This is Part 27 of my trip continuing the journey, leaving Finland into Estonia. I left the campsite in Helsinki on day 37 and headed to the port for the ferry to Tallinn, Estonia. It should have been simple enough only a few KMs but I still managed to take a few wrong turns. The ferry crossing was uneventful and I found a campsite a few KMs out of Tallinn. The next day I left the campsite which I’d booked into as the facilities just weren’t very good and for 30 Euros I’d expected better. I’d located a hotel much closer to the city for 40 Euros per night and checked in there for 2 nights. I had located a motorcycle workshop who could fit me in for the 25Km service but they wouldn’t have time to do the full service so would focus on essentials and it was not for 2 days so I had another rest day where I travelled by public transport into Tallinn, I’ve included a walk around at the end.

The whole journey took me through the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and into Norway right the way up to Nordkapp, the furthest point you can travel by motorcycle or car in mainland Europe and then back through Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Belgium and France over a 7 week period late May – mid July 2023
I am back in the UK now, but please do add your comments and I’ll get back to you.

Fing L car going don’t think so take care welcome folks is Nick here start to day 37 I believe just leaving the campsite at Helsinki we well equipped campsite just got to hand in my key and then we’re getting the ferry to taning the ferry isn’t until 11:13 it’s just gone just gone

Nine half an hour away that there early took the day off yesterday went into hellsinki had a look around but I’m gear still dried out even though I left it in the laundry room my gloves are still wet my boots my left boot is still wet

But I think he’s in quite a nice town anyway Talon today and I want to spend a couple of days in Talon or at least a day in Talon and then continue the journey through Estonia lvia Lithuania Etc I yeah just where I wanted to go so this is the main Harbor

Area and I think I need to do what he’s doing yes Min a detour this is where we’re going hiking line that way biking line cargo don’t think so went around in a little circle there very nice indeed but didn’t help me get on the ferry went into the uh first

Cargo and then looks like Passenger Terminal for passenger this is the one look Viking line want to see so these lanes are for the 11:30 10:30 still loading wonder if they’ll squeeze any of us on the 10:30 we’re just through the check-in gate it’s Night P overa but the car in front down

Right good so we’re now in Estonia not quite sure what the plan is yet see if I can find a campsite Customs control thing straight out going need to go left see you just heading out of talion or trying to very busy I think I’m headed well I meant to

Be headed to a campsite can’t quite work out the address structure of the campsite so we’re heading towards the town on it’s based in and then I’ll figure out a little bit more when I get there I stopped at a Circle K just to get my bearings but grabbed a

Bagette and a coffee V that was there and found out little bit more precisely where the campsite is so well we’ve arrived at K talo problem at the gate so uh to see whe they’ve got space checked in to the campsite which is €30 a night that’s all inclusive of showers toilets Electricity and I just pass there and then pass there drive down onto the grass I think he said actually let’s do that cuz there’s electricity just here here somewhere oh there’s the electric P do I want to be here in the shade around there in the

Sun looks like it might be a bit far Stretch which case we may as well go over here yeah seems all right I’ve reached talin guess what has reached talin with me it’s about 5:00 p.m. good smooth Crossing I was going to explore Talon tomorrow I might have to wait until the day after go in by bus but it looks as

If the weather’s set here until Friday and it’s Monday today so I really don’t know we should see welcome folks it’s Nick here start of day 38 and I stayed at this particular campsite last night which in theory has a lot of nice facilities it’s called Ki

Taloo but it’s what I might term as a reluctant campsite uh if you look at the swimming Pond behind me it’s a nice shade of green uh all the facilities are just a little bit rusted rundown or miled they’ve got two toilets in total one of which is also the shower cubicle

And it’s 15 km outside of Talon and it’s €30 a night for a tent with electric and use of the shower just leaving the campsite so described it as a reluctant campsite as in they will only take cash so their CLE onel is a bit limited and the facilities are a bit run

Down there’s a lovely location well it’s 15 km outside of Talon but the premises are great on paper they’ve got a load of facilities in practice though just doesn’t pan out anyway off we go staying in a hotel tonight two nights see what I mean about the uh facilities in

That very pretty but just not very well maintained well the grass is nice but the hotel I’ve Got Tonight is 440 a night I’m staying for two nights cuz I want to explore Talon and try and let the weather clear a little bit today it was meant to be 90 odd per

Chance of rain but actually after about 9:00 it stopped raining and the roads are dry now you know into telling we go these road closures I think think I want to go straight ahead but I can’t I don’t think somewhere up ahead is the hotel I’m staying at for tonight

Horrendous Road Works lots of road closures in the city center so lots of diversions there unfortunately hopefully this hotel is somewhere here do look like it though does it no it might be might be the back of that lot behind the museum however if you get there missed

It somewhere along the way so I’m having to backtrack a little bit but the city looks quite impressive from here really blustery today but blue skies having found the hotel I’m now just seeing if I can get the bike serviced at all do soon somewhere around here

Possibly well this is the this is the place I’ve been in touch with they’ve said they can do it Thursday today’s Tuesday I had hoped somebody would be here but looks like it’s all a bit closed just check okay so I’ve got that booked in for Thursday morning at 10:00

A.m. it should be the big service at 25k but I’m going to have to do that I think when I get home I’ll just do the oil change etc for now and uh so it’s Tuesday today so I’ll have a free day tomorrow and Thursday they’ll try and get it done first thing

So I can get away right back to the hotel I guess it’s too early to check in but but you don’t see many of these around there’s one in Estonia not tiny you’re Go He
