The high altitude hills of Andorra take no prisoners! The world’s best cross-country riders took to Vallnord for the 3rd round of the 2019 UCI XCO World Cup. And boy was there drama!

From an Avancini/Flueckiger/Schurter battle in the mens, to a podium shake up with Anne Terpstra securing the first women’s XCO win for the Netherlands – this was a race to remember!

Drop in really last minute and that can work also on the best in the world i’ve done their research they know if they respond to altitude training they know if they don’t respond to other two training so it makes the the training process in june for a mountain bike athlete quite complex

But it’s not just altitude that the riders have to deal with it is so hot here today and it’s really dry out on track but luckily for the riders there are thousands of spectators cheering them on We’re already underway then round three of this year’s mercedes-benz uci cross-country world cup especially as we’re here at altitude that’s a pretty brutal start straight off the line and into a climb like that you’re getting an idea of how bad the dust is here that is

How dry it is up here in andorra at the moment here they come onto the wall then for the first time it’s hard to see on screen how steep it is but i will tell you this is a very hard time to do you landed there for 34 seconds back

I just pushed on my limited and now i’m so dead but i’m really happy to back on the podium that’s one that’s going to sting but that is one that this woman will never forget well now i feel very very happy but that just started off to the finish to be honest

If they want anyone else to win this but sync they’ve got to get on it right now yeah think he knows he has to push a bit harder sink really under pressure now matthias looking up well we’ve really got to fight on our ends now then i think what’s happened

Though do you think he’s slowed down i mean they wouldn’t if he was going at the pace he had been on the other lap surely they wouldn’t have been out a ride up to him just like that would they yes it’s very strange actually how this situation develops right now

And singh looking like he’s saying come by me normally something is wrong with him i don’t know what he’s pulling out i saw him holding his chest at the top of a climb and i thought earlier in the woods and i thought it was a weird thing to do no it’s not mechanical

I think he’s having trouble breathing but well plenty of drama here in the pyrenees today then as ever this is an attack of him well no malapia then in andorra flocking around the outside Up gonna take his second win of the year is nino sure going to take his first win of 2019 and an attack from shelter i think on the right shirt is going could anyone go with him fluking a tries and and it looks like i haven’t seen you all

Able to go just about with the olympic champ here brutal pace on this last lap what about all this is oh looking up Oh what a finish this is gonna be Broke matthias vlogging up nino shetter heads back in the high altitude her locker oh no that dora matisse comes across the line in seconds avancinia brave rides by the brazilian takes his best ever world cup finish and that’s how much this one hurt the olympic champion wow

That was super hard it’s always i think it’s the hardest to to race on high altitude you’re always suffering and uh it was a tough one but uh it’s nice yeah it’s strange i couldn’t go over the limit i’m not tired i should be so yeah second place or what’s good

I’m so looking forward you know for the second half of the season i think it’s a great kickoff you know if i win on friday and a top three today uh it’s my best first count result ever so we’re still stepping up we’re still learning and uh

I don’t think that’s the end i still believe that i’m going to improve Oh that was such a dramatic race oh my gosh nino he fought so hard to take his first win for 2019 and matthias bogeyer what a brave fight i can’t wait to see the battle continue at the next stop in the front
