you’re
Going to have uh less conflicts between those uses but at the same time you’re likely going to be automobile dependent I like to think about this house right here where are they going right now there’s a lot in the city um they might work at a retail store over here this is

Separation of uses like that um so there are ways around it like I mentioned with paths and that those are things a little more well developed but for the time being I think we’re in an okay spot except for electricity we are not in a good spot with electricity at
All so as soon as we have enough money we will get in a better spot with electricity okay I it’s all right we have electricity so I talked a lot I talked to big game about oh gosh this is just terrible I just know I just know we have water we
Have people we have industry so one of the things I don’t love to mention is that we have residence on a busy arterial okay we have industry next to residences and then we have this industry way or these residence way over here not near anyone that could be

My videos and it became something that I was doing daily and I almost quit doing this because of that because it was so miserable to wake up and see that four of my videos have been claimed and then I need to go through and type in this is
Actually a track by so and so and they took the Trap and the track and wrapped over it so that’s also why with master plan music there’s only one way that you can’t use it well two ways number one I don’t want you to have an internet radio station and just
Playing the tracks on there and two is wrapping over the tracks I will aggressively go after anyone who does that because I want it to be okay for other creators to use because it was so miserable it’s the worst thing I’ve experienced as a content creator is that

I haven’t played TF2 in months but I played the hell out of it. It’s a fun game. I liked how the cities grew on their own based on how well you supplied their resources.
Chat did him dirty by having him start sandbox. The campaign does such a good job of guiding through the mechanics
Urban Games should look at the failure of Cities Skylines 2 being ruined by corporate greed, and make a new city building game of their own with their experience from making two transportation games. Totally something that hasn't happened before in the city building genre.

The best way to start is going to the city tab in the bottom right and picking the largest cities to focus on, then build outward to other cities. You need to pause in this game especially as a streamer you need to conserve resources it is expensive to get your network going. You also want to have train stations in the center of towns so you actually have people to get on the train by walking the suggestion to make stations out of town in the beginning was a mistake i have made many times the ground vehicles do not have enough capacity this early in the game to fill the trains so you will loose a lot of money. Every city will grow on its own as you invest in it/ bring goods so you should not be upgrading any roads at the start unless it is for your ground vehicles you need that money for the company. This is a private company after all lol you dont want to build roads unless you need to for your own company or later down the line when you have cash rolling in. 🙂 i hope you make a YouTube series on this game in the future! You will love it when you finally get the mechanics!
A big factor no one seems to have covered is how the Ai decides to move they decided how they will travel based on the fastest option or the cheapest option! Price is usually calculated by distance so the distance a station can cover doesnt mean you should not overlap because fast people will pay to ride a bus over walk, and the more stations you have the cheaper the ride is, thus more intracity stops = more money 😀

If Cities 2 continues to be bugged, I know you mentioned you might fix Bluffside Crossing, but it could be interesting for you to specifically have a stream or video where you restart on the map from scratch.

About CS2:
I guess I am lucky, that I don't have the time right now to get fully invested in the game.
At the moment I only play around a bit starting a new city every other week and just try to figure out how things work and whatever changed with the latest update. Hopefully, by the time I get serious about CS2, most of the issues will have been worked out.

Quick tip about the farm routes: Any truck station will act as a warehouse or cargo hub. So your horses bringing grain to the bakery are happy to bring bread back to the farm. You just need a short route from the farm to the city to drop off that bread. Your city supply route doesn't need to gi the whole way to the bakery, greatly reducing deadheading and allowing the best control over how many vehicles per line you need.
Bonus tip about why the passenger train had an extra rough start: Goods and people will only go on routes that are complete and have vehicles assigned. So you had no passengers at first because there was no complete way (last mile service) for them to get to any destinations.
I started watching bluff-side crossing again from the first one and sorta following along making my own bluffside crossing (since I’m a mac user and can’t run 2). All I can think is that even though your videos are professionally polished now, this series is still amazingly enjoyable – we watched because it’s obvious that you enjoy it, you’re willing to explain and teach, and your not afraid of making mistakes and sharing what you learn with the community. A few thoughts on TF2:
Passenger train lines (or later airlines in certain situations) can be real money makers, but they're highly dependent on the number of people who are seeking trips to destinations, frequency, and time to destination. The first is dependent on the size of cities, which is increased by satisfying city needs and increasing connectivity inside the city. Bus lines inside cities are essential to support passenger lines, but when you start getting better busses it can also be worth supplementing the train lines with intercity busses. I also tend to isolate my passenger train lines onto their own tracks so I can ensure they have zero causes to slow down because the amount you make on a passenger drop off is dependent on the time between loading and stop. I've had trains making millions at certain stops with a single drop off. I will sometimes start cultivating cities just by dropping one or two bus lines that get the majority of the city/town covered with just a few stops and some depots that are sited on roads between cities. This helps start growing the cities out early, and means that when I am able to start linking them in they have more passengers ready to go almost immediately after connecting them to my larger transport network.
Similarly, cargo train lines can be both fantastic and essential to satisfy city cargo needs. Look for factory chains that can be completed by sites near each other and which are desired by your cities. And while common wisdom is to entirely avoid deadheading, I often end up with dedicated, single purpose cargo truck lines because it allows me much tighter control at the truck stations and I can more reliably limit congestion.
One thing that often isn't immediately apparent is that demand doesn't start to happen for a service until you start getting vehicles to stop at stations, and that it is demand driven, for cargo by the next stage in the chain and for passengers it is desire to get to a location. This means that more expensive lines like high speed passenger trains will often start with significant losses for a few periods, but then quickly (and sometimes suddenly) ramp up as passengers realize that a destination is now available and make their way to the train station. It also means that producers will slowly ramp up as downstream demand gets connected, and maintaining low amounts of cargo waiting at truck stops will keep your transport percentage high, which will help keep the line utilized, and thus keep the profits high. For cargo lines my priorities are matching capacity, limiting congestion, transport percentage at producers, then lastly removing deadheading where I can. I almost always end up with a deadheaded last mile from either a central truck stop or from a train station. For passenger lines it's all about absolutely ensuring no blocking or slowing for passenger trains, bus/tram connectivity, frequency, train speed, train capacity – I'd rather have fast, full trains with an entire second load waiting at stations than slow, partially used trains with just in time delivery of passengers to the stations.
I ADORE TPF2. I had it in my library for so long and finally decided to boot it up about a month ago. I was dreaming about different routes and how to make things better. For me though I play it almost more like a model train set. Just make things look really nice.
I would love for the next game the dev's do to be more of a city builder, there's mods out there to allow for that now, but something like CS2 with way more in depth transport lines would be so cool.
In terms of CS2 and where it's at, for me having just bought the game I'm extremely happy with it. I have a few issues here and there with chirper telling me people don't have health care or too much polution but I mean… who plays with chirper on anyways? But the preformance is way better than I was expecting and it looks great. I think my only real complaint is just a lack of good maps, and easy ways to get new maps, and I guess some cargo stuff, though I haven't played much with that.

I remember stumbling across your videos for the first time… it was a while after this first video, sometime around late spring 2022, but I was instantly hooked. I downloaded Cities Skylines not too long after haha. I was interning as a Visitor Use Management Ranger at Zion National Park at the time and was involved in a meeting about updating the traffic pattern for the main entrance of the park. I had already learned so much from your videos that I noticed a problem in the plan and made a recommendation to improve it, which got me a lot of approving nods from the older folks in the room! haha.
