Boating through Killarney National Park and Biking through the Gap of Dunloe. I didn’t know Ireland was such an adventurous destination.
I was in Killarney to attend TBEX (Travel Blog Exchange) and one of the tours they put together, through Failte Ireland, was to boat across Lough Leane and cycle through the Gap of Dunloe, both close to Killarney.
We were pick up at the INEC (Ireland’s National Event Center) and transported to Ross Castle on Lough Leane. We took boats, provided by Gap of Dunloe Traditional Boat Tours, across the lake to an island with ancient monastery ruins and then navigating through Muckross Lake and Upper Lake before being dropped off at Lord Brandon’s Cottage.
From there we mounted our bikes, provided by Ireland Walk Hike Bike, to cycle up the Mountains of East Kerry for the 11 kilometer road through the Gap of Dunloe. The sights were incredible. It did rain on and off the whole day but it just added to the experience and made it more memorable.
We stopped at Heather Restaurant for a delicious meal and the best Irish Coffee I have ever had. Our last stop of the tour was Beaufort Bar, a pub that is as traditional as you can find with live music and dance performers to welcome all us bloggers to Ireland.
It was an amazing first day in Ireland for me and I highly suggest Killarney as a stop on your Ireland trip.

    1. Ireland is such a beautiful place, and I think this cloudy weather really suits the castles, monasteries and lakes, very mysterious, but yes, the rain part is not so nice. Love the dance in the end

    2. What a magnificent castle. Very interesting information about deer. It is so nice sit near the fireplace at the end of the day after long, energy consuming adventure. Never been in Ireland yet and I have to agree that it is so beautiful with amazing scenery and wildlife.

    3. So awesome that you got to attend TBEX in Ireland! I hope to make one next year. So cute that the dog went on the tour with you. Look at him leading the boat ride 🙂 Great info on the activities and history of Ireland. Loved this video!

    4. That looked like such a fun tour, it's too bad the weather didn't cooperate but that's Ireland for you. The bike ride looked tough. I remember how steep the roads were there, but definitely worth it.

    5. True story. When I visited there I ate so much Irish soda bread that I became constipated. After about 14 days and a lot of laxatives, what came out of me is now infamously known in the area, as the "Great Crap of Dunloe"

    6. I cycle the gap after work in the evening very few people in the long summer evening, the rain means you had less people at the gap.l think you boot man is duckse his father yost to row tourist on that trip , Jenrations of there family were boot men, grate vid by the wt

    7. Killarney is SO much fun! I performed there as part of a tour I'm doing where I'm only performing in hostels. The Killarney show was extra special. I just posted a video from that trip, actually!

    8. In the summer of 2001, after leaving The Grand Hotel night club, a lady friend and I walked down to Ross Castle, 'borrowed' a row boat and rowed out to the middle of the lake. As the sun rose, we watched a herd of deer swim from the island to the mainland.

    9. Awsome Video here- I was in ireland for a week 2 yeas ago in august and I think it was just an awsome place super culture and people – very inviting and a very beautiful landscape – History in a Huge way as well !! – even the food was super!
