Even after riding a thousand trails all over the world, there are still plenty of surprises left to discover. Our guide Vic calls this trail Very Freaky, and it was a million little rock slabs all tied together into one trail.
It was like riding a jackhammer, but when you got going fast it was amazing. It rained the night before and I was afraid of slippage, but the Spanish sun torched any residual water pretty quickly.

Me amigos good morning from all Bosch Spain further south now we left Alta yesterday in a crazy rainstorm and we made it in the van in the RV in the Mik trail rider mobile but first I had to get some service on my bike at the bike shop
I had stripped out the bolts on my my stem cuz as you know if you’ve been watching the previous videos I had this horrible Creek coming from my headset or my handlebars or something and I think it was in my my stem and I was tightening and loosening and tightening
Loosening and I totally stripped out the bolt so thankfully the hobro bike shop in all foz took care of me i got new bolts so good baby ok today’s adventure is being put together by Vic and a knot of mountain biking’s bank.com and this is what it’s all about right here big mountain
Adventures oh yeah it’s a little cold it was raining all night and yesterday it’s nippy we’re right about 5800 feet right now we just climbed and climbed and climb and climb it’s awesome of course once again we’ve got Andrew from ik trail rider joining Elan we’ve been ping
Ponging on the video so the last video in costa blanca super cool that was back on his channel if you missed it go back go back and watch it and of course he’s on the dv8 bike once again but look at what we have here we’ve got Ben Jones
Himself in the flesh from my famous Mont Blanc enduro and Lake to Lake and look at it’s a new dv8 bike with no gearbox high pivot point brand new it’s got what two rides on it a production sample they’ve they’re going hard they’ve got they’re going 29 or hi pivot point it’s
A whole new world pretty cool they call it the Spanish outdo as the road bikers come right up here all right chasing dick down what in the world unlike anything I’ve ever seen here we go a little worried about slippage because it’s a little wet but I’m gonna
Have to just test test the grip here so this region in Spain has a lot of marble this is not marble this is something else entirely slate okay and this is so Vic said a few times when he’s taking clients down that they look at it and
They’re like we’re going down that I was thinking a bit of the same I got the master of the endo turn behind me Ben Jones so I think I’m gonna let him go ahead and see what I can learn let’s see some magical yeah there we go
This is I’m gonna learn through osmosis here my backpack got bad I love it man this is craftsmanship this is built this is a trail this isn’t just like a random piece of rock out here these were cutting blade split slidin away warming up them this is the sierra de
Las palabras mountain range this feels a lot more like Arizona the Vics been living in Spain for eighteen years and he’s been a guide on and off since the late 1980s he’s got mountain biking in his blood man I’m sure he felt like I did when he
First came out here and started to see these old hiking trails and take a bike down it and be like wow this is really something special and now to make that your career to bring people and share it with them and see how excited they get to experience it that’s it’s pretty magical
Wow continues to switch back yeah that’s the vision of a fek okay so this root is called very freaky yeah it’s a play on words yeah that’s great Vic said this part gets more change how to get more chunky yeah the wall ride alright I want to
Follow this new bike that’s just like the worst trail to do a shakedown right this is the first I’ve been through this bike I think it’s just everything feels so different and weird you’re not gonna really get a handle on your suspension setup and all that stuff maybe but see
It was just too cool that the us the wall ride this totally was not the trip so just a couple days ago been finished up his last guiding tour he’s uh merged his business sold his business to Julia from endless trails and he is working on the dv8 bike now full-time haha
The new model he’s riding right now is called the Highlander does he’s Scottish even though he doesn’t sound like it pail of a switchback this is so crazy it’s the first time I’ve ever been like ah downhill bike would be kind of cool man this it’s so funny because I think
Of this if I was a guide and I was gonna try to bring clients on stuff I’m like there’s no way I could do it but I guess I would be under estimating the abilities of my clients because this is it’s really quite crazy but it’s it’s pretty fun too
A few stories could be told from this old ruin I’m sure kind of cool when you could build a house out of the stuff that’s laying around on the ground nearby I think I’ve had six or seven mandatory hand rest breaks get the feeling back in the phalanges
That was cool had the endo turn and then got hung up with another wheel catcher and then the saddle made contact with the old low-hanging fruit big hole olive trees a couple of years old I’m sure maybe 300 haha girl our motorcoach nice okay we’re up at the
Top for another run after our shakedown run I’m gonna be able to keep up with these guys but try so Vic was saying they’ve done races out here and they start at the water trough right there and then it will go down to the ruins and that’ll be a split like that’s one
Course cuz doing the whole thing would be ridiculous Oh Oh brush back just hey yeah finding that right level of looseness got to be able to turn and avoid obstacles that is a hell of a little rock at the end of that I remember it from the first yeah
Oh the data processing going through my skull right now Wow I’ve got like half my vision on Andrew I’ve seen what line he’s doing and then half right here it’s so different when you’re going full speed yeah pretty nice temperature actually it’s definitely chilly left makes it easier on us
