The Triumph inspired build for Mike Brown is in full swing this week. Tony is assembling the forks, Jack is fluffing and buffing the subframe the old fashioned way and I am bolting her together in this weeks episode. We need your help though as we debate black or white plastics – let us know in the comments.
Following on from the Carb 101 episode the carb over flow vent kits are back in stock and if tool porn is your thing you will be salivating over our new double ended T-Bars, trialed, tested and a firm favourite with Supercross and MXGP mechanics worldwide.
Tommy Searle stops by the workshop to pick up his winning 2023 VMXdN Foxhill KX250 (I told him he should stick to two-strokes). He also stops by the @torqmoto studio for a quick podcast episode – Jump over and show us some love with a quick like and subscribe if you can.
If you are going to the Classic Bike Show at Telford in February – come and say hi.
Thanks for all the likes and subscribes – it really does make a difference and lets us know in the comments whether you think Brownies machine should have black or white front number plate etc.

Oh they got come apart the spring come back Apart hi yeah Rob from wob uh in this episode I’m going to show you the 20 two YZ 250 we’re building from Mike Brown for 24 vmxdn foxo uh Mike’s contracted to Triumph for this year so the bike has to reflect his sponsors so it’s going to
Have to be black and in their color way so it is what it is no problem I think it looks quite cool so we’ll show you more about this in a minute Tone’s putting the fork together Jack’s just fluffing and buffing the subframe uh you can see in the background the Husky 2
500 which I have done nothing with so I need to sit in a dark room for a minute and get my head around working on that uh we’re trying to get this one ready ready for the uh Classic Bike Show in tford mid-February so even if it hasn’t
Got The Right Fork Springs in it it’ll be there on display looking pretty good so uh we’ll have it there and um let me show you what else we’re up To [Applause] in the episode Clean Hands So Tone’s just putting assembly on the forks Jack’s giving the subframe the final fluff and buff in the Parts washer cuzz a lot of these people they build bikes with like modern Vapor blasters and all that other stuff well that isn’t
How they look back in the day how they were done back in the day was by handing the parts washer so that’s how we finish everything off cuz that’s got to look per correct and right so that’s what we’re doing um bike’s coming on looks like you know what you doing
That sounded uh I hope so I think so done it before done before only once just the once but probably be told they’re doing it wrong but hey ho okay so we’re just going to bolt these outer tubes onto the inner tubes now so just put a little bit
Of oil on the fork bushes just to just to help it along its way D seal on fork seal and the fork seal fixing clip take the end cap off now so we don’t damage the seals going on so we need to put the oops almost forgot the washer F that out a
Bush in a bush and a little bit of lube so it’s not all dry when it goes together little little bit of lube helps everywhere the fork Tube Co and we just lock the bushes into place and then lightly knock the oil seal in lock it in place with a clip the sealing and have the tube on good done thank you very much it’s poke it in Jack I’ve seen all videos we all right so just
While T’s doing the forks Jack’s fluffed and BR the subframe doesn’t want to talk on camera cuz he’s a um my single favorite bit on the bike t stop with the ratchet single favorite bit on the bike is this top chain roller we made these for the factory Yamaha 450 um Yamaha
Squad really cool aluminium takes the factory chain roll standard chain roller but if it’s a two Stoke luckily camera so all I got to do is figure out how the this on here something like that helps you stick your tongue out [Applause] py so that thread in there we Bolter W
Up Happy Days I think it was better the first time I did it wrestling the thing Now so it’s all starting to come together we originally ordered all black plastic for this cuz when car Michael and Stanton debuted the Triumph at LA Coliseum it was all black so we Happy Days all black so then we saw the European race team pitches white back
End we’re like oh we St we black we saw the American team pctures white backend then the production pictures white backend we’re like now we have to go white but to be honest I think looks quite trick so we’re trying to make this thing look as much like a Triumph as possible
For Mike the Triumph has Black Fork guards black front fender White Front number plate we went for black not so sure now tone thinks he looks good I I think maybe a white one with the proper lugs down the forks got translucent white discard I’m thinking white for guards so
Maybe you can help us out maybe you can let us know in comments what you think what combination so white or black for number plate white or black for guards really I can’t I can’t Decide so moving on from uh Fox HS 23 when we built this for Tyler bars um we did a feature on the carburetor so from then I thought I would make the parts that we use so we now have this carb overflow vent kit um it’s got the little
Canister that goes here on the frame comes down to the T piece which attach to the carb so the fuel can go up or down and then that’s your your vent pipe so we got that and it comes with a 3 mil for the float
Bowl so it is exactly the same as we use on this bike all works very well looks very trick and uh available in our eBay shop so these were a set of CR250 steel frame mid90s uh Forks that we built um the forks started off Life as a Suzuki
Twin chamber for cuz Suzuki had twin chambers before anybody else so we started off life with that we made our own Billet feet our own triple clamps Billet B mounts our own brake carrier for 280 disc and our own titanium bolts axle the whole shooting match uh the
Customer for these a specifi them to be Gold Titanium nitrate they’re quite disco looking they’re quite colorful but they do look really cool now they’re built so these are going to uh Jersey um for the guys to fit took a little bit of time to get
Them done nice but um they look a lot cooler than I thought they Would so these are the new uh tea bars we’re making we’ve been testing them ourselves there’s a few gone out to some race team guys they really like them so we’re looking at putting these into production um we call it double ender CU there’s a socket on both ends so that’s
Good for the tight stuff then that’s good for the normal spinny stuff um we changed up the way they are so they balance a lot better they’re just really nice in your hand just the perfect size so uh these are going to be in production really soon and we’ve got a
Few into the Supercross guys so they’re they really like them so and the Grand Prix guys are pushing for more so we can have to make probably 100 sets of each Now don’t the best so what’s going on kid um I’ve crashed me S stroke well I them four strokes I told you kid four STK are bad news man need to these riding them on nice natural tracks they are they’re a lot more fun they are fun but I do like for
Sters well but now of um I had a crash at Reena cross and then an operation two days ago and then um it’s not terrible but it’s not it’s not good cuz obviously I was racing Arenacross and now I can’t Race Arena cross 63 years old
And all that now yeah that isn’t helping the situation being a little bit older but he reckons like 6 to8 weeks so we back on a bike um when’s first British first British is it starts really late this year actually which is helpful to
Me I think it’s the end of April oh okay you’re golden yeah which is a lot lot later than they normally would start so that side of it is all right but it’s just I don’t know I just was hoping I weren’t going to have any more injuries
And I’ve only got a little bit of time left in the career and I was thinking I might not have another injury till it’s over but um could have been a lot worse kid let’s be could have been much much worse yeah so um as bad as it is it’s
Not too bad good good good so what you going to do with this now take it home and then I really like the way it Rod generally it it was there was the two bikes one this one was probably the one that was a little bit slower but this
One handled a lot better this is the one I won the race on on the Sunday yeah um it’s just nice to have and it it’s one of those I think I ride it a little bit cuz it was fun to ride when tracks dry out a little bit we’ll get we’ll get
Down to prep it up for next year yeah rebuild it new clutch new piston brake pads and all the service stuff and go again so hours work really yeah I actually practiced a little bit on it but I just like I generally really like riding this bike
Real handles handle so nice like the way it turns just the way it feels it was a little bit slower but in general fix that it was nicer to ride than um the other one I’m not sure they’re both very similar weren’t they different Forks
Yeah shot was the same I think maybe a different couldn’t really figure out why this one handled that a little bit better maybe it’s an offset on the clamp it should be the same offset but we’ll double check bar position or something but I will we can check I’ll take it and
I think when it’s a nice day in the summer take it out for a spin yeah get bit of two stroke fix yes you should was Jeff here did you say no who’s doing the podcast Jeff oh yeah here somewhere I was in the office doing emils that’s time I saw it yeah
Yeah I do need some new graphics some On’s are worn out a b they yeah they don’t last just get some graphics sent down we’ll stick her it up and I’ll take the re off I’ll take that RS air conditioner off and make it look real
Trick yeah well I think I’ll just make it actually say I don’t need this one to say much I’ll just have it like a replica of the actual bike yeah well he knows what he made don’t he he he’s got it all you only have to press print he’s
Only got to change up a few a few logos he so that’s it that’s it for another do wob episode uh this one’s in the final stage the mockup before we take it apart and put it back together properly um Tone’s been trimming up the bad panels
Today to fit nicely um the back ends on bit grubby with my minging hands um if you could let us know whether you think we should run a black or white front number plate I’m thinking white if I’m honest but we’ll wait and see see what everybody thinks um should look cool
When all the graphics are on her so uh like And subscribe come and see us at tford um Classic Bike Show middle of February that’ll be a good one we’ll be filming there as well as showing off everything we got the new box van that’ll be there we do an episode there
With that thing being sticking up so uh Lots going on lots to um we got announcement coming up soon about vmxdn so um keep your eyes peeled thank You

That kx a nailer 👌👌👌
Sooooo… it's a Honda disguised as a 2T Triumph??…. kinda sad, really… could have used something unique like a TM or something from a Boutique mfgr that is not as recognized.
Massive apologies to docwob for my impatience when he was building me a KX500 12 years ago.. a big mistake which I’ll regret for ever
i think it would be cool to run a white plate and black fork guards like the factory teams. Would have loved to see black lower fork tubes though as the factory teams run the kyb a kit stuff
Tom thumb100. Quick recovery budd!