Sound effects have to be good on left-right-left Oh Oh chains off again ya got me safe got to be safe if only they made something that would keep your chain on somebody should invent something like yeah never ridden the bad trail in Spain that’s a fact
Yes go gotta get that front wheel kind of planted kind of to be dead stopped but your movements and still have to be going it’s hard to show off the riding on the gloves here but these are the bkx II just go ride gloves no pretense just
Go ride a shop dot b KX e dot bike Andrew said the last time he vote rode this trail and like pulled muscles in his forearms cuz he was riding his trail bike it was just too intense and he said that was the last time his forks worked
Properly as well murder on equipment so offer that section okay now the hands feel feet up again for that most of that top section my hands were way better hold on Shane hold on it’s still on there I look down which is probably the most dangerous thing you could do Oh wiki
Yeah time for some lunch we’ve got mrs. MacPhail Ryder as our shuttle driver apparently the public pool has a pretty good lunch swimming looks a little green at the moment though food food food food food fabulous so good I’m so full but we got to keep riding
So we were eating lunch right about there and then massive not flip and this is also a course they stopped doing it’s too tough trying to avoid the rain or maybe snow cuz it’s so cold hooks get a little slippery full-on snapback it’s all good it was like the
Perfect timing andrew has done an awesome job of finding all these hidden gems he spent quite a few months last year in Spain traveling around so he’s ridden all this stuff and he knew that it would be right up my alley it looks so shiny so wet so disastrous
Through the tidepools it really looks like oceanic rock back home on the coast nice dude yeah it’s just a real-deal mountain biking when you’re getting pushed and you’re having an adventure and you’re seeing things you’ve never seen before whoa uh-huh see the front got slipped up
You put all that weight on there for the endo turn it’s got a plant it’s got a stick this is the Paleolithic Age and we’re going through the Jurassic game he’s definitely gonna need a bowl check after this go through see what’s rattled loose Oh
It’s funny when you do you go through do a bolt check everyone’s like what’s wrong what’s wrong like dude I’m just trying to do preventative maintenance for once in my life we had such a nice day taking on those three runs one two big monster runs and
Then one junior run after that got a shower got a kebab very very good day and now this is the morning this is the next morning I forgot to do the outro and we’re heading out the trail riders next video get on his channel tomorrow we’re
Gonna have a blast there is more to come from the Philip race area thanks for watching you guys I’ll see you on the trail

That ride was epic!
What bars and stem are you using? I like the stealth look and are they carbon?
😍😍😍
Brian, when you get a minute can you get in touch with me offline. Brixton (9 year old son) is doing his passion project at Charter School on Mountain Biking and he needs a professional to research. If you are able, that would be rad!
I love this episode, love the rocky stuff!
You didn't know you would be jack hammering on the trail! All in a good days work, hard labor being a youtuber. Those were some tight switchbacks.
Can you try Megavalanche in the future ?
Great video..again! What camera do you use when you’re pointing it at yourself? , i assume the one you use on the chest mount is a gopro
Looks like Simi Valley trails.
Keeping a chain on? 🤔 Carbon belt and pinion system would be better. Less work you have to do on it
Love it 💕 when is really rocky
Come back to Australia 🇦🇺 🦘bro its summer and awesome 😎
Looks a little on the gnarly side that Brian. Are you planning on heading further west in Andalucía? There's some worthwhile trails around the El Chorro area.
This video is a return to form Brian… good noise, good pictures, good chat, good work.
GREAT !! WHERE IS THE TRAIL IN THE SPAIN ? IN WHICH REGION ?
Hi Brian, I thoroughly enjoy all your videos, but I tend to watch them on the Patreon Extended cuts, (which have the comments turned off!), so apart from clicking the like button, I have to come over here, to the 'standard' version to say how much I enjoy them. Keep up the good work.
Steve
@bkxc Did Ben give you a chance to ride the new Deviate Highlander? Super-stoked to see how that handles/rides.
Cool video, how does it compare to Rocky Mountain range?
That looked like it was jaw rattling. Question…when you're on long rides do your hand ever go numb??
Have you ridden West Virginia?
I'm a newbie to real trail ride and enduro and I was wondering how do you get comfortable going downhill without grabbing fist full of break
Go too fast and you ricochet off a rock and over a cliff or go too slow and one of those rocks will send you over the bars and over a cliff.
Late 80’s would’ve been
VASTLY different on 26 inch rigids. Your hands would be extremely numb!
High pivot point? Does that mean bike are taking a 25 year u turn back to the Klein mantra? The trek y33 will be rereleased next year 🤣
Shake, rattle and roll baby! Bumpy trails
Was just about dealing with some creaking myself on my handlebars and was wondering if you had yours sorted out!
I'd love to ride down those trails, they looked amazing; especially when you can see the lines going down the mountain 🤩 and call me crazy or just a fool but I kinda want to do them on a hardtail 😁😁
Stoke was high! Thanks as always Brian 🤘
Curious… you said that rock was cut and laid, by who?
Get a chain guide/ bash guard, keeps your chain on and keeps your chainring from getting smashed
That is one heck of a trail. Arms are hurting just thinking about it
You really get to ride in the coolest places, with the coolest people. Thanks for bringing us along!
The stabilization was really put to the test here! 😀
So cool to see Deviate cycles working. It's a fascinating concept to me. Wish they were affordable to ship overseas… but I guess i'll just have to move overseas to get one lol
Wow, that landscape is so spectacular, as were the trails. Hope your Hands and wrists are doing fine, that was a torture!😳😁
rest of the world: how much gnar you want
spain: "yes"
